Wow, I just bought mine :) And you have Radiohead's "brackdrifts" in your intro. I like that. I was inspired to buy a kaoss pad by watching them perform "Everything in its right place" live on stage. Amazing! Can't wait for mine to arrive :)
God damn, great review, reviewer knew his stuff so well it blew my mind. No bullshit no testing options. Tells you all you need to know and then demo's it real fast with all the information on what is going on.
Perfect review.
Brilliant review thanks. Just got into KORG pads theyre such a great idea enhancer.
I have never seen any of your videos before, but you are such a great reviewer, subbed.
Bought one a few weeks back, having great fun with it! Brilliant for live gigs, for a bit of mixing/effects/pure fun. Would have likes to see more effects, but, I cant really complain all that much. Good stuff Korg!
Most unbiased and informative Quad review on the net!
Great work! Look forward to seeing you in other videos! :)
Great review! I like very your approach to reviews. Thanks
Many thanks for posting. Extremely clear and helpful.
Nice review, I was in 2 minds but seeing this vid has made me think that it could be a really nice addition just for a bit of variety to kind of music I do. Cheers for posting this...
Love all of your videos. You're true and do not sugar coat anything.
What song or loop did you use to review this? It was really pretty. Thanks for this video! Very informative and to the point. Jam on!
Very nice review. Clear, objective. Thanks!
Fantastic review, thanks a lot.
@sonicstate where can i get that song from 3:00 ?
great review!
i really dig the song. great review and tune as always.
thanks for this excellent review. I think it may have been nice if they had an additional channel that was a sort of auxiliary effect that would essentially work like how previous models worked with...
Very good review, it covers everything well and nailed the real essence of this kit. Alot of videos have comments of people complaining it isnt "more", when it's not really supposed to be "more".
I'm getting 1 next week when it comes to Denmark, no question about it! I dont need all the extras the KP3 offers, so this being slightly cheaper and more direct is a better choice all 'round.
My upcoming track is just waiting for this baby to come along!
Yes. I am getting one. Just because it looks like so much fun!!!! :) Great review!
great review. thank you.
thanks a ton.. i love this stuff!!
Please what synths are playing in the music in this video and what music is playing? Great review as usual, love this stuff.
I wish that Nick was my uncle or something.
what a lovely piee of music, this kaoss pad is lucky to process it :)
i really like your demo song
jesus that flanger sounds so good
Can you plug this into a stepsequencer while sequence is playing
@bligstar no reason why not, thats what I was doing in the video, you can route whatever you want through it,.
This thing is amazing and I want one
wow producing music on your own is so fantastic
can you plug this straight into your mix and use it on your cd dj?
could you check out if this works as a standalone 'pitchbend' unit. I have a Nord Piano (which has no pitchbend) Can I use the KPQuad for this feature? I've tried the KPmini but the pitch doesn't change fluently but with half steps (which is not cool if you want i to use as a pitchbend)
please could you recommend a way to record creations with the quad with keeping as much quality as possible in the recording? It would be greatly helpful, thanks :)
@bligstar of course! you could use the out of ur keyboard/synth into the kp4 and then out to what ever!
I got one of these a while ago, and I love it, but I haven't been able to play with it, probably because it's not hooked up right.
I don't get the Loop Slicer.
It sounds like it loops the previous beat, vs. the regular Looper, which loops the current beat.
I hope that makes sense.
Also, what's the second song? (the one that samples Wanna Be Startin' Somthin'?
I really like your voice :)
very good demo of the kp quad *thumbs up*
makes you want to buy it :D
@sonicstate well thats pretty awesome unit then! thank sooo much for the reply!
Got mine 10 hours ago. Supposedly as the first in Denmark. At the store they were digging it out of the fresh shipment, not even any of the clerks had had a chance to test 1 of them. They were drooling with envy ^^
About the tempo-detection not following smooth changes of speed in continuous music, if you tap it a couple of times at tempo, it will wake up and reallign without the detection deactivating. Still not perfect but a usable work-around.
Is the FX Depth knob another word for fx mix? In other words does it just mix between the wet and dry signal? So if you turn the knob fully left would it turn the effects off?
i dont wanna sound dumb, but im trying to get into producing music. if the pad is just for effects whats are u using to make the music itself. and any suggestions as to what i should get(trying to make goa/psytrance)..
absolutely sick. i feel like all their stuff is a little live in the moment kind of in different capacities
Have you ever reviewed the KP3? Currently I primarily DJ weddings but on occasion school dances, out of all these machines what would you recommend to get my hands wet? I mostly am just running mp3's off a lap top .
I understand this is primarily for live performance but is it possible to record the effects laid on a track to a DAW? For example, could I use the Quad to add effects to a performance created with the K-Pro in order to produce a finalized recorded wav/mp3 audio track?
I have a question of how you got the routing/connections from you Macbook/Logic DAW to the looper? did you do like a daisy chain type of thing ? Macbook(logic)+Interface (output)+Kaoss Pad? or did you do Input?
i dont know anything about DJing, or equipment.. but can this be hooked up with the Traktor Kontrol S4 and does it make a good combo? or can the tracktor kontrol S4 do everything that pad can as well? may someone help me out?
does the loop effect keep the track going underneath?
or like.. when you let go of the effect, does it pick up where it would have been if you hadn't looped it at all?
i got a quick question, can i use this in my dj setup? idk why but i have a hard time understanding the korg pads working with a setup. will all my audio plug into the kpquad? or will the kpquad plug into my mixer? i got a behringer ddm-4000 if that helps. i wanna get me the kp3 or this for sure. an answer to this dumb question would truely be appreciated :) thanks.
@sonicstate That piece of music got some amazing sound, really a pity there's no way to buy it somewhere. Oh and since I'm on it: really enjoying your reviews, much appreciated, thanks!
Came here to reminisce Even tho I had the original silver kaoss pad from yrs b4 this came out.
Lost this, my yamaha sampler, mixer, turntable, denon double cdj type deals (b4 they did the work for u), amp, 8 track recorder & speakers to a flood. 😭. Yrs of hard work & thousands of $'s poof.. gone. Had so much fun with all my toys. Now ppl use computers but u really enjoyed my set up b4 new tech took over.
You can dial in the correct BPM quickly. You can look up the BPM in DJ software or media player. Kaoss Quad is a very handy tool, in fact I'm getting another one soon !
Whoops. Just noticed, there doesnt seem to be a switch for selecting Mic or Line input, does it simply mix the 2 all the time or how does that actually work?
This man needs a raise...
I was just wondering. Does the Kaoss Pad come with any pre-loaded samples of effects already built into the piece. If you get back to me ASAP. thank you!
im sold.
What's the best way of using a mic with this?
XLR to Jack in the input then Jack to XLR from the phones socket?
Or should you use the other connections? And if so, which cables do you need?
can u use this thing along with keyboards/synths for live performances or is this strictly DJ thingy??
I have a kaosilator pro I was lookin at the quad and the kp3 b4 now I need 1 of the 2 to prosses the kaossilator pro anyway so what would you suggest this or kp3
so can you play different things on a synth and have them all on loop? like on the kp3?
would really appreciate a test using a mic. i'm looking for something for looping/fx with a tuba. i have my left hand free. is it possible to create loops using one hand? can i get octave fx? (can't find info on these topics, maybe it's not really designed for this!)
How many effects can a KP3 (three!) do simultaneous on the four samples in comparison? And can the three do a BPF+ of a Cut off with Resonance? Thanks
also is there a hold button to hold an effect at a precise moment?
At 3:00 and on is that an actual track (artist?) or just something you made in the studio? Sounds cool. Cool video, thanks.
what song and key are used to make this song??..thx!!
do you have to have/use a synth to use this? i just want to make cool sounds and beats with it, but i sold my synth so i wouldn't have anything to hook it up to.
hey, i have a mix track pro, a laptop and then some big PA speakers with an amphead, will this work with those? I'm a bit confused :L
Would this be good for live djing? Because if you change to 115 bpm it dsnt detect, therefore putting on a different song straight after wont work on the pad. Is this not worth it?
Where would you suggest I look around online for one of these?
I like the song you had playing .. Is that one of your songs? What's it called? Also.. how does this fare with beat boxing?
hi there!
Can i use this with a guitar and if yes how? (loop or front)
Thanks in advance man!
can you use the reverb and delay together?
There's a button in the 4th section that's titled "Delay Reverb" so yes. Did you end up getting one, 4 years later?
DO YOU HAVE TO HAVE A SOUND SOURCE TO MAKE MUSIC ON THE QUAD???
Please respond!!
is it possible to connect the Kaoss Pad Quad with the ddj Ergo?
How precise did you find the 'auto tempo' function?
Hey I'm a beatboxer and I need to know how to make multiple sounds on Kaoss quad pad like the Kaoss 3 pad! I have quad but idk how to make multiple sounds other then one freeze. Help plz? Should I sell this one and get the 3?
Good demo. Shame it doesn't have midi. The KP3 and Kaosillator Pro have midi which is very useful for synching to my live looping gear.
damn yea i was about to buy one after 20 sec.. but with no midi clock.. deal breaker. maybe the KP Quad 2
Is your song at 3:00 uploaded? I really like it
@Davieantm You can hook this up to Traktor. Traktor has inbuilt effects already, although, that being said, the Kaoss pad probably has better effects, provided it syncs properly to the tempo.
Why do people say its so bad that it doesnt have midi? I mean, it detects the tempo so the effects or not out of sync i gues? And what do u need more from a effect unit
Can you use this with Turntables? For live performances?
So, if I bought this would I pretty much be set for audio mixing right out of the box? Or would I need other software or hardware?
no , its an effect engine , yoy drive another instruments or software through it
@L0lz0mB13 Music/original song ---> Kaoss Pad ---> standard multi-track recoding hardware ---> Recording software. :)
This is a sick pad
Does it have midi and what kind of sounds does this machine make?
Can i use this with a midi controller with integrated sound card (torq xponent) ?
someone give me this loops.. so sick.. i could listen to it all day
Say u got one one of these and is a beatboxer. Could u do various beats and keep them going while adding more on at the same time? Cause I got one and have no idea what I am doing
+Evo Gaming I think you want a loop pedal for that, also why get one when you haven't even researched it? Haha
You should release this as a song
what's the title of the song from 2:25 - 4:30 ?
only 1 effect and it affects every sample slot + input. you can however resample with an effect and that way you can use more than 1 fx. if i remember correct it can control bpf`s cutoff and resonance at the same time(cutoff=X,reso=Y)
This songs great is there a download for it?
can you hock this up to a controller like the numark mixtrack quad?
YES
I want 1!!
Looks great to me! That's what Drew Shirley uses!
i see that you can put a guitar into it, but i didnt see a spot for a guitar cord output when he was showing the back...
@bligstar It has midi I/O so can be used with synths
@vangeorge45 My guess is the loop he made was made in a DAW but it would probably be made otherwise with the kaossilator. the KP3 is only for sampling and not synth generation. In the beginning he explains that there's a R and L output in the front.
@johell667 It's pretty much only designed to go into an analogue mixer?
This had the potential to be the best Kaospad yet, shame Korg dropped the ball on that one. I still have my original Kaospad BTW, it is a great tool for live mixing when used with a mixer that has FX send/return.
