This doctor has probably just done the best job of describing Shingles I’ve heard. My own doctor didn’t explain it this well! Which is why I am here looking for more information. Shingles is no joke! Hurts like hell.

Nancy unfortunately your story sounds like mine In April 2020 I had a severe case of shingles and I’m still after almost 3 years suffering from Post Herpetic Neuralgia. At the time there was Covid so I couldn’t go to the doctor. They gave me pain medicine. I still feel the pain but not as bad. The medicine 6:24 has its problems too. My pain management doctor just told me he is not treating my type of pain anymore and referred me to other pain management offices. I wish I could go to someone that knows more about shingles.

Last year around this time I had shingles. The first 2 weeks I didn't sleep or eat because of the pain, I was a disaster not coping at all. I discovered then I am insensible for Tramadol even in very high doses or the prescriptions for shingles. Ibuprofen in max doses however, eased the pain a bit. Now a year later I still have nerve pain and sometimes it is very bad. In my life I experienced a spontaneous pneumothorax and gave birth to 2 children. None of these pains even tips the pain of shingles.
I had all the symptoms before I discovered the rash on my thigh. I immediately covered the area with honey, wrapped it in gauze, and the next morning the 'bubbles' were gone. The rash never itched. However, the pain in my thigh muscles, around my hip and knee were severe, At some point areas in my thigh felt numb.

Someone in my family is dealing with this and while it does hurt a lot but your NOT alone. Talk to your doctor and get treatment, take an oatmeal bath, this will help ease some of the pain. Take your vitamins EVERYDAY to protect your immune system.Feel better soon
Im 24 yrs old and i experienced shingles. To describe the pain, i would not wish the pain upon anyone. ITS SOOO painful, i cant even walk for a week. Its true that it feels like someone is stabbing you from the inside. It hurts when im hit with the electric fan or even with the AC. Most days i cannot breath properly and when i do, i hurts a lot so i was beside my nebuliser all the time. Another thing also, everytime i pee, i get goosebumps and when i do, the pain is like some one is hacking my hip bones and joints. I cannot eat i cannot sleep. So i had to extend my medication with acyclovir and pain killers. The wost part is nobody knows what was happening because i was in my dorm and i dont want to bother people. So i found out it was actually shingles like after a week of suffering from it.

So I haven't have the pain before I got shingles, and why can't younger people get the vaccine for it, it happens in young people to. Stress by the sounds of it caused mine, and a strip its more like a circle with the bump for me anyway. Hurts and stings though.
I got shingles in March 2017 on my shoulder I was 54 years old and I still have the pain so bad it burns, hurts so bad still and it itches as well and I wish it would go away it’s been almost 3 years.

I'm 55 and I had this rash appear Wednesday night. At first it was itchy, but by the next day , it turned to pain. I held out until Friday, when I finally had to take off work and go to Urgent Care just to be told that I had shingles. The rash is all on my right side , under my breast and wrapped around to the side. I am on an antiviral medication and Gabapentin for pain, which does not help the pain much. I keep getting jolts of pain off and on and it is very painful and sometimes takes my breath away.

Sorry I accidentally replied to a different question. Yes I do still have it and have had 8 outbreaks since Feb 2019. Most of the rashes have been on the original areas but three have been in different areas once on the other side of my body.
The doctor said that when you get shingles you will only get it on one side of your body. Guess what folks that's not true! I got shingles on both sides of my body in fact it's all over my body. So if a doctor tells you you only get it on one side that's crap. You can get shingles on both sides of your body.😐

Well I’m 49 and ouch I got it on my thigh at the moment. It sucks big time. So mad it came out before I’m eligible for the vaccine. They should give the vaccine to every adult who had chicken pox regardless of age. Why should people under 50 have to suffer. I’m just glad it isn’t on my torso . I didn’t get the stabling feeling prior to the welts. I actually thought it was my back pain issue getting worse. Then that pain moved to my thigh and the welts appeared about 7bdays after pain onset.

I am 29 , i have been really stressed out lately and got a weird mild rash on my forehead, i thought maybe it was just contact dermatitis since ive been changing my cleansers. It looked like a mild rash but nothing like the blisters you see when you google image shingles. Friday I had a really bad headache, super painful, migrane , i assumed I was getting a headcold , i was taking 4 pills of vitamin c 500mg each everyday for 3 days before i got dianosed, friday my head was insanely itchy, it felt like mosquito bites, or when you get a sunburn and it blisters, friday night it started to spread on one of my eyebrows so by fluke i went to the walk in clinic 20-0 minutes before close, sure enough diagnosed with shingles. It got insanely itchy though almost like a sunburn or hair on your face kindve feeling but cant touch it.
I’ve had shingles twice and both times use the antiviral drug valaciclovir or a cycle of ear and I’m telling you What time does symptoms in the initial days were pretty awful but they cleared up within a week and went away I don’t see what the big deal about this is

Same here left butt cheek ankle and big toe . Tingling and spasm in left thigh. Burning and irritating feeling under big toe. Post pain is there walking is awkward seems off balance a bit. I’ve been quarantined for 7 days. All blisters are gone except the biggest one. Still hasn’t dried or burst. Worried about that one but will give it time
I have the Shingles rash on my right leg from calf to lower back including buttocks and thigh. There is also a rash on the bottom of my right foot. The pain moves up and down the back of my legs and lower back. It's been a constant battle with pain management. The rash is drying up but I'm afraid the pain will linger. BTW For anyone willing to try, I have used Diatomaceous Earth, DE, as a kind of drying talc on the rash. Seems to work for me. Also, one time I used Windex (yes!) spray 3 X a day. I had heard this is what is recommended as topical treatment for jellyfish stings which have a similar neurologic burning pain sensation. So please try and report back. May be a simple way to curtail the suffering.

I got this painful, tender itch on my left hairline. Next day, it was a blister and 5 more blisters followed it on my face. Unable to see Dr until 3/10 so i am using anti-itch cream, hydrogen peroxide, and diluted rubbing alcohol. The pain is so horrible, I just want to die.
Take garlic pills 2pills 2x a day. Use Aloe Vera(pure) of face / hairline or apple cider vinegar with mother/ 2 tsp to 8oz water or apply strait topically. I've been panicking because I've had the numbness and skin pain for two weeks. I was treating it as a fungus infection as it was on the left side of my groin. My massage therapist said the numbness in my leg was from the fungus damaging the nerves. Went to clinic and doc said shingles and the small white bubbles should turn red and blister. Day four of Valtrex. No blisters. New stabbing pain on same side in outer buttons and inner thigh. I feel like crap. How long did it last? Do you have any pain still? Im 24 yrs old and i experienced shingles. To describe the pain, i would not wish the pain upon anyone. ITS SOOO painful, i cant even walk for a week. Its true that it feels like someone is stabbing you from the inside. It hurts when im hit with the electric fan or even with the AC. Most days i cannot breath properly and when i do, i hurts a lot so i was beside my nebuliser all the time. Another thing also, everytime i pee, i get goosebumps and when i do, the pain is like some one is hacking my hip bones and joints. I cannot eat i cannot sleep. So i had to extend my medication with acyclovir and pain killers. The wost part is nobody knows what was happening because i was in my dorm and i dont want to bother people. So i found out it was actually shingles like after a week of suffering from it.
I am going crazy. At least I found someone to properly explain this

So I haven't have the pain before I got shingles, and why can't younger people get the vaccine for it, it happens in young people to. Stress by the sounds of it caused mine, and a strip its more like a circle with the bump for me anyway. Hurts and stings though.

I'm 55 and I had this rash appear Wednesday night. At first it was itchy, but by the next day , it turned to pain. I held out until Friday, when I finally had to take off work and go to Urgent Care just to be told that I had shingles. The rash is all on my right side , under my breast and wrapped around to the side. I am on an antiviral medication and Gabapentin for pain, which does not help the pain much. I keep getting jolts of pain off and on and it is very painful and sometimes takes my breath away.
Yep, i got it too. In July 2022! I'm barely over it.pain stopped now i have tingly in my right lower leg, and unbearable itching!😑😔

Sorry I accidentally replied to a different question. Yes I do still have it and have had 8 outbreaks since Feb 2019. Most of the rashes have been on the original areas but three have been in different areas once on the other side of my body.
The doctor said that when you get shingles you will only get it on one side of your body. Guess what folks that's not true! I got shingles on both sides of my body in fact it's all over my body. So if a doctor tells you you only get it on one side that's crap. You can get shingles on both sides of your body.😐

Well I’m 49 and ouch I got it on my thigh at the moment. It sucks big time. So mad it came out before I’m eligible for the vaccine. They should give the vaccine to every adult who had chicken pox regardless of age. Why should people under 50 have to suffer. I’m just glad it isn’t on my torso . I didn’t get the stabling feeling prior to the welts. I actually thought it was my back pain issue getting worse. Then that pain moved to my thigh and the welts appeared about 7bdays after pain onset.

I am 29 , i have been really stressed out lately and got a weird mild rash on my forehead, i thought maybe it was just contact dermatitis since ive been changing my cleansers. It looked like a mild rash but nothing like the blisters you see when you google image shingles.

As soon as my eyebrow got itchy I went to the doctor and sure enough I was diagnosed. Look up shingles on forehead mine was very mild. It got insanely itchy though almost like a sunburn or hair on your face kindve feeling but cant touch it.

I’ve had shingles twice and both times use the antiviral drug valaciclovir or a cycle of ear and I’m telling you What time does symptoms in the initial days were pretty awful but they cleared up within a week and went away I don’t see what the big deal about this is

Same here left butt cheek ankle and big toe . Tingling and spasm in left thigh. Burning and irritating feeling under big toe. Post pain is there walking is awkward seems off balance a bit. I have the Shingles rash on my right leg from calf to lower back including buttocks and thigh. There is also a rash on the bottom of my right foot. The pain moves up and down the back of my legs and lower back. It's been a constant battle with pain management. The rash is drying up but I'm afraid the pain will linger. Two weeks now and still dealing with the worst pain ever. I would rather be in labor at least the pain would be over and I would get a baby for all my trouble. Good luck fighting the pain.

BTW For anyone willing to try, I have used Diatomaceous Earth, DE, as a kind of drying talc on the rash. Seems to work for me. Also, one time I used Windex (yes!) spray 3 X a day. I had heard this is what is recommended as topical treatment for jellyfish stings which have a similar neurologic burning pain sensation. So please try and report back. May be a simple way to curtail the suffering.

I got this painful, tender itch on my left hairline. Next day, it was a blister and 5 more blisters followed it on my face. Unable to see Dr until 3/10 so i am using anti-itch cream, hydrogen peroxide, and diluted rubbing alcohol. The pain is so horrible, I just want to die.

Yes, you can get the shingles even if you have not had the chicken pox. You have been exposed to someone with active shingles or to a child that has or is having a chicken pox outbreak. You health may be such that you have a weakened immune system that can make you vulnerable to Shingles.

I've been panicking because I've had the numbness and skin pain for two weeks. I was treating it as a fungus infection as it was on the left side of my groin. My massage therapist said the numbness in my leg was from the fungus damaging the nerves. Went to clinic and doc said shingles and the small white bubbles should turn red and blister. Day four of Valtrex. No blisters. New stabbing pain on same side in outer buttons and inner thigh. I feel like crap. How long did it last? Do you have any pain still? I'm old and terrified its doing internal damage. I may go to the ER later. Forgot to mention the horrific back pain that started 8 days ago...its a little better. Only taking Tylenol so far.
