So, just finished doing your blend door fix. Everything you said worked great. Nothing unexpected. You covered everything in great detail. I owe you a beer… great video. The reason I am leaving a comment is because I had to reference your “ Tips video to get cut piece back in place. I had it in 5 times, but it was a little twisted and I don’t fix things like that…. So I had to cut the smaller inside double rails.BUT, instead of cutting the rails completely out, I shaved them down to about 1/2 there original height and cut a little off each end.(,cut about 1/4 inch off each side in a “45”. The cut piece popped in like butter…. Just some more ideas to throw at the expert.. THANKS AGAIN! I would have never figured it out without your videos…
Howdy sir, thank you for these videos. I'm almost done with my 14 2ls, cutting off that piece now so I can get it back in there. If you're ever in the Killeen/Harker Heights area, I'd be happy to buy you a beer!
Great information! When I did this a month ago I struggled getting the original piece back in for almost 2 hours. Gave up and sliced the part off you pointed out and it went back in on the first try in 5 seconds.
Just did my 2015 Camaro I used a steak knife in which I rounded the tip and my mini micro torch from Harbor Freight. Total cost in blend door repair $45.00….. Orlando Florida✊thanks for the video
I have had people drive from Arkansas and Oklahoma for me to do the job. They will drive up the day before and get a hotel then drop their car off in the morning and I take them back to the hotel and when the car is done, I pick them up.
How ever it will couple up to the actuator. If you don't have a scan tool to do a calibration. Disconnect the battery and reconnect it and when you turn the key on it will do a self calibrate.
I have a 2012 Camaro. How can I be sure that my issue is the blend air door? The compressor and fan still work, but the air temperature through the vents doesn't change.
First make sure the bigger aluminum line next to the master cylinder is cold, if it is the only way to know for sure is either remove the lower A/C duct so you can access and remove the blend door actuator and visibly see if it is broken, or use a cheap boroscope to look in and see. I made a video showing that. ua-cam.com/video/wTatquprmJ4/v-deo.html
@737mechanic if I determine that the blend air door is the problem, I might want to hire you to repair this for me. I live 2 hours from you. How can I contact you to schedule this if you are willing?
Well I changed out blend door and actuator and unplugged the battery and the fuse and nothing, but when the vehicle and a/c are running I unplugged the hvac fuse for 10 sec and when I plug it back in both sides blow ice cold then the driver side goes back to warm air again I’m lost.
@@rubenmedina-gy4ys That sounds a bit high. What does the high side read? Did you add any refrigerant when you first started having problems with it cooling before you found the blend air door broken? I have done 14 of these cars now and about half of them have been overcharged because the first thing people want to do when their car starts blowing warm air is add refrigerant, when that doesn't fix it they finally have someone diagnose it down to the blend air door, then after I replace it and make sure everything is working I end up finding the system is overcharged.
@@737mechanic I didn’t check the high side and pressure is reading 35 38 psi on low side and it’s like a door open and then closes because I pull the hvac fuse when it’s blowing and vehicle is running and when I pull the fuse I leave it out for a minute then plug it back in with the a/c being full blasted and it starts to blow ice cold on my driver side then stops I checked the blend door and it’s functioning properly there was no issue with the cooling before

Do you have a contact number? I'm in West Texas...
Should the blend door be set in the closed or open position

Have the refrigerant level checked. That car doesn't have dual-zone climate control so more than likely it is either undercharged or overcharged.

Do you have to reprogram the car when you detach the wire harness to replace the part
No
Ok thanks appreciate it
Anyone from Florida that had this done that could steer me in the right direction/location to get it fixed? Disabled Vet and can't do this at all.
Still 1200 job but screws up a 1000 hvac box possibly destroy evap turns into 4000+ job lol
I have done 17 of them, charging only $350; otherwise, those people would NEVER have had their cars repaired because of the $3500 quote they got.
