@@SnapStrategyI wouldn't have counted it against you if you bought more ox, I think anything outside of the trading post is fair game for this kind of challenge ❤
I think the next challenge I've yet to see from the early access videos is how you can make the different regions work together. Because each region has its own development tree you can specialise each region. The trouble is you have to make it challenging late game, which seems to be the limitation with this early-early-access version we are seeing. I really hope the developer takes the hint and puts many more difficulty sliders into the game to allow UA-camrs to keep pushing the possibilities
You got this back up quick after the first video issue, thanks. I was a bit confused for a second as we were right in the middle of the action and then it went weird. I didn't realise no trading was going to be quite this challenging in such unexpected ways
I fully agree. The spirit of the challenge is building a self-sustaining town, not making it harder than necessary to sustain the town. I want to see a town that goes into pastoral agriculture as well.
Agree! You should be able to buy oxes! Also little tip, you should move your Ox close to your building space directly as you start, to save walking time! :) Great channel m8! Glad I found it!
Found you through your manor lords vids, great content, good voice, good cuts, as soon as you mentioned you needed subscribers i smashed that thing, just like my dad did with my great-grandmother
This was impressive to see. You were a lot harder on yourself then I thought you needed to; with maximum raids, a terrible deal of recources on your map and having just the 1 ox. But you didn't just survive. You seemed to be thriving instead😃 Your town looked so good. Especially the farms were looking very nice. Therefore I didn't mind watching the first half twice due to the technical difficulties you had getting this video to stick to this platform. And thanks again for your reply in the community chat yesterday. Good luck today with your mega-5K challenge. I am rooting for you and hopefully the game can handle it all 😅
Hey is it possible to do 1 MILLION gold challenge? Fully utilising trading as much as possible like exporting high value goods and specialising all the houses for maximum profit. That would be so fun to watch!
Maybe as a challenge, make a series of episodes where you build, for example, 2 villages in one region, then take over another region and try to create another village there, which will be fed by the two previous villages, and at the same time you will focus on the development of animal breeding and agriculture, which you will later trade for money!
1) Are you thinking of streaming the game? 2) How long do we have to wait for the 5k population video? That's all, hope you get to 100k soon, you're the only youtuber that I can't wait to get a notification from as of now (Hope I expressed myself correctly, My native language isn't english, I'm Italian)
Started watching you two days ago. Really enjoy your videos and your enthusiasm mate. Keep it up, subbed and look forward to watching your vids in future.
I feel like trading livestock should be fair game, since there is no other way if getting it. Also I think for such a high frequency of raiders an early manor's retinue should sort out the first few waves and after that the raiding of one bandit camp for cash and then more retinue should have you set. Would'nt lose workforce like. Seems worth a try.
Ah, the town of faithless women... March, 26 men from 13 families take up their bows to defend the town, 10 valiantly die May, still 13 families, but the pop is back to 39 Only 2 months and no woman is left sleeping alone
...and having never heard of Thomas Hood and knowing of Shakespeare only by name he faithfully strikes the medieval word with his confident sophomore sword...
@@catogumpa1735 Why lol? Yes. So unfaithful better, but still not good since they're dead. What would you have them do? Or more to the point, what would God or institution have them do?
@QualeQualeson unfaithful is synonymous to faithless. Like relentless similarly to unrelenting or unlawful akin to lawless. Now. The point about God or whatever else you say. Is irrelevant to the original commenters' point. You seemed dumb. And now you are scrambling to reverse that.
if you are up to continue this playthrough: How about we allow / accept you settling different regions BUT your goal is to get rid of the merchs too. Cause in a sense merchs are trading while the inter region transfer of goods not so much. That all belongs to you (and could even be made / constructed to be one city / village)
Just a hint if you try this challenge again. Build your Manor House as soon a you can as it will give you a retinue that is armed and armored that can protect your archers
i think it would be kewl to build close to the border of where the most land claims join. that way you could build a massive looking city with it all connected closely. id imagine it would help speed up trade if the land you own trade with each other.
storehouse grannery ( let them finish building before u move on) then log builder, hunter tannery (mines) , then curch, u will be in the red approvel, so its a timing issue , ur 5 houses must be on pause rdy to go, then build 2 more houses upgrade them to lvl 2, then delete them and start spamming lvl 1 house AND feed them after year 2 ur golden . easy
I know these are just peasant levies but a skirmish button should be available when you build like a Martial building or something. have someone train the Militia during off times or something
Instead of no trade, you should do a full development with just no trade perks/talents. Everyone acts as if you need those "two" perks to do any trade. Would rather see a run without any trade perks and anything else goes. More than a bit silly to have zero trade, no armaments from the king, and only one draft animal, and turn raids on high frequency.
Splitting the first archer squad in 2 squads would probably work better for the initial fights. You would be able to kite or tank with one and shoot with the second.
So it seems mercenaries are as game-breaking as trading Asap make 1 bowman and send him to destroy an empty bandit camp Use that money to hire all available mercenaries and have them destroy all the bandit camps That gives you enough money to keep them on retainer for the rest of the game, destroying all bandit camps and raiders Also, notice that when hiring mercenaries, it tells you which province they'll spawn in
Can you start dropping the videos everyday? I wait everyday for this gameplay to drop. Most of the people I see are super slow or doesn't know anything about building a village.
I don’t think buying live stock should count as trading for this challenge’s purpose. I would love to see how realistic it is to avoid trading things that you can otherwise produce, without blocking entire parts of the game (such as Ox, sheep, etc…)
I'm guessing a good strat would be to rush a bandit camp as soon as possible, so as to get the funds in time to hire mercenaries for the first raid. Your own archers are just crap, and in too small numbers.
bro archers only would never work think about it lol also archers are only strong when shooting from height or from behind cuz am guessing the ai uses the shields to block the arrows as they approach.. if u want archers mainly then at least build a manor house early so u get the good infantry units and do bandit camps with those units and build up personal wealth and upgrade the regiment.. its like in ck3 u have to build the good troops before u can defend against raiders and enemies lol.. well more like total war but i dont think u played total war lol
Imma go ahead and say I wouldn’t consider live stock trading actually trading. I feel on these challenges you should be able to buy livestock but no sell since there is no way for you to get them without trading. Trading materials is definetely off limits but feel free to get oxes for your sanity
If you widen your Burgage Plots so that a second Domicile fits on each, that plot will still only allow ONE workshop/garden, which means the half of your families will not be able to contribute to all those necessary resources and resource processing for which you are not trading. you're basically tying one hand behind your back. I'm not even at the 10 minute mark yet. I would have suggested building a Granary before a Burgage because it will protect the bread you have laying on the ground waiting to get rained on and ruined. Remember, you don't get to import anything just because your sims are staving. Edit: Not yet 20 minutes. You don't need a mill until you harvest grain. You're wasting wood and labor. Edit2: You basically make it look like the AI is anything but "I" and that combat is bias toward the player. You seem to always go into battle with fewer and less well equipped troops but win anyway. I'm not saying that winning was predestined, because you still had to fight to keep everything running, but I does make me think that the only was to give the AI a chance would be to make it cheat ... badly. I would suggest a playthrough a little bit different. Not "No Imports At All" but Imports only after local resources are gone, and then only raw materials. So no importing of weapons or armor, but iron is okay. So because there is no way to get additional oxen, you may trade for them. And Hired brigands are basically imports, so there'll be none of that.
33 minutes in and this is a great example of mismanaging time. The biggest mistake by far was building the farms and houses area. While nice when time would have allowed it, it left you vulnerable because you weren’t focusing on the most dire need of the moment in defense. If this was your first time playing I could see this mistake being made but you knew what was coming and still lost focus.
Those spears and shields where not trade though. Cause trade means one good or service for another. It was a gift from your liege lord. By not using them you are rejecting your lord and basically insulting him. Not very smart IMO: 😀
I can't stand your language skill level.... "pick it up from the floor" it called "the ground" ... This is just one of many small things that you call the wrong name... And for me who ain't even a native English speaker it's just painful to hear... Exept for that, good videos!
Sorry about the Reupload!! But next video should be attempting to hit a population of 5k in a single region!
get it on the 1k save

That poor poor ox, literally carried this whole playthrough on his/her back.

I don’t agree with Ox being trading you need them or else you won’t get anything done construction wise.

Well next video we are carrying on our main series but going for 5k and i honestly think we can hit 1 million during that tbh!

Raiders were like the grasshopper boss in AntZ: It's not about food, it's about keeping those ants in line. Also reminds me of Seven samurai.

Really need to hit that fire at will on midrange for the archers.
I know these are just peasant levies but a skirmish button should be available when you build like a Martial building or something. have someone train the Militia during off times or something
In some way this is also realistic since the right to hold a market was usually connected to the right to be a town.
You can control what granaries will take in to not have th eones far from the fields and windmill take in Grain and wheat, for example.
Well done!

Cant wait to play this game.
Splitting the first archer squad in 2 squads would probably work better for the initial fights. You would be able to kite or tank with one and shoot with the second.
