*"MY BAD!"* Mayor responds to criticism _Lakewood_ - In recent light (or lack thereof) of the continued power outage in the commercial district for over 5 months, the mayor finally "got around" to his critics. Power fluctuations have rendered office spaces to be abandoned in the south islands after a long period of silence from the mayor. Those who frequent the south island for work have felt a sense of neglect while the other islands receive more attention. "He's like a A.D.D. squirrel!" one business owner exclaimed, "I've even heard rumors of him muttering something about raw materials not being his problem or something. What a douche." Citizens did not expect the mayor to apologize in the controversial dismissing tone with a simple "My bad!" but the long overdue south island problem is finally fixed. In other news, the Lakewood Loggers lost their match against the Springfield Strippers. Again.
Fun fact, aircraft carriers have an elastic cable strung across the airstrip, and the aircraft are outfitted with a hook to latch onto it. To ensure that the aircraft don't plummet off the side of the carrier into the ocean because of insufficient speed, they actually blast through the airstrip until they latch onto the cable and it safely slows and stops their movement. So, in some way, I can see the steps your airport took to ensure planes don't plummet off the edge. But it's probably very unrealistic with the size of commercial planes compared to military aircraft. Still, fact of the day.
I love this map. After watching the other challenge video with the 2 small islands I downloaded the mod collection you posted and this map. So far I have a decent town set up with the residential along the cove coastline and commercial and industrial along the peninsula south of it. Only issue I've run into is trying to move the industrial to the smaller island that sort of curves along the backside of the main island but when I try to do this the industrial population vanishes all together.
Hey Semaj! I would love to see you build a city on this map like you would do, starting as a regular city with unlock all off, and as you grow the city and unlock the various transport you could have each island with a different type of public transport, kind of like an ultimate mode of this challenge and the ships only challenge you've done. It'd be cool to see if it can be done (if anyone can do it it's you!) And would make a cool little series! Btw I'm a big fan and love you and your videos, stay awesome James! :) :) :)
Sir. Sir. Have you ever heard of a thing called "cities skylines Sedona"? Or maybe, "cities skylines parklife"? You arent a fan of this channel until youve binge watched both of those cities.
Humpbacked runway... did not realise at first it was the runway. There are some real life runways that are "interesting" in that way, but not quite as bad as that.
Challenge: No dumping sewage directly into bodies of water. (no cheeky man made reservoirs that have sewage treatment) The resulting "naturally forming" pooplake is something you have to protect from and district around. Extra challenge: Poop mountain/sewage volcano
Do you know if you dig a pit and drag your poo outlet over it, will it fill over time and overflow? That would be a full fledged disaster, no DLC required lol
And this just gave me a great idea for a mod or expansion - Garbage barge. Plenty of cities around the world transport garbage via barges towed by tugboats. They could have mini-garbage hubs where trucks unload garbage on to the barges which are then towed away to a larger facility. It'd work exactly like the bus+ferry terminal only with garbage trucks and boats.
Just here to say your videos are popping up in my recommended, never heard of this game before but the videos are great. I guess the algorithm chose correctly

Only Trams and for Cargo you can use trains, to get people in you are allowed to use an airport. Your best way to beat the roads issue is to ban cars with a mod or something? You are also allowed to use larger capacity tram models
Challenge: Make a 99k people city with industry/offices, commercial and residential separated. They may only be interconnected with highways. Only road transport allowed. Good luck.

The Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla, Nepal is often rated the most dangerous airport in the world. one problem is the 1729 foot (527 meter) runway that leads off a 2000 foot (607 meter) drop, no nav guides, no night operations, the Airport has an elevation of around 9500 feet (2896 meters) with little descent before landing, and let's not forget that this is Nepal where everywhere is mountains so enjoy dodging mountains. Your airport is downright safe by comparison.
a way to make money, was shown by biffa. just let everyone walk through a park entrance - and maybe add toll booths. That could help on the next island project using blimps, cable cars and freight planes :)
You can with TPME mod. I don't have any good links at hand but it's been done a few times. The only thing that's absolutely required is a link to an outside connection, be it road, rail, boat or airport. Or possibly a ped walkway from the outside connection to the town; haven't seen that one attempted yet. I have a little medieval town kinda modeled on old walled cities where you have to park your car at the edge of town and walk or bike through. I'm not sure how well it would scale up but it works for what it is as long as I allow garbage trucks, emergency svcs, hearses and buses along the walkways. Being that the game doesn't seem to count ped congestion as actual congestion, it's almost an exploit. Of course building a mass transit system capable of getting the masses around efficiently is a different story.
I got a Idea.Go on a Big make with spread out resources and have both the industries,Resource Gathering and Towns spread out, with a self imposed size limit for each and only connect them with rail.Dont know if it would be hard or anything but it sure would look interesting.
Putting a hospital next to the stadium is pretty smart looking at how much injuries sports players get... I was at my friends house, and there was a Seahawks game on, and someone from one of the teams landed badly and broke his ankle, literally.

I've never noticed an entry in game for raw goods. Is that listed anywhere? It's not unusual to see finished goods being imported, unless I'm misunderstanding what goods importing means. I know there's no warehouse option to store raw goods. Only finished goods. So a cargo airport, does that import raw goods resources for general industry (outside of a specialized industrial district) to turn into finished goods, or does the airport just directly import finished goods? I don't quite understand the supply line for general industry. @@solidXxXtuna I don't think this game is this complicated in terms of supply lines, and industry in general. Also, I think that the "outside connections" view will show the the resources a particular building is importing/exporting.
