#stampcollecting #stamps #stampalbums #collector #Maltabuses In this special first anniversary video we show you around my office and talk about my stamps and my other interests.
Another great video! I recently bought a collection of South Africa stamps from your eBay shop, great stamps at a great price, filled a lot of gaps in my collection. Keep up the great work, always interesting content.
Thanks or the very nice episode, Pete, and it was very interesting to see how you organise and what your other interests are. I started collecting again about 2 years ago - I used to when I was a boy and am now 72. I have spent far too much (all from ebay auctions) but have an excellent GB collection upto KGV1 and also about 6000 mostly quality with lots of sets, commonwealth pre QE2 also, and it's given me enormous pleasure, especially as I'm disabled and do little else. All the best, my friend. Ray.
This was a most enjoyable episode. Thanks for sharing your space with us. It is very neat and well organized! Belated congratulations with one year's existence!
Which part of Spain? Can I suggest a video? Best philately forums. The most active, the best for beginners, the ones with sections for each country, type of collection, ease of use, etc. Great video! Thank for sharing your collection!
I have been collecting stamps for over 50 years accumulating over 100 books. I recently decided to sell my stamps and found 2 auction houses in my area, one called sparks auction and the other r maresch and son to sell them. Even though the stamps won't be at auction until February I am starting to regret trying to sell them in this manner. After speaking with one of the auction houses I asked him how he would sell them. They both told me they would sell them in lots and not break up the collection. I would have preferred them taking out some of the very expensive stamps out and list them individually. They were telling me if they did that the rest of the collection wouldn't get as much. I'm starting to think this is not the case and just an excuse to sell them quick with minimal effort on their part even though I'm paying them 20%. I contacted one of the auction houses to give me their appraisal before listing them and he agreed. I'm not holding my breath that he will do so though.
In my experience you would probably get more by breaking the collection up but you may well end up with stuff that just won't sell. Also auction houses will probably have a minimum sale price, or a minimum fee which makes it less economical for you to sell that way. That's why I went the eBay route but it does involve a lot of work.
The largest country collection I possess is of New Zealand where I have 57 albums. Stamps, Mini-sheets, booklets, first days covers, Private post, Pigeon Post, etc. Other countries I collect are :- Great Britain, USA, Canada, Malta, Fiji, Hong Kong, Papua New Guinea. There are appropriate catalogues for these countries, new purchases every now-&-then.
Pete, fascinating tour. But you forgot to talk about your fountain pens and Diamine inks that I noticed on the shelf under your personal collection. I also collect fountain pens and have now 164 of them. I would certainly be interested in finding out how much it would cost to ship to British Columbia Canada one or two binders with the stock pages, like the purple one. There are no stamp shops with a 400 kilometers from where I live so have to regularly have them shipped. I usually buy them from Nordfrim. Congrats on the one year anniversary. Look forward to your next video. Say hello to Sheila.
Ha Ha. Well spotted, the pens are mostly cheap Chinese imports but I do have a few decent ones including a MontBlanc and a Parker Duofold. I love writing with fountain pens and always use them to address the envelopes used for the stamps I sell. I would love a MontBlanc LeGrande but can't justify spending that amount on a pen. What's your favourite.
Pete, I also have a number of Chinese pens as well as the new iteration of the Parker 51. My favorites are my 1930s Conway Stewarts they have nice bouncy gold nibs. I had considered MontBlanc but found they they were overpriced for what you get. Have you had a chance to consider what the shipping costs would be to ship the binders of stock pages?
Hi Daniel, I used to have a couple of Conway Stewarts from the 1930's, nice pens but I sold them to buy some more stamps! The postage cost seems extortionate to me, anything between 1 - 2 kg is 37.50€, over 2kg and I think I would need to get a courier company. The purple folder weighs 1.7kg but it does have about 55 stock pages. If you're still interested I could try to put a bigger lot together and see how much a courier is. It might make it more cost effective.
Hi Sonia, I could do a pack of up to 15 for around 12€. It would be the same price for 10. If you are still interested send me an email at ourdadsstamps@hotmail.com and we can sort it out.
It's always disappointing when they discontinue albums you are using. They must have their reasons but it's frustrating if you want to add one more for your collection and you can't.
I would like the stamp albums the stock ones...and would pay the postage...if you want to send them to me...!! I am rekindling my quest for stamps after 50 years!!
Amazing video
😊
Very organized on the library very interesting blessings
Interesting! Thanks for all you do.
Thanx for your video, so nice to see your mancave 👍 cheers from a fellow collector and seller.

Took me years to work out how I wanted my final display albums, thank all that's holy for the mighty stockbook
I didn't know you lived in Spain. Very cool.
Which part of Spain?

What a great room you have there, I like the organisation of it. Maybe I need a dedicated space myself. Thanks
You always need your own room :-)

Yes, if you dont mind. 37.50 Euros is about $50 Canadian. With that number of stock pages it is still worth it. Thanks Pete.
@@danielste-marie779 ok give me a few days and I'll try to get back to you
Very interesting. How long did you live in Malta and what did you do there?
Thanks. I lived in Malta as a child, as my father was in the Royal Navy. I was also born there.
I am in Barbados , would like some of the loose stock sheets , probably in a package of 10, how much would the postage be to Barbados
Hi Sonia, I could do a pack of up to 15 for around 12€. It would be the same price for 10. If you are still interested send me an email at ourdadsstamps@hotmail.com and we can sort it out.
I like lighthouse stock pages 2sided in black 1s, 2s, 4s, 6s , and 8s in loose leaf three ringed binders. Seems easy to use. Thoughts?
I'm not so keen on those because it's more difficult to slide the stamps in and out of the clear plastic strips, but I know many people who like them
I was very disappointed Stanley Gibbons discontinued the Oriel Album........

Hi I have several stock albums but postage is expensive, which country do you live in and I could let you know how much.
