Has there been any research to determine it calibrates to a closed position that is under less tension?
Not that I know of but the purpose of the function is to make sure it is not overdriving or under-driving the doors.
Dealer is ripoff. Disconnect battery and reconnect will recalibrate.
I wish that I would have found this video about two months ago. mine was dx as a bad compressor. I get lukewarm air. Hotter on the passenger side than the drivers. Then they told me that the supplied compressor was bad so I replaced it with another. Still didn't fix the issue. I'm about $1k into it without a fix. This will be a weekend project now!
Everytime you unhook your battery or lose power for any reason you will have to do this over again or you will have the same problem I’ve found instead of turning the knob all the way on hot or cold leave it one click off and it works perfect
Thx for sharing.
Dealership told me $3700. I was like nope lol.. Went straight to UA-cam
Did you get it fixed?
@@rafaelperez3803 yeah. I did it myself.
Would the Autel MaxiCheck MX900 work to do this calibration?
It is a basic calibration that many scan tools have so I would guess yes but I can't say for sure.
i love your vids, really informative! i would love that ms906ts myself.. but do you know if Autel has a $500-$600 model that would so similar functions as yours? $1400 is a bit out out of my price range atm.
thanks again for the informative videos!
They do have a range of scan tools in the price range you are looking for but without researching each of their functions I can not be sure what all they are capable of. But check out the xtool D7 here amzn.to/3Ft0972 I have the D8 and have a few videos on it. The D7 is very close in capability to the D8 that I have. amzn.to/3qjPtD3
I have a 2011 ss2 and im finding when I turn the heat on the lowest setting it sounds like its running high and it shuts off. If I turn it off and wait acmin and turn it back on it will turn on again then go off. Any thoughts?
Could you also solve the problem by not turning the knob all the way to cold or hot. Just like one notch before. So the door doesn’t have a lot of strain on it to hold that position? Am I making sense? Lol. My ac condenser went out and it cost over $3000 bc the windshield and entire dashboard had to come out. I would die if I have to go through this again with the blend door
Yes, you can, The only problem is remembering to do that and wondering if you will get full cold on a hot day. But yes that will help prevent the stress it is under.
My driver side blow out heat and the passengers side blow out ac
Mine blows driver side “COOL” not cold and “WARM” not Hot on passenger side. Is it the blend door??
It could be but the first thing to check believe it or not is the refrigerant level. The way these newer cars are ducted if the refrigerant gets low one side can be cooler than the other all because the refrigerant is low.
This is exactly what my Camaro is doing, cold on driver side, warm on passenger side.
@737mechanic can it also mean that it is just the actuator and not the blend door that's broken.. and can I change just the actuator first and see if my problem is fix before I deal with the blend door and all that cutting..?
Which scan tool did you use? I’m thinking of buying one to do this procedure. Thank you!
I used my Autel MS906TS in this video but my Xtool D8BT does the same job. The xtool has a $120 off right now.

@@737mechanic thanks a ton!
I have this issue now, had to replace the thermostat, had no heat, now doing the blend door.
40000+ miles 2015 ac stopped getting cold freon made it cooler but not cold my heat doesn't work
What scan tool can I use to reset the blendoor actuator? Any info or steps?
The Xtool D7 will do it.
amzn.to/4gvy7LI
Thanks. Pretty ridiculous you have to pull the windshield to remove the dash in our Camaros.
Hey so I recently just fixed my blend door and the ac works but no heat comes out whatsoever just wondering what I could do
First, make sure your coolant is full. When the A/C is on and you turn your temp selector to warm does it change at all?
@@737mechanic nope it remains all the way cold
@@Drosflow If you listen can you hear the door actuator running when you turn the temp selector?
@@737mechanic no it doesn’t make any noises like it use to
@@Drosflow I would make sure you have the connector plugged in fully. Also make sure the fuse is good.
Anyone know the cheapest scan tool to recalibrate the actuator door?
I am not sure if this is the cheapest one there is but It is the cheapest one that I know for a fact will do the job.
amzn.to/3W3pvni
I used a soldering iron it looks really bad and I think I ruined my car plus the white piece somehow is missing
GOAT
I guess when it broke it broke on the cold side
Mine is only blowing out ac cold air
Mine as well, it just broke in that position.
When I recalibrated my hvac system it apparently enabled the afterblow feature where after car is turned off it blows out pockets of air and now my battery is getting drained. I need to disable this??
If you have a scan tool you can disable the afterblow.
After doing this can you turn the Temp dial to Max cold without stressing the blend door?
You should be able to, This relearn lets the computer learn where the max travels are by measuring the excess current draw when the door hits the stops.
Thank you for the reply!

Hey how are you..! thanks for the video it looks that this is the information I was looking for and please help me a little bet I have the same car, is being a nigh mare cuz it blows the air where is no supposedly to blow it.You think this could be the problem air blow benders are not calibrate it I change heater core, HAVAC Module and also I programed as well.My English not so well sorry..
That would be the first thing I would do but you also need to make sure you have all the actuators connected. You can use a scan tool to move each actuator also to see if it is capable of moving.
@@737mechanic thank you I do really appreciated ..!!
This happened to me in winter around 150k on heat
Can Autozone or a car store not do this for you?
No, they don't have a scan tool that will do it and most Autoparts stores won't even clear a code for you anymore because of liability.
I don't get hot or cold air could it still be the blend air door?
Could be heater core
I just replaced the blend door which in fact was broken but still not getting any heater, i still have to to the actuators learn but does anyone know if no heat can be caused for missing that calibration???
Disconnect your battery for about 5 min and reconnect and it should recalibrate itself when you start the engine. Also, make sure the heater hoses under the hood are both hot.
@ i did disconnect the battery and reconnect it , didnt do it, but the hoses going to the heater core are not hot they seem a little warm , this with a temp of 180f wont go further than that on idle, could it be a bad thermostat or clogged heater core?
@@leovela5566 Could be a clogged heater core, also make sure it is full of coolant.
If the dealer fixes this do they not do this process before giving you the car back?
The car is suppose to be able to do it but it is good to do it very now and then because sometimes the actuators will get out of calibration and when that happens it places to much stress on the door.
Will the D7 work for calibrating like you are doing?
It should.
Mine just broke.😢 105k miles
Engineers make nothing that's mechanic friendly.
what i want to know is how can i do this with Torq Pro.. because that thing is odb2 interface.. so why the hell cant i do this on my own.. why do i have to pay a stupid shop to do a stupid config like this, that i can do with my own equipment.. that's what i want to know.
Because you have to have a bi-directional scan tool capable of doing these types of functions. Torque Pro is a decent code reader but it isn't bi-directional.
@@737mechanic bidirectional or bisexual? Lol
@@737mechanic odb2 is a pretty basic protocol, are there any other tools that are bidirectional that you know about? in this day and age, we can make a odb2 interface with nothing more than a $5 arduino and a hand full of parts. there has to be other tools other than the $1k unit you use or the one time "Dealer" fee, that 99% of people just dont trust dealers anymore.. including myself.. been screwed by them too many times to go back.. and i refuse to do so..
