Scenario 4 of a 2 player game of Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion! The first scenarios work as a tutorial for the game, here in scenario 4 we have our full set of level 1 cards so you should get a good idea for two of the new characters.
Be sure to turn Klingon subtitles on to catch any mistakes, and if you're not a fan of the handheld look try the Static camera option linked below...

Hi, I'm Tom - I love board games and I've been playing...well, hundreds of them now here on UA-cam so you can get an idea of what they are like to play. I explain the games as I'm playing, and I try to go through the whole game when I can. There's also a video where I give my thoughts on each game, but don't take my word for it - have a look at the playthrough and see what's out there in the wonderful world of board games!

I gave this one a go using red guard and voidwalker...my favorite combo so far
That’s what I’m playing. Scenario 4 came down to the wire for me. Damage output can be a little tough with this combo, at least early on.
20:40 when the zealot attacks should it have healed the 2 damage? Not trying to be negative just a friendly question :) thanks for your video my copy arrived recently can't wait to try to out soon
Yes the zealot that attached hatchet would heal the amount of damage done. So 2 in this case. Good eye.
At 1:04:16 Hatchet shouldn't get the coins as they didn't end their turn on that hex.
I'm pretty sure you can move through the destroyed stone hex. Aren't they treated like destroyed obstacles, which Allie movement through that hex when destroyed?
Was it the time I destroyed a 3-hex obstacle but only put a destroyed token on one of the hexes? That was my mistake, the whole obstacle should have been destroyed 🙂
@@slickerdrips around the 35 minute mark you were planning it your moves and you were calculating going through difficult terrain at 2 per hex, rather than just walking through the previously destroyed objective stone hex.
Oh I see, that’s me misreading colours then 😀 you’re right
@@slickerdrips really enjoy all your playthroughs. Been a long time subscriber.
12:41. The 2 experience don’t you get it after each attack from from ‘the favorite’ card?
No, only when you play the card.
Is "Windup" supposed to add +2 on whole two next attack actions, or just on two next attacks? So when you attack 3 targets at the end of the scenario only first 2 targets (Zealots) will get the +2 bonus, but not Stone Golem (which is third attack)?
Yeah, it doesn't specify attack action, so in this case it should just be the first two targets
Don't the elements move to waning at the end of the hero/monster who activate it so the next hero/monster can use it in the same round.
14:30 Hi, Shouldn`t the Zelot attack the Demolitionist as he was in range and he wouldn't have disadvantage ?
I think distance is priority
Just played this scenario...had a massive badass attack all set up against the gollem...an attack of 7 with 2 blessings in my attack modifier deck for a chance to kill the golem in a single blow!
WHOOSH!
My attack missed. >.
The miss is always waiting :D
40 min you make long rest and you plane 2 cards ?
Am I wrong, there should be another golem on the board at the beginning?
Nvm I am wrong.
Am I missing something with enemy movement? He didn't move his enemies at all the first turn.
They only move if their cards drawn have a move action on them
@@slickerdrips Are you sure this is correct? they have a basic movement attribute on the main cards, the cards just modify the movement amount?
They do but they also tell you whether or not that action is happening. In the first scenario(s) there was a default card that made them move and attack every turn but apart from that they just do what their drawn card says that round 🙂
@@ChrissehP it says in the rules that if the card doesn't have movement they don't move. The only do the generic "focus-move-hunt" in the first two scenarios.
Great job
Thank you!
Really enjoyed listening to your thought process as you play. Any chance you can do a video with the Voidwarden? She looks the ‘funkiest’ class.
At 39:17 the golem shouldn’t move at all, as he would need 4 move to the demolisher but 5 to the hatchet.
@ Jack Spirio - where do you get 4 to the demolisher? Thanks.
@@mgranvee8549 So the golem moves through the zealot(1), then the difficult terrain which takes two movement (3), ending on the hex adjacent the demolisher (4).
@ Admiralferret - I see. Got it. Thanks.
