Always enjoy how you go through everything step by step, Gary! Such an important part of fixing water quality and there's not enough up-to-date stuff on the topic out there. Or it's really dull stuff made by health departments. Hope to see more water testing content! 🙂
Hi Mr. Gary.. i am Matheyu, from south India. Before 10 years we dig a bore well to 600 feet. The bad out comes is we receiving hot water with chemical smell. No industries nearby, its deep village. If the bore well is 300 feet, we can get good water, but, the water out come is not enough for agriculture. It would be very thankful, if you give any solution to treat the water before irrigation. The another problem with the water is its damaging soil pores. Upon irrigation the soil turns like muddy clay. I am eagerly waiting for your reply. Thank you 🙏
@GarytheWaterGuy Hi sir, the borewell water test result is as follows: PH: 8.2 Carbonate: 0.4 m equivalent/L Bicarbonate: 3.0 Cloride: 7.7 Sulphate: - Calcium: 1.0 Magnesium: 0.2 Sodium: 11.0869 Potassium: 0.0565 RSC: 2.2 SAR: 14.324 Water classification: C2S2R2 Geochemical: Sodium Cloride This water comes out hot with a strong smell. Our problems are: ●When there is no rain, all crops grow well with this water, but before yielding, plants are wilt and die. In case there is rain during this time, water is not draining into the soil. It's like soil has been clogged. ● with this condition, paddy can grow with no problem. ● we tried adding gypsum, but no use ● when we try to mix this smelly water with nearby good borewell water for irrigation, it's giving more smell. ● our place is deep village. We had a 300-foot borewell before 15 years. That borewell gave good water, we grow various crops. Our soil is red soil. After that, water went less, so we dig until 600 feet nearby. This 600 feet bore well, giving this unpleasant water problem until now. My father told me that when they digged 600 feet, there were black rock materials, and then they stopped after that. We gave up after that. I searched in youtube for any solution and got your videos. We expecting from you is there any solution to treat the water before irrigation pls with less price. We have only 3 acres of land. it's our main business. Thank you very much, sir. 🙏🙏🙏 If we need to do any other water test, pls tell me know, sir. we will do.
Love videos bro! I have a question about my water softener. I have a Westinghouse Progressive Series salt water system. When I start a manual regen. The tank fills for 8 minutes and then it says water softening and then it’s a two hour count down I don’t here any water running until it gets to zero. Is that 2 hour cycle normal? Thanks sir
Thanks for the video Gary. I just did a simple at home test to get a basic understanding of where I am. Everything came back good, but my total alkalinity is 500ppm and pH is 8.5. Any idea why the total alkalinity would be so high, and is that a bad thing?
Alkalinity above 500 has adverse effects on plumbing systems, especially on hot water systems (water heaters, boilers, heat exchangers, etc.) where excessive scale reduces the transfer of heat to the water, thereby resulting in greater power consumption and increased costs.
@@water_estore Thanks. One thing I noticed is the water is still soft, which seems counterintuitive. I'll have to continue to monitor and may send a sample to a lab for more complete results.
Thank you for your fabulous videos explaining water issues! I ordered the test kit, but I have a question about where to take the sample. I have a new home and installed is a BOSHEART industries 14fhk-G series filter and a VIQUA Model# D4. The builder of my home has completed two bacteria test and they are good. My problem is that I’m on a Well and the water smells. My plan is to send you the test results so that you can advise me of equipment you have that will fix my issues. I'm interested in getting rid of the smell and a water softener. Should I take this sample after the VIQUA because I want to add to the system knowing whatever filters you recommend will go between the BOSHEART and the VIQUA?
You should take the water sample anywhere before Viqua system as the filter will not affect the results. This link explains where you will send the water sample ua-cam.com/users/liveLr3jyGiJdC0
Question for all. I am as numerous others who have lots of water filtration exp are stumped with my recent water testing. I have well water. I have an acid neutralizer(caltrite) no mixed pellets. Raw water is 14 grains hardness, p.H is 7.4. After filter, 20in Pentair Big Blue 2501, 25 to 1 micron(used for iron reduction) and neutralizer water is 150 ppm(8.77 grains) and p.H is 8.6. 1. I just bought my home from my mil. She bought neutralizer from her long time water people. 2. Isn't 7.4 neutral water? 3. Why is my water harder before filtration and neutralizer? Any ideas? Thank you.
Yes, with a pH of 7.4 you would not need a neutralizer. I assume that you do niot have a water softener so the water should actually be harder after the neutralizer than it is before. I would make sure the testing procedure for hardness was the same for both tests.
Gary: I have a frost free yard faucet to my well head. Should I take the samples there or inside the house? I also have a bathroom sink in the basement that is before all filters and tanks. Thank you!
I had my well water tested last Year. A few results where close to Max ppm.. and the iron was 6ppm. I’m sure it’s drink water quallity after it passes my water Softener,, But since a year the smell and taste of my City water was really bad, not even drinkeable! Got it checked and it was high on bacterie, what should I do? Did a flush with chlorine but did not help… Pleas 🤞🏻😁
If your well water is 6 ppm it is not drinkable. It might be drinkable after it passes through the water softener but you need to have it tested to be sure. You should get a Reverse Osmosis drinking water system like this one to make your city water drinkable waterestore.com/products/hum-water-saver-reverse-osmosis-system-75-gallons-per-day
@@water_estore I use zeoliet in my watersoftner to filter out the 6ppm of iron in my wellwater. I can see at my toilet it does great! We use this water for our pool, and is perfect. But,, I also have citywater. This I use for bathroom and kitchen and this water has a really bad smell, taste. I got it tested and the results show it was high on bacterie. To get the smell out my house/ pipe’s I flushed with 15%chloor by adding it in my pre filter.. this did not helped, what should I do to sanitize my alupex pipe’s that are only 7 years old? Believe me, the smell is bad when taking a shower..
Knowing what is in your well water is the first step to getting it fixed!
I love your videos. You make it all so less stressful… your videos are always so informative. Thanks for making this content. 😊

@@water_estore Hi sir, I am waiting for your advise.. thanks
Hey Gary! What do you recommend for removing Radon from your well water? I have a 58.2 pCi/L level. I had it tested by My Tapscore!
These folks specialize in radon radonontarioservices.ca/

Yes, you have a pre fill water softener. That is normal for those.

Yes, but make sure that it is well flushed first.
