As always very informative. I live in Los Angeles with very hard water. I have naturally dry skin and the water softner not only helps my skin but also my eyes.
@@water_estorewe just bought a home built in 2005 and it has a water softener installed, the brine is filled about 1/4 it halfway from the bottom of the container, very stinky in there. We also have an area marked Sump nearby? Still learning what all this does as we’ve never owned a home before. My wife said she feels slippery from the water and doesn’t like it and her hair feels weird and damaged, so now I’m doing research.
Is there a safely shutoff for the discharge line during the regen cycle if power is cut to the head unit? Our softener discharges to a sump pit which is then pumped into the septic system. If the power to the head unit is cut during a discharge either by a power outage, or a wifi switched outlet because the sump pump monitor indicated high water in the pit, will the discharge stop because of a safely valve or continue under system pressure. I am trying to protect from flooding in the basement again because of a failed sump pump.
No there is no such safety device. I would connect the drain directly to the pipe that goes to the septic system. That takes the sump pump out of ther equation completely. This is how we install them.
Hey Glad you brought up this topic . I have a watersoftener installed Eco mix beads 36 l. 36000grains. I054 clack ws1 The issue is the taste is how people describe it , is awful compared to straight out of the well as they were used to before softener installed . I said it maybe the sudden swap over and they might get used to it . Have you any ideas or other options than can be added in after the softener to sort this . They are against the Ro system Ph is 6.8
First, I would make sure that the water softener is set correctly to your actual water hardness. In being in the field for over 20 years I beleive at least 50% of all water softeners in hiomes are incorrectly programmed becasue no one tested the water and bothers to program it correctly. The only other option is reverse osmosis.
@@water_estore water test results Ca 40 mg/l. Caco3. 99mg /l Iron 1100micro g/l. Manganese. 2200 micro g/l Turbidity and softener Hardness. Setting on clack ws1 valve. 249. ?
What does it mean when there is black oil like in the brine container and after regenerating black water like color comes through the entire house facets? Thank you
At 4:08 you said the "hard water has calcium magnesium in it, that's what makes it soft." Then LATER at 4:45 you said the calcium is washed AWAY to make the water soft. I'm so confused. Can you explain how the calcium makes it soft but then when removed makes it softer, please?
Sure, I misspoke when I said "hard water has calcium magnesium in it, that's what makes it soft." I should have said "hard water has calcium magnesium in it, that's what makes it hard." Thanks for the catch.
Here's the straight talk about water softeners for your family.

You find a water softener will provide many benefits for you and your family.
I just purchased a 15 yo home with a softener and septic. Does all the salt used in regeneration build up in the septic?
No, not typically

Typically that is a sign of manganese or hydrogen sulphide

If you're actually about selling a good product then remineralization should be promoted...it seems
Sure thing. We have the remineralization kits here waterestore.com/products/hum-75-reverse-osmosis-remineralization-kit
What kind of madman says Catsup??
Um, I guess my kind of madman.
