The fact that people like this actually take time out of their lives to explain this is amazing to me
calm down buddy
It’s because he enjoys his job. I’m at Wastewater Operator and I would love to teach people about this.
The fact your writing silly comments on UA-cam and he's posting videos is enough...
Also he's probably a process scientist so a clever bloke who's interested in the knowledge of keeping your rivers clean and thus everything else happy
There are classes followed by exams required to be a wastewater operator. This video is highly educational!
This is the first time someone has actually explained BOD in a way that really makes sense to me thank you!
I had an entire class in wastewater management that seemed to be very confusing throughout the entire semester. I feel like if I would have seen this video on the first day everything would have made a lot more sense! Well done.
When someone is a deep expert in a domain, and then they also give a really solid, clear explanation of the basic concepts, it's absolute gold, like this video.
Finding these videos is a blessing. Watching these while being in the field of work makes these videos like another episode of How It’s Made.
A HIGHLY INTELLIGENT INDIVIDUAL SHARING HIS WEALTH OF KNOWLEDGE ON THIS SUBJECT IS AWESOME JUST STARTED WORKING AS A WASTE WATER OPERATOR THE INSIGHT IS APPRECIATED THANK YOU
This is incredible. I would listen to this guy speak about anything. Excellent job.
This lecture is amazing, we appreciate all the time and effort that was spend on this video.
it was the most clear lecture i have watched for the extended aeration process , it combine both simplicity and clarity , thank you
Thank you for the steady pace of this video. The visuals are so helpful and your explanations are concise and clear.
I would like to thank Blacoh and Russ Wright for doing an excellent job of presenting the material in a manner which is easy to understand. Due to timing of course availability at Delaware County Community College I was forced to attend the second half of the course for Wastewater Certified Operator Training, which happened to be activated sludge, without having taken the first half of the course. Since I was unemployed and had limited time left for benefits, time was precious. Finding your videos enabled me to learn what I had missed, while simultaneously being introduced to the new material being taught in classroom.. Within four months I was taking the state board exams and passed four exams at one test session. I wouldn't have done it without the additional knowledge gained from your instructional videos!
Thank you for this informative video lecture! Very good analogies used to present complex processes to the layman.
One of the best lectures I have ever listened to.
Great lecture, thank you Rus!

Been studying for my PE and I can definitely say this made everything about waste water and BOD much clearer.
This was so helpful. It couldn't be explained any better. Thank you so much.
I'm thinking about converting my anaerobic 2 chamber septic tank into an anaerobic system except I want to protect the sludge pile so it can be pumped out (rather than ending up in the weeping bed). Your lecture has answered a lot of my questions. Thank-you
thanks for this video. ive recently begun the process of being a water/wastewater operator and im actually looking forward to it. these videos are great to watch while i wait for my training supplies to arrive.

-FTI UJ
excellent video, a lot learned from watching thank you
Very informative video and easy to understand. One correction I believe needs to be made about the DO concentration and filamentous organisms; they tend to favor LOW DO concentrations, not HIGH DO concentrations.
Correct. Filamentous favor low DO, not high DO.
An excessive population
of filamentous organisms
may be related to the
following:
1. Low DO in the aeration
tank.
2. Insufficient nutrients
(e.g. Nitrogen,
Phosphorus, Iron).
he is right to some extent; they don't settle well in the secondary clarifier
thats right , I've just checked it out in metcalf and eddy .
they do prefer low DO
Thank you so much !..im so glad i saw this
Awesome video Russ. Thanks.
