The best I could say about the fields would be split them up into smaller sectioned fields so they would do like 1/4 the field and plant it, which would allow better fallow rotations maybe?Could also buy another ox, I dont know if that'd have 2 on the field then though. Gotta say the early access of this looks amazing but short.

I am asking because I would try to just power through the loss, after all, all settlements in history must have been raided at least once. Recovering after a destructive raid would feel like a great achievment.

Two things, first the amount of people is dependent on manpower and equipment, so if you don't have enough equipment, the unit won't be as big as it could be, second there was and event when he got to town rank one.
I'd love to see later versions of manor lord including different nation aesthetics. Imagine this with Chinese or Japanese architecture and design philosophies.
I hope we can rise in the ranks and become even Dukes and have a massive sprawling city with cobblestone streets and roads with walls around it. Of course, a Castle in the middle with our own troupe of Knights under us.
While not quite as far as you're describing, you can have your own manor castle-ish with (wooden) walls so far, plus the retinue act as you're heavily armed and trained knights, but stuff like this is planned. Edit: Cavalry is also planned, so yea you can have full on knights soon.

Manor Lords however looks like it takes Banished and evolutionizes and modernizes its flaws that the Banished developer never got to do. (who is also working on a new game but updates the public very rarely on twitter).

Know what i hate about winter in this game? Those brown patches / pathways . I mean, theres levels of snow and it very seldom looks as ugly as that in rl.

In the beta 400 pops seemed to be the soft cap. After that the jobs became super inefficient. That however was 1.5 years ago. I am excited!

I hope they put castles and fortifications in the future, even simple small castles and walls would do. Sieges would be high stakes in this game.

Your town name almost has the same name as my neighbouring town in Germany. Here its called Eichenau (Oak Land) and not Eichenhau
