Gosh, how much i miss playing ET with mates. All my best Teenage Years have i sunk into that game. No regrets. I would happily pay full prize for a well-made Remake. Those 6v6 Clan Wars/Tournaments were so entertaining, to this Day no other Multiplayer Shooter is so thrilling and exciting.

The best multiplayer FPS I've ever played. The gunplay and teamwork is just sublime. And it actually requires a decent level of skill. Played it from release until around 4 years ago...daily. Nothing has come close, nothing. I only gave up as the server I lived on slowly died and is no more :( Man I miss this game!

Golden days.... This game was the best... I remember playing this in the mid early 2000's... There used to be scrims and team matches on an aus website by Bigpond... The days where I was writing tactics to beat the enemy team in class in early 2000's... Miss this game so much
Was literally the only Fps me and my pals played, tuning into GamesTv every week to watch the legends like mAus, Mystic and Butchji. Truly one of the best fps's of all time
Nice video but some misremembered information here. I think the producer of the video was a public server gamer...so a casual gamer...there was also a huge community of dedicated players, some semi pro, a few full professionals. A few more cool bits that made ET special: The engineer class had the option of a "grenade gun" which let you attach one grenade at a time to the front of the gun and do cool trick shots around corners or shoot grenades over a large distance with high accuracy. The Covert Ops class originally did not have poison gas - only a smoke grenade (very useful to divert attention/aim of enemy). Most professional matches were either 6v6 or 3v3 usually played in two cycles with each time once attacking and once defending on a chosen map. You would try and beat the attacking time that the other team managed to complete the map's objectives in, so a race against time as well as skills. ET at the time was a unique combination of team work, strategy and planning as well as aiming skills.
It was not just popular because it was free. The simple fact you could set up and run your own server was super attractive and got so many people involved. People created their own community, play their favorite servers as they want, plays with friends or regular players with whom they got along, explore new ones with different settings... These days you are forced into a server with people you might never see again, the sense of community is gone, you have no way to run your own server. Thats why ET is still played after 18+ years and more recent games are already dead.
That is a really good point, with BF3/BF4 you could rent your own server and change *any* and *all* rules, add to your favorites, the same sense of 'community' was relatively still there if you played the same servers; with official servers and especially if a game has cancerous "skill based match making" (like the new COD's which also disband lobbies automatically now), the sense of community is just gone, playing with a bunch of random one timers who probably have you muted to be in a Discord server, gaming truly has just been ruined and largely for greed/money . .
You're 100% right. I have never liked any FPS/ SHOOT games since Enemy territory... Golden days man. This game was not about just randomly shooting, it was objective and required skill.. I hate call of duty, absolute trash of a game
This is Game is a Goldmine. Arena Shooter + Objective Based + Time Limit + Strategy + Class Based Team Work + Capture the Flag.... It's too many things in one, and the Physics are superb, with a High Skill Level for budding Twitchy players. Remake! Remake! Reeemake! Hahaha.
I miss my enemy territory clan :( Hell, I still host our server... Our clan died on christmas 2014 when admin gave up, becouse he was creating company, and didnt had a time for playing anymore. Next choosen admin was really new guy and somehow highlander trusted him and than everything collapsed. Within month, from avarage 16 players on server we had 3-4. If new admin was joining server, stuff was happening. He loved admin cheats, didnt pay for website so our forum died out rly quick, he didt pay for hosting, so I emailed highlander, old admin, for passwd for hosting and begged hosting that I will pay immidietly if they can even give me game files or best, restore our server. Success. Couple years in, i still host it on my dedicated box where i do work and entertaiment and shit (yeah, im heavy nerd, entertaiment can be ssh...)
Ohh yeah, when they introduced XP SAVE is was a turn of events for many in the time. It's what made the playerbase go up. I stayed Etpro because I always loved comp but I also enjoyed jaymod or even noquarters. Hell of a game
Man I miss the Wolf days, Patcher was my name I used to be in RRx, we owned ATATT (all tram all the time) and FATT (Fueldump all the time) I would love to catch up with those guys again.
The =FIA= servers have a lot people playing every day nowdays, go to jay1 server for FA, and you will not plays with bots.... Only people... Old mans but real players xD
I use to start playing this as soon as I got home from school almost everyday (mainly during the winter when there was too much snow/it was too cold outside). I remember always getting classes to max rank, and they would reset so I would have to do it again (In reality I think I was just joining different servers and never realized it because I didn't even know what a server was lol!). Man the nostalgia in this video is awesome, well done sir!
This game was ahead of its time. To me, waaaay more fun/complex than CS, in that it didn't always matter how good you are at killing, and more about how good are you working together with your team. Multi-level objectives, simultaneous Attack/Defend maps, pure assault maps, omg I could go on and on. Never liked the bunny hopping, but to keep up, I had to do it. And it had a freakin flamethrower, mortar, and portable MG42 (my fav). Covert Ops class was really innovative and the whole ability to open specific enemy doors and just fool enemies made it absolutely awesome.
I lost myself to this game for a while… i had no idea how inferior this game was as a competitive game compared to cs. Took bani to fix it with ETPro, i mainly played with 7 mines in clan games which was obviously silly. I have good memories but i wish i played cs 1.6. Saying that, as a public game, 8v8 with Etpro was absolutely brilliant
This game was a huge part of my childhood back in the day. 2008? I am so happy to see people still playing this amazing game. I feel like I was tripping back then but there was once this server I joined that modified the whole game into something else entirely.... No idea what it was but maybe I am mixing up memories with FEAR.
Hands down the very best multiplayer game ever created. The movement, the aiming, the trickjumping. This game was the ultimate game for competitive gaming while still being insanely fun for the average joe to run around in. People have been screaming for a proper remake for years but 20 years on there still is no remake in sight and that makes me feel sad because this game encapsulates the fun messing around part along with the hardcore pro gaming stuff.
my fav thing in the world was mods that let you stomp on people and explode them. i would sometimes spend the whole time jumping off cliffs to land on people. the best was eagles and being able to land on people from the high mountain at the beginning. not only was it super fun but if you managed to do it you could sneak past the gate you had to blow up which was the cherry on top.
I played the hell outta this game, mostly as medic....and suicidally running around n doing revives n healing as I was crap at combat. One point I think i actually revived my whole team without being gunned down. Though it was rare id get so lucky. Still it was the one class I was good at.
This game was sooo good, I've spent hundreds and hundreds of hours on it, with my engineer working hard! I hope MachineGames will team up with Splash Damage to offer a new version to the players with the same intensity and quality...
My first FPS game, I remember being hyped after being invited to being a server admin despite being like 11 lmao. The Mod support and all the cool shit in custom servers was endless fun. Wish it were more populated, I would still play it. I still haven't seen FPS games match this level of map design, it made each role pivotal and useful, it was so open which allowed each class to go where they were meant to be, snipers had room, spec ops had close quarters and flanking options, engineers had choke points and objectives and medics had a task.
By far my favorite FPS of all time. I made my own TJ maps and that was very cool. I have no clue how many hours I have spend but it must be over 5k easily. Miss it!
Oh the memories sad most games are not like this and what still makes it fun is how customisable this game is. I remember the skill mod where you get 5 levels per skill and servers saved it, 1st 4 levels are default and they added 5th one for 5 star general. PLUS the maps oh man were some maps amazingly done and some were really creative. I remember a map where if you went wrong drop it sends you to a room that looks like a room someone chops up bodies and you die from the saw blade. Plus black hawk down was another you thinl BF series had big maps this game had a map tool where no custom map file needed they are all hard coded with a static terrain and 3d models were pre made even so people found creative way to make cool maps with them. The map terrain was 1024x1024 and it repeated it self after you go past it and I think it repeats up to 40000km.
I was just gettinf into my mid 20s when this came out and sitting home, bullshitting with my clan (=|||= third reich) and competing in TWL league matches, was some of the funniest nights I have ever spent at home. Most of the time it was better than going out to the bars or clubs here in nyc! Just loved this game!
Nice to see that you playing on the [eG] eLemenT Gaming Server in your video :D There still playing lots of people and keep having fun with this beautiful game. Thanks for this nice video.
Alive server with no bots : 68.232.172.16:27960 (The Old Farts SilentMod) . Open ET then open conslole and type /connect [IP]. I play on it almost every day but don't expect players to be there all the time. Server is even full every now and then.
Man I loved this game I had some kind of disc that had this on it I guess it was like a beta but it just had the multiplayer and I played it so much I wish I could play it again
@@danielabatabogdanov8586 It's so funny after I posted this I started really digging into it and then found on steam and have been playing and been having so much fun but thank you.
I remember the day this dropped and my dad was like “there’s a free pc game out you can play” and I was like 🥲😳😆 “wait what” and when I played it I was like “dad what’s the catch” and I quickly found out this game I played almost every day for two years was completely free wtf
i was Doom and had buddies from all over europe, minnki, limey , springfield and more with super fun of endless hours in early teens, we gotta bring the competition back
Remains to be the best balanced, most fun shooter of all time. No kill streak benefits, no "hero" abilities, no wall climbing nonsense etc. SIMPLY SKILL BASED. This said, no "skilled based matchmaking". U either survive on the battlefields or, u fkn don't.
I played ET soooooo much. No matter what class or side I played on, I would make sure to take a fallen enemies weapon so that when other enemies died it would automatically give me what ammo they had when I walked over their weapon (assuming it was the same). A lot of the modded servers got out of hand. I miss the original servers.
To this day there still exist a few active clans and their servers TWC and F|A to call a couple. I believe TWC's most popular server is NoDownload which runs on Jaymod. F|A has around 2 active servers I believe, dunno about their mods tho. For people who like ETpro there are basically servers by HBC and Hirntot 6map which I believe to be the most active ones. Playing wars IRC might still be your best bet, not too sure about that.
Try it. There are still servers with human players. For example F|A beginners #2 xps usually has 10-32 human players playing unless it's a quiet period.
That was and are my number one favorit game in all time and am still playing It i hope one day they gonna update the game and more pipoel gonna play the game. My favorit server was hamster bou 2 ore hamster. But they deleted the server but i stile love the game. My english suck hahaha
I would love to have an exact 1 for 1 remake in the Battlefield 1 engine... I think it would work beautifully... Classic stages with the BF1 assets... New stages... I would totally buy it, I loved the focus on class structured objective based combat.
Q3 engine was great fit because of the movement, BF1 just wouldn't work. If ET ever gets a remake (one is going on but doesn't look too promising) it needs to have same kind of movement as the original.
Was amazing untill the hacks and cheaters became too much of a problem. Was in a clan with a great group of guys (and a few girls) of all ages from all over the world. Miss this
Damn I played this game so much back in the days. On the Spartan server. Double hopping around, throwing chicken grenades and screaming IM A MEDIC non stop. I seriously still know all the voice chat commands haha. V 3 2 NEED A MEDIC i believe it was Never had so much fun with an online FPS which was goofy on one hand but also required serious skills
need remake of this game, was one of the best! imagine this gameplay on this days! man we need to do a world request of this game and share it! even if we pay for game the gameplay is worth as fk!
Quake Script engine in ET and OW didnt even have a custom crosshair on release and they call that shit nowadays esport. ET to this day has better balance than BF1 for example. Btw, TF1 wasn't bad just so old and clunky. The classes and abilites were kinda cool but the particles and animations were just not there yet.
There is a command for admins to revive in spectator death cam, so if anyone died, you could revive them into someone elses class, but keep your class, weird bug ehh, so I revived a medic and he spawned as an engineer lmao.
My most played game and my most beloved one i played it for almost 10 years i used to be an admin in the server of the clan Generation of Chaos ([GoC]Aymoun) i was addicted to the sound of headshots and i ended up having always high hs rate just for that xD anyway the mouvement the aim the class the maps the game was so attractive to me that i left cs and focused only on ET. Anyway for me the best ever fps game i really miss all the mates from 2007 to 2017 wish you all the best
Alignn In the original Return to Castle Wolfenstein, yes. In WolfET they're called Field Ops. Soldier, Field Ops, Engineer, Medic, Covert Ops are the five classes of Enemy Territory.
I used to play this back in the day for almost 7 years, I loved the game and all the team aspect, classes, maps I wonder if would be successful today F2P maybe with seasons, but I think the skill aspect would make people quit you didn't need to be the best aim in the world but you have to be decent at least to be able to do something in a match, and today that aspect is reduced maybe it could work with crossplay with consoles and aim assist which sucks but that's how it is these days.

RTCW and ET were some of the best gaming years of my life! So much fun!

Same here, I played so much. Wolf:ET, but also CoD:UO. They don't make multiplayer games like those anymore.
Yeah can't forgot RTCW, that's the precursor, great game.
This game is STILL alive and there's still a player base!
Servers are slowly dwindling tho... such a shame. I still think that there is no better multiplayer FPS than ET was.

I was just gettinf into my mid 20s when this came out and sitting home, bullshitting with my clan (=|||= third reich) and competing in TWL league matches, was some of the funniest nights I have ever spent at home. Most of the time it was better than going out to the bars or clubs here in nyc! Just loved this game!
been at ET player for 13 years (still am)
I played on dial up way back in the day, where do you play now?
@@bowserhoudini5588 i play on the =F|A= server most popular one. there are still a few clans up an running :D
Nice to see that you playing on the [eG] eLemenT Gaming Server in your video :D
There still playing lots of people and keep having fun with this beautiful game.
Thanks for this nice video.
Wunderbar!
Make ET great again!
Former ıfunı clan player here
Ah yes. Used to be 2nd biggest clan on any game. A very similar clan is ET clan. Still active
i just thought about that
"wunderbar!"
Alive server with no bots : 68.232.172.16:27960 (The Old Farts SilentMod) . Open ET then open conslole and type /connect [IP]. I play on it almost every day but don't expect players to be there all the time. Server is even full every now and then.
Old farts is US server so it is active durring graveyard hours for me. Always wanted to play with ya guy tho.
Man when I was 15 I was in the 2nd top clan in Australia in this game
Man I loved this game I had some kind of disc that had this on it I guess it was like a beta but it just had the multiplayer and I played it so much I wish I could play it again
its on steam now.. come and play
@@danielabatabogdanov8586 It's so funny after I posted this I started really digging into it and then found on steam and have been playing and been having so much fun but thank you.
@@Shaner9er i just shot you
This was such an awesome game.
I remember the day this dropped and my dad was like “there’s a free pc game out you can play” and I was like 🥲😳😆 “wait what” and when I played it I was like “dad what’s the catch” and I quickly found out this game I played almost every day for two years was completely free wtf
The one time I wouldn't mind A.I. narration.
i was Doom and had buddies from all over europe, minnki, limey , springfield and more with super fun of endless hours in early teens, we gotta bring the competition back
ETQW was great, and it is apparently back.
I wish I could go back and have as much fun as I did back then.
its on steam now.. come and play
such a good game, sunk many hours into ET.
would pay 100$ and buy all loot boxes available for a remake, even if EA released it
Honestly, patch 2.56 was the best patch with servers like TWC, SHX, and AR. Fookin Legendary
Co and HA too
Remains to be the best balanced, most fun shooter of all time. No kill streak benefits, no "hero" abilities, no wall climbing nonsense etc.
SIMPLY SKILL BASED.
This said, no "skilled based matchmaking". U either survive on the battlefields or, u fkn don't.
its on steam now.. come and play
I never got to play this back in the day. I would love to try it now.
Try it. There are still servers with human players. For example F|A beginners #2 xps usually has 10-32 human players playing unless it's a quiet period.
Jay 1 server of F|A is most of the time full
i feel sorry for you man, i spend on this over 12000 hours, played it for mor ethan 10 years.
Never got to play? Lol how so?
im still playing this now lol
This is the best game Ever!
That was and are my number one favorit game in all time and am still playing It i hope one day they gonna update the game and more pipoel gonna play the game. My favorit server was hamster bou 2 ore hamster. But they deleted the server but i stile love the game. My english suck hahaha
The end game awards still the best. 'Darwin Award'
amazing game,if u want to find a good server try team muppet it has constant players and nice ppl they have a forum and discord
I would love to have an exact 1 for 1 remake in the Battlefield 1 engine... I think it would work beautifully... Classic stages with the BF1 assets... New stages... I would totally buy it, I loved the focus on class structured objective based combat.
I loved the Q3 engine though.
Q3 engine was great fit because of the movement, BF1 just wouldn't work. If ET ever gets a remake (one is going on but doesn't look too promising) it needs to have same kind of movement as the original.
I wonder if it was because I was young or if it's just nostalgia but man this game was so damn fun and I miss it dearly
Man I miss this game. I miss the Evil Smurfs clan. RIP GaD

Was amazing untill the hacks and cheaters became too much of a problem. Was in a clan with a great group of guys (and a few girls) of all ages from all over the world. Miss this
They are well monitored. All the mods have 10+ year exp and smell a hacker miles away.
Damn I played this game so much back in the days. On the Spartan server. Double hopping around, throwing chicken grenades and screaming IM A MEDIC non stop. I seriously still know all the voice chat commands haha. V 3 2 NEED A MEDIC i believe it was
Never had so much fun with an online FPS which was goofy on one hand but also required serious skills
need remake of this game, was one of the best!
imagine this gameplay on this days! man we need to do a world request of this game and share it! even if we pay for game the gameplay is worth as fk!
Quake Script engine in ET and OW didnt even have a custom crosshair on release and they call that shit nowadays esport. ET to this day has better balance than BF1 for example. Btw, TF1 wasn't bad just so old and clunky. The classes and abilites were kinda cool but the particles and animations were just not there yet.
they reworked CSGO, why no ET :(
@@faderneslandet3489 yep that!
Cortex... great moments were made on that map.
its on steam now.. come and play
There is a command for admins to revive in spectator death cam, so if anyone died, you could revive them into someone elses class, but keep your class, weird bug ehh, so I revived a medic and he spawned as an engineer lmao.
I remember playing this and posting in the Funny Farm Clan forum right when the internet started developing
People still play ET. Not as many servers and players, but some are still full on a consistent basis.
Anyway for me the best ever fps game i really miss all the mates from 2007 to 2017 wish you all the best
medic !! ... medic !!! ... Dynamite planted!
Which class had the airstrike smoke grenade? I remember you could use binoculars to request a smaller strike on a distant location, too
Alignn That would be the Field Ops. The one who throws ammo boxes around.
Sounds right. Thought they were called lieutenants for some reason...
Alignn In the original Return to Castle Wolfenstein, yes.
In WolfET they're called Field Ops.
Soldier, Field Ops, Engineer, Medic, Covert Ops are the five classes of Enemy Territory.
Field ops.
@@d00d1973 "Enemy in the skies"
They are making enemy territory 2 which shall be an exciting game
I used to play this back in the day for almost 7 years, I loved the game and all the team aspect, classes, maps I wonder if would be successful today F2P maybe with seasons, but I think the skill aspect would make people quit you didn't need to be the best aim in the world but you have to be decent at least to be able to do something in a match, and today that aspect is reduced maybe it could work with crossplay with consoles and aim assist which sucks but that's how it is these days.
its on steam now.. come and play
Still Rocking the Ets silent 0.9.0 server.
And at that time free didn't mean free to play with monetization or something. They just dumped the game on the community and forgot about it.
attention to detail in this game i remember playing it at 4-5 years old :P lol
