Everything Wrong With CinemaSins: Inside Out

- With Inside Out 2 almost here, let's tackle the original movie. For me, it's easily one of Pixar's best films, and Pete Docter's second best, only behind Monsters, Inc. And CinemaSins said some weird and stupid things about this movie.
Disclaimer: I don't have much ill will towards CinemaSins, I just want to point out the many mistakes they've made in their videos.

FINALLY SOMEONE TALKS ABOUT THIS. IT'S LIKE CINEMASINS IS RANDOMLY PUTTING RANDOM SINS TO INCREASE IT
He’s not the first.
I mean, thats literally all they ever did. Thats why I dont watch them, there are way better videos out there that encapsulate movies with their up and downsides
@@realglutenfree i don't get it, did anyone ever thought CinemaSins is supposed to be a real critique? I'ts obviously just jokes.
@@lasargentocandelaria9945 no everyone knows its satire, hes just unfunny
You should watch bobvids stuff about them. He has like two or three vids about cinemasins
To add to Bing Bong's death, the reason he disappeared so quickly is because he was already forgotten.
Thats what I think, I think that, like, If you have one of those already grey memories, and a fresh new shiny glowing one, and chuck both of them down the hole, the grey one will disappear alot faster than the fresh one, Riley for sure remembers what being happy is so thats why emotions cant die cause- I mean depressed people who have not been happy for years still KNOW what it is. So emotions cant die cause you always remember them, where as an imaginary friend will die.
THAT'S WHAT I THOUGHT!!
Also gotta add this; he says the five emotions as “four negative emotions and only one positive”, which is another example of him missing the point of this movie! God, I can’t believe I used to watch this guy’s content all the time.
I feel like Jeremy just shuts off his brain altogether whenever he watches a movie.
Exactly. The entire message of the movie is that all emotions are important. None of them are inherently all good or all bad, they all serve a vital purpose.
@@crystalmanta9443 Mhm. Emotions are not bad at all, it’s not about having them it’s what you do with them.
The most irritating thing about Jeremy is that most of his so-called “sins” can be summed up as “movie is happening and I don’t like that”. Like the guy just seems to have a hatred for movies in general, yet has inexplicably decided to make a channel dedicated to them.
Cinema sins is ironic I’m pretty sure
@@jpuc5568 Yeah that's been used as a defense by many of his fans and it simply doesn't work. He's thrown in too many genuine critiques of movies for anyone to be able to say that it's all just a big joke. I think Jeremy summed it up best in his CinemaSins Sins video: he's not a critic, he's an asshole.
this is why cinemawins is way better
ARTPOP SPOTTED
1:45 to be fair, joy does say "this looks new". But this doesnt necessarily negate the point because food doesnt just have flavor, it still has a smell sight and texture, disgust mentions it has a "dangerous smell". You dont need to know what a food is or taste it in your mouth to know you wouldnt like it.
Edit: also, you missed a sin at 11:53. Anger does not want riley to be angry, he wants her to stand up for herself. Sadness does not want riley to be sad, she wants her to communicate when something bad happens to her. What makes this even worse is that joy literally spoonfeeds us the purposes of the other emotions when she narrates in the beginning.
7:12 Also, he called Riley a millennial. Like… if this movie takes place in 2015, when it came out, and Riley turned 12 that year, she’d have been born in 2003, making her Gen Z.
“Jeremy neglects to do research” cliché *ding*
Also even at the time this movie came out I'm pretty sure there were millennials in their 30's.
Also I'm not even 30 yet and even I had to memorize phone numbers at one point in my life
12:02, also, Sadness was explicitly shown wanting Riley to be happy and Fear, Disgust and Anger all tried but failed to make her happy earlier in the movie
Some people just can't understand that hapiness is not the same as joy
The fact that your sin count is actually realistic is the best part.
For sin 42: it could also be interpreted as Riley attempting to forget her first day of school. This is shown when the other memories are faded and disappear, but the sad memory does not and isn’t faded
Actually, they already answered the question "Can emotions die?" in the movie. When BingBong and Joy fell down into the forgotten Memeroy, you can see that BingBong was disappearing, but Joy wasn't.
I mentioned that it's possible that they can die, but it would take longer than Bing Bong. He was disappearing quickly because Riley had already forgotten about him.
@@captainvader921also also again inside is based on real life so we can point out real life and irl they can die and that’s depression but like I said can come back if you seek help to get rid of depression
@@gamerlou754 so emotions can just come back to life basically? That's interesting 🤔
@@captainvader921 yeah because we using real life truth here and that’s how it works
Also forgot about aint depression pills
1:44 Also, she said it smells weird, so even if this is Riley’s first time having broccoli, she could easily assume she doesn’t like it from that alone, especially at that age.
I like how you did this a DAY before inside out 2
I mean I watched it last night so it’s actually when inside out 2 came out
I would like to point out that George H.W. Bush hated broccoli, to the point of where he refused to have the White House cooking staff have it in any of the meals. I am saying that it's not outside the realm of possibility for someone to dislike a certain food while other people still like it (myself included).
Finally someone roasting him
People have been roasting him for years
The perfect sentence for Jeremy involving this film would be him either being stuck with the birthday clown that Joy and Sadness encounter, getting stuck in the abyss to be forgotten or both…..Wow…..That got dark quickly…..
I feel like a lot of the issues he has with this movie wouldn’t be issues if he just didn’t take every single thing that happens in the movie as being 100% literal. There aren't literally little people inside Riley's head making her feel one way or another, they're merely metaphorical representations of her thoughts and feelings. Of course Joy would have probably magically ended up back at Headquarters if she and her family suddenly moved back and everything went back to the way it was before and Riley had every reason to be happy again bc her being depressed and numb was what caused Joy and Sadness to end up so far away from Headquarters, not the other way around. Bc the characters of the emotions and everything that happens in the world they inhabit are this film's way of showing us what Riley is going through.
thank you for addressing this!!! this video of cinemasins has bugged me for years....
2:28 to add to that, the newspaper is literally called “The Mind Reader” which I only just noticed upon my most recent rewatch.
5:39 or 5:40, the theme of the film is that happiness and sadness are fundamentally interconnected. There’s a reason Joy is unable to return when Sadness doesn’t
That Baby Shark bit at the end was genuinely hilarious especially as someone who heard way too often when working with special ed students (it was played a lot where I worked with them). 😂
“HeRmAn’S hEaD” umm no. Disney made “reason and emotion” was back in WW2. So if Disney “stole” they stole from THEMSELVES
woah woah what on the teenage Emma Watson?! he really simped for an underage Emma Watson?... eewwwww..
In his videos on the _Harry Potter_ films, there’s a running gag - if you can even call it that - where he bemoans that Hermione, as he puts it, “isn’t old enough to be hot yet”.
Cinema sins is the definition of being cynical about EVERYTHING.
I LOVE INSIDE OUT!!!! I’m ready for INSIDE OUT 2!!!!
9:16 yes. Thats exactly what it means. Shes making the stupid decision to run away because she isnt thinking about what shes doing
Thank you!!!
9:20 you know how you have a idea but out of nowhere you forget the idea that’s how i imagine happening here
Can we talk about how CinemaSins cut out Anger saying "first the Hawaiians, and now you." only to make the exact same joke with Chicago
6:14 I mean… people don’t recover from emotional trauma that easy. Even if one random thing happens during my day that ruins my mood, it typically affects me for the rest of the day.
Jeremey completely misses that none of the emotions are inherently positive or negative, aka, the ENTIRE MESSAGE OF THE MOVIE! There's bad media literacy and then there's just being willfully blind to theming and storytelling.
Another great video, and it's definitely nice to again see your perspective on a CinemaSins video I've done, and I also plan on seeing the sequel tomorrow and I'll let you know how it is.
2:04, There’s a lot of debate as to what the basic emotions actually are. According to the psychologist Paul Ekman, they’re Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Surprise. Ekman is far from the only psychologist who has theorized about that and there a lot of differing opinions in the psychology community but Inside Out was clearly basing itself on him here (though it left out Surprise.) That said, this will likely be a legitimate critique of the sequel which (based on the trailer) seems to contradict how emotions work in this movie
I think you're over thinking that I am not trying to be rude
@@user-zb3lr5vo8j Everything I said in the original comment was true (and, no, I didn’t find your response rude.)
@matityaloran9157 I'm not.
Trying to be rude here but I think you're also had anxiety when You were Commenting that
@@user-zb3lr5vo8j No. I was just explaining debate about the nature of emotion.
jeremy suggesting "logic" as an emotion is hilarious
Even though you did this because of the upcoming sequel, I still thought I'd say it's a coincidence that you (also) did this on the day Inside Out came to Disney Speedstorm. And just like Jay Exci and Luke, the one sin the three of you had in common is how the last sin removal of CinemaSins' video played the normal ding instead of the reverse ding. If they ever do a Re-Sin of this movie, hopefully they notice their error in the original and correct it...
He also seems to miss that Riley's emotional turmoil isn't actually caused by the move. It's just an exacerbating factor. Her emotions are going haywire because she's in the early stages of puberty.
6:18, that’s actually a good question
2:45 - 2:50
First off, I totally agree. Second, I was half expecting you to mention me again; "And just like my video of your Mission Impossible 2 video, someone keeps saying in my comments that Jeremy wasted 8 movies fawning over an underage girl"
CINEMASINS JUST GOT CINEMASINED LOL
2:17 fun fact, they actually had dozens of emotions that they were thinking of putting into the movie, but for obvious reasons they didn’t because if they did headquarters would probably look like a pig sty, emotions running around everywhere, trying to hog the counsel and just pure chaos and discombobulation so having only a few emotions all allows for a better story.
1:24, The Fairly OddParents also anthropomorphized emotions. Anthropomorphizing emotions isn’t a new thing
I hate when people label emotions as negative they are all important. HE IS MISSING THE WHOLE POINT OF THE MOVIE! Im sure everybody is going the same amount of crazy about this guy but oh my looooorrd I gotta say, this is painful.
2:00 I didn’t know that love, loyalty , and competitive spirit were emotions.
I love CinemaSins getting sinned, lol. Got inspired by Th3Birdman? :D
1:45 in the movie, Joy, Sadness, and Fear have no idea what broccoli is. I therefore, I can see why Jeremy would come to that conclusion. Also, it would make sense why Riley would hate broccoli, because children are picky eaters.
*Ding*
Yeah CinemaSins is too picky
YAAAAAY MY FAVORITE MOVIE YIPEEEE
Fr though I can't wait to see Inside Out 2 on Saturday :D
11:24 She hasn't even FORGOTTEN it yet. It's not even faded yet!
I was 6 when This movie came out and Now I’m 15. Almost 10 years after it’s Initial Release. 1:15 That’s True I played that Crack in the sidewalks Game as a kid. 1:45 I actually really like Broccoli.🥦
Crazy to think it was that long ago. I still remember the ads
Actually the Anger bit with the newspaper apparently comes directly from Lewis Black's own stand-up routine. Or so I heard since I never watched any of his stand-up routines.
this is honesty better than cinemasins’ video😭
He makes these as comedy content, discussing an nitpicking movies in and entertaining way. I really don't think his goal is to be actually criticizing the film.
It clearly is meant to criticize the film. They confirm in the Monsters Inc video that the sins in these videos are about the "quality of the film."
Also, since this is the sixth movie you’ve done after me, there are three other movies I’d be interested to see your perspective on with the CinemaSins videos (two of which are Pixar), and those are Coco, The Mitchells vs. The Machines, and Turning Red.
I'd love to do Coco and Mitchells vs Machines. Turning Red though, I've only seen that movie once, and I just thought it was ok, but I guess I could give it a shot.
Just found this channel! So happy this channel exists! Don’t get me wrong, I love EWW but half the stuff he usually says is completely off base, almost like he’s deliberately trying to force a sin and doesn’t have a firm grasp of the movie itself. He’s funny and he gets some things spot on but he also is off on a lot. I’ve been looking for someone who says the same things I’ve been thinking when I watch his videoes! More entertainment is always better, keep up the good work!
12:58 could also be like how core memories work or that tripledent gum memory that will never fade, from charatcer designs the emotions look vibrant and Joy resembles a core memory, same for the other emotions. Bingbong would fade since Riley hasn't played with him since she was a toddler.
i don't think core memories fade, as they would work like the everlasting tripledent gum memory lol.
13:30 THE SHELF DAMNIT.
This is why I hate Cinemasins, complaining and creating problems where there arent any, that guy is so annoying, makes him look like an old man with a sad life making problems out of everything
4:53, some dreams work like that and some don’t.
Here I thought th3birdman was the only good sinner of Cinemasins. How wrong I was.
I do it too
1:37, considering James Bond was created by a British spy named Ian Fleming and based both on Fleming himself and on Canadian spymaster Sir William Samuel Stephenson, I would say that James Bond is definitely not a rip-off of Mission Impossible. That said, spy fiction is a genre that existed at least since Rudyard Kipling wrote Kim. (I know I basically just repeated your point.)
lowkey this random video that popped up into my recs is better than most of CinemaSins..
10:29, Joy and Sadness are a package deal. That’s what’s going on there. Joy can’t leave without taking Sadness with her
14:06 further, up to this point there were only TWO Pixar sequels(and a prequel) so no they weren’t making sequels to everything. And this also implies that those sequels (except Cars 2) didn’t have that same quality
Even back in 2015 when this video came out, we knew that Finding Dory, Cars 3, Incredibles 2, and Toy Story 4 were all coming. And he was obviously exaggerating when he said "everything"
@@captainvader921 hmmm fair point
8:41 fun fact the color shows the emotions like green is discuss that’s why it’s broccoli and the other colors shows other emotions overall fear that match up to other emotions
Next sin :
Most of the memory is in POV of Raily . But some ones are from pov of 3rd person😂
That was one of the few sins that CinemaSins had that I actually agreed with, and I didn't show it.
I've only ever seen cinemawins's video on inside out
7:20 I see it as more of a meh emotion also I can feel a little happy but still feel sad or mad
1:56 Jeremey failed to realize that those aren’t core emotions, an actual sin would be that Surprise isn’t a character since that is also a core emotion
Surprise could fit more into Fear
What I’m wondering is why we don’t have an emotion for Confusion
The five emotions in this movie are the five emotions that are considered the core emotions irons of humans (plus surprise but the movie creators didn’t include that because they couldn’t work out what to do with it to make it distinct from fear) this is based on real world psychology
I know folks have complained about there only being five emotions in this film but that always seemed like a dumb complaint. Maybe the other emotions aren’t there or touched upon since a movie having too many character or plot lines to keep track up would cause story and pacing issues. Oh wait…..The director of the movie acknowledged it was something along those lines.
I've never had a dream directly about the day previous, but to each their own LOL
And at the end of the day, both this and the video it's based on aren't serious so it's all good.
12:49 2 things
1 he already was dying in the first place
2 again emotions can die however they can come back like I said that’s depression you can get help and not be depressed and your emotions can come back so they can die but come back
1:46 fear said the broccoli looked new.
That the point it wouldn’t really fix that problem 6:08 to 6:21
6:13 That's actually a good point.
6:08 i remember watching a UA-camr who did the same video and actually removed a sins saying he agreed however a different one added a sins saying “that never happened” however lets puts this claim to see so if this did happen it wont work because joy will never learn a lesson at all also irl this happened to me but you still would feel sort of meh or a mix emotions it would not fix anything i think it would make it worse and even more complicated and ruin the point of the movie about letting go and changing
4:04 when I used to like broccoli, i would get a broccoli pizza when we got one from pizza hut from that one reading thing
I didn't take a single bite
Just because you like something doesn't mean you like it on pizza.
I could go on more but I've made my point
love this. I hate cinema sins because all the ‘points’ he makes don’t make any sense. He just yaps and makes horrible points for good movies.
11:21 also you can force yourself to forget something like how I’m going to force myself to forget this sin
1:12 Wait… so that wasn’t just me as a kid? So how come my family was always having a go at me for it, and saying I had OCD?
Me and my siblings used to do that, so that's how I know
You actually cooked him bro I respect it
I think way too frequently about how annoying it is that he sins the movie several times for the emotions talking about Riley like their child or close friends.
I like inside out but it's just not a movie that i consider the best Pixar movie probably because i watched cars more and i like the message in that movie so much and also i just think that the characters in that movie are slightly better.
7:36, also, they don’t succeed in the “stay happy” goal.
5:56 who said they was negative they all play a part to help her fear was literally shown trying to help her by making her step over the Cable sadness helps her by letting her out and gets stressed off her chest angry helps her show other peoples her feelings disgust shown that it can help her not eat something she don’t like they all play a part in a good way so negative emotions makes no sense here
Can faded memories be played at HQ? How did they make Riley see Bing Bong when she was little? Why didn’t Fear just play the hockey memories like they do with any memory? Why didn’t they just send the core memories up to HQ like they did with that gum commercial? Why am I asking do many questions?
1. I don't think so, otherwise, why would they be throwing them away?
2. There was a scene where Joy makes Riley imagine that the floor is lava by pressing a few buttons. So that should give you an idea
3. Hockey Island is down, and there needs to be a memory inside the carrier. That wouldn't have worked
4. I had wondered that myself after seeing HISHE's video, but then I thought about it, at that point in the movie, Joy thinks that only she can fix this, so she doesn't trust the other three emotions that are still up there
So they can play the gum commercial with the islands down but not any memory that has to do with each island?
What does the gum commercial have anything to do with any of the islands? And they could try grabbing memories that related to them, but they need the CORE memories to turn them back on
10:47, I’m surprised you didn’t say “arbitrary movie reference” (assuming CinemaSins was referring to The Neverending Story movie rather than the original book.)
I honestly didn't know that was a reference, since I don't know anything about Neverending Story
@@captainvader921 In The Neverending Story by Michael Ende and its movie adaptation Fantastica (Fantasia in the movie) is being slowly devoured by a force of pure nothingness that is known only as The Nothing since every description the characters can find for it would be something while it isn’t that, it’s nothing. So when Jeremy Scott brings up “The Nothing” that’s a reference to The Neverending Story. (Also, when he mentions Artax in his Puss in Boots 2 video, it’s a reference to The Neverending Story.)
u do know it's meant to be adding random sins for comedic effect he doesn't actually believe most of the things or there just nitpicks. he also has a second channel were he shows how much he actually loves the movie
Why is Riley a milennial? Was this ever established? I think I was around the same age as Riley when the movie came out, and I'm not a milennial
He probably thinks “millennial” means someone born (or at least grew up) in the new millennium. I know I thought that when I first heard the term in his video.
11:56 that’s claim is bs the reason why is because they all help when it comes to her like sadness help her feel better fear stops her form getting hurt they all help they not trying to make her sad or mad
Ice age 2 please
i know it’s just a joke but cinemasins just adds them for no reason
Cackling right now
0:41 true
alternative title: correcting a guy who whines abt kids movies
3:42 Bruh, Riley’s a *kid.* You really think she knows or cares about this stuff? My parents have been working in real estate since I was a kid, and even knowing this stuff as an adult, it rarely even crosses my mind.
All this to say, how’s Riley meant to know houses have different pricing in different cities? Even if she saw that _SpongeBob_ episode where Sandy specifically says it’s all about location, she’d probably just assume Sandy was talking about, like, different environments or terrain or something, not just a different city or different parts of the city.
I LOVE YOU
😂😂😂
Cinemasins your job is over
12:37, has that happened in any other movie?
I WAS LOOKING FOR CINEMA SIN SINS IS THIS IT OR IS IT A DIFF ACC
If you're referring to Jay Exci, then no, I'm not him. But I do very similar videos to what he used to do
I have always loved broccoli 🥦 (my father was a green grocer)
I will admit, I'm not partial to inside out, it's okay but very flawed, Jeremy is the type of person however that's so obscenely inept at critiquing films I'll probably find myself defending it from his poorly composed criticism
