Mid-March 2017 I had the incredible opportunity to take part in a track day at Bahrain International Circuit. We only had one day, hence the slow pace, but it was a lot of fun and very memorable: We enjoyed the tuition of some fabulous instructors, ranging from 125cc & 250cc Grand Prix world champion Manuel Poggiali to Dandi Morigi, who I was lucky to have as my personal instructor. That combined with the extremely likeable DRE team and racing under floodlights at a famous Formula 1 track was just awesome.
The track is not hard to learn but seems to be made for cars rather than bikes with multiple straights and some very tight corners. Doesn't mean it's not fun on a bike though :-P Riding a Ducati 899 Panigale on track for the first time was very cool. The sound of the bike is just awesome, even though I had some trouble with wind noise while recording. We had the standard footpegs switched for performance units due to their grip and some slicks mounted; other than that the bikes were original and - afaik - provided by Ducati Bahrain & Wheels of Arabia who also supply the Bahrain Superbike Championship. - Авто та транспорт
The Ducati 998 is 20 years old and has officially never won the world championship, so is it a good track bike? Let's find out: ua-cam.com/video/JpNEYd_Z6eQ/v-deo.html 😊
Dude learn how to rev match its painful to watch u downshift and the bike's choking like that...
Nguyen Kevin Opinions are divided on this. I don't struggle with my rear wheel locking up, so changing gears like this works fine for me.
it's not about locking up mate but this will definitely harm your damage in the long run. this is from a biker to another biker. I'm not dissing or anything it's just the bike will be less jerky, much smoother and you'll need less brake power as well. My apology for the previous harsh comment but I really think that rev-matching will be a better solution for your riding style. Whichever you choose, ride safe and have fun!
Install auto blipper . done
I just paused the video to look if anyone else found it "not conventional" and bam! the first comment :D
Yeah, that was my first though.
And I drive and crappy 125cc, still can't imagine not doing it for some reason
Nice bike and track brother. You're selling your self short in the experience on how to handle a bike without rev-matching. It's a beautiful thing once mastered.
The 899 panigale has settings for the quickshifter and engine braking. Why do what the bike does for you?
Great video !
Could you tell me which support you use to hold the camera ? I'm looking for something like that on my 899. Thanks ;)
Thanks! It's the original GoPro suction cup, I put it right on the tank. I feel that is one of the most reliable mounts, even though it's in the way when you duck behind the wind shield.
R6 or 899 Panigale?
Which one should I get.
Would the 899 Panigale smoke the R6?
And is it also possible to wheelie it like the r6?
Well, the 899 is better on paper: more displacement, hp, and torque. Meanwhile it weighs only about 3kg more than the R6. However, the Panigales are more difficult to ride than inline 4s. I'd say it's a matter of preference. Yes, the 899 can wheelie. It can also stoppie and do other naughty things. And don't forget the looks and the sound ;)
Is it in race mode? You USe race for street ? Or is it Not Save? Are all off than (helpers ) abs tc wheeli Control and so? Or are they just on and enough? Please Tell me the Differenz beteuern Sport and Race mode
I rode in sport mode here because we only had one night and I was not familiar with the track. If I remember correctly, race mode does not turn (all) helpers off. Per each helper (ABS, DTC, EBC) you have several levels you can use and race mode reduces their intrusion compared to sport mode. I would not ride the bike in race mode on the road, there's no point in doing that in my opinion.
@@DonnieDesmo But in Some other Videos they say it’s Night and day from Sport to race. 🫤
@@Ktimerrr I'd rather say it's night and day between wet mode and sport mode because wet mode actually reduces power. In general, the 899 is not that powerful and the power comes at the top, so you don't have a mid-range torque monster that needs DTC just to keep you from highsiding coming out of corners.
@@DonnieDesmo hey, no no i mean the Big Differenz between Sport and Race Mode. You Never feel it? All say That the 899 in Race Mode is More powerfull much More. As in Sport. Is it possible Race Mode and tc and abs on? That Could be the best of all.
@@Ktimerrr I looked around the internet because it's been a while since I rode this bike last time. This is the most accurate description I've found: "The throttle response can be set to low medium or high. In sport and race mode there is no difference in power output, but the stock setting is for medium throttle response in sport and high throttle response in race." So you have the same power output, but a more snappy throttle response. AFAIK, you can adjust the riding aids in sport and race mode and least partly, and there's a completely custom mode, too.
How much does it cost to do a track day is
That depends on your riding level. Google "dre bahrain" and you will find a comparison :)
Mega geil 😍
Danke! 👍
Hey bro, where did you mount the camera?
The camera is right on the tank, mounted with a suction cup.
@@DonnieDesmo i've got 959 (asssuming they share the same fuel tank) - my go pro suction cup doesnt seems to hold as its not flat. which tank mount did you use?
@@auwda I had to try around a bit too until it worked. I put it between the fuel lid and the seat, quite close to the fuel lid. This part was just flat enough to make it work. I used the official standard GoPro suction cup. It was pretty close to my upper body then, so I really couldn't bend over the tank without touching the camera - 0 wind protection left.
Doppellinks Bahrain ist die Hölle 🙈
Für Motorräder sowieso ein ungewöhnliches Layout, ein bisschen viel Stop-and-Go für meinen Geschmack 🤓
Hi is your gopro mounted on fuel tank cap?
No, it was mounted just behind the fuel cap towards the rider. That was The only place on the tank with enough Room for the big suction cup.
Awesome track ride. Just subscribed to your channel. Do check out my channel. Keep vlogging 👍🏼
Thanks a lot! 👍
Cute...... Lol
