Hi, with a good chance, the washer will move to the oil pan and there it will remain, because before the oil pump is a sieve. But following the textbook you'll strip the engine. Greetings, Jürgen
@@irina25661 yea that would be the best solution, I was lucky enough that it got stuck in an oil channel, and I was able to use a wire on the endoscope to fish it out. Still great job on the instruction videos. Many thanks for doing them.
Thanks enjoyed a very professional and informative lesson, One question you said to check all bolt holes for oil before replacing the head, why is this? ( what is the issue if there is oil in them?)
Hi, oil enters in the holes when the old gasket wasn't tight. If you screw a bolt in an oil filled hole, you'll try to compress the oil. In extrem cases the material around the hole might break. Greetings, Jürgen
Gratulation!
It looks so much easier with the 944S2. I wonder if this procedure is similar with the 968. last time I read that the camshafts have to be removed in the 968 to change its pads!
Thank you, the information in this video was very useful. I am currently doing this job on my 944S but unfortunately for me the oil pipeline snapped. I am worried because I did notice that there was only one bolt holding the chain tensioner in place and the reason there was only one bolt is because the hole it screws into on the head was broken off. Do you have any advice or experience with this?
How many KM was on the 944s2 when you did this change? i have a 1988 944S and i dont know if mine needs to be changed. It has 150 000km. I took a look at it yesterday and the groves dont look to deep.
Hello, for the car in the video I don't remember the mileage. Generally it's a good idea to replace the pads every 120 000 km. I know from several S2 engines which died with a mileage around 150 000 km. Greetings Jürgen
Super Video!
I have bought cam tensioner complete assembly for my 928, they are new & right now no oil inside them.. do u have any idea how should I pretension them before installation? Right now there is no tension in them Thanks
Hi, strange. There should be a mechanical spring inside, holding them pretentioned. Is your tensioner really freely movable up and down? Greetings, Jürgen
@@irina25661 thanks. I have found the issue while comparing the new Vs old assembly, the new assembly on bank 2 was the one which was suspect as there was no spring force I could feel .. actually the piston inside was struck, I don't know how .....I took a small screwdriver & pulled it a bit out, than as it came out there was spring force... Hope I make sense to you
@@vicky-nc3to Fine, that means all is okay now. By the way I had also once an old tensioner which was stuck. As long this happens only when the piston is maximum out, that's no problem. In normal operation the piston doesn't reach this position. Greetings, Jürgen

This is excellent, thank you!
Great instructional again by the master. Thank you for doing these.
Very Helpful. Thank you!
Thank you very much! That helped me out a lot.
Good job on the video. So what would happen if you drop one of the washers from an oil line? Would you need to strip the whole engine out to find it?

I heard that too. Would someone confirm. Do the cams have to be removed in 968?
Tropical Recording. Com From what I have learned from a pdf instructions I found in Rennlist, the camshafts have to be removed.
For a 2003 Audi A4 1.6 petrol do you recommend for the valve cover gasket to use Viktor Reintz or some other brand like Elring or go for oem?

Is this repair the same on the 1994 968 3.0 4 cylinder engine?
