i have a couple hundred hours in squad and i cant stand the aiming. even when full stamina and staying still. my gun and sights still jump all over the place. it legit makes me motion sick looking through some scopes.
@smurfmianz4527 oh yeah great, I'll hold shift while I puke my guts out. The motion swaying, the head bobbing, the shitty PIP scopes literally make me so sick the game is unplayable.
So just like real life then. 🤷 You are running around in full kit. Your body armor weighs 40 or 50 pounds, and you've got another 20 or 30 pounds in your pack. You're thirsty. Your legs are tired, your lungs are on fire. There's sweat in your eyes. Adrenaline is coursing through your veins. You can hear people getting killed and you're terrified. You go to shoulder your weapon, and your arms are tired, the adrenaline is making them shake. Your stock is sliding on your body armor, your sling is stifling & awkward, it's difficult to get consistent stock placement or cheek weld, especially with your helmet on. You have to do extra work to get proper sight picture/alignment. Yeah, you're gonna have trouble holding your weapon steady and making precise shots lol. That's how it actually is in real life. Squad is trying to replicate that. The real life answer to these issues, just like the video says, is to SLOW TF DOWN and be more cautious & attentive. Only running around or jumping or climbing over obstacles when it's absolutely necessary. You're not the Avengers. Movies aren't real life.
I adapted. I dumbed my entire playstyle and thought process about the game down. Now get 2x as many kills per game as I used to. Am dropping 20-30 kills per game on average as infantry. Strategy and intelligent, skillful play are no longer relevant. New bugs are constant. Cheaters are becoming common additions to servers across the board. Games now last an hour minimum due to the ticket bleed removal and still play out in the exact same way as before. The community quality has tanked due to the game being made braindead easy. Everything bad about Squad has gotten worse. The game has become slower and stupider in every sense. But hey, that's where the money is.
@mio2540 "you tell me that when all of the old PR devs left OWI" Doesn't make it any less of a spiritual successor, people are upset that new games are selling out to appease the lowest common consumer but get angry when they try to live up to the standards that was built in mind in the first place. I'd like to be pessimistic, but squad is still healthy and living. Players come and go, but one thing that doesnt go are players who havent got a clue what teamwork and coordination is. They run off on their own with their HAT / Engineer kits and think its rambo. This game doesnt punish them nearly enough when they have 2 bandaids and infinite sprint to do whatever they want.
My problem is that it feels like CQB has been a little too crazy. And of course whenever someone brings up a valid concern they’re met with the typical “It’s a skill issue” response. I shouldn’t have to stop walking in order to engage a target 10 ft away. The deviation is messing with the 1X sights at that range and it’s not right. I have no complaints about longer engagements.
Have you ever done CQC/MOUT exercises in full kit? Sprint 50 meters and then engage moving silhouettes while trying to keep walking? It really isn't as easy as your typical FPS game makes it look lol.
@@eyeout Not if you don't take the time to mount the gun correctly. These zoomers want to go directly from a full on sprint into blasting full auto while ADSing and then wonder why they can't hit anything. I get it that the ICO features could use a little tweaking but even as-is they are good mechanics intended to FORCE people to play the game correctly.
@@sullathehutt7720 if you can’t sprint 50 meters and hit a target that’s 10 feet in front of you with the first three shots on a snap aim, you haven’t trained enough.
As long as there's some mandatory way you can see if they're running ICO or not. I would fucking hate not knowing if I'm getting into an ICO server, like I'd want to, or one running the shitty old version
As of now, if you want an easier gameplay experience due to not being able to play the ICO effectively: MEE mod servers are pre ICO. Go lazer beam your heart out
This update is amazing, ico forces you to work together, this is how squad should be played. Not going solo like battlefield. After this update I had no matches that everyone were playing for themselves, in all the matches everyone were working together. I love this update because it made the people who were playing it wrong either leave or correct themselves.
They implemented it because they didn't want 1 guy ramboing a whole squad. But why was he able to defeat your squad? Because you didnt play as a team? And as an attempt to fix it they just replace skill with a random chance of hitting somebody... Wow and you're proud of yourself 😅
@@squaeman_2644 they didn't replace skill, you can still have steady aim if you have full stamina and aren't running, but you can no longer sprint at full speed and still be accurate.
You insane gaslighters act like Squad was like battlefield or CoD when I suspect…you barely ever played the game. I have no IDEA why this bizarre myth has developed around this game. Aside from getting kicked if you messed around too much in the average game, it was exceedingly rare for people to rack up double kills with any regularity. The game was won or lost on tactics for its ENTIRE life time. I honestly feel like people just watch these vids and then pretend like they have more experience with the game than they do.
One of the unexpected downside of ICO is that every skill veteran either left the game or is not playing infantry anymore. So what I see now is a bunch of mentally challenged people with way too few hours in the game take SL and ruin games simply by beeing idiots.
"every skill veteran" as in "every ignorant clanstacking pubstomper that thinks the purpose of squad is to supply him with randos to shoot for ego lifting"?
Pre-ICO the idea of crossing an open/sparsely covered field, even with friendly MGs and vehicles covering, was suicide unless the enemy was oblivious of your presence. There were times I had gigachad headclick moments and it was cool, but no single person should be able to fight across the battlefield in THIS game and live just because they're sweaty and wiggle harder than Siege players(no one should wiggle that hard). Work together, conform, or die
M27IAR goes brrrrrrr. i remember dropping 75 kills in a game pre-ICO using that rifle, because i could bipod and laserbeam anyone up to 400m with ease. shit was ridiculously op
As a founding member of a squadron of players and commander of the most populated squad servers on the public list we had 4 servers and kept them full 75% of the day Monday-Thursday and 90% up time Friday-Sunday the ICO has ruined the game. We’re down to 1 server and 1 backup server and barely keep them filled during the week with an up time of 65% Friday-Sunday. I can tell you my admins have stayed active to try and help populate our servers. A lot of our guys are military veterans from various nations around the globe with real infantry combat experience, myself included. I can’t count how many people have stated: “oh this is much more realistic and more like real combat” and “this is how these weapons work irl” or “it’s the real combat experience” who have no fucking clue and it shows. Our discord is in the thousands of active members and we have had a vote up on the approval of the new ICO and now at this very moment is 74% negative and all negatives would prefer it go back to how it was. It is what it is. The ICO is out and a version of it will remain permanently. Further those saying “back to their roots of project reality” make me think they never even played project reality. And the blurred optics with the fucked up parallax and the frames and tubes blocking the ability to ads is stupid. Suppression which causes full on blur of your screen and the inability to use your weapon at all is ridiculous. I wish them well, it’s been fun and I would say we got our money’s worth. Something new will pop up to replace our effort in bolstering the community and we will move on.
The ICO update makes an already frustrating game to play even more of a chore. I had roughly 900 hours before ICO and now I’ve maybe played a combined 30 hours since then. The noodle arms, obnoxious sway, and constantly making sure I have enough stamina really ruined a game I enjoyed. If they had at least implemented a weapon stabilization mechanic that passively provided you a stability boost when behind cover it wouldn’t be quite as bad as it is. Offworld published post scriptum which has this. That combined with all the other random bugs and glitches that have existed seriously make me hate this game now.
@@Severe11.11 The ICO did not improve any semblance of realism or player tactics. It made the game more frustrating to play. People try to argue Squad is a milsim experience, but I look at Arma and notice how arcade Squad really is. I’m not saying I didn’t change my play style or approach to how I play the game. I’ve had a lot of really great games playing infantry. It’s just that now it’s like I’m fighting with the game to tell my character to do what I want. That is truly annoying.
Im having an amazing time with my friends rn in squad. I mean yes, the first day it was rough and I only got a few kills compared to my previous games, but I got used to it with my friend and we are enjoying it. I feel like by slowing down a bit, I get way more kills than before, and today my friend (who suffered the changes worse than I did) dropped 38 kills playing only infantry. Watching old clips makes the game look like battlefield and I am surprised how I enjoyed playing it. Update was definitely needed and I am glad that it is here.
im getting into squad right now (coming from post scriptum) and must say that the gunplay can be summerized with: "i dont trust my gun" which feels pretty shitty and unsatisfying even when getting kills.
this is the key divide. Realism vs arbitrary effects intended to force a certain playstyle. Teamwork will always win out when applied well in a realistic game. I just dont think extreme levels of blur and running speed debuff has actually changed anything. Its just made the game slower. Ironically it turned me into a bush wookie solo player when I want to go for kills because that is so much more effective now
@HUXIAO0 the element of surprise and confusion will beat teamwork against all but the most experienced squad players (even if there is teamwork to begin with)
The majority of my clan group stopped playing. Way to high of influx of bad/new players which seem to have fueled much less team play. Ironic for it trying to be more realistic and team play oriented. Dead game walking is possible.
its funny how all these PR players coming to defend this update havent played PR in years. Its almost like the ICO like features in PR drove them away over time due to frustration and they picked up squad and are now playing it thinking back to the PR days with cherry tinted glasses, right up untill they get tired of the weapon sway and complete innability for the individual rifleman to aim unless theyve been standing still for 5+ seconds and are receiving a backrup from their SL.
This is also assuming that people cannot have different opinions. I've played PR for a VERY long time, have played it recently, and don't really play it as much as I used to anymore because I've grown tired of the BF2-isms, not because of the mechanics in PR. The update made me come back and actually play Squad again because I was getting tired of the over-reliance on twitch shooting the game had before. I was good at it, but it just made for a very boring shift+w strategy where there was almost never a reason to stop sprinting everywhere unless you were shooting. The game's mechanics have updated. I believe it's for the better, and you do not. That's fine, but please don't be disingenuous with arguments. It actively makes people to respond in the same way, and that's how talking in circles attacking each other ends up happening.
Before v6 I think I used x1 and iron sights maybe 5 times in 1200 hrs. Now they are all I use. Not only can I get accurate shots off in a timely manner (especially after the patch) but I feel I perform my roll duties better cause I’m less likely to get distracted sitting there zoomed in at some distant patch of woods looking for a sign of movement because I just can’t see that far. It’s been so much fun relearning the game through a new lense.. literally. And making the switch has definitely minimized a lot of the negatives people are complaining about. Would recommend, 5 stars
Sounds like they made the game more like my experience in the Army. (Subscribed.) My observation watching Karmakut's Squad videos was that rifles were WAYYYYYYY too accurate in the ways they were being used.
thats the thing alot of these larpers or former vets are going all "uhuh i can run, aim, squeeze two shots off and kill a insurgent within the span of 2 seconds the game so unrealistic" which i find wholly unbelievable because from what ive seen from combat footage, theres actual teamwork and half the time no one seems to know where fire is coming from (suppression) and if they do see a enemy theyre firing plenty of shots but prob not hitting because **theyre so goddamned far away and youre only a human carrying like a full load of combat gear, exhausted of deployment and the adredaline is rushing**
@@RafaleTsuri the game still has an unrealistic amount of recoil like I get its for balance but it's kinda goofy especially for 556 rifles, I mean if you wanna tell me these are like a bunch if conscripts with no practice then cool but otherwise it's dumb
@@RafaleTsuriThere are literal army videos of people doing exactly that. Aiming and shooting a targeting 20 meters away in 2 seconds... The update just made shooting inconsistent because somehow you can 1 tap a guy over 50 meters away but in cqb if you're suppressed you're lucky if you kill a guy 10 meters away mag dumping them...
At release the ICO was almost unplayable. I think the test servers were stacked with more experienced players, so it ended up as an overcorrection for the average player. Before the hotfix you literally felt defenceless, many times when I came upon an enemy we both had to just stare at each other for a few seconds until one of us managed to aim properly.
I think that the issue with the ICO is not the update itself, but how we actually play pub games wether it being RAAS or INV. We still need to rush the cap zone on foot, rush the enemy spawn and disable it on foot and so on. It makes REALLY HARD for infantry to have a good time when it's raining down mortars and there's a 30mm autocannon hamering you and your squad down and this is the norm. It ain't fun. If there was less vehicles and a limit of only 2 mortars per team (depending on layer, ofc), it would be better.
I love pip scopes, I love suppression, I don't like the extremely slow and unrealistic recoil, wepon handling and sway. The only people who think the ICO is realistic have never used an rifle before.
it's not so much meant to make gunplay realistic, but to make players BEHAVE realistically, pre-ICO taking an autorifleman kit or machine gunner kit was kinda pointless, .50 cal was easy to just ignore, now firing semi-accurately and with suppressive fire is actually helpful, you don't need to have a perfect shot in order to return fire, you can suppress back instead.
@dorpy5847 Like I said, the suppression is fine. But having noodle arms with unrealistic recoil and weapon sway is simply a bad game design for a shooter. Not to mention, people still complain that the quality of games is worse than pre ICO. So, if the goal of the ICO was "to make players behave realisticly," that failed too.
As a former Squad player with hundreds of hours, I have tried to go back to squad but the gunplay is simply not good anymore. Its too slow, too punishing, and unfun (all of which are obviously opinions.) I'm loving Gray Zone Warfare because it has the same shooting style that Squad used to have while capturing the realistic gameplay elements and teamwork/coordination required to have a successful mission. I feel that the idle sway is too much, kick is too strong, ADS speeds are too slow, and the suppression is too much. I think the answer to changing the gameplay should've been to do one or two of these things, not all of them. They drastically changed the core gameplay overnight and in my experience I have never enjoyed Squad again, and neither have a lot of my friends I used to play this game with. I do not believe the ICO Update was really needed, and I intensely feel that it negatively impacted the game. Hats off to everyone able to play Squad still and have fun, you're stronger than I am
let’s also mention that you can shoot people in the face, they don’t even go down. they turn around instantly and kill you in one shot. i’ve been killed by a camping sniper that had his bipod set while i was behind him. the shot came out of him backwards. this shit is trash 😂😂
Have to disagree with you, in my experience camping is even worse and armor players are now way more wild lone wolfing, since portable AT are useless now, and get to them to listen and help the infantry was already a miracle before. And since you have to move way slower (not to waste stamina), everybody became sitting ducks while advancing (ironically). Yes, the 4x scopes are a problem, but i think they could just reduce the amount of said scopes, like leaving it only avaliable to SL, one rifleman, and one MG for exemple. And last one is optimization, I was never one to use 1x sights, but now i'm stuck with it because I'm one of those players that got that bug that ads WAY too much blur on the character's hand, making ironsights and mg emplacements useless, and my framerate drops to ~15 when using the new scopes, when it doesn't just freeze the game and I die because I couldnt return fire (all minimum settings). Edit: And as you said, ever since the anouncement of the v6.0 every responce I got from players when we touched on the subject mid-game was "go play cod" or "get better pc lolll". Oposite of what that b*tch MoiDawg said, I already worked 12 hours nonstop (including sundays) for 8 months, went from 190 to 150 lbs just so I could buy a second hand pc that could run this game on minimum settings, I'll problably just leave the game completely if things don't get any better in this 6.0.1 patch
To be honest, yes it sounds like your PC does not have enough for this game. What cpu and graphics card are you running? I have a frame rate drop to ~40 during intense battles after this update but my CPU is the problem, it runs at 100% the entire time the game is running while my GPU is only at ~30% at max settings. In order for it to keep up with my GPU I will have to upgrade my mother board to get the CPU I want. This game takes a lot of CPU. It's unfortunate but you will likely have to wait till you can upgrade whatever it is causing your issue to fully enjoy this new update. I have to say the 6.01 update has made this game awesome and I've been playing since about 2018
The average squad player fr fr didn’t get into squad until like 2020-2023 they don’t know how it was during the alpha days and such a lot of people complaining in discord openly talk abt the amount of hours in since those years but if they were there during alpha they would of seen how it was back then and just how diff it was and was actually like PR these people don’t want to adjust to PR bc PR fr is super hard but I can’t wait to see it stick through
@@Gamescharles Agreed, they need to bring back the power of the Rally though. It always helped to keep everyone together and moving in the same direction. At the moment the SL is hamstrung with the current Rally system.
This whole video is basically “hold down the shift little Timmy and you’ll be able to hit something” no mf I don’t like attacking a obj with a guy down sights with 100% accuracy while I have to wait 3 business days to get my eyes out the mag well because my guy gots noodle arms the size a operator Drewski and gets scared when a butterfly come by
And I can’t tell you how random the gun play is now. I used to have to actually aim when people shot at me. Now because of the new suppression all I have to do I look in the general direction and somehow I get them just by spraying. I should’ve been dead after the second shot but because I sprayed instead of taking my time and lining up the shot I get them. Why? because I suppressed the shit out of em and got a lucky shot.
I guess the Point I’m trying to get at is suppression need to be toned down a little. You need to get you gun ready a little faster. Not like old days but just a little faster. Every thing need to be turned down just a tad. It’s a little to much. Getting tired of “realistic = slow and clunky” real life isn’t as slow and clunky as this game makes it out to be
I hate the ICO, but I think that it implements many good things in a bad way. My thoughts are that the ICO can be tweaked to make it better. Currently all the "sliders" so to speak on suppression, sway, destabilization, etc. are just a little too far on the right side. I don't think moving them back to the left will completely ruin the ideas behind them, but I do think it will improve the gameplay immensely. These things all existed beforehand in some capacity anyway, they just were much more subtle. Hopefully it heads that direction. On the flipside it has a cozy home in my recycling bin for the time being. In my experience so far it has made teamplay worse, it has made the gunplay less enjoyable, and playing the objective less important or even enjoyable for that matter.

I just want my team based objective gameplay back. unfortunately this feels more like a tug of war where no one wins. Thats just my opinion though. I hope they revert the changes about 50% and get rid of the vision blur from suppression until they understand how to implement it better.
Suppression is fine, id say reducing scope sway by 35% to Iron/red dot weapons, reduce scoped 3.5x+ by 40%. and reduce stabilizing by 30%. and leave everything else alone. this way you're punished for run and gun bs (as you should) and are rewarded for being in a correct position, rather than having the feeling of being caught with your pants down even when holding an angle (at a door or something).
@@EpicWInGameplays I think the suppression would be better if it imitated suppression in Tarkov. The way its designed now is way too sensitive and overtuned and renders you a basically blind. I honestly think the other things you mentioned are not so bad. maybe smaller adjustments on those. But suppression is a gameplay killer for me.
you cannot make the argument when a core mechanic changes just adapt thats the whole argument ? so imagine im playing counter strike and they would change the recoil of guns every single week so then you would say just adapt ?
There isn't a combat update every week in squad nor counter strike. When valve update the power and prices of the weapons, which happens every year, well people indeed adapt, pro players and casual players carry on
Why are people so surprised that some players like a more fast paced game ? Like sure, you like your game sluggish in all aspects, others prefer it a bit more fast paced and fluent. Been playing Squad since 2019, and the game is extremely fun right now, it’s creating very chaotic and confusing moments in the game. It’s so much more fun being like “is that guy a friendly” and you both see each other but check the map. It’s also very balanced since everyone is still learning the ICO
As a new player who played similar games like Insurgency Sandatorm and Groundbranch. Squad ICO is fuxking brutal. But kinda enjoyable too. I love the slow paced gameplay which I prefer over the run and gun type of shooters like COD etc. I didn't really know how squad feels like pre V6 but I can totally enjoy how it is now of course there's a learning curve specially when playing with a team and the infantry combat mechanics but I think I can learn it eventually.
One thing I don't like since the ICO is that everyone shoot like a cod special force operator while my soldier struggling to shoulder the rifle... Pain in the ass
Not a Squad player, and I was a bit confused as to why people were so hateful on the new swaying mechanics, until you've shown the two dots, those come from Project Reality from BF2, and it's a big turndown on that mod imo exactly for the fact that you can't have a quick reaction time, and instead of actual physical swaying, you're relying on an "unseen" mechanic, something other mods like Forgotten Hope 2 didn't have, so I get the hate.
You don't have deviation in the way that PR had it. In Squad, you have deviation in the way that your SWAY is higher. It's a similar concept, but not at all the same.
I was on the brink of 4,000 hours for a loooong time but i couldnt force myelf to be interested in the boring gameplay that squad had devolved to. The infantry overhaul is such a breath of fresh air. It has recaptured some of the magic left behind in project reality.
Thankyou for mostly approaching the discussion in good faith. People can think the ideas behind the change are good, but also feel the implementation was terrible. Pro ICO people constantly conflating every critisism with being a COD twitch shooter is really getting infuriating. I play(ed) Squad because I can't stand COD/Battlefield/Battlebit. There are obviously some who straight up hate everything v6, but I feel (because it's impossible to actually know) the majority of those complaining think it all just went too far. Too much sway, too much blur, suppression lasts too long, etc. Hopefully todays hotfix helps, but not likely enough for most of us. The changes I wish OWI would make next to IMO find the right balance. - Reduce stamina drain, -80% for small movements and say -50% for jogging, then I feel the negative stamina effects would be much more managable. Taking a few steps shouldn't drain 20% of stamina. - Keep the movement speed changes, still slowing down gameplay. But please add a sprint feature, we should be able to move faster for at least 30m bursts. Maybe make it just for light weapons, one handed carry or something. It should be costly, but it's required imo. - Finally fix the mounting system for bipods and add resting mechanic for all weapons. - I'd half the cost to resupply or give more players bigger capacity ammo bags. - Wishlist feature, add speed and stance adjustment like in tarkov. It's easy to use and would help shoot out all those windows that are too bloody high. Then there are the major balancing issues, some the ICO has created, but many existing issues it just made worse. Eg OP vehicles, spawn mechanics and arty fob meta. Many of which still encourage fast flanking gameplay. Lastly is how all the changes relate to teamwork with the average player / server. Servers with good team work and communication were good before ICO and they remain good after. But all those average servers aren't suddenly full of people talking more, defending points and planning tactically. So I feel these claims of better teamwork because of the ICO are weak at best. Steam chart numbers show there hasn't been a huge influx of new people or at least if there was, a lot of people have already left. The ICO peak only jumping by 3k or so and already having levelled out back at 14k. Hopefully with time the game does get close to something both groups can enjoy again but until then I'll be waiting for the mod servers to come back online.

Played the game for 6 years? Updated killed it for me. The pace is so slow now that I can't stay engaged. Previous to the update, what kept me playing was the fact it was medium paced accessible mil sim shooter. Team work was there for those who wanted to engage but at its core the game allowed the individual player to make bigger impact. This was due in part to the pre update gunplay which rewarded those with good aim, movement and tactics. I thought squad was a perfect combination of realism and fun but it seems the developers have a raging hard on for larping. That is completely fine but I think its a bit of a slap in the face when a large majority of your early player base bought the game for what it was.
I feel like it improved squad to a level that none of us wouldve anticipated, im super grateful for the ICO, but some people just cant seem to let go of vanilla squad because of the simpleness of it, some people say the ICO is a bit "over the top" or "too hard" or even "too realistic" and i totally agree, but i feel like its nice to see a major change in a game thats been pretty much the same for about a decade or so, and im super hyped for the next Overhaul, maybe a Vehicle Overhaul, or maybe a Destruction Overhaul, im just too hyped to sit still lol, but in conclusion i just love what OWI does with squad.
It wasn’t even vanilla squad tho. The ICO really brought it back to the early days of squad. Playing it again now is a lot like how it used to be back in the day.

The cycle of hating on the ICO kinda feeds itself, people got used to running around straight into enemy’s faces and holding left click and wiping squads alone like that. Now they try the same thing, get suppressed or just outright domed, and then complain about the whole game instead of addressing the fact that their old play style is just not fit for the new version. Some might like it, others will not. That has nothing to do with Squad, that much should be obvious from a logical standpoint.
I LOVE the update, it made me excited to play the game again. I watched other great games like Rainbow Six turn from cool tactical gameplay to essentially Fortnite, the ICO might be the first time I’ve seen a dev team double down on the realism thing and say no to all the nonsense. I hadn’t played in like a year or two cause something just felt off about the game, but now I’m back. They did a 180 and turned the game into the game I fell in love with then it first came out. I haven’t had this much fun since I first played in 2017.
I like this video and your maturity but, I bought SQUAD and the developers turned it into PROJECT REALITY. That is the problem, I'm not going to adjust to a game that I never wanted to play. That's why there is so much community backlash. We don't want to play a different game, we want to play SQUAD.
The point is that the game was already a full release. Its not right to change the dynamics of a game after the full release. Its not my problem that OWI didnt stick to their initial vision.
@@Moofers152 Wanna know why they changed the dynamic? They leaned too much into the fast paced twitch shooter market and almost got enticed by the crowd it offered. This update is undoing changes they made to make the game more fast paced, this is the second time they would change the entire dynamic. This is a positive change since Squad is meant to be a teamwork shooter, and it's eliminating the fast paced twitch shooter aspect and players, leaving behind a playerbase that WANTS to use teamwork.
Out of every FPS style gams I've played in my life, from ARMA 3, DayZ, and Tarkov, to Call of Duty, Battlebit, I can say Squad 6.0 has some of the silliest feeling gun play I've seen ever. Have you ever watched the boondocks? Every fight feels like a N- moment! But I like what they're doing regarding suppression and the other infantry mechanics, but the shooting part is fucking laughably bad and most of reddit seems to think otherwise.
How tf do I keep seeing clips of people with full auto m4a1’s? Is it a special keybind or mod or some shit because I can only change mine from semi auto to burst in squad
they are technically two different weapons i believe. the m4 and the m4a1. ( don't quote me). the SL kit has the full auto version, so whatever one he has is the full auto version.
I'm glad I watched this video before buying squad. Shooters that introduce "random shot diviation" are trash and now that I know squad does that it saved me the effort of getting a refund.
Lmao servers are more full than ever. These people waste more time on Reddit than they do by actually checking in game and see that we all enjoy the ICO and waste no time fighting over the internet. I can’t wrap my head around the fact that they purposely leave bad reviews as a crusade to change things when in fact before ICO servers where max 1-5 waiting queue now it’s like 11-15 to get in. Gun play? You need to be led by a good sl otherwise most of the engagement will end up screwed. Inb4 people could lonewolf a lot not considering adsing was literally zoomin up your screen. That’s not how an optic works , and no you never walked with a 20 kg backpack on your shoulders and aimed , so no , these people are clueless. Ngl try running around with a 20 kg barbell on your shoulders for let’s just say 30 mins and let me know how you feel after .
Another thing I have to say is, even SLOWING DOWN your pacing significantly still feels awful and I have less confidence of my shots landing, especially in close space combat scenarios. Combat feels so random to the point where shooting feels like a chore and I grow tired of even doing it. This is coming from a guy who primarily squad leads and spends more time looking at maps and coordinating with my team. I've done it for 3.5k+ hours. The only thing I like about this update is planning things is MUCH easier since gameplay has slowed down significantly because of the movement speed and how nobody can hit each other after a 5 second sprint. OWI needs to adjust the mechanics, and stop hiding away like cowards.
I'm still a baby when it comes to squad. But I played about 45 hours of the 5.0 game. And I'm not saying it was bad. It just wasn't what I expected it to b when I bought it. I came from Hell let loose And although the community is Really great and helpful in that game, 1/2 of the time, though you get a squad lead who doesn't want to lead and half the squad is not talking and running around Only caring about k/d Ratio. It got annoying after a while so I looked up beginner's guide to squad and thought the player base was way more Hardcore. Then when I actually played, I was very surprised to see that squad has a lot of the same problems. But since the 6.0 update everybody seems to be working together a lot more And the community has been really helpful, I've learned More in a few hours in 6.0 then I did in 45 hours in 5.0. With this update, the game is more what I expected it to be when I initially brought it
I used to hate the ICO, I don’t enjoy the games gunplay as much anymore but I think I prefer the overall feel of the game. As an avid SL player it takes agency away from individual skill and places it more into co-ordination. This can make the game feel frustrating at times, and the ICO did artificially turn it slower but i enjoy that to an extent. Its no longer an easy "quick few games and turn my brain off" its requires a lot more concentration and thought which is what i want from a game like sqaud.
I think that this update would have better served players as an expansion or a mod. Too many massive changes to the fundamentals of the game long after the game has had a full release. This is why a good portion of the playerbase is upset. We bought a completed game, we liked it for certain reasons, and now its a very different game. The update should be optional, so everyone can enjoy the game. Or, refund us.
To still think Classic Squad was a twitch shooter is exceptionally false. There was the first dishonest take on squad. The assessments of what ICO was supposed to do, now over time, have proven to be a big fail. It just made the game worse. Make ICO a server option. People can choose whether to play this ICO trash. And yes, ICO is RNG in almost all aspects. Any movement is punished and the severity of RNG is greater with more steps. 10 steps
@@Monifans trust me I already have haha. You def hold your own with the big guys - just need to get your style and technical skill polished and honed (I do too). Keep it up man!
Squad was more realistic before ico... BOOM you are dead, this is life, you got smoked, should've done better job at keeping your s alive. Now it's all about playing slow ambush minigames with ads 5 seconds cringe
After playing ICO each day after update, I now get the same amount of kills as before. Still I hate the stamina, sway and movement speed changes they made. It makes people sit in bushes which in turn makes boring gameplay. And don’t get me started about close quarters engagements. Most often than not end with a trade kill or a cringe fest where neither player is hitting each other.
I''m glad for many reasons but one of the main reasons im happy for the update is that you cant just bipod with an MG and use it as a sniper rifle anymore.
@@saltminer4463 its not lmao before the IFO update if you bipod you can just beam people from a distance with 0 recoil like your bipod is superglued to the ground sorry thats not how bipods work.
@@putins_hemmy8974 the recoil being so high post ico was bug that they fixed because new flash bipods reduce felt recoil and make keeping gun stable incredibly easy. If you don’t think an lmg in 5.56 is a laser with practically 0 recoil in real life you know nothing about firearms.
The only thing that I absolutely hate the new season infantry overhaul update is it shut down my favorite mod (galactic contention) for the foreseeable month(s) until they update it. Other than that, love the team work in vanilla game plays now.
anyone who doesn't like the ICO shouldn't have been playing Squad to begin with, this update is like the Great Flood but for all the plebs and casual mfers who played the game like Battlefield
I like lone wolfing, but I don’t battlefield it. I stay in proximity of my squad so I can help them, but I usually solo gun fights. ICO has changed that to an extent for me however.
I played the game as a team and cooperated with my squad. I never lone wolfed nor did I take marksman. I just want to be able to see what im aiming at when I do encounter a firefight. Not all of us want this level of immersion.

It’s the exact opposite. The people “review bombing” have been the main squad playerbase for years. It’s a bunch of drones coming off of UA-cam videos like this one who will leave the game in a month that are praising it so much. I've not played squad for a while. And am late to the show in terms of the ICO update. But I bet MEA slaps now with them big af battlerifle in every kit. If the whole game kinda "slowed down" (i'm only 7:00 in as of typing this) then they probably benefit the most.
Yes, they did. I was very excited at first. But once I started to play it I quickly changed my opinion. Though, the feeling of looking through a scope is very good. It's very immersive. However, the weapon sway is just... beyond ridiculous. If you run 10 meters and see an enemy you have to stop, crouch and wait for like 10 seconds for your adhd scope to gain enough stability in order to shoot at least 1 bullet in the enemy's general direction. Full auto? Lol, we don't do that anymore... Ever. They can just remove that feature. If you are a machinegunner, lying down with the bipd, then you can shoot like 5 bullets, full auto. And they will splatter EVERYWHERE. But hopefully 1 of those 5 bullets will hit, because you can't fire more at once. You will hit a friendly standing behind you. It's atrocious. If they remove the fucking bullshit weapon sway but keep the look of the scopes, then it would have been a good update. But as of now, it's almost unplayable in certain situations.
sluggish movement, sway is horrible and sights are straining to look through, suppression is too much making you useless for a full 30 seconds. i can go on and on, but my hours played show my opinion enough. 3000 hours before the update, 3010 after. it’s not enjoyable, if that makes you pressed and you jump to defend the game good for you. i loved this game, now i don’t.
Damn, I normally just call the deviation as "Guns stability" to my friends to explain this new system, I don't really get how so many are hating on the new system
my only problems with the update is how strong vics are especially vics like btrs the amount of suppression is too over bearing not that it shouldn't suppress a lot the problem is with how long it takes to get sight pictures for at, and another thing with sight pictures is it is so hard to ambush people because again how long getting a sight picture takes you just sit there looking stupid as you try to deploy a by pod because you gun is useless without it
FYI - taking incoming via a 30mm cannon, is the epitome of suppression. I had the luck to survive such an occurrence about 9months ago. the last thing you'll want to do, is attempt to fire back, especially if you're in its targeted area. Vic's are rightfully OP, and can be defeated with coordination, its just not as easy. If you take on a BTR as infantry, you will die.
Ah. this assessment makes a lot of sense. I would not consider myself an exceptionally skilled player, but I've seen my kill counts go up with the new updates. I have a slower playing style, and before, it meant I would usually lose to one-on-one engagements with other players. Also, when using long range suppressive fire, it would have no effect and just end up exposing my position and get me killed. Now, I will win more engagements, even when using suppression up close. I can also tell that my suppressive fire tactics are now effective and making a contribution to flow of the battle for my teammates.
As a pr bf2 player, this game will slowly become a camp fest. You’re being rewarded more for defensive positioning and who ever shoots first will most likely win any confrontation except cqb where it’s a coin flip.
ICO summed up, You attack? You die, You run? You die, You defend? You win. You lay prone & don't move? You win. Simple. Play Global Escalation & have a fair game.
I’ve been addicted to invasion after the overhaul. Im a huge fan of building defences and now it’s a huge advantage. Before we’d spend half the game building a super hab then a few fps gods would wipe us. Now if the attackers are facing our creation they’re forced to absolutely hammer us with mortars and air strikes while we stuggle to repair our hab and resupply with armour escorts.
What if suppression effects really hurt my eyes? Its because entire screen is blurred, there is nothing to focus on, It feels so uncomfortable, this shouldn't happend in video game.
Wait... So all those devlogs and 3 extended tests of different settings with thousands of players was still not enough? I know it's older video but my gawd the amount of butthurt echoes to this day

Combat is a clusterfuck. You will dump mags and mags and not hit a thing. I love that Squad combat now feels like a clusterfuck.
So just like real life then. 🤷
You are running around in full kit.

Strategy and intelligent, skillful play are no longer relevant. New bugs are constant. Cheaters are becoming common additions to servers across the board.

This update is amazing, ico forces you to work together, this is how squad should be played. Not going solo like battlefield. After this update I had no matches that everyone were playing for themselves, in all the matches everyone were working together.
I love this update because it made the people who were playing it wrong either leave or correct themselves.
ABSOLUTELY!! This comment summed up the whole point of the update.
You hit the nail right on the head with this comment 👍
You sound fun
"every skill veteran" as in "every ignorant clanstacking pubstomper that thinks the purpose of squad is to supply him with randos to shoot for ego lifting"?
Pre-ICO the idea of crossing an open/sparsely covered field, even with friendly MGs and vehicles covering, was suicide unless the enemy was oblivious of your presence. There were times I had gigachad headclick moments and it was cool, but no single person should be able to fight across the battlefield in THIS game and live just because they're sweaty and wiggle harder than Siege players(no one should wiggle that hard).
If they had at least implemented a weapon stabilization mechanic that passively provided you a stability boost when behind cover it wouldn’t be quite as bad as it is. its funny how all these PR players coming to defend this update havent played PR in years.
Would recommend, 5 stars

thats the thing alot of these larpers or former vets are going all "uhuh i can run, aim, squeeze two shots off and kill a insurgent within the span of 2 seconds the game so unrealistic" which i find wholly unbelievable because from what ive seen from combat footage, theres actual teamwork and half the time no one seems to know where fire is coming from (suppression) and if they do see a enemy theyre firing plenty of shots but prob not hitting because **theyre so goddamned far away and youre only a human carrying like a full load of combat gear, exhausted of deployment and the adredaline is rushing**

We still need to rush the cap zone on foot, rush the enemy spawn and disable it on foot and so on. It makes REALLY HARD for infantry to have a good time when it's raining down mortars and there's a 30mm autocannon hamering you and your squad down and this is the norm. It ain't fun. If there was less vehicles and a limit of only 2 mortars per team (depending on layer, ofc), it would be better.
game was already too slow before the update and now its even slower? BOORRINNNG
I certantly hope, that you comment is sracasm...
Its too slow, too punishing, and unfun (all of which are obviously opinions.)
I'm loving Gray Zone Warfare because it has the same shooting style that Squad used to have while capturing the realistic gameplay elements and teamwork/coordination required to have a successful mission.
ICO, more like soldiers pulled out of the ICU
A lot of the gameplay interactions that OI wants can be produced just by introducing 1 hit kills to the torso, or "downing" of sorts
let’s also mention that you can shoot people in the face, they don’t even go down. they turn around instantly and kill you in one shot. i’ve been killed by a camping sniper that had his bipod set while i was behind him. the shot came out of him backwards. this shit is trash 😂😂
I have to say the 6.01 update has made this game awesome and I've been playing since about 2018
For those that think “shooting at bushes” is unrealistic: go look up drake shooting, a modern military doctrine of shooting at bushes.

Getting tired of “realistic = slow and clunky” real life isn’t as slow and clunky as this game makes it out to be
Ico is best for game and it's original vision, I get more kills now because my positioning becomes devastating as it should be to an unaware squad
Really nice video though. I thoroughly enjoyed it. :)

The way its designed now is way too sensitive and overtuned and renders you a basically blind. you cannot make the argument when a core mechanic changes just adapt thats the whole argument ?
so imagine im playing counter strike and they would change the recoil of guns every single week so then you would say just adapt ?

The moment I saw you reveal the Deviation. My PR memories kicked in
Been playing Squad since 2019, and the game is extremely fun right now, it’s creating very chaotic and confusing moments in the game. It’s so much more fun being like “is that guy a friendly” and you both see each other but check the map. It’s also very balanced since everyone is still learning the ICO
I am constantly checking the map now because I have to think about shooting now rather than twitching in
“I want my videogames to be more realistic than real life” -said no one ever
seems like the only argument ICO fanboys have is insulting the other side calling them cod fanboys and skill issue
And what’s your argument?
I guess its like politics. You arent allowed to be in the middle. Youre either Arma or CoD 😂
In the recent years I got to the point where i am actually pleased to hear to actually logycal speach. Nice

ICO gives players who sucked at pre ICO squad an opportunity to use the get good argument on the players that were once better than them.

A day in and I find myself getting quite a few easy kills on people still trying to sprint around the map, waste their stamina, and then complain about noodle arms just by taking things a little slower and more carefully than before.
Who says these people have any interest in playing a fundamentally different game. Valve didnt patch aim down sights into CS2 and said "just adapt".
@@HugTheSub That's also being disengenuous because there has never been ironsights in counter-strike, only a couple of guns had optics, not everything. Squad has had all of these mechanics, but they've been tuned a lot more differently. These are not equivalent.
@@AliceDerg The sights are an example. It is about a developer going in and changing the fundamentals of a game that has been live for over 7 years. It is quite literally called an "Overhaul". The people who played for 7 years and enjoyed it obviously did not think it needed an Overhaul and when you overhaul something there is no chance that you will please every previous customer. Some might like it, others will not. That has nothing to do with Squad, that much should be obvious from a logical standpoint.
Red dots now are really useful tool. I managed to win 3v1 in CQC just because my opponents had magnified optics for example.

@@JonasGutenwald-yj8th it is a successor, but not really a sequel
Yes

I think that this update would have better served players as an expansion or a mod. Too many massive changes to the fundamentals of the game long after the game has had a full release. It’s literally just a flavor of the month moment for a group of noobs. Which is…fine, but squad has had a core of long time players for years that don’t think these changes were necessary
@@asdfkjidf it’s not just a bunch of drones on UA-cam it’s the majority of the player base who like the ico and the minority of people who don’t like the ico happen to be more vocal than the majority
@@asdfkjidf you must be new to squad, because that didn't make sense to me Been playing since 2020, and i can safely tell you. Group of noobs? Squad no matter how much you want to say "The Majority of the playerbase is veterans and hardcore players." it's not. The majority of the playerbase is New players, and the amazing thing about it is There are ALWAYS new players daily so even if the veterans were to leave and to eb honest with you. I think they already did they're just going to be replaced with people who do like the game that's how call of duty, Battlefield, and any kind of game works if someone gets the game doesn't like it most likely at the same time that guy got the game someone else got it too and actually enjoyed it so it's pretty balanced out
I've not played squad for a while.
If you dont spam under fire and try to point shoot when you come across a player and you are both shooting you will win most of the time
that one clip after both guys stopped spraying at each other and just fired single shot says it all.
sluggish movement, sway is horrible and sights are straining to look through, suppression is too much making you useless for a full 30 seconds. i can go on and on, but my hours played show my opinion enough. 3000 hours before the update, 3010 after. it’s not enjoyable, if that makes you pressed and you jump to defend the game good for you. i loved this game, now i don’t.
Damn, I normally just call the deviation as "Guns stability" to my friends to explain this new system, I don't really get how so many are hating on the new system
they hate change
my only problems with the update is how strong vics are especially vics like btrs the amount of suppression is too over bearing not that it shouldn't suppress a lot the problem is with how long it takes to get sight pictures for at, and another thing with sight pictures is it is so hard to ambush people because again how long getting a sight picture takes you just sit there looking stupid as you try to deploy a by pod because you gun is useless without it
Depends that's why you need your one Vic support or AT but or course if your team is bad your on your own
FYI - taking incoming via a 30mm cannon, is the epitome of suppression.
@@EpicWInGameplays the hot fix fixed most of my gripes that I said
Ah. this assessment makes a lot of sense. I can also tell that my suppressive fire tactics are now effective and making a contribution to flow of the battle for my teammates.
i have noticed engagements are usually closer and i enjoy that.
As a pr bf2 player, this game will slowly become a camp fest. You’re being rewarded more for defensive positioning and who ever shoots first will most likely win any confrontation except cqb where it’s a coin flip.
Lol as if. Had good times in pr with proper combined arms when taking a flag. Or just team cooperation when assaulting a position.
@@orangep34nut13 play it now bro it’s a different environment
ICO summed up, You attack? You die, You run? You die, You defend? You win. You lay prone & don't move? You win. Simple. Play Global Escalation & have a fair game.
Game is just a ton of dropshotting, camping, and stamina abuse. 9/10 i used to favor infantry, now i cannot stop playing vehicles.
