I would love to hear if Hilton reaches out after this, because the state of that room is pretty damn sad and they should be embarrassed. The suites should be perfect. They should be the most up to date styling, everything should work, and the balcony shouldn't be locked. Also, self parking should be included.

I can't even imagine the disappointment of someone saving up for a special occasion to stay here, and being greeted with this. Gonna be honest, when this channel first launched I balked at it; I though "Oh great, UA-camr swinging his success around, showing off ultra luxury top dollar experiences that 99% of his viewers will never be able to even dream of having for themselves. The nerve of this guy!" But after seeing these episodes so far I've realized I had it all wrong. Every one of these mega priced hotels, cruises, etc. has been varying degrees of crap, and Jake has been shelling out the big bucks so we don't have to. So thank you, Jake, for taking the hits for the rest of us and showing that top tier vacations aren't nearly all they're cracked up to be.

I also am thankful to have a platform where I can voice my grievances of the hospitality industry. There are so many products out there that I have always been so confused on how they get away with it. I believe so deeply that the consumer should be as informed as possible and never accept what corporations give us. In fairness though, I am very selfishly getting to do what I love, which is traveling and trying new things. But if people care about my opinions and I earn the trust of all of you, then I am incredibly thankful! I'm glad you're enjoying the content and I hope you stay aboard!

    • @sirrliv
      @sirrliv Рік тому

@@BrightSunTravels Honestly, I think the biggest reason places like the Hilton here can get away with it is because the demographic they cater to don't understand realistic value; they've got so much money to splash out that they actually cannot comprehend what things are and are not worth. "$20 for a bowl of cereal? Is that weird?" Yes, yes it is. But they will never realize that because they have never had to worry about money in their lives. Meanwhile, us down in the proletariat and what little remains of the middle class look at that and choke because we know what we pay for what we need and likewise what we are not willing to pay for said things.
That said though, I'm not exactly an anti-Capitalist myself. On the contrary, I think these hospitality chains are doing themselves a severe disservice by charging such absurdly vast sums for inferior service. By either reducing the prices to something more appealing to lower wealth brackets or using their inflated profits on maintenance, staff training, property improvement, etc., I think these companies could easily see their revenues multiply simply by doing better.
Then again, in the current business climate of Late Stage Capitalism, short-term gains are all that matter and concepts like "Investing back into business improvement" make shareholders break out in hives. So they just scam all the money they can and walk away when it all tumbles down. Which has basically becomes the theme of your other channel recently, it seems.

*DEFINITELY NOT TOO NITPICKY* Every single “Presidential Suite” I’ve stayed in at Hilton properties have the same issues. Stuff that’s broken, worn down, and dirty. The last time I had this happen, we canceled the rest of our stay as the staff wasn’t willing to do anything to fix any issues. As we were leaving we walked by one of their other “lesser suites” and it was FAR NICER than their “Presidential Suite” smaller, but everything in the smaller suite was at least 5 years newer, the carpets werent worn out, and it was absolutely *spotless*. This is definitely a problem with the brand as a whole. A completely inexplicable one IMHO.

Good for you pointing out all the broken things, dysfunctional design aspects, and Hilton just being cheap with things like bedding, toiletries, and the awkward Walmart refrigerator. So many travel reviewers are being comped their stays and hence their reviews are usually 95% focused on the positives. Please keep up the raw honesty and disclosure. Sadly giant hospitality companies like Hilton are focused on profits and their share price above all else and it shows. The only winners are the obscenely compensated senior management and other significant shareholders. Also sad is the giants have bought up a lot of the wonderful independent boutique high end hotels and largely ruined them forcing them into their corporate mold.

So, I worked at a Radisson for a few years in the pastry department. Your complementary breakfast consists of pre-made place-and-bake frozen mini-danishes, and it looks like they didn't even bake them properly for how deflated they are, nor did they do anything to finish them (which even at a business-class hotel that was on its way out, we dressed these up with glazed fresh fruit and/or icing drizzles and chopped toasted nuts when we used them in the morning buffet because they're so sad as they are). A box of 120 pieces runs about $80 USD these days so your plate of pastries at most probably cost them about $6.50 USD to produce, including the berries, the muffin liner, and the (very minimal) labor involved.

People who say the government shouldn’t be allowed to create these parks have a sense of entitlement that makes them think that the private sector should be allowed to Fleece people for everything they can get out of them. Hilton is one such example. They’ve been allowing this hotel to fall into complete disrepair based on the fact that people will still show up at their doorstep based off a company reputation that no longer should apply. This should have been called Hotel 5 by Hilton.

Niagara Falls is the most touristy town that doesn't want any tourists to be there. Everything is overpriced, and not by a little bit. Many places add a tourist tax, that is only a price gouge, and not actually a tax. Service is terrible everywhere, and finding anyone who works anywhere in the city who works in the tourist industry who actually is friendly and service oriented is near impossible. The falls are impressive. If you go there, visit the falls, but don't stay in the city, or seriously take in any other attractions. Stay in Niagara Falls, and it'll be the most expensive, most disappointing vacation you'll have ever taken

The last time I visited Niagara Falls, was in 2014, when I attended an academic conference held at Brock University. My room on campus was very affordable, and I took a 30-minute bus to Clifton Hill (which cost me next to nothing, and I was the only passenger, so it felt like my own private limo). Best Niagara Falls experience in terms of value for money. :)

We booked a stay at the Hilton in July 2023 for our anniversary. Booked the falls view room which was $500 + per night. The room smelled so musty and moldy we couldn’t even stay there. Tried to get a different room and they didn’t have any available, so we had to change hotels. They were not going to refund our money. We ended up having to stay at the super 8 motel as no other hotels had any rooms available at such short notice. They charged us for both nights and we didn’t even stay there one night! After many emails and phone calls they finally refunded our money. I would never book to stay at the Hilton there again!!

The last time I stayed at the Hilton in Niagara Falls it was still only a single tower and there was a huge pool with a big waterslide and a cool waterfall. It certainly has changed over the years. My favorite hotel in Niagara falls is the Sheraton because of it's location right on Clifton Hill.

I have very fond memories of visiting the falls as a kid, so last summer I went with my husband and baby for a weekend trip and damn… Niagara Falls has not held up. It feels run down, dirty, and full of American chain restaurants and run down carnival games. We stayed at a B&B in Niagara on the Lake and I am so grateful we did - it’s miles and above a nicer town to visit than Niagara Falls is any more.

I was also employed as a Valet driver at this same Hilton in the early 2000s. Got to drive sooo many nice vehicles!!!

As a youngster in the early and mid-1970’s we’d sometimes go to the Falls and stay on the NY side, usually at the same motel. Even then the room was smaller than the small motels we usually went to on most vacations and long weekend trips…that was the only room in which I slept on the couch, not that I minded. But my dad probably paid well under ten bucks. Besides the spectacular falls, part of the charm was just how gaudy and chintzy everything was, though the Canadian side was nicer, and I’ll never forget those stays.

In 2019 my wife and I stayed at the Embassy Suites and we loved it. Our room had an incredible view of the falls that we could see in bed just by raising our head. The view was actually better than on the hotel website (and our photos didn’t really capture it either). If it wasn’t for the pandemic, we would definitely have already gone back. I think there was so much to do - don’t miss the Whitewater Gorge and the Spanish Aerocar over the whirlpool, and Niagara on the lake. We skipped Clifton Hill, the Casino and Skylon Tower (though I would have liked to try that). To be honest my wife dragged me but I am a convert, it’s incredible in spite of the best efforts to junk it up.

I have no idea how this particular Hilton hasn't been kicked out of the brand. Every room is in disrepair. Nothing works. Elevators are always off line and customer service is usually a shrug. The Hilton brand is damaged by this property. The best fallsview rooms in Niagara Falls are at The Embassy Suites across the street. Bit the fact remains that if you go to Niagara Falls, you will be gouged and you will feel disappointed. Mark Twain wrote an essay about his visit to Niagara and everyone should read before they go themselves. Although some of the attractions have changed, the sentiment remains the same.

Let’s be honest, the kinds of tourists that would go to Niagara Falls for vacation are probably not used to the finer offerings in life, and therefore they’re just so happy that they’re in a “suite” that they’re willing to overlook a lot of the faults. And Hilton knows that.

During that time I worked at the Hilton, the Marriot and Sheraton falls view. The three major hotels in that small area.
Can confirm the places are I deed sh*tholes.
Severely understaffed and over worked employees. In the office season they lay off 95% of employees and the entire town is on EI.

amazing job! you got me so curious, I've spent the last 5 hours researching about/ around Niagara falls NY/ CA now I came back to comment, I learned about the strange highways and their history (Niagara/ Robert Moses parkway), the love canal, the awful urban renewal failure that decreased the population to half, learned how the casino tribes work with the government/state/city and land which is incredible odd and sketchy.. and at the end of it I'm just so amazed.. it still feels to me like this is some fantasy place, its unreal how some parts are so nice then so incredibly shitty, and it seems like they had endless options, potential to create a great little metro area, and they just botched/ ruined every opportunity by slowly killing the city and tearing it apart.. also speaking more of the NY side in this, however some can be applied to the Canadian side too, it just feels to me when I look at it like no other place I could ever think of lol. its like an extension of buffalo that is all randomly chopped up with heavy population in some spots then large empty areas/ blocks in other spots looking like Detroit.. strange place, anyway I loved the video and you sparked my curiosity and I learned a lot so thanks, and have a good one!!!!!

I grew up in WNY, only an hour's drive from Niagara Falls. My wife & I actually stayed at the Hilton in NF, Ontario for our honeymoon on "SED" (somebody else's dollar, in that case my sister's). We didn't stay in the presidential suite, but she did get us the honeymoon suite, which had some nicer features like a large jacuzzi tub and a view of the falls. We decided to try Brasa, having never tried a Brazilian steakhouse before. We both thought the food was exceptional, but it did take some getting used to how they served it. I suspect that may have been a big reason for the lower rating. If you're not familiar with a Brazilian steakhouse, you don't order just one cut of meat like at a regular steakhouse. Instead the waiters walk around with various meats that have a sword running through them like a skewer. You're given a card when seated that has a green side and a red side. If the green side is facing up, the waiters will stop and tell you what meat they're carrying. If you want to try it, they'll use the sword to cut you off a piece right there and put it on your plate, and then continue on. If the red side of the card is facing up, they'll just skip your spot. Then there's also a buffet that acts like a traditional buffet.
Overall I thought our stay at the Hilton in Niagara Falls was decent enough, though to be fair it was our honeymoon and paying attention to the small details of the room or the food wasn't quite the top of our priorities.

Seems to be on par with Canadian nickel-and-diming that is so prevalent in Canada and yes, I realize that on par to the United States; Canada is expensive. The room that you show is simply awful, out of date, dreary, overwrought and just over. Hilton seems to be that way. Should you ever find your way in Coronado, California. Do check out the Hotel Del Coronado, a Hilton Curio managed mess that is nearly obscene in price. I have a condo nearby and used to frequent the Hotel Del for the bar, occasional dining, the spa. After their five year $400,000,000 expansion and renovation, has become even more obscene. It would seem that their bread and butter is corporate meetings and events and the average well heeled tourist be dammed. Much of the place is frequently roped off limits to regular guests for private events and whatnot. Back to Canadian hotels, some of the worst and over priced hotels that I have experienced are in Canada.

As a Niagara Falls resident, and someone that worked in hospitality for almost 15 years (some of that time spent in this Hilton), I can comfortably say that anybody wanting to go to Niagara Falls should seriously reconsider. It's overpriced, dated, unappreciated, and a tourist trap. If you want to come to see the falls in their glory, get a cheap air bnb, go see the falls, and leave the next day. You'll save money, time, and frustration. I can see Niagara Falls in the next decade or two becoming an abandoned ghost town, because I do not see how it can be maintained in its current state.

  • @IntriguedLioness

Traveling tourism is my life. I love to travel and do so over 100 room nights per year, I also made it my career.
I currently work in tourism destination management wherein I'm very much aware of what not only a room night cost but the city itself, taxas, dining averages, airport transportation Etc. You figure these things into the property itself and there is no way the Hilton deserves four stars.
The problem is the stars are not based on a guest's experience. There's a whole mathematical schematic outlying how many elevators for how many rooms for how many floors per... well you get the idea.
When I worked in yield management at InterContinental Hotels based in Manhattan I probably had countless chances to go to Niagara Falls but had no wish to see a horribly overbuilt tourist spot which actually was the reason for the NPS to provide restrictions and laws on our national parks and attractions.
Niagara Falls just like vegas, or literally the stuff that I have an idea what the fifth ring of hell would be. I've seen the most glorious falls on this planet and none of them have overbuilt ugly hotels with parking lots surrounding them.
Also, working in yield management I'm very much aware of what penthouse suites go for and rarely does any individual pay for even a single room night. These are booked for corporate events and even gifted to celebrities. They are used for photo shoots and interviews in the day and usually flipped before that night so they can sell the room night to some schmuck.
With a dilapidation of this property and suite I would probably pay $600 rack, but that's with the balcony door that opens. I assume security wasn't on it some nights and someone threw things off the balcony and that's the reason the balconies are now locked down but this suite..... without the balcony... maybe $200 and I'm checking out the next morning.
First time catching your videos and channel on my feed and I appreciate your honesty and sarcasm! Tourism is a trap for most but a traveler can always find a good experience. Niagara Falls and Hilton Hotels are not on my bucket list, but thank you for helping me roll both out!
