where are black sides of the screen in v5(10+ round bursts from everything will easily give it to you in v5)? another key feature(inscope shaking when getting shot/pinned) not showed
Itll take awhile before suppression becomes a realistic meta. I really like it. In real life machine guns suppressing the enemy are the main tactic behind most infantry battles
0:57 That's quite odd. Shouldn't V5 at least show the black tunnel vision effect thing and some slight screen shake at least (as far as I know this effect has been in the game for quite a while now)? I know you guys are both playing on opposite factions here but, is it possible that maybe the server you tested this in assumed you guys were still on the same team?
Nope. This is the normal effect. There was vignetting around the edges of the screen which is difficult to see due to the cropping to fit both versions side by side.
it is not about stamina , and damage after jump ... it is about that developers try to simulate slow scope to eye application and irregularity in looking through the scope and U just can't simulate those things because everyone is diferent. Some folks can shoot very good some dont. In game time to get scope to the eye takes about 2 secounds + stabilization where in real life You can do it in lest than 1 secound and thats community start to hate this game and starting to regret that they buy it.
This update makes the game feel way more intense and realistic, but I'm not a huge fan of how the guns work. Like your gun will sway like crazy most of the time. And its not even very realistic. In reality there's many ways to reduce the sway like laying the gun against an object like a rock or placing the mag against the ground/object to give support etc. And even when holding up the gun doesn't move as much unless you a.d.s for long. But because its a game and you obviously can't do this they just add random sway at any moment and it makes guns feel really weird because they try to make it realistic but are overdoing it. Overall liking the update tho.
Most of Squad v5's suppression is vignetting which is difficult to see due to the cropping. The suppression effects in v5 were minimal. We were on opposite teams and suppression effects were happening, but the cropping makings it difficult to see. The comparison is night and day@@Aekuems

you guys are actually crazy, first of all the suppression is good in new update, but man, when it comes to the gun, it is almost unplayable, takes waaaay to long to stabilize, and everything is just shaking all the time, almost like im tripping on LSD or some shit.
aaaaaaaaaaand it still doesnt change a thing, besides looking somewhat good and feeling like shit, the very good players with gameknowledge are still the very good ones and if you have a bunch of idiots that cant communicate - the round is lost like before. It was totally idiotic to not fix the long known bugs and include a small ranking system that prevents experienced players from grouping up on one side, where they can dominate easily 50 enemies with just 11 (full squad and any vehicle with a concealed gun) .....its even worse because the good ones adopted the changes way faster and now we have vehicle based games where a single btr can end with up to 70 kills and maybe 2 deaths and they dont even need to team up with the inf.......
I love the update ! A lot of really great teamplay ever since. Armored vehicles are scary as fuck. BUT, we are soldiers .. im sure we dont need to have the noodle arms when shooting
Couple points of view from me (Coffee) i SL a fair amount on the Aussie & Yank servers. Best you have a very good (Squad Leader) i hate this new running speed. Enjoy the running simulator if you have a crap SL who never rallies. Working out how to adjust my play style for the 2.0 gameplay when i SL. I will have to herd my cats a bit harder if running with newbies, maybe use my infantry more in Strikers etc than use loggies when on Offence? much easier to hotdrop on a HAB as defence is slower to react with this new run speed? I will Heli drop more off point, so a much longer jog for the defender to shut down your HAB so happy days that side of things. I think Defence will sit closer on the point more than the old days. i would generally force my minons to spread out when sitting on defence before this new update, i will keep them closer when i play defence after this new update. Sorry boys, drinking and rambling on a late saturday night.
v5 the soldier rests his rifle on his shoulder and knows how to handle it. v6 and how to shoot XD First got players hooked on one game, and then killed it with one update, turning it into a completely different (played squad since 2016 4740h, this is just for the record). v5 was more realistic compared to v6, but the suppression could be increased from vehicles and heavy machine guns and not touch shooting. Intentionally slowed down gameplay and encouraged those who like to camp, now aggressive play style is not encouraged. Some new teamwork of random people on the server I did not notice, all play +- the same as before the update. But OWI decided to reinvent the wheel and made it worse. They are still releasing raw updates as if still a beta version, not release, optimization has not added at all, optimization is at the same level if you look globally, in no patch we have not made a good optimization, each new patch breaks it and they fix it new to an acceptable level. The only playable servers are mod TRI, where they reduced the damage time of aiming and increased a little sprint speed, but it is not ideal.
Nah this is basically these guys going to their roots since some worked in PR before this. Its more like real world 4F tactics now in play as was in PR
There was significant vignetting and the majority of it came from bullet impacts rather than passing bullets. The vignetting is difficult to see due to the cropping to fit both versions side by side
Ofcource irl people smash their scopes by rocks and pute some dust and mud on them... Also when u got under fire irl your head start shaking like crazy 10 times per second. Ye, irl if u fall of 3d floor u instantly die.
Honestly only see suppression being changed. The game still feels the same, walking/ driving simulator with little specs of action. But you still get killed by laser pin point accuracy from guys half a mile away with his grass settings off because he fucked with the files.
The sight picture is ungodly annoying to me the older version was perfect compared to the new version the sight literally goes completely out of view that doesn’t happen in real life and it’s annoying as well as how long it takes to shoulder the rifle my god it’s ridiculous me wearing full gear in real life I can do it twice as fast compared to in game and have perfect sight picture but not in game it’s so fuckey like your in game persons never used a rifle before.
They decreased the mobility too much imo. I do enjoy walking and love the auto walk button. Maybe they’re encouraging people to use APC as it was meant to be. Don’t think that’s gonna happen tho.
if you change your field of view the fartest you can, will look like you are going a lot faster. it doesnt affect your scope anyways, there is not point to zoom everything anymore
OWI makes ICO as realistic as possible. I appreciate their work no doubt. Made by passionate devs. It feels real life warzone. If they make those stuffs a bit more stable (ADS bobbing, screen shake, muzzle distortion, suppression etc) then it will be a masterpiece. Competitive players as well as Milsim lovers both will be satisfied. And a bit more optimization...❤
Sorry that is where u are wrong. In what world where u get shot at does your vision suddenly downgrade? In what world can u not move and keep the scope in the center of ur vision?? In what world can a highly trained military man not run for 60 sec and not immediately aim down his scope at someone 10 ft in-front of him and hit his shots very accurately??? There is absolutely no realism in this update. It is made to force players to play slower and it makes the gameplay feel sluggish and awful.
@@chasegipson3227 people have said this before but I'll say it again. As this isnt real life but a video game, we have to achieve the same effects in different ways; real life if you're getting shot at and suppressed, you will not want to peek and shoot as you may catch a stray bullet. In squad, you cant shoot back due to blurry vision and your character twitching... Same effect, different ways to get it done. Real life, you *sprint* 100m as fast as you can and tell me your breathing is as stable as before your sprint to hold a gun accurately in 2 seconds. Now put on 40 kg worth of protective gear and run even further than that as you sometimes do in squad and tell me you wont genuinely be panting with some sort of shaky aim. In squad, you get a stamina system and shaky aim as punishment for shooting when struggling to catch your breath... Same effect, different ways to get it done. So complaining about realism is harsh because its a game, nobody aims in real life with a mouse :p Just understand that the mechanisms introduced in squad 6.0 with the ICO are there to encourage to think and act like a soldier actually would do in the real world, which is awesome. People in the real world fear death, so they wouldnt peek through suppression and one-tap a guy 200m out in 3 seconds of searching for a target, aiming and shooting. @@yann9915 IDK about you but when I get shot at period in squad I use my brain to not peak again because I’m getting shot at. The blurry vision makes the game feel like it’s hand holding me if we use your logic. With the stamina I can understand running for a decent distance and not being able to hold ur gun straight. BUT it doesn’t matter how far you run I can sprint for 5 sec and not be able to hold my gun like a human. A game should not have to force a player to play the interned way if it’s a good game. Especially if the way to do that is by making the gameplay slow and not feel good to play. Keep in mind I’m still playing the game, I just do not like or agree with the changes and how unrealistically far they took it. All the things they are trying to force are already things a good squad player did, and idc that a new player does play that way because I had fun without worrying about what other people were doing. Now plus the update they just made a slow game slower and a great gun play system feel horrible to shoot. If you wanna pul the it’s a “game” card, then it’s a game let me be a super soldier that can shoot his gun like a normal soldier at least.
The supression penalty is ridiculously high, they should turn the effect down a whole lot.. Two tours to Afghan and i never felt this punished when being supressed by PKM's. I genuinely think the game is less fun. It encourages camping and discourages teamplay as people are too stressed out to think on squad level when moving and taking objectives. People are opting away from Elcans and Acogs for red dots and ironsights... People have lost confidence when moving around. I am one of those that think the game got alot less fun. Don't get me wrong. I want suppression to have an effect on the player. This is too excessive..
100% agreed. New player influx wanting to minecraft building hesco forts and be immersed with blur and endless firefights straight out of trailer park boys. All while not hearing anyone, teamplaying or trying to actually play and win the game, slinging insults like tryhard and codplayer around them to anyone with over 500 hours.
The weapon spread and sway is way overkill. Being in the army 10+ years I can say with all certainty the new weapon mechanics are less realistic. Suppression mechanic they added idm.
Weapon sway was added to extend firefights as tryhard no lifes would one tap everyone in the head in matter of seconds otherwise. It's not about being ''realistic'' it's about making teamplay feel meaningful when working together!
Weapons are swigging too much, that is so pathetic you're able to 1vs1 at 20meters and both of you will miss your 5 first bullets. Same for AT when u're aiming it's almost impossible to make a precision shot.
To me, this was all shooting mechanics. Dying from falling? I can live with it. Blur and shaking after bullets hitting close? Ok, also not bad. Absolutely drunk aim and small ass scope taking 10% of the screen? No thanks, that's too much. If developers bad at shooting, it's ok. But it doesn't mean real military personnel is just as bad.
Bruh....I'm going to die so much this week when I get home. The parkour off a jump has saved me so many times, it will be missed. I think the ICO still needs tweaking, the blur time after suppressing fire is a bit long IMO and the scopes all look like they feel further away, making the optic less effective?
Grenadiers are so obnoxiously oppressive now. Way easier to suppress people with some well placed grenades than an MG, and you'll also do more damage too cause it's easier to land a hit. So little point in playing an MG now unless you want to emplace yourself in the one spot for an entire match.
I've got just over 500 hours. Approx. 100 in heli so 400 inf. Played on ICO launch day for 30 mins. Loved it. You can either adapt to the changes or leave the game. Simple. This change has been a great step forward for the game overall. Congrats. Now let's accept that there will be bugs. They know about alot. And they're gonna get through them!
Squad was awesome But It needs a complete rebuild on a new engine. The graphics are obsolete hence the immersion is lacking. If it was made on unreal 5 it could be epic
A lot of it makes sense, but it's so extreme it makes me hate the game now. I can barely aim anymore. I reinstalled the dumpster fire that is BF2042 after ICO came out to get my FPS fix. I hope they fine tune it a little more. It feels rushed.
@aimankamil4818 hmm. Be toxic that's a good way to keep people playing. 🙄 For the record I have triple the amount of time invested in squad that I do into 2042.
Yea, I agree. Aiming seems like its way too complicated. As a marksmen you have to prone almost to get a good shot in. You definitely don't sway as much as you do with a regular riffle in real life (close-midrange). Just takes way too long to stabilize a scoped weapon. From my experience it's overdone. I like everything else (besides the fall damage/death being like 4 feet)
Suppression can never work like it does in RL since the reason why suppression works in RL is that it speaks to the recipients fear of death. Since the Devs can't kill you in response to your game character dying, a workaround is required. The aim is reality. In reality, suppression works. In v6, suppression also works. Reality is achieved.
Sorry but the suppression part is totally wrong on v5 you didn’t showed it well and ico suppression is really bad tbh but arguing here will just make 100h players wanna tell an expert about fixing this solution
the MLG pro gamer weebs that are complaining because the game became more difficult to play like csgo are so wrong. This mew update makes squad experience ten times better in my opinion
lot of good but also lots of bad. Chnage back the stamina rule or change the run rule like stamina lasting 30 seconds like takes a hour to move a few hundred meters now so damn slow.
The gun handling currently is insanely bad! Coming from someone who shoots real actual guns and plays airsoft. IRL the swaying after running around etc is minimal and everyone i talk to says the same. Even the army guys so why the fuck do they think its realistic like this.

where are black sides of the screen in v5(10+ round bursts from everything will easily give it to you in v5)?
another key feature(inscope shaking when getting shot/pinned) not showed
Itll take awhile before suppression becomes a realistic meta. I really like it. In real life machine guns suppressing the enemy are the main tactic behind most infantry battles
in real life you don't respawn
@dbt2190 that's why being suppressed is terrifying
the muzzle flash of the btr is so big, it clips through itself.
@@Dynamic_AUAh gotcha. Makes sense now. Had no idea it was so little in V5.
V5 had Supressions effects as the Black Tunnelvision and Scope shaking @@Dynamic_AU
Addition of execive blur is a solution to those who gave issues with teamplay, sure.
loving this update, it already gave a lot of epic moments

it is not about stamina , and damage after jump ... it is about that developers try to simulate slow scope to eye application and irregularity in looking through the scope and U just can't simulate those things because everyone is diferent.
Overall liking the update tho.
v5 suppression for rifles is not true, on video there is no suppression, while in-game you always got black around the screen
there is no suppression effects at all in v5, no wonder old players hate the new update
There's no suppression from friendly fire, the poster forgot to make the distinction
there is a suppression effect in V5 but not shown in this Video, it was a black tunnel Vision and the Scope began to shake
Most of Squad v5's suppression is vignetting which is difficult to see due to the cropping. The suppression effects in v5 were minimal. We were on opposite teams and suppression effects were happening, but the cropping makings it difficult to see. The comparison is night and day@@Aekuems
i hate supression because irl u got 1-2 shakes and just go prown under fire.
in game u got 15 shakes in 1 second, looks like im playing as trd person.
blure effect is fine, it's realistic.
you guys are actually crazy, first of all the suppression is good in new update, but man, when it comes to the gun, it is almost unplayable, takes waaaay to long to stabilize, and everything is just shaking all the time, almost like im tripping on LSD or some shit.
I really like what they've done, the bullet flinch in particular is good
aaaaaaaaaaand it still doesnt change a thing, besides looking somewhat good and feeling like shit, the very good players with gameknowledge are still the very good ones and if you have a bunch of idiots that cant communicate - the round is lost like before.
BUT, we are soldiers .. im sure we dont need to have the noodle arms when shooting
to think some creatures out there actually prefer the old outdated version of squad.
Wow they finally added some effects from red orchestra
Nice shot on that gunner in the beginning
dont the screen get darker and a bit shaky on V5 or am i just trippin
v5 the soldier rests his rifle on his shoulder and knows how to handle it. v6 and how to shoot XD First got players hooked on one game, and then killed it with one update, turning it into a completely different (played squad since 2016 4740h, this is just for the record).
v5 was more realistic compared to v6, but the suppression could be increased from vehicles and heavy machine guns and not touch shooting.
Its more like real world 4F tactics now in play as was in PR
your comparison is not right because there was supression in previous versions before 6.0 but it didn't affect soldiers from the closest distances
There was significant vignetting and the majority of it came from bullet impacts rather than passing bullets. The vignetting is difficult to see due to the cropping to fit both versions side by side

Is squad using double render for scopes?
When aiming through the scope, a separate render of the game appears inside the scope on top of the normal render
while being supressed, was there a weapon sway while aiming in v5?
Yep! Was about the same sway as if you were out of stamina
How does your game look so good? Mines blurry and stuff and scope anti aliasing isn’t the best

Great update beside the vaulting thing...
They just keep making this game more difficult
i stopped playing after v6 its extremely unrealisitic.
The first time a mil sim team does what it's player base wants.. Big W on the update.
idk how everyone has such clear scopes.
Ofcource irl people smash their scopes by rocks and pute some dust and mud on them...
Also when u got under fire irl your head start shaking like crazy 10 times per second.
Ye, irl if u fall of 3d floor u instantly die.
That's an improvement.
There are good and bad with v6 compared to v5... make a combination it will be sick asf!
Honestly only see suppression being changed. The game still feels the same, walking/ driving simulator with little specs of action. But you still get killed by laser pin point accuracy from guys half a mile away with his grass settings off because he fucked with the files.
Imagine dying after jumping from a first floor wtf
Don’t think that’s gonna happen tho.
it does, you just have to have a squad lead that talks to people lol
if you change your field of view the fartest you can, will look like you are going a lot faster. it doesnt affect your scope anyways, there is not point to zoom everything anymore

I agree
So complaining about realism is harsh because its a game, nobody aims in real life with a mouse :p
Just understand that the mechanisms introduced in squad 6.0 with the ICO are there to encourage to think and act like a soldier actually would do in the real world, which is awesome. People in the real world fear death, so they wouldnt peek through suppression and one-tap a guy 200m out in 3 seconds of searching for a target, aiming and shooting. It just doesnt happen and hence its a good thing its gone from a game trying to simulate how things kinda go in the real world :D

"people are too stressed out", "People have lost confidence when moving around", are you supposed to be relaxed and confident in war?
100% agreed. New player influx wanting to minecraft building hesco forts and be immersed with blur and endless firefights straight out of trailer park boys. All while not hearing anyone, teamplaying or trying to actually play and win the game, slinging insults like tryhard and codplayer around them to anyone with over 500 hours.
The whole point of the update as the devs say is that its supposed to encourage teamplay. Something it really doesnt. @@clearsight655
Such an awesome update!
Fall damage is stupid they need to fix that
The weapon spread and sway is way overkill.
Your character essentially turing blind after a couple small arms bullets miss you is not realistic no mather what anyone says.
The way they went about implementing ICO is trash.
I feel like the stamina regen is slower too, especially when you are really low health.
I thibk the only thing i don't like about V6 is the fall damage changes.
Weapons are swigging too much, that is so pathetic you're able to 1vs1 at 20meters and both of you will miss your 5 first bullets. Same for AT when u're aiming it's almost impossible to make a precision shot.
I never have that problem because If I'm pushing were we know there are enemies I stay aimed in
When bullets whiz nearby your head IRL you don't just stand there unfazed. ICO did something right with the suppression mechanics atleast.

Good
To me, this was all shooting mechanics.

Suppression is a silly and stupid idea and bad for gameplay. A bullet wizzes by me isn't gonna effect my fuckin vision this is so dumb
fall damage is stupid...I don't understand why games think it's cool to die from 5 feet
Nice video.. thank you.
Bruh....I'm going to die so much this week when I get home. The parkour off a jump has saved me so many times, it will be missed.
I think the ICO still needs tweaking, the blur time after suppressing fire is a bit long IMO and the scopes all look like they feel further away, making the optic less effective?
Fall damage is a joke
Boy do I have news for you
A lot of it makes sense, but it's so extreme it makes me hate the game now.
@@arod88 I think that exact complaint is what most people have.

Suppression doesn't work like that in RL, and they aim for reality in this game, that's why I stopped playing.
Finally they fixed this game
Exactly what squad needed. That 6.1 hotfix though is a pretty backward step. They need to lean into ICO, not cater to yelling children.
So, the goal is to make an ARMA?
Now I realize that V5 was COD but in better
Sorry but the suppression part is totally wrong on v5 you didn’t showed it well and ico suppression is really bad tbh but arguing here will just make 100h players wanna tell an expert about fixing this solution

the MLG pro gamer weebs that are complaining because the game became more difficult to play like csgo are so wrong. This mew update makes squad experience ten times better in my opinion
I actually love the suppression effects. It brings back Battlefield 3 vibes.
ngl, everything was improved except the fall damage. it look unrealistically bad
lot of good but also lots of bad. Chnage back the stamina rule or change the run rule like stamina lasting 30 seconds like takes a hour to move a few hundred meters now so damn slow.
I don't get how anyone could think the old version was better. It's pretty much just an arcade game... Like the MG was a legit laser.
The gun handling currently is insanely bad!
Coming from someone who shoots real actual guns
and plays airsoft. IRL the swaying after running around etc
is minimal and everyone i talk to says the same.
Even the army guys so why the fuck do they think its realistic like this.
