さらわれた3匹の妖精と王女様を救出するため、主人公のパコが魔王モウルに支配されたテーマパーク「マーベルランド」で繰り広げるテンポの良いアクションゲーム。「マーベルランド」は全4ワールドになっていて、1ワールドにつき4エリアで構成されている。エリア1と2はアスレチック面、エリア3はローラーコースター面、エリア4は室内面で構成され、エリア4のラストにボスキャラが待ち構えている。ボスキャラとは綱引き・ジャンケンで戦い、勝利を収めるとボーナスステージに突入する。ボーナスステージでは歴代ナムコキャラが多数でてくるエレクトリックパレードをバックに、夜空から降ってくる星をたくさん取って高得点を目指す。ごみ箱を押したり宝箱を開けたりすると、パコをパワーアップさせるいろいろなアイテムが出てくる。ナムコシステムII基板の回転機能を使った演出が印象的。
ストーリー:
光と平和の国コニーランド。そこにはドラゴン族、妖精族、水棲族、翼族、魔獣族、地底族がそれぞれの場所で平和に暮らしていた。コニーランドの中央にある平和の丘。その頂上にあるのが大遊園地マーベルランド。マーベルランドは、温厚な妖精族達によって守られていた。しかし、それを面白く思わない者がいた。地底族の王、モウル。彼は自分の力が地底にしか及ばないことが気に入らなかったのだ。

Even if titlescreen says 1989, Marvel Land was released in January 1990 in Japan.
Some bonus level parade floats and rides featured in levels contain popular Namco characters such as "Pac-Man", Pooka from "Dig Dug", Solvalou from "Xevious", "Mappy", "Grobda", Paccet from "Baraduke", Dragon from "Dragon Spirit" and "Berabow Man".
The pink female robot that appears in the game later appears in the Namco Museum series behind the museum's information desk.
World and Japanese versions have different gameplay, bonuses and bosses.
In the Japanese version you can choose between easy and normal course.

マーベルランドのノーミスALLが、自分の中で一番自慢できたプレイでした。とはいえ、比べものにならないくらい素晴らしいプレイ、惚れ惚れしました。
今のゲームではこういう技術と知識を突き詰めた達成感得ること、あまり見つけられなさそうだなぁ。対人対戦はまた違うものだしね

yh. The Pac-Man one is different on the Genesis however: Pac Man is like some sort of Dragon Pac with Green Wings
PAC-Man, Mappy and Valkyrie are all my favorites.

当時、中学生でした。地元のスーパーの屋上にゲームコーナーがあり、暇があれば通ってました。マーベルランドもありノーミスオールも当たり前にしていた記憶があります。難易度は高めでEASYてプレイする人が殆どでした。
どなたかが「インカム主義によって天井知らずに難易度が上がった結果誰も訪れなくなった遊園地」という批評をしてましたが、自分も全くの同意見でした。
あまりにも難しすぎて到底ワンコインクリアなど無理と思ってましたが、世の中にはちゃんとクリアできる人もいらっしゃるんですね。脱帽です。
This game has very clever level design and enemy placement. Plenty of "gotcha" traps for those going to slow or even rushing to get to the end. I also tried to save the girl in 3-1 but sadly it's impossible. Would have been a cool mechanic to get her to the end for a MASSIVE bonus.

I never get hit by those, but the time limit is really giving me issues. I failed at World 3-2. Even worse, if you lose a life by any method, you have to start from the BEGINNING of the Area PLUS you lose all Clones.
Mizubaku Daibouken (aka Liquid Kids from Taito) actually has something like that in the game. In one of the pyramid levels a female platypus is hidden, she will follow you to the end of a stage, unless she is hit by spikes, or an enemy. Leading her successfully to the end of the level nets you a 1Up.

ジェットコースターの面のアトラクション的なステージの動きとBGMがとっても大好きでゆっくりプレイしたいのに、勝手にコースターが進んじゃって終わっちゃうのが寂しかったなぁ😂
The Genny version is awesome (more stages,music,secrets)..but the arcade sheen is beautiful. Criminal that Namco hasn’t put this on any of their Namco Museum compilations (physical or bust).
This game looks like a blast!
Namco really needs to start doing a little more with their more obscure classics and stuff that’s unknown to the US.
Probably because they don't want o ruffle the feathers of the comic book company since they're now owned by the big ear mouse!

Well it got an ACA release, but due to Marvel Comics, the game had to stay in Japan, which is a fucking bummer. Marvel finds yet another way to piss me off.

ナムコ直営店の筐体のレバーはコマンド式格ゲーやSTGはやりにくかったけどこのゲームとの親和性は抜群だった
タイトルといいゲーム性といい全体の雰囲気といい、かつての名作『パックランド』を大いに意識した一作でしたね。
残念ながらインカムは期待されたほどではなかったようですが、ナムコならではの夢のある、プレイして楽しいゲームでした。
特にボーナスステージのエレクトリカルパレードに至っては、古くからのナムコファンである私などはなぜか涙が出た記憶があります。

I had no idea this game existed! Also, I really like the music for the first stage; it has kind of a "Caribbean" sound, and reminds me a bit of an ABBA song.

@@Bloodreign1 Only way to play Valkyrie no Densetsu is Namco Museum Vol. 5 on PS1. It's the only release in English.
That bit on the rollercoaster when the screen rotates round. Wow. How did they do that? I didn't know that was possible.
Game has scaling and rotation, much like games on the SNES do. Namco was experimenting on it a little earlier though in arcades.

可愛いキャラクターの割にはかなり難しかった。
ナムコのシステム2は回転拡大縮小とかPCM音源とか、性能的にはスーファミが近かったんで、マーベルランドもフェリオスもワルキューレの伝説もスーファミで出して欲しかったよ。

往時のナムコ作品では比較的多く見られた「コンティニュー不可：最後の砦」の一つですね。
これは、パコには残機があるけど姫は一人しかいないからこうなった！と思うことにしてます。溶岩に堕ちたら姫と一緒に焼けますから。

A very difficult platformer from Namco. Ported to Genesis/MD, made longer, but still just as difficult there as well.
Also I believe the first full playthrough of this game on UA-cam.
The Genesis version has severely dumbed down graphics and the "physics" don't feel quite right. As to be expected from an early MD game.
@@lolirocket I disagree, the Genesis version is superior despite the graphics and music. It adds an introduction scene at the beginning, many more levels, and some more variation in the boss minigames.
@@lolirocket The only thing really missing from the Genesis game is the scaling, but that was to be expected as the Genesis was incapable of scaling unless the programmers knew software tricks, and even then it was limited. The Genesis version overall feels a bit more complete due to Namco filling the game out with more stages.
パコと脱出面大好きでそのためにやってました。。MDだったか忘れましたが最後ルクシーがトライデントスター使うシーンが入ってたはずです…がその後ろのパコが可愛かった記憶が…。

I never heard of that game before but it does look interesting though.
There's a port of it to the Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, Namco actually added more levels to it to make it a longer, but still bone crushingly hard game.
Loved it on the Megadrive. Didn't it have a Whack-a-mole mini game? I'm going to need to give it a revisit...... And then play for five minutes and give up because it's way too hard for me and my ancient, slow reaction time, ways, these days.

Where the heck have I heard the ending theme before? I swear I've never seen the ending before but the music sounds so familiar. Strange.
SMB 2's ending theme basically.
The sound and credit sequence is damn near a direct rip of SMB2 which came out two years before (three if you count Doki Doki Panic, not sure if it has the same music though). When I first beat this game in late 1992 I was like "WTF, they copied that music from SMB2 (which I had beaten 10+ times up until that point). Regardless, I cherished my copy of Marvel Land for years before selling it in 1996 and again in 2008.
It's in the same key and sounds similar, but the ending music is not from SMB2...
