Ok, I know this is an amateur question; but what happens when you’re lighting a fire in a wood stove, open draft working, especially when opening and closing the doors… is there ever a potential for a backdraft dangerous as depicted in the video. I figure might as well ask here (rather than research and still get crappy info) so maybe other newbies can gain some knowledge.

Are all the spring balances the same size?

Yes, if your window looks like the one in the video, those the same size balances. If you have older windows balances could be different.
