The lady's questions are absolutely spot on. It's like she's reading my mind. What a great format, to have an expert, and someone asking him what we mortals want/need to know.

I just started with stamp collecting. This is an excellent video and I learned a LOT about the factors influencing the value of stamps. Thank you so much! I am binge watching your UA-cam videos to learn as much as possible. A question please: I stay in New Zealand and since I started buying stamps online the stamps on the envelopes in which the stamps are sent are not cancelled in any way! It seems the post office system stopped with cancelling and stamping stamps! Why did this happen and is it happening in other countries as well? Also - how does this influence the value of the stamps from now on? Should one take these stamps of the cover it will be like a mint stamp with damaged or without gum.

The same is happening here in Spain and the UK. It seems too much effort to cancel the stamps properly which often arrive uncancelled, or worse they put a boig pen scribble through them! Maybe the price of properly franked stamps will go up as a result. Thanks for watching and I hope you enjoy your binging on my videos.

I totally agree! I just found this channel and I’m so grateful that these 2 are down to earth and explaining in terms we understand. I have recently received granddad’s stamp collection. Actually great great granddad and it’s international and most of the stamps are from 1944 in earlier. I am going through them now and organizing it as it was just in one big pile in a box, but I am learning so much from these videos.!

The problem is inflation. And catalogues don't keep up with it. Many fine stamps of yesteryear can not fetch the price of a cheese sandwich today.

unfortunately that's very true, particularly of the mid to low priced stamps

On the back of stamps some of them have embedded numbers very tiny and letters what does that mean I have thousands of stamps driving me crazy when searching the value very from pounds to thousands

    • @ourdadsstamps

@@JOJo-jv2vb the numbers on the back are probably to identify the position of the stamp on the sheet. In the UK they put letters in the corner for identification purposes in Spain and some other countries they put numbers on the back, some are worth more if the number is not in the normal colour.
