So many people see John summit and hate him so much just because “how fast” He blew up. This is nothing but people judging at face value. You look at a video like this and see how hard working and talented Summit is
@@codyaaron3371yeah I’ve had someone hate him for being too frat and lucky but they do not know how hard this dude grinded for this and it’s paying off..
Hearing his story was what got me into producing my own music last year. It is fucking hard as shit, just to make one decent song is really tough. He deserves everything that he’s gotten so far in his career
Deep end put him on the map, Human solidified a progressive house feel and Where Are you now put him in the stratosphere. Griz remix of where are you now is 🤌
@@MORRILL_MUSIC I doubt it. John has actually been producing tech house for a fairly long time so he can produce. Now his sound now? The one that shot him to the moon? Collaboration happens at the top. So you have to expect it. Where you are should have won a Grammy. Honestly. If John did do all the arrangement, sound design, mix, master on that and Shiver then he's a fucking goat. But again, collaboration happens at the top. Those two songs are probably the most listenable house songs where all of the frequencies of each instrument/note are hitting your ear perfectly throughout the whole audible spectrum.
I'm 48 been listening to House since 87 as a 12 year old. Moved to Vegas in 95. To this day there is no GOOD House music here in Vegas. The fact that a Chi town kid blew up from working diligently on his craft and collabing back and forth with other artists. Then a fellow Chi town Dj helping a guy out to represent Chicago House warms my heart. I think it's well deserved as long as he keeps up the good work I'm ok with his fast track rise. Gimmie some mo House!
The main thing we can take from this as upcoming music producers is to keep a social circle of other musicians that you can share new skills & feedback with
Love these videos! As a producer trying to make it, it is so cool to see an in depth current background on each artist. Appreciate you so much. Excited for more to come!
I remember seeing him at ezoo 2022 playing an afternoon set and then by the next year he was headlining. His progression is insane but so well deserved!
I literally started to follow John since 2020 and he has been my biggest inspiration so far. This year I started also producing and totally love the process. Sometimes when I feel down I just look at John and suddenly gives me the motivation back. Thanks for the vid sir, great work and keep it up 🔐
Great video! I saw John Summit at EDC for his b2b set with Green Velvet and it was my favorite of the weekend! Between the music, the sunrise and the atmosphere.. it was so so fun and moving. It ended EDC on a high note.
I remember finding him in 2020 and he's been my most streamed artist since. It's WILD to see how fast he blew up. While I miss his music from 2021-2022, I'm so proud of him
Love to see someone a passion come to life. Amazing to see all the growth. Makes you appreciate more. Those who complain about it. Will always find something to complain about somewhere else. It has to do with themselves. Not the artist.
Discovered him in 2020 with "Deep End" randomly. Then he did a remix for Gorgon City's "You've Done Enough." That's when I knew he was going to be big,
Thank you for this! I've been hooked since "Make Me Feel" released and he was playing a small show in my state, but I couldn't attend. Played his tunes at home anyway and now he's on top! Extremely similar path I took from college down to the Guitar Center sets, but had to focus on my career instead. Really glad it worked out for him! Others that could make a video that rose up during these years are Ray Volpe, Knock2, ISOxo, and i_o to name a few! RIP to i_o it was an honor to meet him before he left us 🏴
Great Video! I'll never understand the hate Summit gets. I've seen multiple shows including Red Rocks & Caverns Weekend, dude just puts on an amazing show and I'd argue his day 2 set at the Caverns in 2024 is the best set I've ever seen.
So glad this channel got tossed into my algo with the history of X. Not a lot of content like this out there, filling a good void in the YT space. Keep it up these videos are all so good.
John was a family friend of my cousins. They both went to Neuqua which is where I currently go and I’ve heard stories about it. I was into John’s music before I even knew I went to the same highschool.
I’ve recently gotten into raving this last year and a half and it reminded me why I loved EDM as a teen so much and John Summit has truly inspired me to take a shot at it. His music is always my most played and his recent releases are just getting better and better. His new unreleased track he debuted at Coachella with SubFocus is insanely moving. Experiencing it in person week one Coachella was the highlight of any rave/festival I’ve had thus far. He’s truly a great DJ and you can tell he loves his work and doesn’t settle for less.
I may have gotten facts wrong in the past, but this ones legit. My cousin used to work and hang out with john. Got pics to back it up. I didnt believe him when he first told me hahaha
I respect his insane hustle and hope he doesn't burn out too hard. Only happy for a guys success in an industry that's hard to break out in. People want to hate just because they feel like their personal preferences don't align to his meteoric success.
At first I thought this was narrated by John himself 😂😂 Tbh I can’t help but love him. It brings me so much joy to hear that his love started with deadmau5 and kaskade because the first time I saw him live he was opening for deadmau5 and kaskade and he absolutely killed it 🥲 He seems like a good dude and I am happy to see him succeed.
i totally remember that moment in 2021 on my birthday in June where he had a baby Daytrip gig when it used to be in the backyard of the Academy in LA. I was almost going to go to that, my friends went. Perhaps that was his first real gig with Insomniac? Next thing you know i attended Day Trip Festival in July 2021 and saw he was spinning on the big stage in the daytime hours. Thats when I was like "whooo is this guy and why am i seeing his name pop up everywhere all of a sudden?" lol
I'm doing Excision next, but I'm down to do a video for them at some point! Ceeds has a really good video about Knock2 and it talks a little bit about isoxo too if you want to check that out
I saw him open up for Carl Cox’s hybrid live set and… I mean, he was completely overshadowed by Carl lol. However, even tho I was not impressed by John Summit at all, I’m very happy to see these type of stories and the background to the artistic performance. All the best to him
Like a lot of these artists, right place at the right time. Had the talent and the right people recognized him (Treasure Fingers, Lee Foss) with support on his records. How many other John Summits are out there that aren’t noticed or never got noticed and their time ran up. Happens every year in the music industry.
This might be the most inspiring retrospective you’ve done. I had no idea John summit had to grind so hard

Very true!
The GRiZ remix smacks 😤
Griz remix is actually ELITE
I have a theory GRIZ helped him produce or ghost wrote some parts of his songs.

RL grime is another legend that has done work under multiple aliases. That’d make a banger video. Great work, sir!
Omg would love to learn more about RL grime!!!
RL Grime is OG literally one of the inventors of trap music. But on a huge comeback with his Knock2 duo project.
