- This week we take a look at the best online marketplaces. I give my opinion on the four main sites for buying and selling and tell a few home truths about eBay's customer service.

Thanks for this top notch presentation. It was exactly what I was looking for. The best perspective is always one from someone like yourself, with no agenda other than to share their first hand experience. Thanks for the excellent podcast. I've been buying and selling on eBay since 1998. Starting in 2022 I no longer sell on eBay because of the new tax law requiring eBay to issue a 1099K from the IRS for all sales over $600. Use to be 20K. Obviously this is very bad news for many sellers.

Very informative, so thank you. I'll have to investigate if there are any Australian sites because international postage costs can be almost prohibitive for a buyer unless you buy for decent amounts of money. I've had the same issue as you with the inordinate length of time it takes to receive items from US sellers on eBay, longer than 3 months in some instances.
💯 on eBay account. On my 4th turn, I gave up and left it the status they did. I was told customer service in the Philippines is the only contact, no higher authority, and remains a dilemma. I hope it worked for you. Thanks for this video.
With a lot of digging I managed to get hold of the CEO who personally ensured the problem was solved.

I got stamped collection and inherited from my grandfather. I I’d like to sell pretty heavy for a while. I believe he was born 12/12/12. Passed away. On.12/12/2008. I’m not really into collecting stamps and I just do get some money out out of this cause I could use that more than I can use the stamps.

Thanks for the alternatives to ebay. Last year I put on a single listing but they removed it almost immediately. They said I didn't follow the correct procedure & explained it fully. When I tried again it was removed immediately & my accnt blocked. After days of enquiring, they said my address is blocked for fraud. Told them I've never used ebay in any way before. They asked for proof of entry to address & agreed I moved in after whatever fraud but said I can make bids/buy items but barred from listing anything! Eh???🤔
Anyway, will look into your suggested alternatives. 😀
Thankyou for an interesting and informative presentation. I was surprised to see quite a few stamp listings for sale on the marketplace function of Facebook. I've bought several items on it and the method of exchange is through interact though your bank account.
Hi Peter, Been a seller on Ebay since 2002 and have around 3500 feedback, mainly books, postcards, some stamps in the past and of late unwanted household items, Ebay UK charge me £25.00 + vat at 20% total £30.00 for 250 fixed price listings and 50 auction listing which I rarely use, Eabay being Ebay have a while ago changed to this new listing page, at 69 I find it utterly confusing, why try to repair something that isn't broken, so I thought lets look elsewhere ( Mainly for postcard sales and some stamps ) I've also been a Ebid Seller since 2010 paying my £49.99 lifetime seller fee, I did list on there for a few months but did not get one sale, so although still a member I haven't been on there for a good while now, Delcampe also registered since around 2016 as a private seller but never really used them, so I'm thinking of giving Delcampe a spin, any advice I should watch out for, Have liked and subscribed, Good video by the way, Mike
Thanks for the tips. I’ll try eBid. I’m currently selling vintage stamps on eBay but have a lot of scammer buyers - those saying their item never arrived so want a full refund. I do so, but then see the item for sale in their selling items days later…. Good way to get some free stamps and make cash… eBay turns a blind eye to this despite the evidence buyers have. I’m bored of giving my previous stamps away for free so am looking for alternatives with more trustworthy buyers…. Let’s see what happens.

There is an online stamps marketplace call buyee. However, fees are expensive, particularly for the domestic and international delivery charges.

Same thing happened to me with a eBay same time I am account is still suspended because I don’t know him anything but they say I knew I have not sold anything not collected any money and they said they are all muddy so Mike Kell’s been suspended for five years now just about it
I buy from ebay mint gb victorian. You can get an idea of price from s g catalogue, then trawl through the listing for best value, however you still don't know if you are paying too much!

I can't say that this will work or not, but you could try opening another account. You'd obviously have to use another email and name the store/account something different. But it might be worth a try.
Thanks for your suggestion. In a later podcast I posted that the issue had been resolved. In desperation I wrote to the CEO in America who sorted it out and compensated me.

Hi, thanks for watching. Selling a stamp collection will depend on where you are, what you've got and how much work you want to do yourself. Have a look at my video "what to do with grandads stamps" to give you an idea of what to look for.
EBAY sucks. I tried it and they told me to post a zero starting amount, it would get more bids. It was working then at the last minute some stopped the bid and some bidded $1,00 I didn't have time to stop it, and Ebay said I HAD to sell it for the dollar,, hahahahahahaha I told them my address and said come and get it, it comes with free lead!!
I agree with you about eBay, in fact some people now refer to it as evilBay. They have also sent me messages that I owe them money, when in fact it is eBay that owes me money. Worse still, they refuse to try to solve the issue. Could a class action law suit be the answer… just saying. My account remains suspended.
Sorry to hear you're still having problems. I got mine sorted out a while ago by contacting the CEO in America, it's worked fine since then. Who do you use now?

Ebay has largest # of bidders. Keep in mind: you will not get retail for your stamps or for any collectible.You can get more at shows, mail order etc. You will not reach as many collectors.

Most dealers are very complicated to sale sometimes say yes and most times say not very pick and complicated if they buy something only pay cents that is frustrating we not living for the 1900 or 1800 we are on 2022 to pay pinas.

For my closers all dealers stamps.
Or the most dealers wanted old brand new stamps from the colectores impossible get on the postmail brand news old and new. Ridiculous.
Unfortunately there are a lot of stamps that are almost impossible to get rid of as they are so common and dealers prices often reflect this if they are present in a collection. I have a growing collection of stamps that are worth less than the postage costs so I can't even give them away. It's a difficult conundrum.

Sorry about that, no-one else has commented about sound quality. Maybe try adjusting the equalizer on your sounds system. I hope you can get to hear it properly. Have you tried any of the other videos?
They do not care . ebay is the only game in town as much as they are annoying .
True. I've settled my differences with eBay now so have started using them again. For valuable stuff I find Catawiki is a good option.
