Package Dealer (potential) math if it can draw cards off it's own effect: You take the odds of the previous chance and divide it by two. When you draw 1 card, you have a 50% chance to draw 2, a 25% chance to draw 3, a 12.5% chance to draw 4, a 6.25% chance to draw 5, a 3.125% chance to draw 6, a 1.5625% chance to draw 7, a 0.78125% chance to draw 8, a 0.390625% chance to draw 9, a 0.1953125% chance to draw 10, etc. This effect can trigger _whenever_ you draw cards, including the start of your turn and during your opponent's turn when effects that make you draw cards trigger, examples includes Loot Hoarder or Coldlight Oracle.
I honestly think this gives the card a not insignificant amount of potential that Regis didn’t really consider. Because if you have to draw six cards to maybe draw three that’s obviously bad. But if the card can trigger of itself you can easily turn a draw 2 into a draw 4 or 5 which is pretty efficient. I obviously don’t think the card is great but it might carve a niche for itself in decks that have good draw but not consistent draw.
What I was thinking of is getting even two copies in play at once, through reverb or something. Because then it's _extremely_ likely you'll draw until burning cards off each card drawn.
burnt cards aren't usually considered drawn, although with blizz spaghetti code you never know. I also don't think we have confirmation if it triggers off itself or not, but assuming it does that means, on average, it doubles the amount of cards you draw - it's just very swingy, as orges tend to be.
10:15 , thats actually not true i think, since it can draw off of itself, so the series converges at actually doubling the amount you draw. still not incredible but im willing to bet there is a mark mckenzie combo in there somewhere
This applies to a lot of Minions and can honestly be a boon sometimes, randomly getting something you can play around!even if it was never an intent for the deck is a wonderful feeling.
One thing to note about Package Dealer (from 11:00). The way the card is worded, the extra draw can itself proc an extra draw, and that draw could proc an extra draw etc. If you do the math, you actually get on average 1 extra card per card drawn, so you need to play a draw 3 (not a draw 6) to get (on average) a draw 3. Still think the card is bad but it's worth mentioning regardless :D
Hahaha I was about to comment that Mark will love the Octo-Masseuse! Very excited for the 1 pot 3 drop. You could play it with Shutterblock or other tricks like the Paladin legend for extra value.
I see a few really good ideas for that card in Shaman a definite must use in deck.Use after hagatha buffs with 2/3++ if waiting until after Shudder. There are a few other subtle ideas but one thing for certain if shaman ever gets a tier 1 deck it gets nerfed faster than any other class in the game which is why it is always at the bottom of the tier list.
I think the Octo is a good defensive card for the control decks that do nothing but wait until late game, they don't need to do direct damage at that time + it's tough for aggro decks to deal with.
I see a great place for Patches in Wave of Nostalgia Shaman, helps you just have a few extra stray bodies to evolve. Not a ton of early plays in Shaman anyway
Okay but can’t package dealer technically go infinite? It doesn’t specify that it won’t trigger off of its own effect. In theory it could draw 2+ extra cards off of one original card drawn, no?
Hmm question came up mentally at Package Dealer if you roll the 50% chance does it trigger off itself drawing a card as well since the effect mentions after but no limit on it
FYI package dealer basically doubles the amount of cards you draw. Obviously a lot of variance with that 50% chance to have no effect, but there's a 12.5% chance to get at least 3 extra cards, the ceiling is really high. Still difficult to play but definitely a must-kill target for your opponent next turn unless they don't care about your card draw. Card is gonna be really good in arena.
You know with mage getting both mage and paladin cards. There could be cast 1 mana spells. Like secrets and drinks. Like if your deck contains no spells that cost more than 5. The first 3 minions you play have divine shield. Or start of game equip 'mini spell quest' cast 5 one mana spells draw 4 minions and give them divine shield. If they have it already give reborn as well.
I've been messing with an odd dh in standard and have been getting decent results. All im saying is watch out, if patches I'd anything to indicate it'll probably get pretty spooky
Octo masseuse would be good would another keyword on it like taunt or right or attacks the minions next to it it also gets alot better with even a +1/+1 hand buff insane.
Mixologist probably goes hard in raza priest for the same reason kazakus went hard in, well, the other raza priest. Cheap spell to refresh hero power and get a good effect, and now it can be copied with Pip to double up on it if you really want some value
Is octo-masseuse a good card for paladin’s lifesteal aura??? It would have 2 attack after the buff and deal 16 damage to a minion and heal your hero for 16. Seems kinda intriguing. Still don’t know about the card seeing play but there might be a world
Package dealer is 50% to get another card, whenever you draw so it should stack on itself. Its a geometric series. On average, you would expect it to double your draw, not increase it by 50%. So if its out and you draw 4, you would expect it to draw another 4 (not 2). Not sure how much more viable that makes it, but it is more draw than you gave it credit for.
I wonder if these tourist cards will be allowed I wild? Becuade these cards will warp Wild so hard. Doubles the amount of cards each race can now use. Sounds a little crazy. Very curious! Anyone have any insite??
Doesn't Package Dealer have a teeny tiny chance to kill you when you draw a card, because you might get another draw off the another draw... and then another and another and another
I honestly think octo-masseuse has some potential in mech or beast decks. Maybe even menagerie decks that use hand buffing. Just because 8 health for 4 mana is a pretty good amount is stats. And any buff you give it’s attack is also octupled. So it already starts off as a chunky minion that trades very well and having the two minion types it does gives it access to lots of potential buffs. Imagine being able to give it life steal it letting it deal damage to minions without attacking or rush or diving shield. Both it’s types give it access to basically all of those buffs and more just in neutral.
As it currently stands, Patches the Pilot is a 3/5 card. Outside silly "Week 1-2 of the Expansion" type shenanigans, which will always feature several bad combos that steal wins, he's just too unreliable. Even if DH can draw a lot of cards, they currently can't really use 1/1 Charge minions for high burst damage, and you really want to draw towards something better. And while Shaman can use Bloodlust, that's only Standard available via Thrall's Gift which means 6 mana total and you'd need to get lucky to have multiple in play at the same time. All the combos people are pulling out in the comments are exactly those "Week 1-2 of the Expansion" type things that don't actually work out in the long run. Yes, he will steal games in the firsr couple of weeks, but the design is not something that breaks the game wide open for Shaman or DH. And I'll stand by that assessment until we have the full picture of the expansion. Which would include the Priest cards, as the DH Tourist goes there.
You know with mage getting both mage and paladin cards. There could be cast 1 mana spells. Like secrets and drinks. Like if your deck contains no spells that cost more than 5. I think it could actually be a monster in Priest in a control vs control matchup. Give it any buff and you have history's greatest taunt breaker. Top it up with heals every now and again and your opponent is forced to burn hard removal to stop you from realising infinite value on it. I'm not saying it for sure works out in any given meta, but it has way stronger use cases than you implied in the video.
You know with mage getting both mage and paladin cards. There could be cast 1 mana spells. Like secrets and drinks. Like if your deck contains no spells that cost more than 5. Does Package Dealer trigger off of its own draws? Because if so then it's a 25% chance to draw 2 extra cards when you draw a card, or a 12.5% chance to draw 3 extra, or a 6% chance to draw 4 extra, and so on, which overall works out to be one extra card per draw on average, but a chance for crazy high rolls. And if that's true it's probably still a bad card for most decks, but I could see some sort of wild self-mill OTK deck with it. If you had that on board and played gaslight gatekeeper with a full hand you might draw your whole deck.
Why doesn't Package Dealer have the Ogre tag to be summoned with the legendary that revives Ogres? Considering even the vanilla 6/7 Oger got added to his res pool
