    If you have low pH and lots of sediment in your water you would add the Automatic Backwashing Sediment filter before the pH neutralizing filter.

    Gary has been a huge help in giving me the knowledge I needed about my well water filtration needs. I found his videos are full of information and very simple for people that don’t know anything (like me). I have emailed him back and forth and his staff, as well as called and talk to him and his staff. Everyone has been very patient and understanding with me and helping me to understand what I need for my well water filtration solutions. I can’t thank them enough for making me feel comfortable with what I needed to ask of my local plumber here in USA TN

    • @lobdsk
      @lobdsk Рік тому

      @@water_estore yep it’s always a good idea. You shouldn’t have to worry about pump burn out because of the cut out switch which is now functioning awesome because I’m using filtered water to the switch. It’s the main advantage of prefilter to the pressure tank and switch. But, your right that is something you learn living on a acreage look after your water system and it will look after you. It’s way better I think to have a pre filter with a whole house filter. I didn’t have it before and my water was brown and there was even pipe scale in the water. I bought a prefilter and iron filter but I still had crappy water. Now it’s pre filter, whole house filter, iron filter. I also use chlorine tablets down a shallow well even though I had the water tested because well water is a wild card. Eventually I am planning on a RO system because of its purity.maybe when I win the lottery

I bought a Rheem water softener and in the instructions they mention that if the water source could contain microbials (bacteria) they don't recommend to install it before a proper disinfection such as chlorine or uv light, so this is my dought. With the "pressure tank" being all the way back at step B, surely the water must come out as a trickle by time it reaches the home? Gary I need some help with a system please. We had this water treatment unit installed about 15 years ago. It has proven very effective but as part of a rebuild of the house the equipment was disconnected and we can't locate the information on the system that we need for set up.
    The Iron removal unit was a WATERITE INC Mod. # is obscured but might be P339-10A TC 11.
    It has a control head that resembles one you use in your video but the place where that unit has an air intake filter that you remove during the refresh process is fitted with a removable blanking plug and it appears the air for the unit is being introduced by a venturi type fitting in the well supply line. Between that device and the unit there is a Braukmann automatic air vent but it is rotated to the off position so not sure it does anything.
    I’m concerned about that venturi device as a way to introduce the air needed as it represents a significant obstruction to the flow from the pump and must increase the head the pump is working against quite a bit.
    Could the plug be removed from the control head and an air filter intake unit put in and if so would it likely continue to work as well as it has?

    • @water_estore
      @water_estore  Рік тому

      Great question, you have an "old school" air birm system. You are correct that they restrict the flow to create a venturi affect to draw in air to oxidize the iron out of the water. See ua-cam.com/video/sx_j7W9z9FQ/v-deo.html Unfortunately your valve and your tank will not woirk with the air draw system. I had the same situation in my house and had to repalce the whole system. Here's a question about the reverse osmosis system for removing sodium and bacteria. Our summer cottage wasn't winterized, and it gets way below freezing in the winter - is that going to ruin the filter membrane every year? How much is it to replace that? Is the filter one piece of the item, or does the whole thing need to be replaced each year?
    Also, I've noticed orange staining primarily in one bathroom, and not much elsewhere - is it possibly due to the pipes being some specific material in that room, and rusting more than it should? I think there are copper pipes in the bathroom?

      You remove the system (easily) and take it somewhere warm for the winter. All the filters are replaceable here waterestore.com/products/water-saver-75-combo-pack-4-filters-replacement-filters-plus-membrane yes, likely something to do with the plumbing in that area.

    Just bought a 1950s house on well water. Mitlon came through and ripped all the plumbing and tank house 900' from the house... Putting everything back, I have no original ddiagram. Pictures from inspection look like the flow from well went like this: well with pump and bladded, then to a big solid bradd spin off filter, then to a Pentair basic filter, to the salt tank/holder, then into a 400 gallon holding take w/ float, then to the pump (50 psi) which then goes to a sulfer tank filter, then to 3 fine pentair filters, to house.
    My question is, it looks like a sulfer/tannin filter is before the salt filter? I am thinking they had it backwards than your diagram. The first inline filter is now black, it was white when I replaced it, so it seems like something is backwards now? I realize this is showing all possible filters but would you place a cartridge sediment filter before your backwashing filters? Since most home owners are not the best at keeping up with the maintenance of their filters, aren't you worried about them effecting flow rate during a backwash of one of your backwashing filters? Doesn't your Iron filter also remove sediments? Why no Chlorine/Hydrogen Peroxide injection? Don't you want to kill the bacteria before it passes through the filters so the slimly byproducts does not coat the medias inside the filters? That would make the costly replacement of UV bulbs redundant. I know it's residual income, but wouldn't killing the bacteria pre-filter be more effective and help oxidize so the filter can preform better? How well do the piston seals and spacers of those Clack valves hold up to well water?

    • @water_estore
      @water_estore  Рік тому +1

      No, I don't recommend a sediment cartridge filter before the Automatic backwashing filter. That's the backwashing filters job. Yes, iron filters can remove some sediment depending on the media. I don't like chemical injection systems, those chemicals will end up in your septic system. If you have bacterial iron you would need a chemcial injection system but that is about the only time I would recommend them. Yes, with a chemcial injection system you would not need the UV system, but chemical injection systems also require their fair share of maintenance. Not all filters are compatible with the chemicals used for chemical injection. Clack pistons and seals hold up extremely well to well water. We have been using them on well water for over 20 years.

      You would need a Reverse Osmosis drinking water system like this waterestore.com/products/hum-cottage-water-75-gpd-r-o-drinking-water-system-with-guv-5s

    OK, so if I have a well that has a jet pump hooked up to what he calls a pressure tank, but mines does not say pressure tank. It says reserve tank. It’s basically the same thing they both hold water inside of a bladder system and the bladder system pressurizes the tank, so that you have normal water pressure like if you were hooked up to city water

    Good advice but the "crash" sound while the host is talking has no purpose. Got some tips regardless, thanks!

      Thanks for watching. Trying to make videos a little more interesting with sound affects.

    How can I send you a sample of my water to figure out what system I need for my water? I have a lot of iron, I use at least 2 filters a month and still have to use iron out to wash white clothes and I use it in my toilet and other iron removing chemicals for other things like the bath tub, sinks...etc
