The green areas look so empty and sad right now. You should add invisible paths and invisible parks there so that you get people actually using the space
I suggest renaming the restrooms in the park to "Waterloo"
As a Belgian, I support this idea 😂
Waterlooloos
loo'l :-D
makes me think of keralis’ city 😭i miss his cities skylines series’s.
💀
Have you ever used invisible pathing, I think it would be cool in the park, too see people in the open field
And I believe there are invisible parks too so that people stand around and are attracted to those places. Would be a great addition.
@@the_andrewgrech Won't be needed soon, so excited for the next DLC
@@cmdrquillon9398 what's the new dlc?
@@specrtre Parks and Plazas
@@cmdrquillon9398 sweet!
A suggestion when plazas and promenades come out you should upgrade your retail park with the walkable roads
Your Zebra Crossing at 6.20 is extremely dangerous as there is no indication that the traffic flow changes to the opposite side, I think your local council would be screaming! All that aside, lovely build another great episode, cheers!
as both roads go from 1 to two lanes, it's not as bad as if 2 went to 1 and massive headons were the result
It is massively dangerous - not for the traffic but for pedestrians.
No way that you should have a zebra crossing right where cars are changing lanes, especially at the apex of a curve.
Those cims crossing from the inside are doomed, I tell you, doomed.
@@colmx8441
Spare us the hyperbole. The traffic light nullifies OP's claim. Sit down.
Yes it is dangerous, however there are traffic lights, making it safer.
@@miniena7774 It's dangerous for the cars not the pedestrians. There is no indication that you should switch lanes so the middle lane is used by both directions.
One thing that came to mind looking at the park was that you are placing trees rather than carving them out. I would probably look at park more in a Negative spaces kind of way. So fill the entire park area with trees and then start thinking about where in this wooden area I would like to have activities. And how would people get around to the different activities. And then just carve it out.
Love this build so much, but you've created quite a few lumpies and bumpies (parking lots that are far from flat, buildings with stairs a meter off the ground, buildings that look like they're on a grass pedestal, etc.) in this part of the city
Ps. The nets on the soccer fields disappeared
Feel like we need an episode dedicated entirely to fixing and detailing the city
If you’re looking for some good detailing examples I can recommend Few Candy and her Auridon series - I think I started watching her videos following one of your recommendations but she does do some excellent detailing work in her city and also uses BOB extensively too to add / remove / change various aspects of vanilla buildings.
I use her videos basically as therapy sessions. Very soothing to watch!
Ahh thank you M B!! ❤
There is a way to turn dead end streets into cul-de-sacs by widening the end node. It looks good too!
How does one widen the end node, what mod is required please?
@@shaunbreeze9796 i think it's the "node controller" mod
@@shaunbreeze9796 I think it must be node manager - I think I saw it on two dollars twenty, it looks like a real cul-de-sac
that sounds like a great tip!
@@titantyped69 and if ur playing vanilla or console, just build a road right before the end to create a node (turning snapping off makes it easier)
My favorite youtuber to watch for detailing is Akruas. His level of detailing is insane to put it mildly.
I would've liked to see a signature tree in the park, like an imported redwood or a big ol' oak or two. Also, there's a lot of roundabouts that could do with some detailing ;-)
A Botanical Garden type park with a dozen or two specific large trees not seen elsewhere on the map? The ones in Copenhagen and Malmö are amazing.
Nice build in this one ☺ It's so cool to see the sims moving around in hordes to check out what's new. As for detailing, you have a couple of roundabouts that could do with some landscaping. In particular the one with the pedestrian bridge might look even cooler with something artsy in the middle.
Hey Biffa! Maybe you could build a Parliament or Government District and the home of the Mayor or Prime Minister (similar to Downing Street 10). Love the video, it was FANTASTIC!
Is there a riot generator asset to plop down next to it? Gotta have that realism
And then make a video setting every Natural Disaster on it.
Like 1820's Sydney with it's Government Domain. Includes the Royal Botanical Gardens, The Domain and everything from Circular Quay/Macquarie Street to Wollomooloo Bay. Basically just gardens and Government, Public buildings the size of half the city.
Akruas is a really good UA-camr a detailing, he does excellent videos about the 2 cities he's building... His cities are stunning.
True absolutely stunning
I think whilst having lines of trees is a good quick way to fill in some land and neaten it all up, it gets quite repetitive in my opinion and can begin to look unnatural. Even just deleting a couple of trees in each line, and then offsetting them a few feet from the line, can give a much more natural look and helps break up the regimented look to it all. I also like to add extra trees behind the main line on areas with a lot of space.
Some places where i keep the absolutely straight lines is outside of businesses that would plant them that way on purpose and maintain them, or sometimes in showpiece areas in parks where everything is meant to look groomed to perfection.
there's a suggestion. you can make all the entrances to your park into a park side gate. even if it's free, it's the number of people entering your park that you want to level up quickly!
Half the problem is that people will drive into to get to those car parks by the football pitches and therefore not going through the gate and thus not registering even though those people are using the facilities. Same goes for everyone wanting to just walk along the road that comes in
@@davidius74 Doesn't it just count people who enter the park zone? I don't think they literally have to pass through certain pixels of the gate.
I always struggle to fill in the areas with trees, I generally just brush some in but leaving open spaces is not a bad idea. Not everything needs to be covered.
By the way, Akruas is an amazing detailer. Just stunning cities and amazing use of mods to create buildings, parks and services to his liking. Just one episode makes you want to recreate what he does
I always snuggle to fill in areas with knees
Hey Biffa! Great episode as always.
For detailing, refer to FewCandy and Overcharged Egg. They are the best, IMHO. 😉
Ahh thank you Jodie!!
Need a national trust style Stately home somewhere, could build some incredible gardens around it.
Few Candy is the best at detailing!!! Like incredible! You should check out her series on YT.
That park needs a water feature! Many UK parks have man made ponds and/or lakes
I mean when you think about it I don’t really want every single place filled out with housing either. Give a little bit of space to parks
Would use low hedges instead of trees along the paths in the park. Consider how the park would seem a corridor to people using it if they cannot see above the plant line.
I think the pitches need road access. Moving them with the moveit-mod isn’t much to go by when it comes to road access requirements.
Always enjoy a good Blightea episode!
Some suggestions if you like:
-A little pond in that park maybe behind the kiddy area with some picnic benches would be really nice
-A couple cafes or street food stalls by the skate park maybe to grab some tea and biscuits for a nice evening tea in the park?
-I'm missing all the rocks we saved in New Tealand! Maybe import some over?
-This one's really nitty gritty but could you (even off camera) maybe BOB some trees (especially on that children's park with those random palms) to make it a little more cohesive?
Great build anyway Biffa! Have a great day :D
Hey Biffa, maybe you could add a cricket field (or a pitch) in that part behind the kids park. There are some models in the workshop
I was nearly screaming TENNIS so yeah not just football please Biffa
@biffa it looks great and I have to agree, a multi sports playing area would be great. I do however think your footballers will be complaining about the lighting, so if you didn't want to add central lights and stay with 4 you may get away with shiftifying the lights from the corners to be inline with around the penalty arc area or there about.
there is this guy on UA-cam called Akruas who is insane at building and detailing on city skylines. His new series contains insane amounts of detail with transport and expanding his city. I would recommend definitely checking out his content. :)
Fewcandy is one of the best detail masters I've seen in this game. Biffa is still my favorite to watch out of all of the Skylines players I've seen.
cant wait for the parks and plazas to make the whole of the medieval area service vehicles only, also the parks will be so much better without roads.
Hi Biffa, I’ve watched many of your videos about Cities Skyline… but I’m wondering if you have tried playing Tropico 6? It’s definitely interesting building a city and playing as a dictator. Highly recommend :)
Love the series so far it’s great to see a British themed city!! Two of my favourite city builders at the moment are FewCandy and Overcharged Egg they are amazing at detailing. They have way more patience than me at placing decorations!!!
Nice to see a great big park! With so many flats and residence blocks, it's good to have some green spaces. You might want to add a few commercial spots here and there. Not pubs, mind you, but it would help not having to jump into a car every time to go to the local shop.
As for detailing, definitely check out FewCandy! She's one of the best at it. She does a lot of brilliant work with mods, but she can do miraculous stuff with even vanilla assets (like she did for the 5B1C current series as a guest builder). She's also a Brit. :)
Few Candy is the best detailer I've seen. Strictoaster is really good too, though he hasn't made videos for years now.
That lone resident loved his house and you destroyed it. You have no heart or soul Biffa 😔
😂😂😂🤩
I have an idea for another park! Maybe you can do a massive park with a palace or castle in the middle, and around the castle / palace you can make a massive park. With fountains and all that kind of grand stuff. It will fit great in the city.
I would love to see a flower garden somewhere in you city, not as functional but it would beautify the city.
From my trip to England a few years ago, I would suggest some sort of water feature in the park like a swan pond(the Queen's Swans I learned) or an Italian garden fountain. I was inspired by Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens!
Edit to say: a "Royal"-esque park could be great in the more posh areas
If you're ever looking for inspiration for a big park in the middle of a city, have a look at Berlins "Tempelhofer Feld". It's a ridiculously large park in Berlin which used to be an airport. Nowadays, there's community gardens, the runways are used by bikers and skaters and there's even a bird reserve. I think something like that would look amazing in Cities Skylines
Edit: I just found out that they're kite surfing on the former runways as well! Also, the Google Earth images sadly don't show the size and details of the park properly, so also look at pictures, please!
You’re actually getting so much better every video, its insane!
Like the editors twists too.
Since you asked: some of my favorite C:S yt’bers are overcharged egg, dirty h and cityplanner plays (but you’ve probably already heard about those guys)
Hey man just a small detailing idea: you have a few bunches of trees near almost every housing estate you build, give them some benches (don't go overboard just a few simple benches dotted around)
1:30
- "Hello, we are from the city council. We are afraid that you were not supposed to build a house here. I know it was zoned for housing, but thats our mistake. We are going to need to bulldoze your house as it is ruining the cities aesthetic."
- "Wha-Where are we going to go? Will we be compensated?"
- "Sorry, its gone already. Have a good day."
you didn't want to fence the park with trees and that's exactly what it looks like. Love the diagonal roads with the shorter apartment housing.
For self made parks/playgrounds I recommend the Park People Generator (ppg). It brings custom places that are filled with ploppale items to life!
If you want to check out a UA-camr who’s pretty sick at detailing, look up “Palm’s Time”. Especially his series building the Japanese-inspired city “Maya”.
Another great builder is Strictocaster, I especially love his series building the village of "Nydal", inspired by nordic styles. He does a bit more commentary and explains a lot more.
I can watch both these guys for hours.
Overcharged Egg is the king of detailing imo. Also check out Few Candy and Joy Builds Cities.
Great vid Biff, loved it!
I think you might need more water, ponds, rivers etc. The park could look really cool with a pond. There are pond assets on the workshop if you don't want to deal with the in game watertool. But then again, I am dutch so maybe I am used to a overload of water everywhere 😅
edit: I quite like the " Quad's Natural Sanctuary Ponds " and " Swan Pond " not sure if they still work properly though
Hopefully you don't mean "Swan's Pond" from Fallout 4 ;)
Just with a little bit of nothing your city looks so much cooler than a vanilla city that's looking so great omg
I think I will probably never be able to make the same 😭
There's a house on fire in the opening and he couldn't be happier to ignore it by discussing the plethora of overhead lights on his roundabout. This game is awesome
adding a water feature within your parks would be a great addition to the overall relaxing atmosphere of a park
My favourite detailing youtubers are @OverchargedEgg, @FewCandy and @JoyBuildsCities. Top notch detailers without super heavy mod usage. And all lovely people too!
The last units would probably have 2 households per floor, top floor a penthouse with 1 household. Some of your other units you probably have under-populated them too. It's always a place you can squeeze out more population if needed.
No pls don’t say ur ending the series I love it
UA-camr named Akruas does some crazy detailing in his cities, recommend checking him out
I think those apartments you placed by the TV station shouldn't be detached. If you think about it, that is prime realistate for employees of the industrial park and the builder would want to fit in as many units as possible.
The best city detailer that I have seen so far is #FewCandy. She is amazing. It’s like she’s painting the city instead of plopping buildings and props down.
32:33 Biffa there is two buildings placed in one spot fix that plz!!! Watch the video!!!
6:29 Putting that crossing there, has really messed up your lane markings. I think the people of Orpington would have been fine crossing over the roundabout or using the crossing further down the road.
22:17 A small pond would have been cool but I know how much you like to deal with water. (Not without reason.)
23:11 Didn't you have a mod that allowed you to select and change the trees that come with the paths? Including the spacing? Or did that even come with the game?
The apartment area looks good and the close industry isn't that noisy or polluting so that shouldn't be a big deal.
There is a way to change the trees on the tree lined roads and paths built into the Airports DLC, I believe. Or it may have been made a part of the base game. It came out around the airports and the one/two DLCs of that time.
@@kennashey Thank you. That may have been what I was thinkging about.
Don't know how popular disc golf is on the isles but I'd love to see a lil' 9 hole course built in the countryside!
The shake at @31:30 due to the bush, even through the musical montage, I could hear Biffa's "WHAT". Absolutely perfect
As far as other UA-camrs that do good detailing go, I've taken a liking to the decoration methods in some of Xucaboa's videos also.
When u plopped those Contemporary apartments , they are 'Historic' by default. So they probably won't be the same height when they level up...
Love this city the most, there seems to be a really strong focus on building a sense of place. Detailing youtubers, I’m terrible at names but there is an incredible South African builder who creates incredibly realistic landscapes so fantastic. I wish I could remember his name. He contributed to a one city five builders series I’m sure.
Would that be ExactChaos?
@@vaporschutz actually no but I’m now going to check that person out now tho thanks. No I looked it up it was YUMBLtv. He’s very good puts some good thought into his work.
This looks lovely Biffa! Though maybe it's because I'm used to American parks but it's strange to me to see a park this large without a lake or pond of some sort in it.
34:11 "And also if there's any other UA-camrs that do really good detailling..." Boi! Do I have the name for you. "Sanctum Gamer" is criminally underrated if you ask me.
The only thing he could do a bit better is give us some sip of tea pauses from time to time and that would make it perfect :P
There doesn't seem to be anyone playing in the football pitches, maybe because you fenced over their entrances (indicated by the blue arrows when you lay down paths and roads)
This City looks awesome! I like that you’re making some parks and I really like that you’re make making long videos that entertaining me. Keep going!
I love the park. Seeing that big dark area in the night time view made me think of one of our local state parks that has astronomy events with telescopes in the open field areas. If there is any kind of telescope or astronomy asset out there, that would go great in a small part of that big open area for night time activity in the park.
I love parks. I don't even have the DLC. I just use the things I find as props and mix in a few of the base game parks to make areas for Cims to hang out. Cims absolutely love it when you add any kind of walking or biking path. They take to the parks and talk about under the Chirpy thing that tells you news about the city.
Don't know if you know this or not Mr Biffa but if you press the ctrl key before you click when using prop line tool, you can adjust different things of the line of props.
Akuras does some amazing things with detailing, he does use procedural objects though but it's a great source of ideas.
FewCandy, i think she is got some skill on the detailing
I think in the little apartment complex, in the triangle of space behind the parking lot area, it would have been nice for the complex to have a built in playground. I know they're right by a large park but there's a busy road in-between and would have been "a good selling point" for the apartments story-wise.
I'm enjoying Flabaliki's detailing in his most recent city and recommend his videos.
Love him also for his builds in Sims 4, he built several houses for the actual game. He is so good that EA recruited him...lol. Great pick
Love the episode! One suggestion is to add some invisible paths or invisible "visit points" in the open fields of the park so you see people in that area!
Loving the new park. The entrance on the curved road very much reminds me of Bushy Park. On the Teddington side where I grew up, the gate was on a similarly curved road, with roads lined with houses on the side opposite the park. Waterloo Park, though much smaller and lacking in streams, lakes and a fountain, otherwise is similar to Bushy Park, with the sports facilities, play area and amenities, plus the trees scattered everywhere. Cracking job!
Regarding other tubers: check out @Joy Builds Cities, her detailing in Mordalgo (15 minute city) is marvelous. She's got custom parking, custom dog parks, and finds interesting uses for assets like the urban food forest and pocket hoods. The first person she does at the ends of the videos always seem very realistic. I'm a big fan of your cities and your energy. Can't wait to see your take on the new promenade DLC.
I think you need more connectivity with the paths! I just keep seeing points of the paths that are so close to a usable road sidewalk and i can imagine that people irl will naturally just create their own path. Of course only if there is a low enough fence or no fence, one can assume pedestrians will cut through hedges to get to somewhere they think will be a faster route irl
Also more roadside commercial nodes would be cool like as if there was a corner store, gas station or chain restaurants
That's probably what happened with the childrens' area as that one has an entrance without a side gate. So making one way a real path and the other gravel would have met with that story.
I also think sand might have been a good alternative for the ground but no idea how would actually look.
@@kaltaron1284 yea or even invisible paths could be cool to simulate people walking around and cutting through the parks.
@@Qtopian Agreed. Esp. that wide open area of grass. There's probably some props for blankets and stuff.
Two words: Water Feature! Having a duck pond in that open area would be such a good park addition.
Two dollars twenty did a series creating Springfield in Cities Skylines, a lot of detail in that build
Biffa must own the sporting goods concession in this town. Those nice spiky fences around the football pitches will go through a lot of balls.
"I'm not too worried about the fact that people are going to be able to get in to this park without paying."
Who are you and what have you done with Biffa?
I haven't played cities skylines in forever but if possible maybe add a small pond to waterloo gardens. That big open area if you added a nice pond with a walk around path and trees would look great. I just don't know if ponds are a possibility or not.
24:40 "We're just gonna advance this on til the lights come on!" - Biffa 2022
Since your season of 2 builders, your cities have been incredible. Maybe try getting on another season?
I got invited but decided to pass 👍
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines Understandably. Doing those I bet is very time consuming.
Hey Biffa, you could build a Botanical garden and a flowery area where the alderly can take strolls looking at the pretty flower beds.
Good City Skylines UA-camr Suggestions: CitiesSkylinesWorld and Two Dollers 20
came for the thumbnail stayed for the build!
Thanks mate 👍 😁
Hi twenty:)
I’m a beginner learning to play Remastered on Xbox. Watching you play is exciting but also humbling to say the least.
Just really started playing with the tree brush and I went wonky with the Yucka or Yew (yired and can't remember which) the trees with thick trunks and tons of shade. I have hidden parts of my park area with hundreds of them 😂. Detailing is not easy on PS4 and my park seems kind of dead with out any DLCs. Might have to give a shake weight or a double fisty twisty to get those settled.
Really would love to have some fun extras for my first city Wrong Start on Diamond coast just hit a population 155,000. Two weeks of hard learning through Mr Biffa and a couple of others. Maybe if I get my DLC and Steam set by the holidays I can get a good Ole Hugo There Biffa fix come Start of New Year? Probably not, but I will do my best.
Waterloo gardens absolutely needs some kind of pond or lake! It'll really bring the place together
in the kids park at 25:11 maybe an extra light would be nice, for safety. About extra details just follow RCE in the Cities:Skylines series, he gives an extra something.
FewCandy just edges it for me as the best detailer I know. Though having a mentor in the master that is Overcharged Egg isn’t a bad way to learn
Thanks Ben 😄 Overcharged Egg is the master!!
I'd love for this game to have fields of long grass and wildflowers, would make those long grassy expanses much more lively.
T4rget was someone who used to do very detailed cities with little to no mods. Sadly he hasn't posted in a while
Don’t forget to like the video!
As for other youtubers, check out Akuras and Skibbith. I've learned a lot from their videos in terms of building a highly detailed city. Their detailing skills are awesome.
Sometimes, taking a break from building really allows for a fresh look. I do this with many creative that I do including my music studies. I find that after a while I can't think or hear the music and it's time to step away and work on something else. Coming back to the pieces another day, or sometimes months later, gives me a fresh look at the work. I do this with Cities: Skylines and with Trainz TRS-Plus.
I often stop building my city as i just wanted to have a tour around my city to see how traffic is doing. Its at 80k population year 2090.
Seems like you might need a high density residential zone/area to hit your population targets. Might run out of room otherwise. It'll become like a real life city with an island of high-rises, surrounded by sprawling suburbs.
Highrise apartments and skyscrapers, with 20 storey gangways like Trellick Tower. 😂 A 'East London' would be cool.
@cityZilla for detailing for sure. The flowerbeds, water features, attention to detail is second to none
Hey man never stop doing what you're doing. You're the reason I've gotten to where I have with this game. whenever I need inspiration or just some early morning entertainment I look for your videos. Nice work!
At the playground, there can be added the very nice looking little wooden Castle (Prop). And some more lights, there it is very dark at night.
FEWCANDY is a very clever detailer. She has great ideas
