Thanks for the review. This highlights one of the issues with UST projectors, the screen has to be absolutely perfect. A UST projector will show up even minor imperfections. Even a cheap ALR UST screen will probably cost several hundred pounds.
Yes totally agree. I wanted to showcase to people that if they're making a big investment in a UST projector like this, that will be only half the story. A high quality ALR Screen is the 2nd half to complete the set, and I'm releasing another video soon showcasing and explaining it with an ALR Screen.
That would be the same with any projector tbh. The really high end triple laser 4k ones come at a cost, that can be very reasonable to watch with a lot of light in the room, but that comes at a cost
Have you had any focus issues with the U5, especially in the upper corners? I’ve read that UST projectors often have this issue and it is something that one needs to ‘live with’. Amazing picture quality in a light room apparently, even with a traditional white screen. Just watched your new ALR screen review too, it looks like you spent more money on the screen and cabinet than the projector.
Hi Jeff. Probably only slightly blurs on the top corners but not noticeable, especially with my ALR Screen, you can't notice it. One thing I'm disappointed is that there isn't an option to reduce overall projection size. A lot of projectors offer up to 50% zooming out for the projection, so with my cabinet and screen combo, it doesn't completely fit perfectly as I can't move my projector any further closer. But glad you liked the videos!
Nice review, thanks. IMHO for this price you could better buy an 80" OLED tv. I have the Screenio U4, but a complete disappointment. Could have beter spent it on a tv.
So ive just had mine. Using a wall right now. But i will be going screen when finances allow. Do you know anywhere that has a full list of what all the options in the advanced video section mean. Been looking around but not found anything yet.
Hey, I haven't found anywhere where it explains all of the options in more detail, but maybe if you Google each setting and see what they mean individually, I'm sure you'll get an idea?
Yeah they don't have the license for Netflix yet, but Philips said they are 'working on it'. Not sure how long it will take, so can't watch Netflix just yet unfortunately
The ALR screen was ordered at the point of filming this, and was delayed in delivery so didn't get a chance to use it, but I use it now for all my other projector reviews

Got mine in March at the backer price. It really is stunning
Looks really nice, but I don't like that you need the lights out to see the image properly.

I can’t seem to find a way to order one in the UK is it not on public release?

The screen and the cabinet will last longer than the projector. :)

How would you add a sound bar and game console to this setup
You can connect them to the hdmi ports to the projector

Will you be trying the UL5?
Not this time round unfortunately. I thought about it but decided not to

Can you re measure your screen - is it really 120inches?
Yes, it's 120"
Using this projector and I see it can't run Netflix. I managed app install but it just show error popup

I ordered mine and never got one, despite being an original backer. Very disappointed in Phillips.
Oh really!? That's pretty bad. Did you get in touch with them or get a refund?
Does it play Netflix the wemax does not
No not yet, but Philips say they are working on getting a license. TBC
Get yourself a proper UST screen.
I have one now - its on my latest video: ua-cam.com/video/H5CFkMt38cg/v-deo.html

Why teh hell are you reviewing a UST without an ALR? This makes absolutely no sense at all.
