- Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory is a free and open-source multiplayer first-person shooter video game within the Wolfenstein series. It was originally planned to be released as a commercial expansion pack to Return to Castle Wolfenstein and later as a standalone game. However, due to problems with the single-player aspect, the multiplayer portion was released on 29 May 2003 as a freeware standalone game. In January 2004, the source code for the game logic (not the game engine) was released to the benefit of its modding community.

Dirty Bomb. It shares the same mechanics as Enemy Territory. People still play it, but it's full of pros
I’ll probably be a little more competent at it. ET was hard cause the frame rate for me sucked :(

@voodooyam I enjoy playing Urban Terror! As it reminds me of Parkour Counter Strike. The playerbase isn't what it used to be like in the early 2000s and 2010s. I'm still waiting for Urban Terror HD, that they announced like in 2010!

This game was sooooooo good and ahead of its time. And freakin FREE! I was hooked on ET for years and years. This was the best team-based game for me at the time.

i never knew how it worked. took me years to figure out you have to look at your map to see where your shot landed and adjust from there
some servers offered 2nd cam of the flying explosive , where it is going@@DutchDukeMan
If you're amazed by the bunnyhops. there is a thing called trickjump servers. there are hundreds of maps made by people where you would either jump across platforms and you will reach insane speeds. and there are trickjumps where you can jump and land in specific spots to basically fly across the map. i used to spend hours on it but it was super difficult

It's still big, Trickjump. It is indeed a bit of a learning curve initially but once you get the principle of it, it's not too difficult. As long as you stay away from the reallly hard maps. Over the years the skill floor has increased significantly but to this day the main TJ servers still hold about 15 people during evening hours almost daily. I still enjoy it a lot, there's nothing like it out there in modern games.
The sad part is that (almost) every server is crowded with bot players and not real people.
I used to play this game a lot many years ago, especially on the NoQuarter servers that had that mod enabled; more weapons, more skills, more ranks.
noquarter servers with unlimited ammo were legendary, damn it has been years tho lol
@@maxfolio940 For what I can remember, there were limited ammo and you had to find more or get from Field Ops.

u ever got to play on the lord of the rings and toy story inspired maps ? they where so rare to find but so much fun, in my teens i played this game alot and i never fully understood how to actually win on them maps hehe
I played both helms deep and toy story, they were fun.

Its crazy to think that just a year later Half life 2 would come out. The leap in graphical quality is insane.
I truly loved this game as a kid. I just found out it was on Xbox for beta testing at some point but it's long gone now. If it was surly this should be returning!? I don't have a Windows PC and sadly it can't run on my M2 MacBook as not up to date with the system so won't run. I'd love it on anything I own but as for now seems to real way.
Between just this and Diablo 2 (+ LOD expansion) I think about nearly a decade of my life vanished 😂.
Hands down the best multiplayer FPS ever made for me (cod, fortnite, medal of honor, battlefield, etc.. areall bitter disappointments in its wake).
Used to love even just the OG map cycles on this game - everything about it was just special in every way.
I can still remember all the time exchanging scripts and inline console commands getting the setup (FOV, max-frames and whatnot) all 'just so' for that perfect experience, of course all different for different mods (i used to be quite partial to jaymod).
Splatterladder auto/implicit rankings was well ahead of its time aswell.
Modern FPS games owe a lot to the OGs of the genre like this - giants and shoulders come to mind.
Shout-out to FA (fearless assassins) who i used to be enlisted in (many) days gone by.
This game was the best. Kills were nice but it was really about the objective and if you had a team of all the classes working together you would succeed. I would switch to what my team needed and do whatever I could do to win, kills were not relevant. That said I think I cracked 90 kills a number of times, 2 with MG42, the rest medic. With the MG42 and a field ops supplying me with ammo I had the devils paintbrush and could deny an area. It was really 2 lanes on one map, otherwise you are a useless teammate choosing that gun. The other is the rambo medic. At max level you get an adrenaline shot ability that gives you damage reduction so i could sprint into groups and kill them all. I mastered switching to my dual pistols at 29 rounds spent so it wouldn't start a reload and I had 2 more mags to empty. Plus you can give yourself med packs in downtime so you are always at full hp. Enemy Territory rules!

If you notice it dings when you get head shots. The sten is great for that, you aim a little low and it will go up and ding ding ding your done.

Funny I just was on a nam server.
I played this a few years ago and got hooked for quite a while. I just found it enjoyable and most importantly, it was free and just overall a hassle free experience. With mods, it makes for even greater gameplay. There are some mods that were just straight up humour and those were really nice to see.
The framerate issue is related to new GPUs. You can open the console and run /r_primitives 2 and you should be more than fine :)
bro take the circle outta ur aim and shoot only with dot and make dot smalller and diff color and there so many other commands . havent played like 6 months in fa server coming bak next month see u then. was name by ogitheguy
lol, i have a gtx 1650 and it goes over 125 fps, maybe theres something wrong with ur pc

just want to note that double-jumping is NOT standard in the base game, and is partly why the movement seemed so insane here.
Spent so much time on these maps, they were always very well balanced!
I dont know but you tried to set /r_primitives 2 in console for better performance?

I'm pretty sure these cmd's should do it with framerate issues:
r_primitives 2
r_displayrefresh (144 or whatever your monitor's max hz capacity is)
com_maxfps 125
vid_restart
native resolution:
r_mode -1
r_customwidth 1920
r_customheight 1080
vid_restart
You can see your framerate by using
cg_drawfps 1
(r_ cmd's require a "vid_restart" to take effect.)
Also, it's possible to experience certain wonkyness, especially in those big "funmod" servers (with all community modifications such as doublejumps). Some netsetting related cmd's can affect how much playings are "lagging" around, but I have never experienced those type of public servers perfectly clean.

As a super fan of this game: you need to use the voice lines - first of all it makes you enjoy the game even more + you can call a engineer to repair a tank, wall, door etc. Also you can call a medic to drop some medicine for you to heal yourself.
Believe me once your in the realm - you will fkn love this game :D. All i can say - WUNDERBAR!!!
Also checkout etlegacy and get their version since they updated all the stuff you would need for it to run really smooth on newer computers :))

Skies off, lowest graphs, no blood on screen and you can run this game 125 fps on any pc/laptop. Green dot, no cruisor reaction. Best times i have ever had in a game. 2004-2016. I hope this game never dies.

I used to play in loby's full of other players and 0 bots, how far this game has fallen. I would love to see a resurgance.
U should use ET Legacy. And theres a great EU server called TeamMuppet that gets lots of players during EU evenings. I think theres couple NA serverst too that have some players.
Patch 2.56 was all time best
