      Dear Bo:
All of the invertebrates, in this video are in the Phylum Arthropoda, as are fruit flies (Drosophila melanogaster), which I also culture. I culture one species, from the Phylum Clitellata; i.e. blackworms (Lumbriculus variegatus); and, one from Phylum Nematoda; i.e. vinegar eels (Turbatrix aceti).
Live food culturing is one aspect of the hobby, which I truly enjoy. The vast majority of the individuals, in these cultures live out their lives, without being devoured, by my pets.
Didn’t you tell me that bloodworms (Chironomus zealandicus) appear in water, left outside, in China, if you include vegetable matter? I’ve done this, for decades, in the U.S., but never seen any. Google claims that Chironomus zealandicus is endemic to New Zealand. Of course, it could be an invasive species, in China.
      Please advise.
Thank you, for your continued support.
      All my best,
      Sincerely,
      Brinegar

I have a mate who told me that scuds will decimate any plant that he puts in the tank. It will be interesting to see how your algae experiment goes.

      Dear Gil:
The problem of identifying which species of scud I possess persists. If I had a binomial, I could research my species, to determine the characteristics.
I’ll let you know how this turns out.
Thank you, for your, continued support.
      All my best,
      Sincerely,
      Brinegar

      Dear Gabriel:
Yes, livebearers (and Florida flag fish (Jordanella floridae)) do eat green hair algae. However, they don’t do a good job of it. Several UA-camrs report that scuds are the best algae eaters. I believe that if their numbers are high enough, they will eradicate it. This probably isn’t possible, in an aquarium inhabited by fish, as the scud population will remain low. But, in a scud culture, it might be possible to clean plants, of algae. I’ll share updates, on this project.
Thank you, for your, continued support.
      All my best,
      Sincerely,
      Brinegar
