Broken by 1kg, that was so Thoresque.

no one is gonna break Benedikt's deadlift record of 461kgs...... no straps, no suit, ONE regulation belt
Can’t believe how strong they are at such young ages man 😂 crazy
Not all sumos are created equally, his hand placement was actually decent seeing the height clearance as a result.
Sumos are not cheating on stiff bars. It's only the deadlift bar (the Kabuki deadlift bar in particular) that really games it.

Personally, conventional is harder to do. But I genuinely wish this none sense would go away. The rules are what they are. I genuinely think these guys should stop ruining this channel's conversation and take their complaints to the relevant ruling body of powerlifting.
@@Dmoriarty1993 you are talking emotionally. You admit conventional is harder it is literally a different lift. Obviously the guy is strong and a beast but its not a true triumph as it was not done under the same conditions.

That's what I was thinking. They're literally under the bar the whole way. It looks dodgy as fuck to me.
Never mid his spotter behind him that goes down and up with him the whole way.
Jawan has been strong enough. He's just had a few bad meets in a row

Jawan did a sort of sumo deadlift ? Jesse did regular deadlift. Is that allowed for the record ?
In the sport of powerlifting, sumo and conventional deadlift are the same movement.
So it's basically like Thor beat Eddie's deadlift with 1kg .
and like how Eddie hall beat a WR by 1 kg too before his 500 kg lift
@@patootie3529 which WR ? Not aware of that
@@Fit_You123 Eddie in 2014 attempted a 461 kg deadlift, which would have been 1 kg above wr. March of 2015 he did 462 kg and months later he did 463 kg. @@Fit_You123 very normal for everyone to beat a record by 1 kg so they have the chance to keep breaking it by another kg the next time. ppl who shat on Thor for it were butthurt that the legendary first 500 was beaten, that's all
I can understand why you would consider sumo a different lift. But why bring ROM into this? Recently i tried 205 kg and could barely budge it offf ground, then went down to 202.5 and fully locked it out. 1% difference between 10cm and 60 cm ROM....
Also why tf people say sumo is not impressive. If it's a different lift, then 500kg sumo is as impressive as 500kg conventional, since WR is the same in both lifts.

Jesse Norris was way ahead of John Haack back then (no disrespect intended, just stating facts for perspective).
I guess he totaled like 500lbs more than John at the time. I think even Ben Rice was totalling more than John over a decade ago.
But alas, the best ability is availability.
The same way the consensus PL 🐐 Ed Coan surpassed Joe Ladnier (said to have had more potential than Ed but suffered major injuries) - John surpassed Jesse eventually. Now John Haack is the 🐐 over Ed Coan as some would argue.
Jesse got injured, tried to make a comeback and got injured again, started a family and stopped posting eventually. No idea what he's up to now.
I would way argue that haack is absolutely the goat of powerlifting
Yes
At 217lb body weight haack did 2300
At 217lb body weight coan did 2420
What makes coan very hard to dethrone is that he competed 4 weight divisions and still matched it with the super heavy weight.
This is the equivalent of john haack trying to match Jesus Oliveras today .
I don’t actually know if john is better. Even though i like him better 😊
@@hansneggs thanks for the info, bro.
I'm not really invested into GOAT debates - across all sports. It's an exhausting and contentious topic. I just simply appreciate anybody who reaches legendary status.
So yeah, people are entitled to their opinions. I won't argue with anybody on who they consider the GOAT.haha
On who I like more, I like them both and have taken inspiration from both - maybe I like John more but just a bit.haha
@@hansneggs it should also be considered Ed Coan never competed in a full power meet raw. Only single Ply. He has also competed in wraps as well.
Put these power lifters in a squat rack… it’s BS having 5 spotters “not touching” the weight as the lifter squats in a 2/3rds range of motion. Have these guys actually squat, with their hips rotating and quads engaging, instead of these quasi good morning / half sqauts
tested dont mean shit, hes on roids like everyone else.
All top guys uses. Same thing every sport if you go to top level.
Nah, he is 100% natural, he competes in the tested. You cannot use roids in tested meets because they test you, and the tests cannot be fooled. There are only natural people in the tested federation due to the high standards of testing in the tested federation. The tests are perfect. Testing meanigs you cannot be using steroids, hence the testing works.

What an idiot
Why would anyone wanna do anything meaningful in powerlifting? Are you slow or something.
Yeeeeah that sumo shit doesnt count
While I'm not a fan of sumo, it is what it is. If it legitimately has any advantage over conventional deadlift, then the men and women of powerlifting need to adopt it to win. Hopefully, sumo and conventional will be separated in the future. I haven't watched this channel in a while, but it seems like shame to plague this channel's comments with the same rhetoric as before.
Edit: Seriously, no one needs to cover the same topic in every video's comments!
When people say "sumo and conventional should be separated" what do you mean? Do you think powerlifting meets should have lifters do 4 lifts? Should there be separate meets for sumo and conventional? Should we go back and separate all the records to see who pulled sumo and who pulled conventional?
I don't know. I would consider it a different record considering he pulled Sumo.
