Hiiiii as a TRUE Lanzhouese, I really wanna say thank you for making this wonderful video, it’s literally bringing my nostalgia out since I move to Switzerland and haven’t been backed to home for 2 years .... I used to have 牛肉面 as Brunch during morning classes break with my bestie in high school everyday. I witnessed the beef noodles raised it price from 2.5 Yuan (≈0.3 Euro, when beginning of 21st Centuries ) to 7 Yuan (0.87 Euro, since maybe 5 years ?) per bowl, however, it is still the most intimate food in the hearts of Lanzhou people. ✨✨
Been living in Sydney for half a year now and 1915 has become one of my favorite Chinese restaurants because the flavor of the ramen is sooo good and authentic. Their take-away food is also amazing and is my comfort food during the lockdown here. Thanks for the video, Amy!
I am new to Sydney. This is definitely the best UA-cam Channel introducing all the good Chinese restaurant in Sydney. I am going to try the noodles tomorrow! Thanks for sharing.

Amy, first of all your dad is hilarious lol. The father-daughter dynamic in these videos is pretty cool to watch. It has been a pleasure to follow your UA-cam journey from a few thousand subs to this point, and looking forward to more. 😊 It's also heartwarming to see the Chinese culture being embraced by someone like yourself who then shares it to a large audience base. I spent my teenage years in the early 90s in Melbourne and unfortunately back then this was not the case. In fact, as a young Taiwanese I saw our culture being rejected at the time. As a result, my family left OZ for good in the mid 90s. Last year, I returned for the first time to my 25 year high school reunion, only to find a much different Melbourne. While the city has always been multicultural, it seems like all cultures are finally being celebrated now. Anyway, my point is that while these videos are very entertaining, they serve a much grander purpose. You're creating a better understand and appreciation, and more importantly bridging the gap, through humour and food, in a time when politics across the world is quite tainted with hatred. Good job on being a cultural ambassador of the East and West! 👍
Your Chinese is so good, I really respect anyone who speaks Chinese as a second language because it is immensely difficult. Like, if you can put your mind into speaking Chinese you can do anything else you want.
Your dad is so freakin cool. I love the relationship dynamic you have with him. You are so lucky to have such an amazing person in your life. Hope we get to see more cameos from him in future x

Thank you for making another video about Lanzhou beef noodles! I couldn't find any authentic Lanzhou beef noodle restaurants in the US. Knowing that it exists in Australia makes me so jealous. Again thank you so much for making my hometown known to more people!
This is such a lovely video. Thank you so much for recommending the food to people. This lovely food does not only belong to China but also belongs to the whole world, most importantly, it belongs to everyone in the world and as long as you want, you can get access to it.
Thanks for letting more people know about the super delicious Chinese version of ramens: 兰州拉面! Here in the United States Japanese ramens are way more popular than LANZHOU beef noodles, I hope authentic Chinese noodles and food in general can earn as much respect as Japanese cuisine someday among westerners.
Hi Amy, your videos just made my day! You don't just know the food, but the culture behind it. Soooo nice to see you have such supportive families. Your parents are very adorable. Stay safe and keep posting!
Very eye opening when you said the lanzhou noodles is the most difficult to master in the Chinese Cuisine!! Never thought about it this way, but now you put it like this, what you said is true!
Thanks so much for this video! I love that you unpacked so much of the complexities of this dish, including the different shapes and sizes of the noodles, ingredients of the noodle that make it so unique and tasty and the soup! Every part of this dish contributes to the taste and experience! Love that you interviewed the staff and chefs to bring us an authentic view into this noodle mastery! Your passionate, open minded and bubbly energy is amazing too.
I had primary school in Australia for a year, when the teacher asked the class what's our favorite food, I said beef noodles. Everyone laughed, and I was confused on what was so funny. Looking back, they probably thought China was very poor and people can't afford beef, and misunderstood it that I like beef noodles because I don't get to eat beef. Non of my fellow class mate or my teachers were racist ofc, they were fun and kind, but it is interesting how little primary school children, already has developed negative views on China
Little western kids In Australia probably thought that beef noodles meant noodles made out of beef (which doesn’t make sense in little kid minds), not that Chinese people are too poor to eat beef.
I watched so many of your videos traveling in China and felt that you were very far from me. Until you visited Burwood! Suddenly I feel that you're so close to us as I just went there to buy some buns for breakfast a few days ago.
i love this noodle so much, when i ordered extra extra large bowl, they had to use 2 bowls to bring them to me. to get the most texture, try wide version.
Yeah Lan zhou lamian! my favourite noodles dish above all! (sry 刀削面 but you're so close to the top 1😁) this resturant seems pretty authentic as well. Personally I like to put a lot of coriander & spring onion, no spicy oil but hella vinegar in it. so appetizing!
What a great video Blondie. It was really interesting.... I didn’t know that’s how you make la mian! It’s great your dad had a go ... it’s great he wants to learn mandarin. I’m so impressed! I didn’t realise how they make the soup. I must try that next time in Melbourne... we usually stay in Burswood. It’s great to hear you speaking Mandarin too. It’s very helpful for me learning it. Keep it up
I read somewhere that the authentic name for this noodle is 兰州牛肉面 - Lanzhou Beef noodles instead of 兰州拉面 Lanzhou La Mian. All the Lanzhou La Mian shops are found outside of Lanzhou, many not even operated by people from that regaion. They branded it as 兰州拉面 because noodle pulling attracts eyeballs thus more business. But I guess naming is not that important, because this one you found, as you said is really authentic.
yes. in Lanzhou, every one 牛肉面 or 牛大碗。 拉面 is never used in Lanzhou. As long as it is called “拉面”in shop signboard, it means it is not the traditional way or taste of Lanzhou beef noodle. most of them are made by Qinghai people. They cook beef noodle differently and use “Lanzhou" name as branding. Looking for restaurant with signboard “兰州清真牛肉面” or just "清真牛肉面", it will be higher chance for you to get taste closer to original if you want the original taste.
Hey Amy I reckon you should definitely visit Xinjiang given that you love aromatic, strong flavor food! I was born in Urumqi and now living in Melbourne. Happy to take you to my favorite Uyghur restaurant if you ever come down to Melbourne. Or I’d love to recommend a few authentic Uyghur/Xinjiang local specialties if you like 😝
