I made these for the first time yesterday. My husband and I really like these rolls. He called them "Shockingly good!" (He's tried a lot of my keto experiments, so you know he means this!)
Next time I would like to add some finely grated cheddar, and brush the baked buns with a mixture of butter, garlic and Old Bay seasoning to make keto Cheddar Bay Biscuits like Red Lobster.
Thank you for this very easy recipe.
Yummy! That sounds delicious. I am so glad you and your family enjoyed this recipe
@SharonBeach great idea!💡
coconut is a nut. and it says nut free... sad that u have to lie

Hi new subscriber, just wanted to let you know I very much enjoyed your style and approach of making your videos! You speak concisely not a bunch of information that doesn't have anything to do with the recipe LOL and I also appreciate the fact that you add the what if scenarios, (such as if your dough is too sticky, do this... Etc)... I am excited to try this recipe for the holidays!🦃🍗😋

Instead of the xanthan gum, you could add psyllium husk powder or flaxseed meal. Those both act as binders. No extra egg needed. Or Chia seeds that have been soaked in a little bit of water.
Yes that works very well for this recipe
Hi. How much psyllium husk would you have to add instead of the extra egg?
@@azeezadam1971 if 1 part zanthum sub 2 parts ground p. husks

Thank you I am so glad these turned out for you
did you use the ground flaxseed? And how much? thank you :D
I used just one tablespoon of ground flax seeds.
Just got done eating one and turned out great! I used 4 eggs instead of xanthan gum so I had to add more c.flour of course. I've been craving bread and this definitely hit the spot 😋 thank you
Awesome I am so glad this turned out to your liking
How much more flour did you add?
How much more flour?

Healthy. Item.
I made these EXACTLY by the recipe and it was so dry. I baked it and it was hard as a rock.
I've been looking for a recipe for Thanksgiving rolls ... one vegetarian, one low sodium, 2 low carb (not keto but reg bread is way too high in carbs), one eats anything. These rolls should satisfy everyone!
Your recipesc are so "normal" ... Thank you. I can't use psyllium so I'm thrilled to know xanthan gum is a substitute, at least for this recipe.
You're welcome I'm glad this recipe is helpful. Just a little tip with the xanthan gum, add it in very small amounts. A little goes a long way.
I wonder if a dollop of yogurt or cream cheese would add to an even softer texture and taste? Also, if we're to use instant yeast and prove it before baking? Although it looks 100% delicious in its own right and I thank you whole heartedly for this wonderful healthy recipe.
you're welcome. Adding yeast to this recipe would definitely make it taste more like traditional bread however it will not make it rise. Adding yogurt or cream cheese would be great as long as you don't add too much. Coconut flour is very sensitive to moisture. You want to get the ration just right.
Oh my i am going to give this receipt a shot! I've been looking for a gluten free bao bun recipe.
That's great I hope this turns out perfect for you when you try it
Oo! How did the bao buns turn out? I'll bet the xanthan gum wouldn't be optional.
@@JanetsDeliciousLowCarbKitchen Hey Janet, could you add more xanthan gum do you think? A bao bun is usually steamed, so I'm just wondering if the xanthan gum would help hold it together in the face of all the extra moisture.
@@MattieAnna I wouldn't advise using too much xanthan gum it has a tendency to make the center wet and not able to cook properly
Love the Recipe If you are allergic to melons do not use monk fruit
In the Keto world when someone says "super moist on the inside' I know what "super moist inside' means. It's what we used to get with the 90-second bread... SOGGY. After revamping the 90-second bread so that it's not soggy on the bottom, I continue to make it because it's so quick and there are so many variations of sweet or savory that it stands in for just about ANY bread I ever need except for tortillas. After it's gone out of fashion (not talked about on the internet anymore) I continue to make it after having perfecting it. YUM!!! No more soggy bread!
So you are saying this recope is soggy? I've not mate or yet but don't want to waste my ingredients if is soggy
3 years of watching UA-camrs then making their Keto baked goods, I’ve come to the same conclusion ….. Moist = Soggy 🙁 If the UA-camr shows a close-up, then I can almost tell what the “texture” is going to be. I’d try this but I don’t like the flavor of coconut in my savory baked goods. Sorry 😞
@@mlentz1975 I know a lot of people who don't care for the taste of coconut flour, but they usually will add seasonings/spices & say it's then undetectable. Just a thought. =)
@Peter Piper~Would you consider sharing what alterations you have made to perfect your 90- second bread? I've not made it at all, because of others' reviews saying the same about the sogginess(of "90 Second" bread), so I'm sure curious to try yours~ if you have a minute of course.
P.S. *These rolls (Janet's above recipe, I mean) were absolutely not soggy, imho. They were soft yet firm, buttery fluffy deliciousness w/a slightly crispy top & bottom. I believe she really did mean "moist" as in not overly dry/crumbly.
Can you share your receipe?
thanks am going to try cinnamon rolls with this
You're welcome. I do have a recipe for cinnamon rolls if you would like to try it. janetsdeliciouslowcarbkitchen.com/quick-keto-caramel-cinnamon-rolls/?amp=1
Thank you! I will make these soon🙂
You're welcome. I hope they turn out great
The rolls look great. What are the macros for each roll.
Thank you. I added the nutritional information to the written recipe
Janet - thank you so much for sharing this recipe I'm glad this recipe does not use yeast as I heard yeast is not good for our guts.
You're welcome
Super easy to make and taste good too! Are there ways to soften the Powder-ly texture of the coconut. I.e. not too crumbly in the mouth?
You can add a small amount of sour cream or Greek yogurt to help give a little more moisture. Just don't add too much
These are in the oven right now. I used Bob's Red Mill coconut flour and the liquid to flour ratio was perfect!! I used a scale to weigh everything but the salt and butter. I know I should have weighed the butter too but I didn't. Lol! My husband just found out one of his arteries is 1/3 blocked so he has to change his diet. It has been a nightmare! I was making almond flour wraps to put his meat on every day but he says they are flavorless. Lol! I will let you know how much better he likes the rolls. He loves coconut so fingers crossed! Thanks for all you do!! God Bless!!
That's great. I hope you both enjoy the rolls
Hello fellow Chrissy! Try Mission tortilla wraps, 40 calories 4 net carbs. I fry mine in olive oil with garlic powder 😉Delicious!

Hi Janet, can I use psyllium husk in place of xanthum gum in a particular recipe using sorghum flour, tapioca starch, brown rice flour garbanzo bean flour and flax meal? I love your recipes and they've really been a God send for my husband's health issues 🙂
I am so glad you have been enjoying my recipes and they have been helpful. Yes you can use psyllium husk instead of xanthan gum in most recipes. However it is not a one for one substitute.
@@JanetsDeliciousLowCarbKitchen that's going to be the hard part right? The recipe is cinnamon rolls and is calling for 1 tsp. Xanthum gum. It also has millet flour 😱. Lots to get texture and taste I guess.
Looks good. What are the macros for these rolls? Carbs, calories, etc?
Thank you. I added the macros to the bottom of the written recipe
Will these make sandwich rolls too. My husband likes Subway sandwiches but I can’t eat their bread. Thanks! I just discovered your channel.
They probably could be shaped into sandwich rolls but check out my keto sub sandwich rolls. These are my favorite janetsdeliciouslowcarbkitchen.com/keto-coconut-flour-sub-sandwich-bread/
I tried the recipe, followed all of the steps, but the inside was not fully cooked. I sliced each biscuit in half and placed it back in the oven, it helped somewhat. The I saw on the website that it was 3 stars, but I couldn't read the comments. I see why, I will have to go back to my tested biscuit recipe.
Hii 🙋♀️ i love your recipes, i am just wondering if you can tell me how much carbs per roll ? Net carbs , thanks soo much ❤
The nutritional information is at the bottom of the written recipe. The link to the written recipe is in the description. There are about 3 net carbs in one dinner roll.
Just subscribed from sunny London.
Awesome! Thank you for subscribing.
I do wish UA-camrs would post the written recipe in the drop down box - very important for people with food allergies. I've sat through so many videos only to find 15 minutes in that I can't eat it.
Looks cool. I started the Keto diet a few months ago and I'm down from 260lbs to 210lbs so far. Where is everyone ordering their coconut and almond flour? I'd like to get a good deal from a place that everyone else in the community orders from. Thanks in advance to anyone that answers and thanks to you Janet for your nice recipe. I will subscribe and check out your other stuff.
Congratulations on your keto success. I use Anthony's organic coconut flour. I order it from Amazon. There should be a link in the description
@@JanetsDeliciousLowCarbKitchen Thank you. I will check it out.
Thank you for the video, could I bake these in the bread maker? 😊
You're welcome. I don't think these would turn out in a bread maker. The temperature is too high in a bread maker and the cook time is too long.
Thank you for the recipe!
Can we substitute coconut flour with almond flour?
No unfortunately coconut flour cannot be substituted for any other flour. Coconut flour is very absorbent and very unique how it reacts with liquid
@@JanetsDeliciousLowCarbKitchen great recipe. I'd love to try it but I am anaphylactic to coconut. Any other options or suggested replacement to coconut flour is appreciated!
Hi Janet- is there a substitute for coconut flour? Please advise thank you so much!
Unfortunately coconut flour cannot be substituted with any other flour. It is very absorbent and requires a lot more liquid and binders. Sometimes you can combine lupin flour and oat fiber and come close but this can result in a very dense bread or a very wet bread.
At last! Measurements in grams. Well, not all are in grams, but most. Cups, tablespoons and teaspoons have different weights/volumes in different countries. I'm craving bread so I really want these to work.
Yes I did a video recently on why I weigh my ingredients. It makes a huge difference when using coconut flour.
I love how they turned out! I wanna ask can you add yeast to this recipe?
Yes you can add yeast. It doesn't help with rising but it does help with flavor
How much yeast would you add? Just wondering. I don’t really care about it but my family might. 😊 They are non keto.
Xanthan gum is super expensive but I bought a jar of arrow root on sale. I hope that works the same.
Yes arrowroot can work sometimes. Basically for this recipe you something that is going to bind your ingredients and keep the dough flexible. Similar to what gluten does.

You're welcome. I am glad I can help
Looks delicious, just i can't have coconut?any flour to substitute?
No unfortunately coconut flour cannot be substituted with any other flour. It is very absorbent and requires a lot of extra liquid and binders
Can you use soaked chia seeds instead of xanthan gum? They have an eggy texture when soaked.
Yes you can use soaked chia or flaxseeds to replace the xanthan gum
Can I use almond flour instead of coconut flour? Thanks for your recipes
No unfortunately coconut flour is very unique in how it reacts with liquid and cannot be substituted by any other flour
More recipe using xantham gum with coconut flour pls, tnx for sharing ❤️❤️❤️, can I use coconut oil instead just asking Ms Janette. Tnx for the reply
Yes, you can substitute the butter for melted and cooled coconut oil. I have several recipes using xanthan gum and coconut flour. Two of my recent videos Keto flatbread and Keto hotpockets both use xanthan gum and are egg free 😋
@@JanetsDeliciousLowCarbKitchen hi if I want to double or 1 1/2 the recipe, I add 1/2 tsp of xantham gum instead. Is this correct ms Janet's.
Mine didn’t turn out quite right but they were edible and gave me that carb euphoric feeling😂 also I didn’t follow the instructions fully so that’s why.
I am glad you were able to enjoy them even though they weren't quite right
For the lactose intolerant, obvs the milk could be desired for nut/oat milk, but can one swap butter for oil? Same amount?
Yes you can swap the butter out for coconut oil or any oil of choice. Just make sure to check your dough after everything is combined to make sure the texture is correct. Depending on the fat content the coconut flour to liquid ratio may need to be adjusted just slightly
I don't know what it is but hearing you say 'button' just tickles me pink. What keeps going through my mind is "Button, button who's got the button." Hey, maybe you could remind us to press the button with, Button, button press that button? Anyway, rolls look great!
Lol Yes I take after my grandpa and have my own language 😅
Janet. Please may I know if there is a good substitute for coconut flour, please. 🙏 thanks
Unfortunately coconut flour really cannot be substituted one for one with any other flour. It is very absorbent and requires a lot of liquid and binders
I see. Thanks so much for your kind reply. GreatlyAt least now I know coconut flour is highly absorbent. Thanks for sharing your recipes
I'm thinking I will try gelatin instead of xanthan... maybe 1 t??
Have You tried that Miss Janet? Any thoughts?
Thank You & Bless You & Yours for sharing Your mad kitchen skills ☺️
I have not tried gelatin powder in this particular recipe but I know gelatin powder or psyllium husk powder are good substitutes for xanthan gum
@@JanetsDeliciousLowCarbKitchen Thank You for replying. I NEED bread ;-)
So maybe I better whip up a batch & test that out.
I do like having extra fiber so might ahould try the psyllium??
Would You use a T or t?
I think t for gelatin but T for psyllium? Thoughts?
When I am using psyllium husk powder as a substitute for xanthan gum I use equal amounts just make sure to use psyllium husk powder not the whole husk
Thank you for the video. Can I use coconut liquid instead of milk?
Yes coconut liquid will work. Just make sure it has a creamy texture so the rolls will be smooth
@@JanetsDeliciousLowCarbKitchen thank you very much!🌺
Is it normal that it has some gritty coconut texture or do i need to finely mill my coconut flour?
It really depends on the type of coconut flour you use. Some brands of coconut flour are more dense than others. I use Anthony's coconut flour and its texture is perfect. If your coconut flour seems dense run it through a coffee grinder for a few seconds to make it more fine
Hi Janet ,..
Is it ok to use Almond milk?
Yes almond milk will work great
I was wondering if I could use cream instead of milk in this recipe. I was thinking that because of the amount of butter in the recipe, the butterfat in the cream shouldn’t be a problem.
Let me know. Thanks.
Yes you can use cream instead of the milk
