I prefer 8/4, leave dex at 16, go TB at level 4, with 2 ASIs in Wisdom. Using the mirror buff you reach 22 Wis. Starting out with 15 con to put a point into with TB is a nice bonus. For the necklace I use anything until act 3 where I get the one that gives you advantage on mental saves from the Ethel Quest.
this build is bad anyway, hunter only gets good at lvl 11. bard doesnt synergise well with it. sorcerer lvl 2 won’t benefit you that much either. just go pure hunter ranger or swords bard and you’ll be way stronger
For a more effective build that’s also thematically pleasing, do your pick of Paladin or Fighter and then combine it with Rogue + Warlock multiclass. The exact levels for each depend on what you specifically want as far as playstyle and aesthetic goes but this combo allows you to be a tank, a blaster, an assassin, a mage, whatever you want really just by switching a few levels around. You can have constant advantage through various means and just yeah, trust me. It destroys everything it touches.
I like this! I'm actually doing an Astarion run rn and he's a level 8 fey warlock and level 4 thief rogue. I love the fey lock because if you happen to get hit you can trigger invisibility once per turn. And sure, they COULD detect presence, but I'm sneaky vamp man. I love being able to either freecast misty step from invisibility, or just get a free sneak attack. Plus if you go pact of the blade you get an extra attack. So the damage can really stack with a hex as well. I don't try to meta game too hard, but this felt like a perfect Vampire Lord build for me.
@@BigWhiskey09 It's a run of the mill Tavern Brawler Monk/Thief. 9/3 or 8/4 is up to you. You basically dump strength and use strength elixirs throughout the whole game for your monk. Starting at level 4 that moves him way ahead of the powercurve and he will stay there. Astarion in my honour mode playthrough was hitting for 33-54 point of damage in a single hit by the end. Just use open hand monk, with the boots of uninhibited kushigo and high wisdom using tavern brawler juiced up by an elixir. What makes this powerful is the fact that ascended vampire astarion gets 1d10 necrotic damage on every hit.
Thanks for the showcase of the Ranger Knight, Im going to experiment with that on my Hexblade My Lockadin crits on 18s... hit the Apostle of Myrkul for almost half of his 245 HP with a crit+divine smite using Sword + Shield, 22 AC. Currently my MC is lv10 so a level higher than he was at the time. Gonna have to try and fiddle around with that Ranger subclass
This is unique but nothing beats full ranger hunter build... Volley as an attack action is busted... Your regular attack and extra attack basically become AOE and with extra necrotic damage from becoming ascended vampire just make it more vile...
@@ActuallyBog Yes it's one of the strongest build if you face dozen of enemies.. especially If you have another character cast "Black Hole" or you cast "Black hole" as a bonus action (with awakening ilithid) and then you Volley Crit all of them with extra attack (Voley as well).. I recommend using full crit build for your weapon and gear...
We have a build called Force Conduit Hunter that focuses in the Hunter Class, and we have a Fighter/Wizard that utilizes Awakened Illithid abilities. Our builds try to hit a theme, they don't try to do everything every time.
@@ActuallyBog Yeah it is, it's surprisingly a really fun and strong build. I like to add cold dmg via the Drakethroat glaive, and use the snowburst ring to create pools of ice for the enemy to slip on with each volly.
I do Ranger Gloomstalker for the basically free Attack in dread ambusher, and Rogue Thief for the extra bonus action so essentially you get 5 attacks at the beginning of every combat encounter due to the extra attack you get from ranger.

I'm still new to bg3, only having a few playthroughs under my belt. Is it wierd to build your party instead of your characters? Sick videos, Astarion has my favorite story arc.

In my first run at the moment of baulders gate and just hit about 30 hours, I’m a level 8 ranger. Any tips about the game would be great. I just killed the spectator recently- not sure how far that puts me in a quest to beat the game.

@LeonJagerWulf Talking about the optimization section? For sure put your ASI from level 9 into Charisma if you end up stockpiling Elixirs. But dropping all those points from Strength you can put them into Intelligence to boost your Saving Throws, Int saving throws are the most common for spells and this will impact you quite a bit in Act 3. Or put into dex to raise your initiative.
@@grindgod847 don't you mean wisdom, intelligence saving throws are more to do with psychic damage, wisdom saving throws though are for pretty much everything else including some of the worse spells to fail like Hold Person or Fear.
Also, we've worked on Rouge but it's hard to hit all of the flavor organically as you would level. So it's hard to say: "Here's our guide to Rouge!" But it really doesn't hit flavor until Act 3. Just letting you know we try. But sometimes inspiration hits harder elsewhere so we follow that for the sake of producing content we're proud of.

I would go 6 monk, 3 thief, 2 spore druid, and either 1 level in thief or 1 level in barbarian. Use helldusk gloves too and max out necrotic damage.
Nice but I prefer 5 Gloomstalker/ 7 Spore Druids for ascended Astarion the extra necrotic damage and having a gang of summons just fits
