    Halfthor has the deadlift, but those squat and bench numbers from Dan will be difficult for Bjornsson. It will be exciting to see his attempt!

      His squats are incredible, especially when he gets close to his prime weight. His squat was close to his raw deadlift then. It was deep and got red lighted because of bad judging.
      The bench is problematic though elite powerlifting-wise.
      If he specialized though for a few years. Wow. The problem though is if he can handle more years and get away without harm.

      @@Jet735 Paul wasn’t really a powerlifter more of a strongman who practiced and excelled in the big 3 lifts along with many others. Haack however puts up numbers that most SHWs can’t even touch at less than 100kg

      @@benedict5544 They are neck and neck in their own ways in my opinion. Jesus has more deadlift potential but his grip is still an issue because when he has done 900 a couple times one hand slips and he can never lock it out. Thor has excess potential in the bench because he has barely touched it and he added 50lbs on it previously doing a 2 month powerlifting prep. Then he did a 2 second pause with his new max.

    @LiftingVault You said at 1:43 that hafthor back in 2018 had an 1100 "pound" total, but in fact it was a 1100 KILO total! A 500Kg toal for ALL 3 lifts combined wouldn't be that astonishing for such a tall and strong guy😉

      You guys miss the point , his bench is lacking because he never trained flat benches , he hit 250kg after only a month of prep, if he focuses on bench he could easily get up to 280-290 probably, good indicator is that he did more reps with 100kg dumbells than Eddie , bench is where Thor will improve the most

    I don't think he'll match the squat but he'll make it up in the deadlift I bet. Then it will come down to the bench and I always thought he was pretty conservative in bench and has more potential than what he has been showing. It possible and will be close.

      @@cameronearls6497 Thor's last "powerlifting meet" was also at his gym, so it is a reasonable wish. If you want to actually break the total world record, you have to do it in a meet with others.

    Interesting challenge, he is going to need those 50 kilos he lost to get back to that level.
    I'm assuming he's going to aim for a 480 kilos squat, 270 bench press, and 440 deadlift. He has a lot of room for improvement in the bench press, and for the deadlift he can improve his grip, it seems to be the limiting factor, but he has huge hands, deadlift gives him advantage over the other athlete.

    I have a question for bench press. After the changes that states the elbows need to be 90 degrees does the bar still have to touch the chest if the elbows are 90 degrees?

I got long arms so really it'd help me to not full rep and fuck that. i wanna do a rep if i'm gonna do a rep. No calling it good 80% down kuz i can. hit, take a breathe, and push.

    He definitely has the 410 pull, but he has a long way to go for a 272.5 bench and the 500 squat in a full meet is bonkers.

      I don't think he is going to get to 500 squat. Probably somewhere around 460-470. And pull 420-430. But I feel that he is going to make huge progress on his amateur-level 1.2*bw benchpress. Probably around 280-300kg, still just 1.5*bw though.

    How much difference does the monolift make on the squat?

      For raw lifters not *heaps*. Malinichev basically squatted the same out of squat stands as he did a mono. The effect/difference is more noticeable the wider your squat and Thor is pretty narrow.

      @@tnb6359 Yes it seems unlikely but even Dan Bell off cycle had been performing a lot of squat singles in the 8-900 range since he hit 1000lbs in his ATWR total, Thor will gain a massive amount of weight, he has muscle memory and PEDs. Also, Thor doesn't typically go RPE 10 on any movement so he is typically getting stronger and never emptying the gas tank, always saving it for the platform. That's what he did for his bench Pr and world record deadlift. He can look weak in training and then he takes big jumps at competition time.

    Very doubtfull, the Squat is really far far away and he is not built for it. Bench will be similiar in the end compared to Bell, but he's also not that great of a bencher. I dont think his deadlift will be able to make up for it.

      Last time he got a 460 squat, which didn't count but looked very decent. For benchpress, he is only at an amateur level with about 1.2*bw bench. It also means there is lots of room to improve. Considering even 300kg is just only about 1.5bw by then.

      I'd honestly put my money on Eddie. They seem(ed) relatively even on deadlift (maybe Eddie's grip would cause him trouble), but Eddie has a clear advantage on pressing, and I think on squat as well.

      Squat would be close. Thor would beat Eddie on deadlift due to grip strength & Eddie would smoke Thor on bench. Would probably be fairly close overall
      You'd need to have Eddie from early 2016 prior to his hand injury

It's that Thor always tries to break records by inviting a few of his bros to his home gym and calling it a "meet," when everyone knows the whole thing is setup to make him as comfortable as possible. It's much harder to break records when dealing with the stress of an actual competition where you don't control all the variables.

      @@EVO6- 1. that's where the biggest (non-tested) meets are. 2. Thor hasn't competed in a "real" meet (a meet he hasn't organized and a meet outside of his home gym). I'm sure OP wouldn't mind if he competed at one of the big Eastern Europe WRPF meets with Yuri and Krystopf. But, competing in his home gym with Runar and his dad is nonsense

      His height and athleticism are what makes him a legend at strongman. Doesn't necessarily translate to power lifting. He's got to move the weight a lot farther than shorter, stockier guys. Obviously he's still at the elite level, but if he's going to start chasing world records, he's got a long way to go in terms of strategy and technique, particularly in the bench.

      Thor when being asked that question said that initially being small you are stronger, but with time the sheer larger frame means that you can carry more muscle mass in total and ultimately you can be stronger than any smaller athlete.

    what number does he need on each lift?
    530, 1030,1050? just needs to beat 2606.
    hes done 550, 1089, 1100 albeit at a heavier body weight and not in the same comp on the same day. i was doubting but now i think hes gonna do it

      The 501kg deadlift was in a suit with straps and he won't be using either at a meet. The most he's done at a meet was about 904lbs.
      I'm not saying he can't break the total WR, but I wouldn't focus too much on the 501kg pull in particular.

      As a Strongman, it was basically his job to have an amazing grip, yet he still couldn't hold on to a 430Kg Deadlift. What makes you think this time around he can do 24Kg more?

    I think Thor takes it no problem. His 460 squat was a harsh call and flew up. Deadlift he’ll be close to a thousand pounds. Bench he’s never trained properly and will make big gains.
