Where did you get this plug from when I open mine there is different type of plug it's like both male style plugs so I would need some extention cable for the trailer break controller
Did this work right away or did the ECU need to be reprogrammed, also did it work with your instrument cluster?? Thanks for the video, nice little location to stick it.
It worked right away, no reprogramming. No engine shut down or faults. But no read out on dash, or instrument panel. So I adjust gain by feed back from the trailer. (As I always do, i do not go by gain #)
The dealer charges an hour labor minimum to flash the comp so that it'll show up on the screen. I'm still trying to find all the parts to factory install this.
Thanks for this video! Could you have jammed it in there upside down so the wire wouldn't be exposed? Also, didn't they sell the version of the cover with one cupholder to be retrofitted?
Yes you can order the trim that holds the brake controller and the top that has 1 cup holder. I can't remember the cost but the part that holds the controller is large and cost some $$. I put it so it faces the tradition way and the wire can't be seen unless your in the floorboard looking straight at it.
Depending on if you want the uplifter switches next to to factory controller you have the option of with or without the switches with the controller. The dealer may try to sell you the module if you look under drivers door step you can see wiring running from back of van too rear of step it goes in and back out towards engine. The part numbers without the switches are. Controller ck4z2c006a $106.82 Compartment ck4z99115a00bb $132.86 C-holder ck4z6113562bc $132.86 Box until 8c3z2513546ca $7.39 Bezel ck4z61061b38aa $30.92 If you don’t have the module you will need the what they call controller wire harness Ck4z13a576a about $13
@@jaydee1313 Is that plug in all of them I have a 17 250 transit, with aux switches and a coin holder where the controller would go, but i removed the cup holder and don't see that plug, Thanks
Usually if it has the up fitter switches it has the slot for that controller to be placed up high. There were only two options, one had two cup holders like mine the other has one cup holder with upholder switches.
I have a 17 transit 250 i ordered with tow package has the 7 way plug and the wiring i removed the cup holder Mine only has room for 1 cup i have the aux switches, there is a coin holder beside it. but when i removed the cover like you have i don't see that plug, where you showed it. Do you think it possible that it is under there somewhere
great job, you saved me a lot of trial and error !!
Nice job I was looking into this and you saved me a head ache trying to put my p3 in.
thank you! I have the same trailer wiring you do and I am going to do exactly what you did.
You can reply the part under the cup holder that has the proper cut outs.
What if you remove the cup holder and the wire isn't there? Is it possible it's in another place?

Did you extend the wires from the tray area so that they would reach the area you placed the controller?
No i was able to pull it all the way to the bottom and it reached, but doesn't have much slack
