- So I've now made my way to Cartagena, Colombia! I flew here from Leticia in the Amazon and I just have a few days before heading to the San Blas Islands. I got a hair cut, body scrub, manicure, pedicure, all the works! I'm here with my friend Jess and we stayed in Life Is Good Hostel in Getsemani. It was a chilled but enjoyable few days in the city!

FAQ's
How do you afford to travel? - I now earn a full time living through creating these UA-cam videos, affiliate links, selling digital products and my clothing line. I used to simply just work any temporary job I could find to save up to travel! I budget the money I earn meticulously to reach my savings goals using www.backpackin...
Is travelling solo safe? - I would argue the answer is almost always yes! As long as you use your common sense and you follow your own government's guidelines about travelling in that country. I have made several videos on backpacking safety on my channel.
Do you have plans to settle down? Yes, I'm currently saving to purchase my first property in the UK and I'd love to have children one day. I doubt I'll ever live a completely 'conventional' lifestyle by society's standards though, as I often have my own preferred way of doing things.

I used your Colombia series to help me prepare for my own trip to Colombia. This was my first time leaving the US and I’m so thankful I came across your videos to ease most of the anxieties I was having. I’m leaving from Medellín in the morning and also ended up staying at Los Patitos!
This trip has been so beautiful for many different reason!
You looked sooooo different - in the best way of course! I even had to check whether I clicked on the wrong video because it still amazes me how hair can change how someone looks tremendously
Loved your straight hair! I set off to Colombia in 3 weeks ahhh, your videos have been so helpful x
Thanks! I’m so glad 🥰
Loved the breezy feel of this video! I visited Colombia several years ago and found the people welcoming and beautiful, and so concerned that we had a good touristic experience. Bogota and the Andes were beautiful but I want to see Cartagena!! Did you feel safe? Was it oppressively warm? Panama City certainly was!
I deffo felt safe! Sticking to basic travel safety of course ☺️ and nah I didn’t find it oppressively warm but I think I have quite a high tolerance for it haha
@@BackpackingBananas you are so sweet to reply! Looking forward to Panama!
Welcome back Jess. Cristianne your hair cut is definitely Colombian girl style 😂. Bring on the salsa dance . I'm so happy to see you back in Colombia it's still on my list to travel there before the Philippines.
Loved watching this before my 2-week trip to Cartagena and was rewatching to see what I missed, and OMG, I ended up in the exact same room at Life Is Good!
It was my private sanctuary to nurse my suburn after a few days at Casa en el Agua (so much fun, but a very social and sun-soaked time!). Great recs from you as always.
For anyone reading, I also spent a few days at Viajero hostel which is right near Uraku spa, it's a prime location in the historical center and a fun clean hostel with a nice bar/pool area. A few other food recs: Al Alma, Abaco Libros y Cafe, Cafe Del Mural, La Cocina de Pepina, Beiyu, Buena Vida, and if you wanna go really fancy, I had the best 10-course meal of my life at Restaurante 1621!
This girls' trip has such a wholesome vibe! And Cartagena looks beautiful, I had to star it in my google maps haha 😄
We love a girls trip 😍
Don't question her technique. Your hair looks amazing. You would have to pay hundreds here in the USA for what you got. :)
Thanks for the vid. I cringed when seeing you talking with food in your mouth. I am sure you will improve.
You really need to have a group backpacking in Columbia !!! 😫
Wonderful video as always 😊 Colombia looks fantastic 👍🏻
Colombia is always a good idea 😎😎
1st time I've sen you wiylth make up I think anyway in 3 years you look lfilab hairs beautiful you stay safe n that care
Hi Christianne. I have been following your travel vlogs for a while and have thoroughly enjoyed watching your adventures. I love how you share your personal experiences and stories, but I was wondering if you could also include some more factoids about the places you visit in your vlogs. As someone who is not familiar with the location, it would be great to have some basic context and facts about the place, as well as a local perspective. This will give your followers a more well-rounded understanding of the area and can help them plan their own trips.
I know a lot of work goes into creating vlogs and I really appreciate the time and effort you put into it. Keep up the great work!
What insurance did you use for South America?
Hey - could I check which vaccines you got for travelling to South America? Yellow fever and rabies? Any others? 😊
I didn’t get any specifically that I wasn’t already covered for.
Really enjoyed this video. Feels like you were vacationing.
Ps. The way you hold the fork will never stop to amaze me 😂
Hahaha I didn’t realise I held forks in an odd way 😂😂
Yeah, Cartagena looked like a blast! What a great place to just relax and take in the surroundings. I thought your hair looked good btw. Keep the vlogs coming!
Locals pay for manicure and pedicure 30,000 Colombian pesos . Sorry for yours 70, 000.
I think it depends on the salon you go into, this one is in a prime location so obviously going to be more expensive 😊
hope you're having a lovely time! Love your videos, been watching as a way to build up some confidence as I'll be doing some solo travelling in a couple of months! ❤
Wooow! This hair looks amazing on you!
So cool to see you walking around in Cartagena! I was there a few days ago and it feels so weird haha :)
The straight hair looks really good!
In your last trip to Cartagena you said your trip there wasn't worth filming. I liked you had a change of heart this time - also that hairstyle reeeally suits you. You look very pretty.
I wanted to find a cafe just like that when I was in Cartagena cos people watching is lovely but street vendors are relentless there. Just pinned it for the next time I go.
Right?! It was a real golden find!
Helloooo could you give me some advice about travel insurance for south america?? You are my inspiration as a female traveller !!
Safety Wing, World Nomads and Post Office are all great ones to look into! ☺️
Great video share my friends 👍👍
Nice share big drive in 😎✅🙏✅☝️
Looks like your friend never changes her clothes, crusty i fear.
I also never change my clothes, it’s called backpacking dahling xxx
I just got back from Cartagena so it was fun to watch this! I only read TripAdvisor reviews for abroad and Yelp for the USA. I never read google reviews.
11:00 uncle was looking for ur attention 😂
Definitely loving the straight hair!! ❤
I used Google reviews/maps to pretty much plan my whole trip to Thailand back in October.
I like your straight hair
Great vlog wonderful Christie!!! 💖 Looks like you and the lovely Jess had an amazing time!!!
Welp. I might have to take myself to Cartagena! Great video, thank you!
U got a shout out from Patty Doyle on his last vid.👍
Aww love Paddy!
The straight hair is WORKIN'!!! It looks really nice.
🍌
Enjoy Central America! I hoping to go this summer!!
Haven't watched the video yet. Just wanted to say, that you're such an inspiration!
You looked so different at first 👍 the straight hair suited you. We loved Cartagena when we visited from a cruse ship a few years ago now. Would love to go back to Columbia one day. Did I miss the salsa dancing 🤣 looking forward to seeing more of this series, yes I feel your hay fever pain 😂
I ❤️ drawings on the wall hair looks very nice. 🇨🇴
I wonder if open table works outside of the US?
You look like a local columbian in that straightened hair 😊
very good but speak too much
Very good comment but incorrect English.
Nice vlog! Looking forward to more
Oh my gosh I logged onto UA-cam to look at this exact route. 🎉
Awesome video Christianne😊👍👍
Hola from Coffee Tree hostel in Salento :)
I thought you would say you wanted to go back to Colombia for your Colombian boyfriend(s).
Wouldn’t have been surprising if I did say that 😂 but no, not this time
First!! No puedo esperar ver la cruz
To me the barber woman did a fabolous job
Love your vlogs girl! So inspiring! Hair is gorg btw!
I mostly rely on Google reviews...however I once went to a dentist that was 5 stars and it turns out they give you a big discount for your next visit if you give them 5 stars
I hate when businesses use giving reviews as bait 🥲
Cartagena looks lovely. 👍😊
Two of the hottest travel vloggers 😍
Great video Christianne 😊
Love the hair.
Would love to travel to South America somewhere, hit it feels a bit scary for some reason, I don't speak any Spanish so it would be it, what's a good country to start off with?
I reckon Peru - it is arguably the most touristy so a lot of local speakers can understand some English. Though I would definitely recommend learning a bit of Spanish before travelling!
@@BackpackingBananas thank you, think I read that somewhere else too that Peru is a good start, I put it on my list.
really chill video, we love to see it.
New here and loving your vids! Any chance you could move the currency conversion thing up? I am from AU and the AUD is always covered by the subscribe button.
Sorry to be 'that person' haha
I’ll have a chat with the editor 😉 maybe we can move it to the left
Cheers! @@BackpackingBananas
Beautiful place.
Who's that girllll? It's JESS!
😅😅
That haircut suits you.
Thanks ☺️
Glad you and Jess are up to no good together , fun , fun. Together you 2 are a perfect 4 - pack.
Nice little video, rocking the hair style at the start, awesome, nice to get pampered now and againg, tel your pal to put them away, lol
Hola mamacita. Que chevere Cartagena y Getsemani. Of course la Torre del reloj by night give the city a certain reputation but I like Colombianos (except for the taxi drivers). Are you going to Bocas del Toro?
Not on this trip 🥲
How is the mobbin in the hood
