    Wow! This is exactly what happened to me in 2018. I even booked THROUGH Embassy Suites. I researched like crazy and made sure what I was reserving. Got there and was met with "well that's not what you reserved". They even had this color coded map and everything. I ended up spending double for my 34th floor suite.

    Welcome to Niagra Falls... the biggest tourist trap in Canada. Been there, and easy to feel scammed every time you pull out your wallet on the Canadian side. But it is a great place to visit, just be on guard when visiting. Unfortunately a reputable brand like Embassy Suites is part of the trap.
    I was hoping to see Christine and Louis riding Seadoos up to the falls, but I can wait for another exciting jetski video later... 😂

      Lol. Glad to hear it was not just us. I definitely thought about riding jet skis on the falls. The more I looked into it the less it seemed to appealing. Turns out someone did already. Back in the 80's or 90's a guy rode a ski over the falls to raise awareness for homelessness. His plan was to pull a parachute once he launched. Tragically, it did not go as planned. There are videos of the attempt on UA-cam if you care to look it up.

    I will be visiting Niagara Falls, Canada at the end of the month. In your video you mentioned Uber. Did you all fly into Buffalo,NY and Uber to your hotel? If you did, was the process smooth?

      We flew into Toronto and took an Uber from Toronto to Niagara falls. Is about an hour and a half car ride. Although if you have the time I would recommend taking the train. There are several options from Toronto, and I think Amtrak even has service from Buffalo.

      Another option now that I think about it would be to take an Uber to the rainbow bridge. You can walk across the bridge and and go through Canadian customs. Then pick up a Canadian Uber on the other side.

    Never use a third party book directly with hotel

    • @professionalweekenders
      @professionalweekenders  Рік тому +2

      We have been using hotels.com for a long time and this is the first time that we've had anything like this happen. Honestly I do not think it was an issue with the third party booking site. Instead it seems like they must get some sort of sales commission by trying to upsell anybody who walks into the lobby at this hotel. I can imagine the same what happened if we had booked directly with the hotel as well.

      You take the bet that all the accommodations will be perfect when you book with 3rd party. Staff have been instructed to have you kick rocks if any changes or requests are made to the room. You did have leverage when you did agree to an upgrade from their sales pitch so they were more willing to accommodate. In the end, just know that its a calculated risked when booking with 3rd parties, but hotels are more likely to give u the less desirable room first and keep the preferred rooms for their own in house accounts

    Hey guys, great vid. I am currently planning my trip to the Falls with my GF, and I booked a room at the Embassy Suites called "King Bed with Sofa Bed and partial view of Niagara Falls - Floors 10-25". Do you think that the "partial view" will be adequate or simply a disappointment? Asking ahead since I can cancel before December 9. Do you think we will be put in the same sales-pitch situation?😅
    Stay frosty guys!

    • @professionalweekenders
      @professionalweekenders  8 місяців тому

      That is the same room we booked. The partial falls view. They call it partial because you can't see the American falls, but you get a great view of the Canadian falls (the better looking falls). I wouldn't doubt if you get the same sales pitch. Let us know if you do. In my opinion it is not worth the upgrade (particularly if it is a low floor). Enjoy your trip!

      @@professionalweekenders Awesome. Yes, the "partial" view looks good enough to me since the Canadian side is more impressive anyway. By the way: I actually got the room for $178 for one night off of Expedia. Not sure if that's because I'm going in the Winter or not.
      Thanks for the quick response. Subbed and liked the vid💯

      @@dallaslooksmaxxer3505 Awesome! Sounds like a great value. I suspect like you said winter is likely less popular and less expensive. Although, I've seen some photos of the falls in winter and it looks amazing! Have a great trip! Thanks for the sub!

      I 2021 we stayed at the Marriott fallsview, and we did not have a shown additional charge for parking at the hotel. The two night stay then was just over $500 Cnd. The room was respectable but nothing fancy. The view was overlooking the horseshoe falls. It was just as Covid was ending in Canada and some of the restriction we had were being lifted, so we paid the cost, was just nice to finally be able to get away. I am sure that the cost is much greater now in 2024.
