I really love how caring you are and how quickly you make friends. Not only are you friends with them but you lean into what they love and you help them with knowledge you have acquired. You give to others and it’s so refreshing to see. You are a gem of a gardener but even more so of a person. Love it so much. 💝
I look forward to watching your videos everyday and admit we can learn more at any age. Your tips and tricks have taught us ways to get the most out of our plants. I would love to win the Jenny’s favorites.
What a gift to see someone representing NOR CAL gardens ! I can finally watch a UA-cam channel and get information on my planting zone . I appreciate your plant suggestions and field trips to local garden centers. I love how you feature folks in our area and give them credit for the hard work they do. Thank you 🌷🌷
Hi Janey, I have been watching you for more than a year and In the last several months, despite the challenges posed with your foot injury, I think you are hitting your stride! I love that you approach issues from both the practical and scientific sides. I love that you are forthright about things you know and things you want to learn more about. And I love the many, many gardeners you have introduced us to that have a wealth of knowledge. You are so creative and open to trying new things and meeting new people. I think you have found your niche and I can't wait to see what your spirit comes up with next! From revealing a fail to seeing the irony in the yellow tulips that sneaked into your planters to taking the bull by the horns in running the Bobcat, you have shown that being a gardener is equal parts energy, openess to new experiences and loving the earth. Keep learning, keep sharing and enjoy yourself in the process! Love what you are doing here! Anne
Janey, I have to tell you, I have been watching your show for about a year and a half. I started loving it all the more when you moved to your new home. It’s been so fun to see all the planning & planting that you’ve been doing! I have started to like your show even more than garden answer which is surprising. I love your personality. You are so bubbly and so fun. Just the music on your show is so much fun I love listening to it. I’m not trying to be a butt kisser. I just seriously am sharing my heart. Thank you for all you do - and Jason too!
So great to have this wealth of information on clematis, especially for my zone 9b. Love your energy and enthusiasm, you are an inspiration! Hope you won't mind if I mention that the Floret channel has videos on a woman gardening clematis in the Ukraine. It's called "Gardening in a War Zone" and it's really worth seeing.
I second this. The documentary is called "Gardening in a War Zone! Quite beautiful work and quite difficult because you hear the war sirens in the background off and on.
This video inspired me to drive over to Cottage Gardens this afternoon and buy one of the Ville de Lyon clematis for my garden. I even had an opportunity to speak to Fionuala, such a kind lady.
The clematis is going to look beautiful in the spot you chose for it!! However, you may want to put a thick layer of mulch to keep the roots cool, rather than the rocks. Rocks retain heat and may be too warm for the clematis.
You are so incredibly lucky to garden where you do! I am watching from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and I have no snow and haven´t had for a couple of weeks (yes, Global Warming is a thing!) and still will no be able to plant anything for another 2 months! What torture!! Thank goodness I can refresh my knowledge of gardening by watching you and Laura while I wait to get going in my garden! Thanks for sharing all you know. That is how I have learned 95% of what I do know and the other 5% I gained from watching my mother when she was here in Earth with me. Happy gardening!!
Everything small thing you plant is making a difference!!! Your videos are informative and I admire that you are not SELLING plants but inspiring them! Good job!
I love that you demonstrate the importance of keeping a measuring tape among your gardening tools. 😊 One more clematis tip from the midwest, not sure if your area would have this problem. Plant clematis deeply (similar to tomato 🍅 plants). Verticillum wilt can affect above-ground foliage, but not the deep roots where fresh, new growth emerges.
I recently grabbed some flower starts from the roadside flower farm down the street and I payed with Venmo and when it said what for I just put “joy” so I loved the title for today’s video! 😊That magnolia is fab-u-lous!!
You just have the perfect property and I love the style of your house. Hard to find ranch homes now since everything is being built up with very little property. If I was the prior owner, I would be so pleased with what you have done with the property.
Good Morning Jenny! I need to ask you a very important question but first I will tell you why. I am 70+ years,I’m a short 5’ barely. Already had a knee replacement and the other the pain is horrendous but I don’t give up easily. My question is on tools they are made for men, mostly. To dig the holes in the ground can you guide me to something I could use? I watched you with the auger 😳 I used to be that strong but not anymore. Al (dear husband) does all the planting for me but he’s no spring chicken. On the tour, you are having soon, I won’t be able to attend but we will for the next one. I’m really excited about meeting you and Robbie in person. Thank you Jenny. 🌻
haha @ the random tulips! That's what happens every time I grow seeds. I'll buy a back of orange zinnias and they will have purple ones in there. I had some pink in with the red. So, now I just mix all the colors when I do seeds. Nature isn't perfect, and there is beauty in those imperfections.
I’m so happy you planted clematis it is absolutely my favorite plant and one of the easiest to grow in our garden zone 9B. I think it’s going to do so well for you. We are only an hour or so away so I know you will be successful with this plant. Congratulations on your beautiful garden, looking so stunning as you are my beautiful friend. 👍❤️🥰🌸Liz from California
I never would have thought of clematis as a cut flower. With four on the way this spring adding to my three specimens I'll have to see if any can be trimmed for bouquets.
Janey I love your original plan to add the red tulips, it is an artistic thing to do, just as a painter would add the touch of interest to keep the eye moving. Also loving the surprise of the yellow tulips.🌷
Does Fionuala have a Facebook page yet or just UA-cam? I love that you're helping her get a channel started! Maybe you can share a few tips on building a social media presence so people like me can be cool like you 😉 My favorite moment in this video was Monty inspecting your work when you finished weeding lol. He's such a sweet garden pup!
I have a 6 year old jackmanii clematis. It grows up a trellis then I tie string to the top of the trellis and connect it to my roof. It grows up to the roof every year and blooms most of the summer!
Yes, Finuola is so knowledgeable and inspiring. You are making so many gardening friends. It is snowing here in southern Wisconsin so my garden is my grow lights in the house today!
I so appreciate hearing Finoula's advice about pruning clematis!!! I have three, and I'm absolutely going to try this! Another flush of blooms? Yes, please. Thank you.
I got in on the ground floor when you started your channel, and I knew instantly that you would become a sensation! I am so proud of you, and thrilled to watch you grow your channel. Thanks for the heads up on the new UA-cam channel for Cottage Gardens. I have subscribed, and look forward to more videos with you and Fionuala. I had the chance to meet her when I picked up my very first David Austin rose, and she was delightful. You are a good friend to help Fionuala get her channel jumpstarted. You uplift everyone.💐
Thank you so much for all your content. I watch a fair number of UA-cam gardeners, but you are my hands-down favorite. I love your enthusiasm and honesty, and a bonus for me is that you're the closest to me geographically, same growing zone, I'm just a little further southwest of you.
So now I need to find a spot for a new clematis! You’re going to love the new star magnolia…it will pop against the dark fence. If you’re going to underplant, do it before it grows too large (Magnolias have a mass of very shallow roots).
Janey! I JUST planted this same Magnolia Royal Star! Mine is still in full bloom, so I’m really excited to see the beautiful leaves on yours that I get to look forward to. Thank you for sharing all of the wonderful clematis knowledge, too. That was such a serendipitous spot, just waiting for your new clematis!
Another yes vote on the Ville de Lyon clematis. I have one that I grow up a mock orange bush. It look stunning in June when the mock orange is bloomed out and the clematis blooms in that pretty fuschia pink. The clematis may have a hard time climbing the lattice. You might want to fasten some florist wire to it so the clematis has something to grab hold of.
I'm a new Clematis grower🤣😂I planted one last year. Needless to say, I didn't know what i was doing. But now thanks to you and Mrs. Fionuala, i have a little confidence in my garden abilities. My neighbors might get jealous. Thank you so much. ❤
Was surprised to see the clematis you planted was from Donahue's. They are a big hyberdizer of clematis that are 30 miles from us in Faribault MN. The one thing they suggest is bury the head deeper. That's how the plant thickens at the base. Great video! Thanks!
I really enjoy watching your videos. I’ve learned a ton from you I am also learning what I can and cannot use in my garden. I really appreciate the time you take in explaining everything. 😊
If you’ve never planted Hopeseed before. It gets very leggy if trimmed as a tree. I had several and they turned out to be a stick with a few branches on top. Might want to leave it as a bush for a while to see what you like best. The heather is beautiful.
Good morning Janey and🐕 Loving your garden, Im going to Amarillo, Texas in April, I'll be looking for some clematis I have one (pink) they are such a pretty plant. Thank you Janey love your Ideas, when you all move in to your new home, i thought to myself, thats going to be lots of work but its coming along thank you for bring us along, while you turn your yard into a beautiful Oasis. Have a great rest of the day and weekend. 🌱 🌸 🙂 👋
I have a Ville de Lyon on a 10' trellis with another type of Clematis of a similar habit. I cut it right down to about a foot in spring and it hits the top and then tips over the other side. Look after it just as you said. Cut it back a few weeks ago. It's snowing again here but it will be fine. 🇨🇦 🌨️. I get two bloomings out of Group 2 but never tried with Group 3. Maybe that's a California thing. 😊
I've had a Lyon de Ville clematis for about 15 years and it's my FAVORITE! I love it so much that I ordered another one. I have mine growing along a fence so rather than growing 15 feet up mine spreads across my garden fence.
That clematis is going to be stunning there!!! Perfect spot! I can’t wait to see it in its glory this season!!! Also, clematis like their “feet” shaded, so I encourage you to plant something like an annual near its roots to give it shade. I always underplant mine with a Proven Winners petunia. Right now, I planted some pansies at the base of mine, since it’s too early for me to plant petunias.
Oh Janie. You do not know how comforting the Clematis pruning advice is to me. For the first time I feel like I get it and I will remember it! Yes!! I am going to prune all my Clematis this way this year and see what happens.
One thing I would appreciate is if you would write the plant names in the description box. I just love your channel and would appreciate it if I could find things easily when I go to my local greenhouses.
Your house is east-facing. I'm glad you said that. I always wonder which direction garden UA-camrs' homes face. That's helpful. We're in the same gardening zone, but I'm deep south Louisiana. My house faces west, so my back yard is east. Happy Spring!
Love watching your videos....the plants that you have are so different when compared to where i live...so exotic....but still love watching you create your garden from scratch...we only have one creamy white clematis in my country...we call it bridal bouquet...❤
Yeah I have one of those magnolias it's bigger than yours but it's you know it's got a ways to go but it it blooms like crazy already it just so pretty
I really love how caring you are and how quickly you make friends. Not only are you friends with them but you lean into what they love and you help them with knowledge you have acquired. So nice to see her interacting with others in the community.
Your tulips are so beautiful 🤩

Those tulips are stunning against the black fence!! Love your story about when we think we are in control and nature has other plans🥰
Janey, I have to tell you, I have been watching your show for about a year and a half. I started loving it all the more when you moved to your new home. I so agree! And I love the fact that she's by and large doing it herself. Very inspiring for those of us who are also doing it solo!!!
@@gardengrrlWendy absolutely!!
The clematis is going to look beautiful there. Can't wait to see it bloom.
The random colored tulips that popped up make it look lovely!! ❤❤❤❤❤

I plan to do the same. So inspiring. 😊

What a fun day. Great information on Clematis 👍🏽
Janey I look forward to watching your channel. The joy on your face is contagious! I am inspired to get into my garden. Thank you! ❤
Everything small thing you plant is making a difference!!! Your videos are informative and I admire that you are not SELLING plants but inspiring them! Good job!
I love to have moss rock in a garden. more texture. Rocks in a garden are definitely a good thing!
I am so happy you left the zig zag planter. It is one of my favorites of your yard.
It adds a lot of interest that helps bring beauty in all that open space yet to be planted.
Did I miss the video showing that new seating area? Having that will be so inviting to perch on in the evening.
I found you through Robbie and now I’m loving every one of your videos You are adorable and love all your plant knowledge
I love that you demonstrate the importance of keeping a measuring tape among your gardening tools. 😊

Love watching you. You have a gorgeous smile and the camera loves you. Keep up the great work. Things are coming together.
🙏🏻
I love pops of red in a garden ❤
Fionuala’s advice takes the mystery out of Clematis care. So very helpful! ❤
Absolutely love your videos!! Just in the short time you have lived there you've done SO much!! Thanks for sharing!
Great video ! I hope Fionuala explains how to care for the " Montana" family of clematis !
You just have the perfect property and I love the style of your house. Hard to find ranch homes now since everything is being built up with very little property. If I was the prior owner, I would be so pleased with what you have done with the property.
Love your March plant picks.
Hi from North East, Maryland. Love your videos ❤️❤️ you have a beautiful family, you are blessed ❤️
Thanks for the great info on clematis! That info takes away a lot of the intimidation factor.
Love, love, love everything you're doing in your garden and I love the yellow tulips that came to visit.
You are a beautiful person. Love those tulips!!!!!

Loving the progress also! Learning a whole lot.
You are really getting there Janey💕 I love your plant choices🌸🌱🌺
Great video, thank you for sharing this with us ❤
Janey, my Heather is a Honey Bee magnet. They are covered ❤
Nature knows best! Liked the natural color combo; thought it was on purpose 😅❤
I have a Star Magnolia and just love it. The fragrance and soft pink and white color is so pretty. You will enjoy that small tree.
haha @ the random tulips! That's what happens every time I grow seeds. I'll buy a back of orange zinnias and they will have purple ones in there. I had some pink in with the red. So, now I just mix all the colors when I do seeds. Nature isn't perfect, and there is beauty in those imperfections.
Looking great ❤️
I have a few of the Ville de Lyon clematis, they're my fav and I adore them. I plant them with a white or purple clematis and it's breathtaking.
Can they be planted in a pot?

Good morning! Something about this morning’s video made me so very happy to see how ‘Janiefied ‘ your new property is.🎉 Lovely❤
Excellent knowledge!! She is a true teacher!❤
Jackmanili ( purple) Gurnsey ( cream) are my favorites
Just saw Magnolia "Royal Star" in the nursery today...may use it in a client's garden.
Janey, everything is really taking shape!! Very exciting!
Thank you Janey. Good luck and Happy Growing ! 🪻💚🙃
I have a 6 year old jackmanii clematis. It grows up a trellis then I tie string to the top of the trellis and connect it to my roof. It grows up to the roof every year and blooms most of the summer!
You are such a blessing and a spreader of joy as well. I just subscribed to her channel! 🙂💕 Thank you for all that you do! 💕💕💕💕💕💕
Love the clematis and where you planted it. I bet your girls would like to do some rock painting. 😊
Yes, Finuola is so knowledgeable and inspiring. You are making so many gardening friends. It is snowing here in southern Wisconsin so my garden is my grow lights in the house today!
A great informative video, you are getting so much in, its getting very colorful
Everything is growing so fast! Your property is looking beautiful, amazing how much things have changed. ❤

I've been growing Ville De Lyon in my zone 5b garden for years. I let it grow through my shrub roses. Bonny
I'm a new Clematis grower🤣😂I planted one last year. Needless to say, I didn't know what i was doing. But now thanks to you and Mrs. Fionuala, i have a little confidence in my garden abilities. My neighbors might get jealous. Thank you so much. ❤
I'm waiting on four plants coming in May that I ordered from Brushwood Nursery. They're fantastic!
You need some globe amaranth the purple ones, stunning they love heat
I spied those yellows! Now you'll always have to add a yellow tulip to your plantings.
Your guest seems so very informative I want to move closer to her place 😊
Thank you Janie! As always, you keep shining!
Learned so much!
Was surprised to see the clematis you planted was from Donahue's. They are a big hyberdizer of clematis that are 30 miles from us in Faribault MN. The one thing they suggest is bury the head deeper. That's how the plant thickens at the base. Great video! Thanks!
Thanks so much for sharing! I needed this 🎉 good info ❤
I really enjoy watching your videos. I’ve learned a ton from you I am also learning what I can and cannot use in my garden. I really appreciate the time you take in explaining everything. 😊
I had to fight all the bees on the Heather at Home Depot so I could place them in my cart.
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
You have helped me so much and I'm so inspired. Love every video!
If you’ve never planted Hopeseed before. It gets very leggy if trimmed as a tree. I had several and they turned out to be a stick with a few branches on top. Might want to leave it as a bush for a while to see what you like best. The heather is beautiful.
Great jo
Im going to check what zone for the Villa De Lyon. Love both plants.
Good morning Janey and🐕
Loving your garden, Im going to Amarillo, Texas in April, I'll be looking for some clematis I have one (pink) they are such a pretty plant.
