      Regarding Disney canon - I'll only really make content on it if it connects to things from KOTOR or the Old Republic to some extent. And reviews of the Major shows/movies/games etc. It's rare for me to find enough real interest in making content directly pertaining to it. Shorts are probably the only time I'd touch the lore.

    Irl black holes can actually be overwhelmed in some sense; if you try to dump in material faster than roughly the Eddington limit divided by the speed of light squared, the energy released will throw some material back out, and trying to put more in (without being smart about it, anyway) will just result in it being kicked out again.

    I really appreciated the Starkiller video but this is so far from Luke’s greatest feat. True Force Storms are 4D in attack potency and Luke is able to match that level of power with minor amps from Leia in Dark Empire. And Luke obviously goes on to become stronger by the time he fights Abeloth.
    This feat probably is blown out of proportion but it’s also so insignificant compared to the real ability of high tier Force sensitives that we could accept the black holes as genuine and it wouldn’t affect Luke’s power scaling.

    I never personallt read this story in particular but I did read later on when Luke was retracing Jacen's steps in his 5 year soujourn and found the Aing-Tii Monks. He learned the Fold Space technique from them, allowing him to teleport objects short distances. He got to this point when he was much older, his son being in his late teens/young adulthood.
    After watching this I wonder how much of his learning was informed by this incident? Or if he could take what he learned from the Aing-Tii and apply it to the Dova Basin, what would have happened then? Fun questions. Again great video. Please do more.
    Personally I love Jacen Solo/Darth Caedus so anything on him I would watch.

    The dovin basals are basically organic power management, just like you get in the X-wing and Tie Fighter games. You can use them offensive, by draining the enemy shields, defensively by absorbing enemy fire, or as propulsion.
    As for the part about Luke being exhausted, there's actually a good explanation, one we see often in Yoda. There's two ways to "use the Force", an active way and a passive way. Actively using Force powers gives you more resistance to their effects as you're used to using them, but blinds you to the Force's currents. Passive use of the Force, like Yoda mostly does, means you get insight, you see into the future, you sense dangers and can plan ahead. Similar to how submarines hunt. When you use active sonar you can detect everything around you, but your signature is heard much further than you can detect things. Passive sonar, on the other hand, lets you listen for your opponents while staying hidden.
    So that's why Luke was so exhausted, as by then he rarely used the Force actively. Much like we see in Yoda's fight with Dooku and later the Emperor.

  • @RevanX77
    @RevanX77 2 роки тому

    What is described in the Jaina passage is the proton torpedo detonating shy of the dovin bassal, and a little bit of the bomb's energy that wasn't consumed reaching it's target. That doesn't equal "completely overwhelming it" as you immediately say afterwards. You're assuming the void had an upper limit to what it could absorb and the torpedo met and exceeded that limit, but instead it's just as reasonable to say that when the torpedo detonated early, and some of the blast simply never touched the event horizon at all and so wasn't consumed.
    Also obviously Luke's greatest feats were matching Albeloth or withstanding the entire combined Force energy of the Killik colony.

    Yeah. It literally calls and describes it as a black hole. Are they Supermassive or stellar mass blackholes? No. But, anything, if it can be compressed enough can become a black hole,.. even energy. The later is called a Kugelblitz Blackhole and that is the type projected by the Dovin Basals.
    And these blackholes weren’t overwhelmed. But rather the Dovin Basals tire after a while. To say that their projected blackholes were overwhelmed is like saying that your shield were overwhelmed. When in actuality, it is the shield generators and it’s power supply that are being overwhelmed and/or drained.
    What Luke did was wrestled control of the blackhole from one of the bigger Dovin Basals, until it began to tire. And it drained him, since he didn’t at the time understand the mechanics of it. Afterwards he taught the others how to do it.
    What blackholes do is bend spacetime. And they can’t eat everything in their path, but are limited by its mass. If we some day were to “accidentally” create a tiny one in a lab, it will not suck down the Earth. At best, it would sink to the core without much fanfare. So that one created by a Dovin Basal was able to eat a large vehicle while the ones created by the Dovin Basals on their Coral Skippers weren’t able to do much more than curve the trajectory of starfight blaster bolts and torpedos half the time says something about their scaling.
    What Luke accomplished at the time was major. But not the most impressive thing that he or even weaker Force Users have done.

    Not disagreeing, no one can move a black hole in Star Wars without extreme tech like Center point. This is why the Maw exists, it holds Aboloth (forgive my spelling) and there are at least 3 black holes in that region. But this gravity well, it is described as having a Event Horizon a point of no return in a full scale black hole.
    As you said Luke didn't move a Black Hole but this is a true Singularly, a point in space time where all matter and all energy is in a very small point. So Luke is quite powerful as by nature the Force should have no effect on it if all energy is pulled in. If Luke tried to move a true black hole he would find the force simply feed back and quite possibly kill him due to his connection.

    It is always a problem when a term is used to discripe something in behaviour or form and then some readers develop an Dunning-Kruger Syndrome, like the Case when someone is dimissive about science and their only defense is "it's only a theory" and even with no more knowledge than them, you can disproven them with a Dictonary and the definition of the Word "Theory"
    Same with Black Hole here. Well yes, the ones we know and seen in SciFi or the Real World are MASSIVE and GARGANTUAN or the Mass of Earth in the Size of a Football! But... well, they also can be tiny, very tiny. I mean, back in the Day when they brought the new LHC in Cern online, Nutters claimed that it could create a Black Hole that sucks up Earth! And even ignorig the explanation but if you make a Black Hole light enough, it's not really the matter of Moving it, more finding it or survive the radiation
    And ah yes: the schoolyard discussion about who is more Powerfull, i think some shoule remind themself two things:
    1. it is all made up and often not even consistent and never was
    2. what someone can do or not is based on the mood of the writer and whom he want's to win and not some RPG System in the Background, likewise how proficient someone is in the Force. Nobody needs to level up to lift some Rocks, it is even said that the Force Guides People, particular if they listen, one can even build a Lightsaber with that as complete untrained Protagonist of a certain game

      you can put real numbers behind things to it. like how much he can push or pull with witch can be used to calculate other things. u can use physics to determine who is stronger. yes its all made up but there's is a lot of fun in calculating there feats. the can most defiantly have stats to it. it may not have been the writers intent. there is canon as well witch has consistency. there proficiency in the force can be determined too. most often it is stated and can easily calculated. there physical attributes can be show as well. you just have to know what to calculate and such. most of the ones there trying to see the better of have plenty of material to grab from and use as data.

    Well what Kyp Duron did with the sun crusher wasn't much more incredible than what Yoda did on Dagobah...the Sun Crusher wasn'tuch bigger than a snub fighter and the sun crusher was very light because the Quantum Crystaline armor was extremely light, and regardless of what people seem to think, was NOT indestructible. It was constructed so therefore it cannot be indestructible and from the way I remembered it, the way to destroy it was easy and simple but very uncommon.....but I don't remember currently what it was because I haven't read that story in a long time. It wasn't the weight of the Suncrusher that made that feat impressive. It was pulling it out of Yavin Prime's (the biggest Gas Giant in the Star Wars Galaxy) gravitational pull from 100,000's of miles away on Yavin 4. The gravitional pull of Yavin Prime on the Suncrusher must be absurd given the planets's size.

    Eh only problem is that this apart from the speed of absorption of the ship is EXACTLY how a black hole work. It doesn’t absorb everything thrown at it, hence the accretion disks around them. Sao that it failed to absorb the full impact of a torpedo is how they would act. Nor would it instantly absorb the ship, it could however cause an explosion by tearing apart the ship that caused the destruction of the ship. But Star Wars has never had any realism or physics. This is proven simply by the dumb ass way of combat. They got 3D space to utilise but despite the flaws of MANY bigger ships completely lacking any defence from most angles of possible attack these weaknesses are never exploited. Star destroyers would be destroyed in the hundreds by a small squadron of x wings

    Great video, but really thinking that kyp and exar kun feat and starkiller feat is bigger than the one from luke... I dont know man, considering kyp didn't do it alone, so that comparison cant be taken serious since you are comparing a combination of power, againts a single person power, as for starkiller, well he is not moving anything he is just cushion the ship decent, also despite the fact that the mini black hole (as descrived on the book) it doesnt have the same power as a real black hole and a torpedo and laser from the x-wings can alter it. Its still in basis a mini black hole, only not as powerfull but still same as dangerous as the real one. so in terms of single power i still think luke feats is greater than any other.

      Dude it was basically an exar kun feat because exar kun unlocked kyp true potential and exar kun add from his raw force power it drained exar kun so much because kyp didn't have enough force energy to fuel exar kun spirit infact the only reason kun lost to spirit luke Skywalker the 12 jedi knight and his master spirit was because exar kun didn't have no energy reserves to pull up a fight against so much light luke Skywalker also had a major raw power boost by being an spirit

      Well, I did certainly say it was debatable in the video. :P I mention the Kyp feat simply on the basis of pulling the suncrusher away from the gravitational pull of the biggest gas giant in the Star Wars universe seems a greater achievement to me than a small dovin bassal.

    Personally Zhan's Thrawn duology, spector of the past and visions of the future is a great way to end Star Wars. The new republic and empire finally make peace. NJO, dark nest, and LOTF just don't suit me. Plus sooo many good characters are killed off and others given terrible development. Albeit I did enjoy the legacy comics bit it did still feel like the same old shtick of sith vs jedi and a skywalker must save the galaxy from evil.

    Honestly... the number of overblown stories wrote about both Luke and Palpatine in the EU is staggering.
    Both of these characters' powers were inflated to a point where they were out of scale with the entire rest of the lore. They come across more like fanfiction than cannon stories/series.
    Deleting most of the EU book/comic series was the best thing that could have been done from a "health of a setting" standpoint.

    I really liked this one m8. I suppose that the finite power of a black hole scaled down would be a good description for those of us with a more visual sense to really formulate the sense of power used. By both sides of the coin, no less. The micro b-hole(i laughed too)'s energy opposed by Luke, who has to expel as much energy respectively and relatively. I am an artist so, I process my world far differently than say an accountant. (apples to apples maybe) so this sort of a description works very well for me. Maybe not so much for poor Mr. Income H. Tax may not.

    Obi-Wan Kenobi tv show was a disaster that made Obi-Wan a secondary role in his own show. But when i see youtubers like Star Wars theory did not critise the show is making me nervous because the show is lazy, actor performance is shit and scenario is terrible. Only good thing was episode 6 where Anakin battles Obi-Wan but besides the fight the scenario was shit and writers of the show has done a terrible job...

    Wow, how the hell would you even move a black hole?

    • @eds1942
      @eds1942 2 роки тому

      You use mass or focused energy. These blackholes were created by energy rather than mass.
      But that wasn’t what Luke did here. He simply tired out the Dovin Basal, which gave him half a second to refocus their blackhole projections. Before they cutout.

      @@eds1942 huh

    • @eds1942
      @eds1942 2 роки тому

      @@Icehead2.0 E=MC^2. Matter is just another form of energy. If matter is compressed far enough, it will become a blackhole. In theory, if you focus enough energy into one single point of space, it should also become a blackhole. And mass, especially massive or focused objects liked blackholes, curve spacetime.
      The Dovin Basals focused energy at point to create a gravitational singularity at a desired point, a Kugelblitz type of blackhole. Luke resorted to wrestling with the Dovin Basal (through the Force) for control over that focal point. He “moved” it after the Dovin Basal tired, but before it turned off its energy projection. So there is room to argue either way.
      He either moved the small blackhole by moving the vehicle toward it, or by momentarily controlling the Dovin Basal’s projection cones(?), or by literally moving the blackhole.
      Knowing that one of the authors of the series understood the science of gravity, I choose to see it as Luke didn’t directly move the blackhole. Being a Star Wars fan who would rather that they not veer to close to scientific accuracy, Luke moved the blackhole. Either way, the end result is the same, the blackhole moved.
      And there is nothing stopping you to apply this on larger scales. If you want to move an object in space, you just need to have control over another object. If instance, despite the Sun’s mass and it’s obvious influence over the other planets in our system, the other planets exert gravitational influence over it, as a result, the Sun’s path through space wobbles as the planets orbit around it. Likewise, as it relates to Luke moving a blackhole, the vehicle had a degree of gravitational influence over the position of the Dovin Basals blackhole.
      Ummm, I think I forgot my point.
