  • It's been 8-9 Months Since we last did any serious work to this trail but we're ready to get back to work. We had already cleared this out the previous fall, but we had been waiting on a few things before doing any more work. But now that the Dirt Jumps are established we can come back and work on building the start of the trail. This project is a quick one. we're just making a quick bench cut on the side of the hill and for the first time ever, we don't have any drainage projects we need to worry about.

Awesome work Phil can't wait until I've got some land of my own to get creative with.

Some trees are much easier than others. When root systems are intertwined, it's far more challenging. Overall this was one of the first projects that nearly everything worked as planned!

I didn't start editing the 301 Trail series until I had the trail completed. I started building this trail in 2021, and finished it in 2022. This video takes place in July of 2022. In some of those videos i have shown more updated clips to show how it held up over time but i made a notes of the year on screen.
The storm that i recently posted was a current event, which i filmed December 2022. Most of the damage was minor and i added a few updates about the damage in the bridge build video. Fwiw The bridge was built (july 2022) right before i started this video but the updates were from Jan 2023.

Hey Phil, love your stuff. Just bought 17acres of hill behind my house and started flagging lines. Did you end up buying or leasing your machine? Next you need one of those 2wd mini bikes they use for grooming xc trails to get fuel and tools out to the build site ;-)

Congratulations man, you're going to learn a lot and have a bunch of fun over the next couple of years!
I bought mine outright, and i lucked out on the timing. The same machine is 10-20k more expensive now 😬. My use is very sporadic, i can go a while without using it, but then I'll use it a ton for a few weeks. I have never been great at planning ahead, an when inspiration strikes i like to capitalize on the energy. Thats why leasing and renting is not an option I considered much. Besides, unlike a car, these things don't devalue the same.
I haven't had the need to groom yet but out winters have been super frustrating. I have been looking at a more nimble transportation option. I dont hate those rokons but i have never really considered them. I've been looking around at options for a few years now, and haven't settled on anything. I might just get an older honda atv.
