I am SO impressed with this fellows fashion knowledge of fabric, cut, vintage styles of each designer and even harking back to Egyptian fashion. Why is he not top editor at Vogue? Like Seriously, he deserves that job. I love that he explained some looks which I was completely clueless about and love how he's able to describe these looks in a way that is sometimes more exciting then the look itself. Kudos
I love that Doja Cat is allowing herself to be a canvas for amazing artists, including Pat McGrath. The Viktor and Rolf look is my favorite. Love that she's wearing false eyelashes as facial hair. The silhouette of that suit reminds me of the Regency men's silhouette, with the sloping shoulders, the high waist and 3/4 length cutaway coat.
I absolutely love Anya Taylor Joy's tribute to her Argentinean roots. And Doja is giving *ART* instead of fashion and I love her for it. I love Maisie's look. I thought she looked amazing at the last MET Gala, at which so many celebrities looked boring but also ridiculous.
i wish you talked about j-hope, he went three days of the fashion week! on day 1 he wore 2 LV looks, day 2 Dior and day 3 Hérmes... i loved how the four outfits were very him but different (colors, textures, fabrics), i think you might've liked at least 2 of them! (about suga... exactly what you said about personality, he doesn't dress really colorful or flashy, his style is more relaxed and toned down colors, so the valentino outfit was quite him)
Doja Cat went from cheap wigs to be one of the most influential people in fashion. What a journey. I'm not gonna say I'm prouf of her I'm not her mother, but I can definitely say I'm impressed and inspired.
I really loved Jisoo’s look it was nothing revolutionary but it was classy, elegant and pure she suits that dior vibe so much and her hairstyle made me think of Audrey Hepburn
I love the fact that you asked a leading, sensationalized question in the title and then actually went into the inspiration and purpose behind the art. I really do love how Doja goes all in on, as you said "The Look". It's not just the clothes, it's the accessories, it's the fake lashes, it's the presentation. More of these people should be so considerate of what they're presenting
I just *knew* you would educate us on the Doja Cat/Schapperreli collab! The outfit was stunning, and I suspected there was more meaning to it than "fashun!." Thank you for providing that history.
@Hera St James Maybe it's me but it doesn't feel like Korean celebrities have experimental fashion. I don't know if this is the same for the K-pop world but at least, celebrity red carpets always have tame looks. Like no one is going to be wearing a meat dress or that doja cat look.
@@rimun5235 When you say korean celebrities, you mean BTS and Blackpink or you actually know the whole industry? I'm saying it because although I don't remember seeing someone wearing a meat dress, there were plenty korean celebrities who went crazy in fashion in the past(like G Dragon who it's actually the original icon), if you actually check the history, you will see some groups with really weird/crazy outfits. Now since kpop it's huge in the whole world, well, they just go with the flow or idk... It's kinda sad, honestly. I mean I love Jisoo but her outfit is simple asf. Now they are wearing big brands but they are not wow
Tbh I don’t understand why the meat dress, or this Doja’s red look or kim k’s all black look is considered such top fashion. There are plenty of regular people who dress in those crazy ways, and they are considered straight up creepy to a regular crowd and avoided at all costs. If you see a person wearing outfits like those kinds of “fashion” at the mall, you’d probably run the opposite way. People need to stop being so fake
@@Fartsquad_ High fashion is different than streetwear. It's more permissible to go wild and crazy on runways and red carpets and fashion shows. This is fashion as art, whereas streetwear is tailored more for the masses. It's like comparing an avant garde sculpture from an art museum to a nice lil vase you pick up for your coffee table at Target. You can't hold the two to the same standards.
Doha Cat’s 14:00 look is very intriguing from a historical perspective - the high collared white shirt + high waisted breeches + wide lapeled coat that causes a slouch forward is very much 1830’s menswear inspired, while the exaggerated off-the-shoulder-padded-shouldered experience almost creates sleeve puffs, which were common in womenswear at the time!
What I love about Doja's red look is that it's really evocative and yet open to interpretation. It definitely seeps into the art realm because it feels like poetry. For me, this boiling blood look strongly evokes female anger, the boiling rage of women wronged everywhere and the way we're taught to just keep our anger hidden under the surface to not make waves. It looks like that anger's finally bursting out in a beautiful and rightly destructive manner.
I agree at least she had something to day. She had and the artist behind it had it too. Every look was interesting no matter if they all didn’t hit but at least she is researching, she is taking risks so kudos to her overall
HERE we go...🙄😒🤦🏾♀️ A YOUNGER GENERATIONS "INTERPRETATION OF, WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT AND WOMEN ANGRY ALL OVER THE WORLD, BLAH BLAH FCKIN BLAH!!!" WELL..MY INTERPRETATION OF HER RIDICULOUS AND SCARY LOOK, IS THAT OF DAY 2&3 OF MY MONTHLY CRIMSON TIDE!!!
Also, so many people were upset about it because they think realistic animal heads are glorifying trophy hunting, I was like "WHAT?". People get offended no matter what.
38:46 I’m pretty sure Tilda Swinton has wore this sequins lounge set at Cannes in 2013. It’s a great look and we stan an icon who wear things more than once
Let's make rewearing the ultimate flex in 2023 ❤️ "I'm so elite that I actually own this garment, allowing me to wear it more than once." That's the vibe I want from here on out.
Regarding Suga: the thing is, that is Suga for you. He is the more introverted out of the 7 so, apart from Stage outfits, his style is usually on the simple side. it'll be hard to see him in crystals or something more ''crazy''. If you are looking for something a bit more out there, you might want to look more into J-Hope (eg. his look for Dior fashion show).
@@fitzyfitz95 He is the new Valentino brand ambassador. Do you expect them not to invite him? Most likely he was not only invited but also given what to wear. Also, fashion is not only about being over the top. You can still enjoy fashion even while preferring a more classic and quiet style.
@@beatricebaglio5236 I am not blaming him in anyway. Him being ambassador is mostly about money as everything is about. I just think it is a shame they don't pick people with a genuine interest in fashion as a art. Simple does not have to be boring
@@fitzyfitz95 noone is blaiming noone, i know 😊 Either way, it might be boring for you, but not for others. Fashion is about personal preferences. For instance, in my opinion his look was actually good. Nothing too crazy, nothing revolutionary, but still a good suit that worked on him. Not everyone is going to be like Doja, who clearly has interest in doing something out of the box. You also have people that go to fashion shows just to enjoy the shows. Also, just because he doesn't wear haute cuture or something that you would consider "interesting" doesn't mean he doesn't have a genuine interest in the art. Not saying that he for sure is interested in it (it's not like either the two of us know him personally), but i'd say that labelling him as "not worthy to be there" based on a look it's quite judgemental 😅 you cannot simply say he doesn't have the right to be there because he opted for a normal suit instead of a body fully encrusted with red crystals. But i suppose we can agree to disagree on this.
@@fitzyfitz95 Valentino has chosen Suga (Min Yoongi) as a brand ambassador for Maison Valentino Essentials campaign that is dedicated to the brand’s menswear staples. This collection embraces diversity in fashion and cultivates a tailored and sleek line with corporate and street wear influences for the global man. Exactly what Suga embodies through his music producing and past fashion representation work with Louis Vuitton and Celine. Perhaps if you took an interest in artists from other countries you may have seen the correlation of fashion and Suga and the history of the two. He has also spoken fondly of his love of fashion and the impact it has on his music. Not inviting him would have been and incredible insult to both Valentino and Suga. Both are worthy of each other's representation. Of course the looks will not be vibrant or avante garde. It is not what the line he is ambassador for is about. He has clearly worn something that he is directly involved in.
People's negative reaction to Doja Cats (arguably) best looks here (the red and the pinstripe) just illustrates to me how the whole "minimalism" and "clean" aesthetic thats been pumped into young ppl and the public via social media like tiktok and instagram has really dimmed ppl's tolerance for the Weird. Doja Cats looks are Weird but intentionally so. She isn't just looking to perform "clean, rich, blandly attractive" like so many celebrities are (even when they DO wear cool or weird or interesting looks they tone it way down with the styling or the make up). I appreciate Doja Cat's unwillingness to always be playing by the current mainstream fashion rules of....extreme restraint.
it just makes me laugh so hard that PETA had to go out of their way to make a statement that they're ok with the lion dress like that is so excellent and hilarious to me
@Trinity M I also hated that lion dress. Its just too much, like a kid's stuffed animal glued to a dress. However Kylie I think is a Leo so she might have liked it for that reason. And I'm all for people displaying FAKE animal heads in their homes if they like that kind of look. As long as the real animals are respected and left alone I'm good
The main reason why I'm so excited for Oscars, Grammy is because of this channel - only here for the fashion (and for Michelle Yeoh to win every single award)
Doja is a (literal) gem fashion-wise. She said 'today i am not a girlie, i am a BEING!' lol, it looks great in the pics but this must've been eye-popping to see in person! Everyone looked good at the show and i love a pretty, refined look, but its so nice to have someone doing ACTUAL extreme moments once in a while, not just the sleek, watered down, instagram friendly couture people have been rehashing since the 2010's kardashian looks. i dont think ive seen so much excitement and pearl clutching since the Lady Gaga meat dress
The hand isn’t by Valentino but was created in collaboration with Doja’s stylist, the tequila brand Patron and jewelry designer Chris Habana of CHRISHABANA. The bottle is a very expensive and limited Patron. Smart and thoughtful product placement! Wow
Why do people always give Jisoo the BASIC OF THE BASIC when it comes to clothing? Dior has many wonderful pieces but there goes Jisoo wearing black and white almost always💀
@@NA22427 yea it’s weird , they pick the most interesting looks for their music videos and experimental stuff for their performances but the red carpet is another story , it’s always black , bland , minimally uninteresting , if they ever attend the met gala as a group , I’ll won’t have any expectations at this point
Those outfits are chosen to fit with their image. They have very little individual control over what they wear publicly to any event, and *it shows* in the choices.
Exactly. She always gets thrown in a dress, a purse and ugly shoes, hair untouched, same makeup and the look it's done, it's very boring. I think this is the only time her look actually had a little bit of "concept" (it was Audrey Hepburn inspired).
the explanation on doja was so well done, she is an incredible fashion icon that will be in the fashion history books. the comment about fashion getting boring is so true and doja is one of the few who goes all out and just gets it. i love her.
Apple Martin! Jesus, I remember when she was born and reading some trash magazine article about celebs giving their kids ridiculous names. Now she's an adult!? I feel old.
Some of these looks are just fabulous, Doja really pulled it out the bag- I think the Schiaparelli look is kinda ugly but it's also so fabulous and ART that I love she wore it. Anya looks amazing- there's something so timeless about the top, and it's so beautiful. Rachel Zegler's look is so beautiful. Michelle Yeoh is knocking it out the park- it's a showstopping look, but also looks hella comfy- the girl knows what's up 😂 anyone else getting 18th century france vibes from Jisoo's look? Also, I know it's a fake lion head, but the dress is still giving me strong 'look at this beautiful wild animal I killed on safari' vibes, there's something in me that just instinctually recoils at it
I would have to ask Koreans about it (as I am a white American), but I personally felt like there were a lot of Hanbok elements in Jisoo's look, like Dior was trying to play off of traditional Korean styles but in their own Dior way. It's certainly the best Dior look I've ever seen her in even if it's still pretty plain. If Hanbok were their inspirations it would have been nice to incorporate some color.
@Trinity M just so you know, “50s new look” they mentioned is most likely referring to the Dior New Look style of fashion that became popular in the West in the 1950s. It’s the iconic silhouette for women’s fashion of that time period: jacket with defined shoulders, a nipped in waist, a full skirt that hit around the knee. That’s the style Audrey Hepburn wore often in her early career, and might be a reference in this look. Hope this helped!
I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one who thought that the dress kind of resembled a hanbok. But I’m Korean American and I’ve only had maybe 2 hanboks when I was a kid, so i don’t really know a lot about Hanboks. I do know maybe a year or two ago, hanboks that people could wear easily in their modern day-to-day lives was very trending with young Koreans. I thought it was very cute and also wanted to have one
I absolutely loved the Dior short gown on Yara Shaidi. Just wish the gown had been a touch longer. I appreciated Kylie Jenner's sense of adventure but the faux lion head, put me off a bit, yes I know it was not real. The sculpture looked a little uncanny valley-ish. I would have liked to have seen a more "artistic" version perhaps in the style of the late Jeff Koons or the late H.R.Giger, but I bow to the designer's vision. They know far more than I do.
i don’t like the first doja look bc it makes me super uncomfortable BUT i can appreciate her actually doing The Thing and giving the most something in a while
Blackpink's stylist team always fucks up at red carpet events. They always go too safe and basic with the clothes, almost always there's a lack of jewerly, the makeup is always boring too. As a person who likes fashion and Blackpink, I've always complained about the blatant difference between their music video looks and their event/concert looks, their team is not consistent and sometimes lazy, relaying on the girls' selling power. However, this is probably my favorite Jisoo look for Dior, I think it's cute and it goes with her persona and I believe the fake short bangs and bun with a bow it's inspired by Audrey Hepburn's style.
@@DanieB322 i agree with you. They can't be bold as western celebrities... take a look at korean awards! They go for the classy dresses most of the time
This round of fashion week looks varied from interesting to confusing... But in a good way. In my opinion I feel like things are looking promising for some upcoming collections and designs
Life is so surreal. I live in Paris and normal people don’t give a shit what is happening in fashion. This Fashion week was like always, no one talks about it or celebrities there (unless they are connected to fashion). It is like there are two different universes in Paris. The one where people live their ordinary life (family, work, friends). And another one - with some celebrities and fashion.
I always love watching your videos! It's so relaxing and and informative. The fact that these videos are so long is even better. Like all these other videos are like 10 min max.. like you can't really get into a topic. But with your videos I just dive into a 45 minutes fashion world and I absolutely love it. Plus you are super charismatic and I just love your personality^^
I love Doja for this . She’s truly iconic in a world where everyone else’s dress is forgettable and rather boring, she’s stunning , unique , and a gem. ♦️
You missed G-Dragon at Chanel, one of their ambassadors and the King of Kpop. I recommend that you look into him and his fashion. Quirky, eccentric , unpredictable and chic. He is the leading fashionista in Korea.
Kim K can show up in all black, including gloves, no skin showing, and a total face cover, and people laud her creativity. Doja does a really creative variation and people freak out. "OMG, what is she wearing?" Makes no sense.
Why were people mad that Doha Cat didn’t wear eyelashes with her first look? I truly don’t understand why anyone would be angry at her over that, can someone explain?
It's not about eyelashes, it's about the fact the look was intentionally not delicate/pretty/sexy. Think the reaction in Mean Girls when Cady shows up at the Halloween party as the corpse bride.
I think I would have enjoyed Doja’s crystal look if it was a different colour, the red just reminds me of a medical muscle model, or a skinned body, royal blue would have been amazing. I love Suga’s look it’s not high fashion, but I think it is showing his personality and looks very elegant and chit.
I soooo agree with your opinion on the Suga look, the only one exploring his fashion in an interesting way is jhope, his looks for the men's fashion week were pretty good
IMO Daniel Roseberry proved to the fashion industry there is *zero* excuse to use real fur, if he can create art that is so life-like it tricks people who don’t know him into thinking they’re real. People who say he is “glorifying” animal abuse needs to do the work and explain how, when there was no imagery of violence or cruelty. That’s like saying someone painting a lion head, or a statue of a lion head on a wall, are “glorifying cruelty” when it’s just the lion alone with no other context. The context is needed to claim glorification of anything,
So interesting to learn the possible Dante's inferno inspiration for Doja's look. There was a lot of demon/horror in it to me which I loved. Almost like a hellraiser vibe.
Doja is going for it & i love it Kylie is going for it & i love it Anne is going for it & i love it So everyone that really goes for it I love (even if it's not something i would go for , i respect the 1s that can/get the uppertunity) ✌🏻🌺
I feel like Doja will be the next eras memorable fashion boundary pushing queen .., she’s just getting started. She embodies a lady Gaga meets Rihanna level of power in fashion .
I loved Anne’s leopard look! And I liked the difference in sheer to opaque. And call me crazy but I loooovvvved Dojas red queen look! It was ART! Kylie though needed just stay home with that lion head 🦁
Suddenly I don’t care about your opinion on Anne Hathaway’s cause that’s the dress she’s wearing in the now iconic and viral 5-sec clip of her partying in Paris 😂
Same but I do think doja cat's red outfit is super ugly! I know she wasn't going for beautiful but those red beads do look like an old timey plague or warts on a toad and it makes me itchy to look at it 😭 I like she did something different but I wish she would have chosen something less ye olde plague

It also appears that it was wildly uncomfortable to not only wear and have applied, but to keep on and intact for the entire event.
I liked Maisie’s look too! It’s giving 90s punk vibes. I think he often doesn’t like punk styles but I think they’re fun

i wish you talked about j-hope, he went three days of the fashion week! on day 1 he wore 2 LV looks, day 2 Dior and day 3 Hérmes... i loved how the four outfits were very him but different (colors, textures, fabrics), i think you might've liked at least 2 of them! (about suga... exactly what you said about personality, he doesn't dress really colorful or flashy, his style is more relaxed and toned down colors, so the valentino outfit was quite him)
same!!
it appears to be a Doja supremacy year and I'm here for it
Doja Cat went from cheap wigs to be one of the most influential people in fashion.
Doja's first look is my favorite.I love the inspiration behind it and I wish we could see more of this in fashion now than the boring crap nowadays.
I honestly loved Jisoo’s look very princess vibes. I do hope they go more bold since personal style is different than what the stylist put her in
@Hera St James Maybe it's me but it doesn't feel like Korean celebrities have experimental fashion.
@Hera St James 😂😂😂
@@Fartsquad_
High fashion is different than streetwear.
I was relieved that you like Doja in the red look. What commitment to a look/statement
Exactly! Well said!
🤣🤣🤣 RAGE!?!?!? What rage!? 🤣🤣🤣
You had me at “animorphs leopard book experience” 😂👏🏽
Wait, people thought the Schiaparelli pieces were from real animals?? No one is that insane nowadays.
She did indeed!
Luke you neeeeddddd to start doing reactions for the 7 days 7 looks Vogue Japan!!! It's a game changer and would love to see your reaction
@@fitzyfitz95 noone is blaiming noone, i know 😊
Either way, it might be boring for you, but not for others.
Not saying that he for sure is interested in it (it's not like either the two of us know him personally), but i'd say that labelling him as "not worthy to be there" based on a look it's quite judgemental 😅
you cannot simply say he doesn't have the right to be there because he opted for a normal suit instead of a body fully encrusted with red crystals.
But i suppose we can agree to disagree on this.
@BEATRICE BAGLIO agree! Also, he is into art, and likes to paint!
He has clearly worn something that he is directly involved in.
i just love kylie’s fashion glow up, she usually pulls off fashion nova kinda thingy and now it’s more daring and interesting
Anya Taylor-Joy’s outfit looks like the traditional gaucho garments from Argentina, where she’s from, I wonder if it was coincidental or on purpose 🫰
Looks purposeful. It’s got too many Gaucho motifs to be an accident. Very well done too.
Isn’t she British but born in America?
Not sure where she was actually born, but she’s always saying Argentina is home in interviews, and speaks Spanish with an Argentinian accent
i think i read that somewhere her grandma was argentinian
@@milan_b no, she has an Argentinian grandmother and lived there 5 years. She was born in America and lived in England the rest of her life
People's negative reaction to Doja Cats (arguably) best looks here (the red and the pinstripe) just illustrates to me how the whole "minimalism" and "clean" aesthetic thats been pumped into young ppl and the public via social media like tiktok and instagram has really dimmed ppl's tolerance for the Weird.
Doja as Dandy is honestly the image I really needed on this day, thank you!
it just makes me laugh so hard that PETA had to go out of their way to make a statement that they're ok with the lion dress like that is so excellent and hilarious to me
@Trinity M I also hated that lion dress. Its just too much, like a kid's stuffed animal glued to a dress. However Kylie I think is a Leo so she might have liked it for that reason. And I'm all for people displaying FAKE animal heads in their homes if they like that kind of look. As long as the real animals are respected and left alone I'm good
She rly did a "why not Zoidberg" and i love her for that
The main reason why I'm so excited for Oscars, Grammy is because of this channel - only here for the fashion (and for Michelle Yeoh to win every single award)
Dior has many wonderful pieces but there goes Jisoo wearing black and white almost always💀
it's not just jiso but the whole group, they're always dressed in the most boring black and white dresses, they never serve on the red carpet
@@NA22427 yea it’s weird , they pick the most interesting looks for their music videos and experimental stuff for their performances but the red carpet is another story , it’s always black , bland , minimally uninteresting , if they ever attend the met gala as a group , I’ll won’t have any expectations at this point
They have selling power (a lot of rich fans), so they want them to wear the basic pieces so more will buy, I guess.
Doja is bringing the FUN back to FASHUN
A bit disappointed that Luke didn’t review J-Hope’s looks
the explanation on doja was so well done, she is an incredible fashion icon that will be in the fashion history books. the comment about fashion getting boring is so true and doja is one of the few who goes all out and just gets it. i love her.
Apple Martin! Jesus, I remember when she was born and reading some trash magazine article about celebs giving their kids ridiculous names. Now she's an adult!? I feel old.
Her legs being so tan and her skin on top being pale really irks me lol
Thanks for explaining the eyelash facial hair choice! I was so distracted by it
Doja’s look was fascinating and sometimes that’s all I need.
jisoo's look definitely harkens to the traditional korean hanbok as well. love that little touch, esp since the week occurred over lunar new year.
Jisoo's skirt and the shape of her sleeves+cuff reminds me of a hanbok! (Traditional South Korean dress) :)
Michelle Yeoh is knocking it out the park- it's a showstopping look, but also looks hella comfy- the girl knows what's up 😂
anyone else getting 18th century france vibes from Jisoo's look?
Also, I know it's a fake lion head, but the dress is still giving me strong 'look at this beautiful wild animal I killed on safari' vibes, there's something in me that just instinctually recoils at it
Kylie have been serving looks lately and I'm here for it
Find someone who talks about you the way Luke talks about Michelle Yeoh 😂❤
I really wanted to like Doja's red look but i could only see disease, it was pretty repulsive for me.
I totally agree. I am just so disgusted by it
Wow- when you learn the inspiration behind the red look, it really is that amazing.
I agree absolutely, it looked like the top of a hanbok, but with a 50's new look fusion almost
I'm glad you like Doja's look.
I was afraid you would not like it.
She's beautiful 😍
i don’t like the first doja look bc it makes me super uncomfortable BUT i can appreciate her actually doing The Thing and giving the most something in a while
Blackpink's stylist team always fucks up at red carpet events.
They wanted to make her look classy
I totally thought of Audrey Hepburn when I saw Jisoo's look!
It’s not their stylist who controls them you know that right ? At the end of the day they can still choose. It’s cultural, not their stylist
@@DanieB322 i agree with you. They can't be bold as western celebrities... take a look at korean awards! They go for the classy dresses most of the time
@@DanieB322 yup, exactly this. You'll almost never see that be too extreme with things. It does come down to culture

Agreed. Doja is verbalizing fashion. Her team is giving fashion as a verb. The concept is living!
