- Ash Ketchum is leaving the Pokémon anime. After achieving World Champion in a recent Pokémon Journeys episode, The Pokémon Company has announced a new epilogue series following Ash's final adventures in becoming a Pokémon Master! We're at the end of an era.
Ash Ketchum has been the main protagonist of the Pokémon series for 25 years, but it's time to say goodbye. The upcoming epilogue series "Pokémon: Aim To Be A Pokémon Master" brings back familiar faces like Brock and Misty, while giving fans one final sendoff for the character who's been here since the beginning. What comes next for Ash Ketchum and Pikachu? How will the Pokémon anime adapt Scarlet and Violet in the next series?

It’s been a long ride Ash and Pikachu. I didn’t watch every single series but the ones I did watch were some to remember. Thank you for being apart of my childhood although it still does not feel right. 😢❤

As a kid born in 2008, I feel absolutely honored to have been a 2000s kid, seeing and growing up with, old Nickelodeon shows, old Disney Channel shows, and this. I feel bad for the generations 2009-2010+ that never got to experience what we have experienced. I say bottom of my heart that I loved Ash, not only as a character/icon, but a part of my childhood. I am currently crying, thinking about all of the good memories I made with Pokémon. But it is time for me to move on with my life and learn to tell my children about my childhood, so that they can enjoy it.

As another 2009 kid, I also saw the same things because my parents never gave me new Pokemon episodes. It's been nice watching him, but things are honestly not meant to last forever. The only thing we can pray for is that he gets a cameo, or perhaps have an epic battle where he fights the new MCs.

So this is the last of Ash and Pikachu adventures. This is sad but I think the actor who voices Ash is retiring and she is busy with other projects ideas so new Heroes have no clue about the return of Jesse, James, and Meowth of Team Rockets aka the Slapstick Relief.

I give props to the anime for doing this for this long. The anime has always gone hand in hand with the game. The hype back in the 90s when pokemon red/blue came out was amazing, but the anime boosted that hype 10x. I was a teenager when this happened, and experiencing that is the main reason why I've stuck by pokemon and always will.
It's good because they always held Ash back so they could keep him around
I remember watching and growing up with Pokemon Diamond and Pearl and Pokemon Black and White, and it’s sad to see something from your childhood come to an end 💔😥. But hey, it’s better to end something on a high note than to keep it around for so long where it will eventually get stale and repetitive.

This is the best and deserved ending for Ash for all the fuckery they dealt to him in D&P and XYZ.
I’m proud of Ash’s journey! He has worked hard to achieve the impossible and it finally happened! I know that it sucks to move on but the ending of something is the start of something new!

I’m not going to lie, I wasn’t ready. I wasn’t sure they were really going to retire Ash from the anime. As someone who has been watching the anime since the original series, this is really an emotional moment. I get why they’re doing it and I’m glad we get 11 more episodes before his journey comes to a close, but it still doesn’t hurt any less. While I’m excited for the next chapter in the anime, I’m still going to miss Ash and Pikachu. I will always strive to be the very best that no one ever was. And hey, with the Pokémon movies having their own continuity, maybe Ash will be the main protagonist in the films instead? One can only hope.
That's actually what I am wondering. So far movie Ash is a rookie trainer with only 2 Pokémon, Pikachu and Charizard. They could easily keep him and tell new stories with him in the movies. The only issue with that is that he didn't have most of the same experiences as the Ash we watched in the anime. Movie Ash never even became friends with Misty or Brock. Although, they could use that as a reason to bring beloved classic characters like them back to the movies.
I've only been watching g since bw anime, and it still hits hard.

It’s incredible in this 25 years, the kids who began that journey with Ash are now fathers, mothers, college graduates, adults with responsibilities and some have passed on. It’s an incredible end of an era. As someone who hasn’t followed Pokemon since Red/Blue, I look forward to saying goodbye. Ironically, I will be graduating college in 2023. Its hard not to feel some attachment to Ash finally accomplishing his dream. Let’s go out big. Let’s not be sad but have one big celebration. Not just for Ash and the franchise but for everything we have accomplished in that 25 years, the people we lost and to great memories ahead. This will be an incredible sendoff for my generation.

My guess is they won't do another 25 year long run with the characters. They'll prob do new protags per gen, ontop of that we will likely have Ash Era characters making appearances every now and then.

I gotta hand it to Game Freak or whoever made the anime. This was an incredible series of episodes and everyone’s incredible sad to see the main character go. That’s when you know it was a good anime.

I grew up watching (and playing) Pokémon in the 1990s and 2000s, and loved every minute of it, that was my childhood and I'm thankful for the experience. I never thought Ash's storyline would end in the anime, that he would always just move on to the next region and continue his adventure. But he finally won a championship, good for him! This is really bittersweet. So long, old friend.
I remember first watching him since Kids WB, Ash ketchum will always be a legend since my childhood, he always taught me to keep catching and NEVER stopping. Thanks ash for everything 🥲❤️❤

It’s been fun for Ash in the Pokémon franchise. He saved the world dozens of times, he left some of his Pokémon behind to make room for a new team each saga, he always defeats Team Rocket every time, he learns each lesson from his friends and adversaries, and most importantly of all, he’s now a true Pokémon champion all thanks to his pal Pikachu. With Scarlet and Violet coming in April, Liko and Roy are Ash’s true successors and hopefully will follow his lead after 25 years of adventures. Best of luck to the two of them on their journey together as a team.

Even though Ash's story is finally coming to an end, i'm hoping this won't be the official end of the Pokemon franchise because you know they could always start over with some new character like a next generation sort of thing of whatever.

Pokemon was there my whole life and its like all I knew. I'm 30 now and aah leaving was a good way to end my 20s. Ash and Pikachu were there my whole lives thick and thin and was there in my lowest point in my life. Ash and Pikachu will always be in our hearts. It seems like yesterday it was 1997 and i was 4 watching my first episode now decades later I still smile because it shaped me how I really am today. Thank you Ash and Pikachu for the best damn years of my life. Now my lugia tattoo means something even more to me❤️❤️
It's been an amazing adventurous journey with Ash from 1997 in Pallet Town to World Champion in 2022.
It's nice they're retiring him, but it was also nice to know that throughout the decades I could get a random memory of Pokemon and know that somewhere out there Ash was still on his adventure. Like I could connect a moment from almost thirty years ago to something still happening now. It's hard to explain it.

This kid took 25 years to complete his dream as a Pokemon master. Those people who've watched him (especially back in 1997) probably had no idea that his journey would just come to an end just now.
After many years throughout Ash and Pikachu's longest journey in the making, it's finally time for Ash to become 11 years old by the time his adventure ends.

This is truly the end of an era. I remember watching the Pokémon xy and xyz anime and the sun and moon anime and indigo league and I really liked them all. Sad to see ash go

Ash is becoming Red and these new kids are gonna be the new Gold later on. I'm going to love seeing older protagonists. It feels like a timeskip. We'll probably see Steven and Cynthia's baby as a Champion or an older Iris for B3W3! The new era of pokemon looks nice

Wow. It's crazy to believe that Ash's grand region spanning journey is finally coming to an end after all of these years (😢). All the friends he's made, the Pokémon he's caught and battled, the enemies and rivals he's faced and beaten, it's just been awesome stuff to see (and what helped make my childhood and teen years awesome). Thank you, Ash Ketchum, for the many adventures we all got to see you have over the years. 🥲 ❤️
This is unreal. I'm a semi-casual viewer of the anime, but I'm still left in disbelief. I've watched the first season (Indigo League), but my obsession with Ash's journey truly started at XY. I have been a constant viewer since then. It's sad to let go of the iconic duo, Ash and Pikachu, but when you realise that their journey is the longest running anime, cartoon and TV show based off a video game, it starts to make sense. It's been a wonderful ride, and can't wait to see how it all ties together. Still kinda sucks that the anime is going to receive the Beyblade treatment after the finale.
Ash aside, I think from now on were gonna have different protags for each new generation in the anime (Judging by the fact that the new ones have gen 9 starters) which is a concept I'm pretty exited for

You gave us James' transgender outfit, black facing, epilepsy lights, Brock's cookies that were actually onigiris, stripping girls, Ash being kissed by a lot of ladies, Pikachu never evolving to Raichu, Brock getting ripped. Did I forget to mention something else?
I am 27 by now. I had a wonderful childhood with Ash's adventure
I grew up on Ash, followed him from day 1 since childhood. Ash is my childhood. First protagonist that got me into anime ever. It's hard to see him go.

Why the hell is everything I love ending!? In the past 3 or 4 years a lot of the stuff that I have come to and enjoy just straight up fucking end. What I think would be interesting as if Ash came back in like some future episode as a mentor to the main character.

I have a theory that the new trainers will be Ash's children, maybe we see a grownup version of him every now and then maybe the final part of his story with transition into the new show
I’m always going to miss Ash. Back in my day the only way I can watch Pokémon was when I’m at someone else’s house (my aunt’s or grandparents’) or at a hotel and turn on Cartoon Network on Saturday (this was before we had cable). I pretty much grew up with this series. I watched a few of Kanto, Orange Islands, Johto, and Hoenn. I got my anime start up with Sinnoh. I try to watch Unova when I get the chance. I watched a fair amount of parts of Kalos and then watched the rest through (this is when we finally got xfinity). And I finally watched Alola from beginning to end.

I came from a small rural highschool (2006-2010) and I'm pretty sure i was the only one who bought Pokemon Diamond version while all the boys were playing Xbox and PS2, I still stood by you at this point, Pokemon.
While I’m not a watcher of the anime anymore, I will miss Ash as he genuinely shaped my childhood and is part of the reason why I want to go out into the world and study Animals even now at 19 years of age. I’m gonna miss seeing him every now and then.. but I have one final thing to say.
