BEST GRILLS EVER!! Mine’s a 85 Genesis with a side burner. I stumbled upon it about 8 years ago helping some people move. They didn’t have any money to pay me for helping so to make a long story short, they gave me the grill. Had to do some work on mine but it’s been the best grill I’ve ever had.
Nice, I wish had I seen your video before I moved this past Summer. About 8-9 years ago I fully restored my Weber “redhead” Genesis 1000. It was passed down from my Dad (the original purchaser) to me. I disassembled it, power washed it, sanded, painted and purchased all new Weber parts. Other than the firebox and frame I basically replaced everything spending a little over $500 on all original parts from multiple sources. Much of it I replaced including the burners and ignition system were original parts still working. I had only replaced the flavor bars, grates and thermometer once since I took over the grill in 1998. I believe my redhead was a 1991 model. The only thing I would have done differently would have been rather the stainless steel grates which looked fabulous I would have used the original to the grill ceramic porcelain grates. They worked and wore very well. I had only replaced them once before. I have pictures where it literally appeared brand new once I completed it. I did lose one trim piece to the underside of the grill to rust but it wasn’t that noticeable unless you knew it was missing. Unfortunately b/c I let it get a few years beyond where I should have before restoring it had some irreversible damage mainly in rust on steel frame and trim pieces. The firebox gave me issues with screws stuck in it and replacing parts like the burners and grease catch pan that attached with rails to the underside of the firebox. Eventually the brand new grease catch pan fell out a year or two ago. The screws of the catch pan’s rails needed to be retapped into the firebox. During this recent move I intended to build an outdoor kitchen which I latter changed plans on but I had decided after 30 years to let my old redhead go. I had a lot of parts including a couple extra sets of the frame for all the wood grates and actually found a neighbor throwing out a newer redhead which I grabbed hoping to maybe use the firebox from it. However during the move I decided I had too much to do and took it all to the street. It was a great grill with a lot of sentimental value but with plans to do an outdoor kitchen it wouldn’t have a place. Nor did I have the time for a while to give it attention had l have kept it l. I would have gladly donated everything to you. Wish I could post pictures here. Those grills were very well designed and cooked very well.
We have this grill and we love it! Ours is circa 1989. The burners are shot. To replace this grill is close to $1000. Your video convinced me to refurbish it rather than buy new. Thanks for sharing. And that chicken does look good:-)
Contact Weber either by email or phone and go with authentic Weber parts! You'll have to wait for a LONG time on hold but it's worth it! 1-800-446-1071
just moved to a new place and the owner left me the same grill you got lol im defiantly gonna restore it too!!!! I already have a smoker so gonna have this as a keeper
Great Video! I have the same grill. Weber 1100 lp. Bought it at Home Depot in 1999. She has been garage kept since new and still has the original burners. I put in the stainless flavorizer bars and stainless grates maybe 10 years ago and am going to get the new burners, GrillGrates and a few other parts this Spring. I'll let you know how it goes!
I hated getting rid of this one when we hit the road fulltime but was too big to carry and ultimately i set out to restore use and make my money back or more. All was accomplished so I can’t complain
Great job. I like the wooden work space. I'm just finishing up a resto of a just slightly newer model. Same grill and frame. FYI, Weber customer service will send you the burner guide screws for free. I called them yesterday and told them the problem I had with deteriorated guide screws. Even though I'm not the original owner, which I explained, they said "no problem" and could't wait to help me . Weber has some fantastic customer service.
I have a 1992 Genesis Silver C which got from a vender as a display. I have had it ever since and have fully rebuilt it once. I keep back up parts in my shop just in case. The main thing to remember is to keep it covered from the weather when your not using it. You can find things on Ebay and Amazon, but I noticed they have after market parts. I would retap those screws that hold down those burners. we use our Silver C almost every night on the patio. Great job on yours happy grilling!👍🏻
excellent find Sir! you've definitely got a great grill! I picked one up for free and it gets so hot it'll turn the red porcelain black lol. does the best steaks I've ever had. i like your side table i'm thinking I need to replace mine. I called Weber and registered the serial number with them, they said they could sell me a new grill but I wouldn't be as happy with a new one haha. mine comes up as a weber 900 sold at Home Depot in early 90's
I made that little side table out of pallet board and it's great. I had to sell the grill because we moved into a camper. I got my money back and then some, score!! I will say I always thought of Weber as a bougee high priced grill for no reason. I must say I am now a forever fan of Weber's
I have an original with I think original parts. The only problem is I have this crazy gas hose with a port that needs an attachment to hook to a propane tank . Anyone know how to take off this hose? I have a 80 dollar newer hose model coming from Weber( crazy expensive), but want to make sure it's correct and I do not see a way to take this hose off. If I wrench it off, do ai need to reglue the new one? Or is there just a simple attachment I can purchase that is cheaper and simpler? My current attachment screws into the port of the propane tank and is crazy to get out and has damaged it.
i do not see a tag for serial numbers/model number how would i really know what it is, looks like yours but mine has the tables? where part you from in SC?
Depends on the model. I have a 1999 model and have the same double level flavorizer bars. I need new ones but plan on waiting till next year. I have cast iron grates that are rusty. $99 to replace them! Did some research and no I am not planning on soaking them in lye! I bought EVAPO-RUST to use on them as its non-toxic and totally safe to use on cast iron pans and whatever is left after soaking the grates can be poured back in the container to be used again! Just got the evapo-rust yesterday. My wooden side table will get repainted and I plan on getting the high heat resistant paint for the aluminium sides of the cover. It'll be good to go for another 20+ years!!
Sir William Goes your flavor bars are supposed to cover the burner tubes so grease won’t get on them you have them on vertical they should be on Horizontally
@@MrGonzo4000 there are 2rows the bottom row runs horizontal and top runs vertical I thought they only went on one way, but now you got me second guessing

I’m just resorting my with new flavor bars and grill top it’s 20 years old first time I’ve done anything to it great grills .
I just picked one up , but a 2 burner, not three. Could I still use the set you bought. Make it work?
I'm not sure
Mine is just like this, but only two burners. Mid 1980s. Wish I had one more burner. How deep are your grill grates? Mine are 15 inches.
I'm not sure I haven't measured
The best part of this video is the Natie lite. 👍
You are thoroughly enjoyable. Love your enthusiasm!!!! Thx
Thanks for watching!!
How do I remove the grease
Simple green degreaser and elbow greese
@@SirWilliamGoes - thx - just ordered some yesterday from Amazon. Thank you.
Where did you get the burners and flavor bars from ?
The links in the description
what kind of wood? what kind of varnish?
Pallet wood spray can poly
I forgot to suggest get some grill grates that cover the entire top. You won’t go wrong!

You have 13 flavor bars on there ??

I think the newer ones only have one row. Two makes a difference.
Have a genesis grill, purchased 1988, hole in middle tube. Time to purchase a new one.😢😢😢
Easy fix
I inherited my dads red top Weber last summer. I think his is from the late eighties. Not sure. Weber's are the only grills for me. Smokers are 👍👍👍😎
I agree. I just cant bring myself to pay that kind of money for the little round one. Maybe Ill find one on craigslist
i do not see a tag for serial numbers/model number how would i really know what it is, looks like yours but mine has the tables? where part you from in SC?
Chuck Claytor I'm in Columbia. I don't know that the packed them with numbers anywhere

Damn that chicken looks GOOOOOD!
The grill should just have 5 flavor bars going horizontally
there's a spot for 13, weber sells a set of 13, and it came with 13 so not sure ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Mine has 5 horizontal and 8 verticle bars. Just bought new ones at Amazon.
Mine lasted 22 years.
Ok my bad you have 2 rows of flavor bars
The bottom row is right
You flavor bars are going the wrong way
What you mean??
Sir William Goes your flavor bars are supposed to cover the burner tubes so grease won’t get on them you have them on vertical they should be on Horizontally
Sir William Goes look at your video you can see the flames all the fat and grease is going right on the flames let me know if you read this message
