i remember making this dude's album art back in 2012 haha ua-cam.com/video/kSW0ig5Rz5Q/v-deo.html
Haha that's so sick
dayummm thts awesome!
wow not expecting dylan here,
CHAD!!! We thank you for your services!
the good old days :)
i am a hugeeeee subtronics fan and one thing not mentioned is that jesse was doing his headline tours with tour buses in 2018 and 2019 and selling out every single date !!!! i saw him on both of them. he was already blowing up then griztronics really made him more known outside of dubstep. great video love to see it 🫡🫡
Yeah I guess I didn't really go into detail of how much traction he had back then, he was really popular within the dubstep community, but where he's at now is definitely on a whole other level
Our school band instructor threw drum sticks at Jesse because he couldn't stop banging so hard on the drums lmfao, what a legend Jesse
It’s insane how far Jesse has gone and how successful he is. One of the most humble human beings ever. So proud of him and will forever support him and can’t see what he has in stock for the next years ahead
Small channels carrying UA-cam rn. Great editing, great niche. Amazing context on subtronics, keep it up my friend!
its true they really are
He’s such a humble cool guy. Had such a good time meeting him in person.
I played bass in the Paul Green SOR in Philly... THATS why Jesse looked so familiar when I saw him again 10+ years later
Oh no way that's wild!
I discovered Dubstep/EDM when I was younger with artists like Deadmua5, Flux Pavilion, and VR and I was hooked. I then took a break/had a disconnect from the genre entirely. Jesse literally brought back my love for it when I found his music back in 2019. He’s been my goat! I’ve seen him twice since and on anti fractal tour I got to see him and VR same night. It was truly incredible and I gotta thank him for it one day. 💪🏽
Just curious, when you took a break from Edm what did you start listening to instead?
Cheers!
in a couple years this comment will hit different :)
I'll be on the lookout!
Aye I just got it
FAX
Big facts
“Oooooooh” me in a couple years proly
I’ve been to so many edm shows and I have to say subtronics brings out the best people. He’s so genuine and the energy is amazing every time I’ve seen him 🙏🙌
Now that’s what I called riddim is how I found him in 2017 through a friend of mine. Crazy to think when I saw him at lost lands 2018 he was the open for the main stage day one. Now he’s a headliner. That 2018 LL made it clear he was gonna blow up soon when all of lost lands were at his set. Most packed opening set for a festival I have ever seen
Yep same for me, one of my friends sent me now that's what I call riddim vol 2 back then
Also the video of him coming out on stage at that 2018 LL set is insane, the crowd was going nuts
2018 was my first LL, I had never heard of Subtronics. We made some buddy’s day three who told us “Subtronics is this up and coming Riddim artist, we need to catch him.” When I tell you that set was life changing. I truly felt that was one of the pivotal moment in his career.
Dude I love skateboarding, Rubik's cubes, pen spinning, finger boarding, drums, piano, and making bass music! Subtronics is my spirit animal!!
Seeing subtronics in 2018 on ganjas tour was life changing! I had no idea what I was getting into!
love ur videos im so hype u uploaded a subtronics one finally!! 🙏
Awesome docu! 👏 I would have totally thrown in the Lollapalooza gig too, good stuff ;)
Huge fan since 2016. It’s been awesome to see his growth over time. Can’t wait for the future
I love Jesse, I saw him for the first time in 2019 at Big Dub, (BIG DUUUUUUUUUUUUUB!!!) I have absolutely loved every bit of his progress and can't wait for him to blow my mind again and again in the future.
Big DUB!!!
@@angelheart678 happy to find a fellow mountain lover in these comments ❤️
Love subtronics from 2017, he always made unique riddim even from the beginning, so yah he is one of those artists that deserves way more then just blowing up. He deserves all the love for his music
What’s underrated here is your channel.
Thank you! 🙏
Man this made me cry, you fucking made it Jesse & us fans are so proud of you! Subtronics Forever!
Im in my room, every day for the last 4 days grinding it out on my ddj200 trying to learn how to DJ and while im doing this i keep getting recommended your videos. This feels like a mfn sign. Please keep uploading dude, youre inspiring me so crazy. Id like to request Nia Archives or a prominent Jungle dj pls. Ive been a fan of jungle since 13 and the kid in me is on fire at the thought of me having a slice of jungle history for myself. Shes been inspiring me heavily as of late, even at age 31
This is a fascinating story! As a newcomer to the EDM scene, I too recently discovered Subtronics and really enjoy the music he puts out there.
My first time seeing anything Subtronics was is Deb at lost lands 2017-19 ish I was hooked on him for over 8 years at this point he’s a genius for mixing riddim and bassy wobs I will keep that memory alive.
They missed the part where Jess hanged out with me every night after college for all my years of school. Was my favourite memories with Jesse when he was young and chillin at home making music every night
Never heard of johntronics and I’m huge on both of them. Obsessed with subjohnics
My thoughts exactly…
Deadly
Subtronics has been calling them Johntronics on his more recent social media posts, but he has used subjohnics before too
Id love to see one of these about Boogie T
I'm surprised and honoured that Subtronics is still using the same logo I made for him over 10 years ago!
Awesome vid as always, man! Love me some Subtronics 🔥
Your videos are underrated asffffff keep it going man, please!
One thing I will say about Jesse is he is a sound design master
you are filling a great void in EDM content creation we didnt know we needed
🙏
I stumbled literally into the EF set in 2019 and have been hooked since
Wow I was able to help set up his show at downtown las Vegas events center & at the joint with ganja white night. Dope seeing him reach these levels
We just got a tweet saying I bet they don't shout out Prime Audio, we got called the "smaller label" would have been cool to be mentioned, I mean we've been around before disciple & NSD, S/O Jesse he's still humble & shouts us out. This was a good watch though, well put together! ✌️
I didn't mean any disrespect, I didn't mention Blacklight Audio, Chronos Records, or Riot Audio either (as well as others). In one of the interviews shown in the video, Jesse says "I had done an EP with Prime Audio which is how I got the local slots, but after doing an EP with the more established labels I started to get bottom tier festival slots and bottom tier support slots on some legitimate shows" so that's what I was going off of when writing the script.
Truthfully I'm not the best about being aware of the significance/history of various labels, so I was just going off of my research on Subtronics and what he has said in past interviews, I didn't mean to downplay the role you played in his come up. The only reason I mentioned the few labels that I did is because Jesse specifically mentions in multiple interviews that releasing on those labels was a big turning point for his career.
I do my best to tell the full story in these videos, but it's inevitable that I will make mistakes and misrepresent things from time to time. I appreciate you watching though, glad you enjoyed it even though you didn't get a mention.
@@audioeats Honestly it's all good, you did well, keep up the good work! 👊
Will do!
I'll make sure to check out prime audio
@@kauzzofficial 👊🏼👊🏼
Feels like watching a video by sb with half a million subscribers at least! Those low subscription numbers are criminal! Keep up the good work and those will grow a lot
I appreciate it!
So wild having to go to rehab for for weed and AA
Hope subtronics see this and appreciate your hard work
You forgot the sullivan king remix he did which got him his first lost lands set, then thats where he really blew up. Def a couple years before griztronics
THAT’S WHAT I’M SAYING!!!
How could you not mention that collab and no mention of lost lands what so ever!! He played there every single year since the start and closed out 2022! Bruhhhh
This is some cool shit. I remember meeting him at webster hall at that trollface show and he was so young. I dont remember much of our conversation but im happy as hell for him and all his success.
awesome coverage - super inspiring!
It's wild to know that this man wasn't Scranton and I was in Binghamton...
Your videos are so so good dude.
Thank you!
Big up Subtronics hopefully one day we can get high make something sick together :)
I discovered him between 2017-2018
I heard about this guy waaayyy before i heard about him
Can’t stand his music but he definitely seems like a genuine good guy and I’m happy to have more ppl like him in a somewhat toxic industry like this. Great video as always my guy :)
Yeah it's definitely not for everybody haha
0:32 KENDAMA! Love you Jesse!
grateful for subtronics
Skream, Caspa and Rusko are King's of Dubstep. This guy can only be the king of modern version of Dubstep and that's Riddim.
Let him cook 🔥🔥🔥👏🏽👏🏽
FREAKING Genius HAHAHA!
Got the guy to book him! LOL
Oooo a 30 minute video essay about Subtronics???? Easiest click ever
Subtronics is amazing, I seen him twice. Way before he became big and recently, but I wouldn’t give him the king tittle with respect. I would give that tittle to eXcision.
I didn't mean that too seriously, it's kinda just a clickbaity title. Subtronics is definitely the hottest dubstep artist at the moment though, his anti fractals tour last year was the 75th highest grossing tour in the world, which is pretty insane for an electronic artist. But yeah Excision is definitely more of an OG in the American dubstep scene no doubt.
this is a great video!
thats so wild about the rehab stuff, homie just enjoys weed its not like he's shooting up or anything.
Subtronics knows how to throw tf down!
Heck yeah
I remember seeing him in an old pink guy music video
Hold up what?!? Subtronics was???
@@audioeats He was in one of the final uploads on the channel
Gonna check it out
Rip Limewire
What a fun video
Please the name of the song at 8:54-9:26!
Speed Dial - Candy Waifu ?
It's a demo loop from splice
Do you have a video for excision?
Not yet, but the second next video will be about him
😂 why the shade at the end of the video?
Sarcasm lol
He’s actually insane at poi I always forgot how insane he is lol
It’s crazy I remember being a lowkey hater when griztronics came out bc it was so popular and then I gave him another shot during like Nowthatswhaticallriddim vol 5 era and then the rest is history
To add to the lore, I remember being at okee 2020, all of the chicks in my group were SUPER upset that Allison wonderland canceled and remember seeing “subtronics will be replacing AW” and I ain’t never smirked so hard in my life . Best fest ever. Dropped his collab with marshmallow for the first time and sheesus. Love that man. Fast forward to now it is a little upsetting that the crows he brings in are super rude but I still gotta give him his props, it’s what happens when you hit mainstream and he’s earned it
what was the second to last song that played
It's a demo loop from splice, it's not a full song
Wait he married October 2023...was that why Subtronics and LevelUp weren't able to be at Rampage ADE last year
Haha maybe so, I'm not sure
AA for 7/8 years? For weed? Like just weed?? Jeeze
Wish my dad was a booking agent... these folks don't come from no where.
Subtronics has been around for a long time. He has been producing tracks from years. Is not like John Summit who payed his way in with daddy’s money.
i wouldn't say king of dubstep but definitely King of Wooks
Not the King but in 5-10 years he very well could be in the conversation
Subtronics - textbook 'tism
@subtronics can you barspin a pogostick
I feel bad for the guy having to spend years in fucking rehab for weed.
Do wooli
Also huge shoutout to Matt sweets for the interview @sweetskendamas
people like subtronics are what we need in dubstep. as someone who is a music producer myself (been at it for 4 years), subtronics encapsulates the feel good energy that i get from his music. i can tell he loves what he does, he's true to his craft, and that he loves music -- especially with him making a record label to showcase underground talent (i was super surprised to see ppl like sharploud, junki, and vanfleet on there)
subtronics definitely left his mark and will continue to do so, nothing but respect for him
Great video! I was part of his Anti-Fractal tour in 2023 and I have to say, the team he’s built around himself are excellent human beings! Reminds me of the saying “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go with others.”
Yeah I've heard a lot of people speak very highly of him and his team, it's cool that you got to be a part of that!
Sad I missed seeing you on that tour! I saw him in Little Rock and Nashville last year.
Brain rot
The coolest thing I think about Subtronics is his musical style. He likes to try new things in electronic music and diversify his sound. He’s unafraid of playing unreleased music. Most of his set is original music.
He loves testing unfinished track ideas with the crowd first before he releases them as a finished song. He’s super innovative in his sets, and my favorite, he’s musical and understands current mainstream trends.
I was out of town but I had 2 of my close friends in attendance at the tesseract tour in Minneapolis night 1. They FaceTimed me when Subtronics opened and I genuinely have never been the same since. I have been obsessed with his craft and his sound since that night.
Also genuinely one of the most caring people in the dubstep scene. Always supports the underground and puts good art on the map regardless of artist size or notoriety.
@@yikes710 buddy is clueless
@@yikes710can you elaborate bc im curious. I just think his sets suck
yo muerte!
Still dislike his music but I love him as a person and for what he does.
how could you dislike his musiccc...alr lemme give you some of his best works which will make him likeable: puzzlebox, spacetime (normal and vip), gassed up, funcked, cottage gore, amnesia, black ice, mind pluck, take flight vip, escape remix BLA BLA BLA
@@hoveruler8722some of his stuff is good but it’s just nothing too special imo, still a great producer and shit but the way it’s just a regular heavy dubstep drop isn’t really all that special
@@hoveruler8722some ppl just don’t like some thing and that’s ok.
@@Psilomyde yeah but these are exceptions
@@hoveruler8722 Not really. There’s lots of ppl that aren’t fans of his music. Just look at the comments on this video or look through electronic music subreddits or music production subreddits. There’s a lot of ppl who are fans and a lot who aren’t and neither side or correct or incorrect. Everyone is entitled to respectfully hold an opinion.
Been a fan of Subtronics since 2016...it's been amazing watching his sound design grow and change
love Subtronics but until excision retires he aint the king
I’ve always loved watching documentaries about bands coming up or singers, rappers, genres of music, etc. so its super dope to see this on the dance music side! Thanks for all the time you put into this; sharing these stories are always so inspiring!
Thanks for watching, I've got a bunch of videos about other artists if you want to check them out!
Skrillex is not tearout dubstep
My favorite part about DJs and Music Producers is the BTS on how the began and how the got to succussed. I got to see Subtronics live in Cyclops Dome at Tacoma Dome in Tacoma Washington State, but its always crazy and interesting to see how they where built from the ground up. This is what I inspire from as a Music Producer.
Thanks for this! Amazing work on the editing overall brotha 😎
June 2021 he also played b2b Slander aka Slandertronics at forbidden kingdom. That was my first Subtronics AND Slander experience and it was quite the intro to them both. Saw him at his fractals tour later in February 2022. Cool to see how his growth has just gone up exponentially from local dive bars while juggling college and multiple jobs to selling out arenas.
Love it 🫡🫡
Thanks!
Level 9 turtle
now that's what I call riddim vol 5 was my most played track for not 1 year, but 2. Easily my favorite mix of all time
i’ve been a huge subtronics fan since i found him in 2018 and i’ve watched him slowly climb festival lineups all the way to the top. i’ll never forget when i realized he was headlining one of the festivals i was going to a couple years and i was SHOOK. i’ve never been more proud of an artist or just a persons growth in general. next month, i’ll see him play kinetic field at EDC which is a HUGE accomplishment, engraining his name in the overall electronic scene forever. from the small stages ive seen him at, to edc main stage, his growth is truly inspiring. i will 1000% be crying 😭
i love subtronics lore, so inspiring
ive been following his music since he dropped firedrill, and damn its been a journey. i dont ever follow anyone and just go with whatever is cool for me at a specfic time, but for subtronics i couldnt help but be a fan of.
Skrillex brought dubstep to mainstream
Subtronics brought riddim to mainstream
“All that just to become an overrated dubstep dj” 😂😂😂
I honestly can’t wait till my discography is on this channel mark my comment.
We can do it bro
there is no king of dubstep, u guys need to stop doing those stupid tier list
Subtronics is not the king of dubstep… excision is… stop spreading false info
Subtronics is on the rise, but he is not on top…
copy and pasting from another comment! cant they both exist? why is it always this argument in dubstep. no one does this with house or techno lmao. two dudes crushing it and they can both be kings
My first time seeing subtronics was at a free show.
dawg change the title😂
