I like the nice little detail on the 3rd stage, where you see one solder who was assimilated completely by a spine monster and then another whose attached to one but still sane enough to help the Player and blow himself up, taking the monster he's attached to with it.
I really just love that the friendly NPS's interact with the player or environment in some way on occasion. Like the assimilated soldier giving you a pickup before blowing up. The cop car sweeping in to drop off another pack. Or even the small hold out synthesizing the antipode. Really cements you are part of the military despite being the super soldier- they try to fight on!
Indeed! One of the greatest aspects of this game are the background details showing the full-scale of the infection's rampage. Especially that scene on the airship where the moon was assimilated too. That's just nuts.

The shots echoing out in in the background of the first forest level, the moon looks partially assimilated and their is fleshy meteors hitting the city in the background during the train level, a more fully assimilated moon in the Sky level with the previous city scape being completely in flames. The city and skyscraper levels also has a lot of civvies mixed into the flesh along with the army guys. The city level also has another infected train that screams by you periodically (or multiple?). The background stuff does a good job with showing the sheer scale of just how scarily fast the infection started taking over everything with the Moon levels showing that most of Earth's continents are flesh. Reminds me a lot of Carrion with the sheer brutality too.
That end credit scene, that one train where the soldier were firing into the sky and the others salute. That was where the infected soldier blew himself up after giving the player his weapon. They remember his sacrifice.
Honestly, this feels like a job for a mystic box of fries, a wisecracking milkshake, and a middle-aged dirtbag from the South Jersey Shore. The perfect A-Team for meat run amok.
This and Super Cyborg are the true platinum of spiritual successors of Contra series. The world building in this game is beyond majestic. Some enemies spawn behind you to do absolutely nothing which is the abstract way to tell the player that you have been overwhelmingly outnumbered. But the game tells you that you are not alone, even the one that resisted infection til the last of his breath. Yeah that one giga chad at 15:00, he was like "I'm not going to become one of them. Here comrade, take my gun. удача" and kaboom. The player's character probably like "Even though I'm not the one in help, I feel like I've been destined to always say thank you." Also a very appropriate character to play for final stage. I can somehow hear the voice "It's payback time!"

Now, the red haze in the sky from all that crap in orbit, ruined tides, etcetera are another matter entirely but I imagine most of the biosphere that would have been affected are probably already extinct,…

This game feels like a love letter to the Contra franchise since there are a lot of similarities between this game and Contra but heck this game had my curiosity, now it definitely has my undivided attention.
Amazing theme and pixel art, Retroware! Playthrough videos like this one are really nice to have. You can just stop and admire the aesthetics of the game's atrocities. Gameplaywise, the first three stages yield a very strong arc, but I must say that the "base" stage is quite long and the "sky" level feels similar to the "train" level. Some variation in the colour scheme and events during "sky" might do the trick and complete the arc of suspense until the end of the game.
This almost feels like a sequel to the game Carrion. The creature expanded and now the human race is fighting back. Definitely a game I want to play, being such a great throw back to Contra (I have beaten that twice in my 38 years of living. We don't speak of the rage I felt though)

Iron Meat was a really well-crafted work. Not only is the creature design somewhat comical, comparable to the Metal Slug series, but it is also impressive that Cyrillic text appears in various parts of the game along with English. Among the games inspired by Contra, Super Cyborg is well known for having Russian roots🇷🇺, but it is really interesting that both games have a game design that focuses particularly on the biological monsters of the Contra series.😲 It is also interesting that near the final sequence, it is suggested that the entire Earth civilization has fallen into a catastrophic situation, but the ending shows that "order is being restored, with the army to which the protagonist belongs taking the lead."😊 In the original Contra series, a small number of superheroes save the world. Many Hollywood movies end with civilization being destroyed without being able to recover from a chaotic situation.😅 However, the creators of this work have depicted an ending in which "not only the protagonist, but also the surviving army members desperately work together to win the victory." So, the final boss (Iron Meat), is basically the Iron Giant + Terminator T-800, I like it! The concept of a techno organic esque hazardous is amazing, very well character design!

Unlike NPC's who just exist as Cannon fodder, they actually put an effort to help the MC and to stop the apocalypse.

Soundtrack was already awesome on the demo version and now it got even heavier! I'm getting more anxious to get this game soon! XD

Iron Meat was a really well-crafted work. Not only is the creature design somewhat comical, comparable to the Metal Slug series, but it is also impressive that Cyrillic text appears in various parts of the game along with English. Among the games inspired by Contra, Super Cyborg is well known for having Russian roots🇷🇺, but it is really interesting that both games have a game design that focuses particularly on the biological monsters of the Contra series.😲
It is also interesting that near the final sequence, it is suggested that the entire Earth civilization has fallen into a catastrophic situation, but the ending shows that "order is being restored, with the army to which the protagonist belongs taking the lead."😊
In the original Contra series, a small number of superheroes save the world. Many Hollywood movies end with civilization being destroyed without being able to recover from a chaotic situation.😅
However, the creators of this work have depicted an ending in which "not only the protagonist, but also the surviving army members desperately work together to win the victory." This is a perspective that has long since been lost, not only in American Hollywood movies🇺🇸, but also in Japanese manga and anime🇯🇵, my home country.😓
(For example, the original Mobile Suit Gundam and Super Dimension Fortress Macross were both told from this perspective, but with each sequel, the elements of Hollywood-style superheroes became more prominent, and the presence of friendly forces, especially nameless ordinary soldiers, became weaker. As a result, the stories became more entertaining, but in the final episode, no one in the audience could understand the essential reason why the war was won, and it is not uncommon for the only impression to be that "the war ended because the evil boss was defeated."😵😱😇)

Yeah, Honestly would love to see that, or like how even the skins get here in the first place for amusement and of course. more possible meat monsters, especially the infected objects.
Though i do fear what the content farms would look like...hopefully we don't get any but yeah.
So, the final boss (Iron Meat), is basically the Iron Giant + Terminator T-800, I like it! The concept of a techno organic esque hazardous is amazing, very well character design!
