  • Wrapping up the trail building for the 2021 season. This was filmed at the end of last year right before I headed out on road trip. To make this trail operational we built a segment that would bring us back the access road. Unfortunately at the time of filming it was too soft to ride and we wouldn't resume building on this trail until 8-9 months later once we had completed a few other projects. Those videos have already been posted.

    If you're wondering why it's called route 301, it was the first trail I built start to finish with my mini excavator and what I credit for learning to trail build

    Some of those little surveying flags might be a good buy? Can mark in the rain and know exactly what you wanted to do when you come back in the dry.

      I've used them. I find them useful for marking trails when I'm initially laying a trail out and i need to remember what i was trying to do. But once i know where the trail is going they tend the just get in the way when I'm working.

    It would be cool if you went out with Tom Lepesqueur and filmed how a full-time pro/dirt wizard does it or just shadow him and film what you learned for us come springtime.

      I've thought about it! It's kind of amazing how effortless he makes controlling the mini ex look! Its not easy on uneven terrain.

      @@PhilsWorld You look like you're getting pretty handy, but I'm sure you'd pick up some great tips from him.

    I have no practical use for an excavator at my house but I sure want one.

      They are way more practical than I originally thought for having around the house, especially in a rural area. A neighbors septic pipe busted from the freeze thaw on New years eve when nothing was open and we were able to get that sorted in a few hours. I've plowed our driveway with it, Hailey tilled her garden. In the Spring we'll probably finally replace our deck which is falling apart and I'm sure it'll come in handy for the footers amongst other things.

    Alternate title: Phil forgets to check the forecast for 32 minutes and 37 seconds straight. 😂
    I love all of your videos and look forward to the future. (P.S. you should go check out howler mountain bike park in Branson Missouri. I went there over the summer and it’s really fun for a new park)

      The only forecast i rely on is looking out the window. :P

    Man i'd love to have a mini excavator for trail building, it would be hard to get out of it.

      It's super fun, but i personally wouldn't be able to do it every day. It surprised me how much it hurts your back and gives you a headache after a few hours. That being said, they are incredibly useful tools.

    how many acres do you have?

    • @PhilsWorld
      @PhilsWorld  Рік тому

      Its in the single digits but the boundary of our property isn't square which works in our favor and makes it seem like we have more acreage than we do. It's enough to build a lot of cool stuff but not enough to make it public.
