I got a 6.75 wrist and this watch wears great on the stock bracelet. Very comfortable with no issues. I'm surprised cause normally I wear smaller watches. Prior to this my daily wear was a sacm 171 and prior to that an air-king. Tried an skx but couldn't get it to sit nicely no matter the strap. The samurai just sits where I want it with no flopping. If u have a smaller wrist but want to wear a larger watch u might want to consider the samurai.
This one quickly became one of my favorites. I always thought they were too big but I was wrong. I understand why people don't like it but I enjoy the brutalist architecture of the case in combination with that popping dial colour.
The C93 was my very first Seiko purchase, which at the time I thought was expensive for a watch ,until I became more familiar with watch collecting.come to find out this watch is considered entry level for a dive watch..now I own 3 samurais and one being a white dial king samurai..i believe its the SRPE37 .the lume is insane on these samurai's
So if anyone is wondering what size clasp to use, it's a 20mm. I know this because I bought a 18mm from strapcode and it was too small. Good video but left out some small details on the actual size of the clasp!
I bought this watch along with the padi version. I quickly swapped out the strap on this one for a matching blue rubber strap and it looks 1000xs better.
I agree. I prefer Turtle look but let’s face it - other than design it’s pretty much the same watch. On Strapcode ratchet clasp or NATO it’s just great watch for the price.
I've been wearing my Samurai as my daily beater for about three years now on a NATO strap. It has been a very tough watch for me, and worth every penny of the $300 I spent on it. My sole complaint is the watch's accuracy. It started out as a +4 second watch for the first couple of months, but then settled into consistently losing 40 seconds a day. That is very disappointing, but Seiko says it is within their standard and won't do anything about it. I'm thinking about having it adjusted locally since it is now coming out of warranty. I would second the thought on no worries about the crystal. Mine still looks great after three years.
40 seconds a day!?! Somethings wrong. Take it in and get it regulated, that’s messed up. Seiko should do better than that with a 300$ watch, and they should be embarrassed to say that’s within spec.
Just got one of these with the stock strap and a nato for 214. I normally watch your knife reviews but I'm glad to be able to come here for a watch review too!
My gilt samurai, SRPB55J, came with the rubber strap (which is very comfortable) but I switched it to a dark leather suede strap which has added some personality to it. Very happy with the Samurai line and am glad that they offer so many color options. Seiko does great in many areas.
Me too, no problem with the extension though. I think it’s got to do with the shape of your wrist too, mine never bothers me. I do wish they had a better quick adjust (any quick adjust) but otherwise I’d learn bother me at all.
Nick it would be awesome if you could do a quick review of that clasp. I'm getting married in September and my fiance got me a citizen promaster and I think this would be a awesome addition to it.
such a great reviewer you are! this review has given me confidence in the product, that overall, considering price of course, that some degree of satisfaction will follow...
Umm not sure if I like tool watches that have been fancy-fied but wouldn't it be boring if everyone's taste was the same? I couldn't agree more about the naff clasp but the supplied bracelet does little for the watch either, on a Strapcode Hexad bracelet it really comes to life and you could add that beautiful clasp (I'm sure they'd sell you the Hexad bracelet with that clasp rather than the milled V clasp with 6 position micro adjust) such a shame that Seiko still only ever provide half the package and charge double what it's worth, but their designs are something special (dive watches, IMO) . It's not particularly thick for a mechanical diver. As for the accuracy I have a few watches with the NH35A movement, I think all but one run at +5 sec's or under per 24 hours on wrist and my Samurai is comfortably within that. Every bit as good as my Swiss ETA 2824-2 and Sellita SW 200 movement watches. Yes it's nice to have watches that don't need daily setting I bought a Seiko solar powered diver but to be honest it's not much better. I did get lucky with a Solar Chronograph ( which has a less expensive Seiko movement, ironically that gains just 2 seconds per month... Thanks for posting.
I went with the PADI version for two reasons, the wavy dial finish and really awesome blue lume. And if you’re going with strapcode clasp, I’d recommend to also go with hexad bracelet. It complements the angles of the watch perfectly.
I have this watch u speak of. The lume is nice however I think the green Seiko Lumabrite glows brighter and longer then the blue. However the blue is better looking to me
Beautiful watch, but I can't get past the cost for a watch that may lose 30 seconds a day. I got a Casio Fishing Gear. It's blue. It's beautiful. It's accurate! I love a great value.
Nice watch Nick, I have the Seiko Shogun SBDC007 in titanium which is kinda similar look, I really like the graduated blue to black dial on ur one, beautiful thing, I also like the limited edition of the shogun Zimbe with that sort of dial “I’m sure you know the one I’m talking about? Great reviews, ur my favourite watch utuber at the moment as I love the Casio S5000C & the New Omega Seamaster in Black
Nick, you do know that little clasp you're complaining about doubles as an extension right? You've got to pull on it with your finger nail and viola! It gives you a bit of extension. Not to say it's not a POS but it serves a purpose.
I have one of the previous generation Samuri's in titanium so perhaps one of these in Ti is on the horizon. You would hate mine since it has the old 7S26 movement and the bracelet is pretty much the same but in Ti (as far as I can see). I wear it on a textured rubber strap & enjoy it a lot. I do however have a quartz GS for when I am in Japan and am catching trains (;
Might have just sold me on this. Been considering the skx007 but I feel that it has an inflated reputation partly due to it's cult following. Not that the skx isn't a great watch, but now it's price has gone up to practically match the price of the samurai, now that the skx has been discontinued.
Oh, the SKX is not a great watch, in my mind. It's a hip watch, and it's good value if you don't like accuracy or other modern niceties, but I don't find it compelling at all.
@@NickShabazz I agree, but honestly all I am looking for is something that is either automatic or solar that I can wear at work (landscaping), is accurate enough and looks and feels nice enough that I enjoy wearing it and keeping for a long time. I'm starting to lean towards citizens.
so if anyone is wondering like I was what size the clasp is from strapcode, it's a 20mm. Just wish this fool would have responded to the multiple people asking the size, bought an 18mm and didn't fit, exchanged for 20 and all good
The fact that they marked every tenth seconds place along the outside, then just skipped the actual 10 second mark... making all the numerical markings asymmetrical.... that gives me an eye twitch just looking at it.
I've almost never had a 7S26 or newer Seiko movement in the 7S lineage run less than about 44 hours on a full wind. I love that watch too and I also swapped the clasp. You're right, it makes ALL the difference in how it wears on my 6-1/2" wrist. Now, if you REALLY want to upgrade it, get an Uncle Seiko Beads of Rice bracelet for it. It's killer with the design of the Samurai. Looks like the bracelet Seiko should have made for it. www.uncleseiko.com/store/p163/samurai.html
Mark Kuite I don’t get that, I own a Samurai as well, 4r35 movement has quick set date. If it’s not changing, you may want to get it looked at especially if it’s still under warranty.
Rotate to the bottom to change the date on the first click when you pull it out. If you’ve tried to change the date between 9 pm and 3 am you may have broken the tiny gear that moves the date wheel. In which case it’s probably cheaper to drop in a new movement.

I don't care for the style( a little too angular) Also, a little too large ,heavy and pricey. If I wanted s large japanese diver,I think I would buy the Citezen instead.

Put it on a Barton bands elite silicone and it's an amazing watch!
which colour? Navy or Flatwater? Can you upload a pic?
The best lume in town, bar none.
Matches well with Stapcode Hexad.
A beautiful watch indeed. Lovely review!
