One of the best DIY video I've come across. Producers and film directors must be built differently. They have some kinda empathy for what their viewers see, sittin' in their seat so to speak, while most clips are made to impress the maker... moan. You see details, but it's a wee bit more than that too, must be based on feeling the pain of disconnecting a Ford harness... etc etc Pass it on, mister, yer grrrreat.
About 4 years ago I rented a 2020 ford transit van to pick up a Toyota land cruiser in Vegas, from idaho bought a trailer hitch and installed it on the rental van hooked up the trailer lights and nothing happened looked on Google About why they didn't have power at the harness under the van and found out you have to take it to the ford dealer and they hook a computer to the vehicle to turn power on!! Well fuck that 175.00 charge being a mechanic all you need to do is remove both right and left taillights find the power for the turn signals and brake lights, running lights and use a blue pinch connector on them ,run the wires through a hole that is on each side below the taillights and hook up the temporary connector going to the trailer lights. Who said you can't use a rental for towing ?? And when your done just remove the tow hitch and remove the connector to the wires, never happened and you saved a ton of money on the rental 😊
I’m not sure about a 2022 Ford transit. But on my 2018 Ford transit I did not have to program it to get basic for pin trailer lights. You do have to program it if you the seven pin with brake control
My van came with a hitch and wires that go up to the driver's seat. I added a harness and a component shown in the video to make the basic 4-pin trailer lights work. To activate the running lights, you'll need to install another component below the cup holder. Once that's done, the 7-pin trailer connection will function, allowing both running lights and trailer brakes to work. I'll make a video of installing the additional part for the 7-pin connection in the future, but for now, the 4-pin setup is enough for my light-duty trailer needs.

Thank you so much for the comments. I appreciate you noticing the details.
Excellent video! I had no trailer lights, ended up that the TBC cable connector was not connected to the trailer socket connector.
Thank you for watching! Happy to hear you figured the problem out!
How did you manage to remove the footwell? I started to try removing the caps over the bolts and was worried I was just going to destroy them.
I used a small flat head screwdriver to remove the caps

That's a genius idea! Never thought of doing that. I'll have to add this to my bag of tricks. Thanks!
Do I need to program this control module if I install it on my 2022 Ford transit-350 ?

@@ChilliesWorld ok. Thanks.
I have a 2018, brought it to the dealer to have this installed, running lights aren’t working, everything else is
Did your van come with the actual hitch ? Or just the harness thay runs front to back ?
