The ZMZ-511 engine is indeed a significant power unit, primarily known for its use in vehicles like the GAZ-53 and GAZ-3307. Here are some key details: Specifications Type: V8 overhead valve (OHV) engine. Displacement: Approximately 5.0 liters (5000 cc). Power Output: About 125 horsepower (п.с.) when running on AI-92 gasoline. Application: Commonly found in trucks, especially the GAZ-53, a popular Soviet medium-duty truck, and the GAZ-3307, which was used in various transport roles. Features Design: The ZMZ-511 features an open deck block design, contributing to its robustness and reliability in demanding environments. Oil System: It often includes external oil lines, particularly for lubrication efficiency in heavy-duty applications. This engine has played a crucial role in the automotive history of the Soviet Union and remains significant in many classic and retro vehicle restorations today.

Hello, you are mistaken, for its size this engine has very poor power ratings of 152 HP and low torque coupled with high fuel consumption, it is absolutely not suitable for racing Really good V8 is 1uz-fe from Toyota It is good only for its low price, that’s where its advantages end I don’t need to lie, I saw how this engine works in a car and it’s a bad job
This is the 4.2 truck version, cammed for high torque at Low RPM. There is a Chaika version, with much better camming and 5.5 displacement. That will give the good boost.

A full restoration I don’t think so, the liners weren’t honed out, used the old rings, used the old rear main seal, didn’t see him use the tension wrench on the main bearing bolts, a very rudimentary valve job. The guy did a good job with what he had but it was a long way off a full restoration.
Clickbait title. Not a full restoration but, the kind of bare bones rescue of an engine if you were in the Siberian waste and had no extra parts. A full restoration means a machine shop where it gets hot tanked, every surface machined to like new condition, and all new parts.
As a mechanic this is not how you rebuild an engine. You didn't polish the crack correctly and you absolutely over grinded the valves thinning them. Do not copy this ! You didn't even home the cylinders.
